SEGA ANNOUNCES THEY ARE OFFICIALLY MAKING ONLY MOBILE GAMES FROM NOW ON, NO MORE CONSOLE OR PC GAMES
translated article: http://www.japantoday.com/smartphone/view/arts-culture/fans-mourn-segas-exit-from-the-console-video-game-market
WHY DID YOU LET THIS HAPPEN /v/???
literally nobody cares about sega anymore
they make shit games now, and rehash older ideas that were shit to begin with.
The only thing I would like from them is PSO2 western release, and that's about it.
If they made good games and didn't keep porting the same games over and over, they would survive
How the fuck does it take 1.5 years to make Sonic 4 Episode 1 and another year to make Episode 2? Even then the games were still fucked
>mfw Sanic Boom killed Sonic
>mfw Sanic 4 sucked
>mfw Sonic ADV3 never ever
Fuck this earth
Good, maybe they'll sell off some of their fucking IPs that haven't been touched in over a decade in the transition to a mobile only company.
>mfw sanic adventure series were all garbage as well
>mfw Sonic Boom was so shitty SEGA exited the real video game business
I don't even care, Sega has made like three decent games in the past decade.
>SEGA ANNOUNCES THEY ARE OFFICIALLY MAKING ONLY MOBILE GAMES FROM NOW ON, NO MORE CONSOLE OR PC GAMES
That's not what they said. They said they will focus more on PC and mobile (something they already do since a year or more). They are still open to make some console games.
CRASHING THE INDUSTRY WITH NO SURVIVORS!
Rest In Peace you great little hedgehog. Your masters ruined your image.
Well hopefully they die soon and start releasing those IPs so competent developers can buy them and we get the games our childhood deserves.
Who am I kidding, if they started going bankrupt Nintendo would probably buy them outright, never use any of their IPs and keep making New Super Mario Bros games
this news is like 3 months old
Who's gonna make my miku games from now on? Where is my Skies of Arcadia enchanced edition for PS3/Vita/PC?
At this rate it wouldn't surprise me if the vast majority of devs/publishers are strictly mobile in a few years.
It's just a no brainer from a business standpoint. There's way too much easy profit in mobile gaming compared to console and PC gaming.
Soon consoles and PC will be nothing left but p2w mmo/moba shit.
>"Mobile shit will never kill vidya games" - /v/ a few years ago
Fuck you guys, you deserve this turd. I warned you faggots, but you faggots ignored and said "hurr not your personnel army kid..."
Now check my 5
>There's way too much easy profit in mobile gaming compared to console and PC gaming.
This is a complete lie. It's a very volatile market where most developers will end up killing themselves, and those who are left will be forced to make mobage and other freemium shit.
I ain't care
>>"Mobile shit will never kill vidya games"
Said no one ever, least of all on /v/.
/v/ has been crying about mobile bullshit ruining everything and forcing the whole industry into a second crash for years now.
Sega Sammy Holdings, the parent company that now controls one-time video gaming pioneer Sega, is looking to seriously overhaul its structure and business operations. Statements from the conglomerate have stressed that this is an ongoing process, but one of the first steps seems to be Sega ditching the console video game business to focus on what it considers the areas of biggest growth, mobile and online PC games.
PC games. They merely abandoned consoles and nobody gives a shit about that. Why are you such a dicknugget, OP?
>NO MORE CONSOLE OR PC GAMES
>one of the first steps seems to be Sega ditching the console video game business to focus on what it considers the areas of biggest growth, mobile and online PC games.
>and online PC games
All this stuff is about the restructuring and foreign job cuts, not "SEGA ANNOUNCES THEY ARE OFFICIALLY MAKING ONLY MOBILE GAMES FROM NOW ON, NO MORE CONSOLE OR PC GAMES." What I want to know is why is this suddenly in the news when Sega hasn't said anything like that?
>People think mobile push is going to stop at Blizzard and Sega
>B-b-b-b-but it's just a bubble! Nintendo said so! It MUST be true!
>Sonic Boom was such a boom that it killed Sega
Jesus fuck, I wonder if Big Red Button will even be hired again after their first game killed a publisher
>This is a complete lie. It's a very volatile market where most developers will end up killing themselves, and those who are left will be forced to make mobage and other freemium shit.
This. Everybody looks at shit like Clash of Clans making money hand over fist and generating Porsche 918s out of thin air for everyone involved, but they fail to recognize that for every Supercell there's legions upon legions of tryhard retards who just end up thousands of dollars in the hole
They just made their last
It's called Sonic Boom
>mfw CWC was right
Any publisher that tries to jump on mobile always goes full retard and starts adding microtransactions out the ass and expects to suddenly make billions over night
It's the newest goldrush, thinking it will save a dying company is idiotic
>Sonic has blue arms in his last console game.
truly the worst thing that has come from this
On the plus side, mobile Sonic games probably won't be so shitty now.
... It's just a damn shame that all modern mobile devices use fucking touchscreens. God, why couldn't they have just made Sonic Runners a 3DS eShop game or something?
It's over, /v/. Vidya is dead. I'm packing my bags and heading over to /tg/. See you there.
I've been wondering if this is why we haven't had much Project Diva news or announcements. If we don't hear anything in march, I'm getting the feeling the PD arcade is going to come to a close too... They seems to suggest they're exiting all arcade business that can't be converted to online games, so versus games like that mecha TPS (borderbreak?) and card style games might survive, but miku seems up a creek, not to mention all their console single player games. On top of that they're closing shop on western publishing, so those hoping online games means they'll finally get PSO2 are probably out of luck too.
> It's just a damn shame that all modern mobile devices use fucking touchscreens.
Ofcourse they do, part of the reason the 3DS hasn't sold as much as the DS is that somehow even after all the DS sold to older people. Systems with buttons are back to being stigmatised as childish.
Mobiles are gimped as game playing devices in order to be fashionable even though adults will bring them out to play games like candy cursh.
SEGA wasted too much time trying figure out what sonic needed to be in a 3D world. They still haven't figured it out.
SEGA just needs to sell off the Sonic IP to Nintendo for mad dosh and invest that money toward this new Mobile/PC market they want to pursue.
Holy fuck this 3DS game was a huge pile of shit
Reminder that Gearbox drained over 40 millions out of SEGA for the scam that was Colonial Marines.
They could have used that money for:
>New Jet Set Radio
>New Skies of Arcadia
>Multiplat Bayonetta 2
But no: That money went into Memelands 2 and its DLC.
I'm pretty sure Sega killed themselves. They seemed like they were desperate to get out of that contract with Nintendo so they released whatever shit as fast as possible. I think Boom was originally going to be a multiplat game but was shoved to the Wii U for the contract.
>I think Boom was originally going to be a multiplat game but was shoved to the Wii U for the contract.
They could made so mad dosh if it was mutiplat.
Sega is retarded as hell.
>Pushing the fuck out of garbage sonic sequels
>Refusing to do anything worth a damn with your decent new IPs like Valkyria or giving A series like Yakuza more of a push.
They did it to themselves
>Reminder that Gearbox drained over 40 millions out of SEGA for the scam that was Colonial Marines.
Stop spreading this nonsense. You have no proof of this and are hurting good developers and people like Randy.
Not popular and they're mostly niche mpw. Not much point in using an IP in the mobile market if only a few hundred thousand will ever want to play it.
The mobile market is high volume, razor thin profit. Tying themselves down to those IP would be worse for them than just copying what's popular(endless runners, puzzle games, etc.)
Do people not realise that Sega owns one of the biggest PC cash cows?
Sanic still lives on, guys.
It's fucking over now
Goddam it Yu Suzuki
You missed your window
Fuck damn it
Do they honestly just don't get it
Jesus fucking christ just stop it
Stop it you fucking idiots
To be fair, Sonic's last console game being Sonic Boom would have been shitting into a grave.
And more shit probably as well.
The whole ''We quit'' shit basicly means they won't try anything risky anymore.
Sanic will stay.
Yakuza will stay.
PC will still get Total War, Football Manager and Relic games.
>Jet Set Radio 3 will NEVER EVER HAPPEN!
I want to legit murder some Jap right now.
>sonic literally killed sega
>but it managed to live on somehow
NAME A TIME AND PLACE
I'LL BE THERE TO HELP YOU
But it clearly says pc games. Sega is only leaving the console market.
In the last years the bulk of profits (after pachinko) for Sega-Sammy were retail PC games. Not digital shit, no steam shit. RETAIL PC GAMES. As weird as it sounds. Its only logical this step. I hope this means pc releases of atlus titles.
You either die a hero, or live long enough to become the villain.
The least they could do is sell off their fucking IP that they don't even use anymore. Yu Suzuki deserves to have the Shenmue after all the shit Sega put him through. Platinum should bet back MadWorld and Anarchy Reigns. Billy Hatcher should belong to Nintendo, and Comix Zone should also return to its original creator like how it happened with Toejam and Earl.
>this videogame dev decides how bussiness is done in the company that employs him to make videogames
He might be up to, he might want to, but the decision comes from the higher ups. He will end like that Megaman faggot, making an OC (Not) Megaman outside Sega.
SEGA can die and Sonic Team would still not stop making Sonic games.
I never liked sonic, not even as a kid, the other sega titles were meh to me. So i don't really care beyond the respect i have for a company that made games other people enjoyed.
They only produced one, they don't own it
They killed it themselves and made the series sold like shit
Only Japan likes it and it's sales have been dwindling
Only thing consistently successful.
Why do people want this? I really don't understand even though I've seen it so many times.
I don't want to spend $2000 to play video games and don't know why so many people do. I know there are advantages to PC gaming but I don't think it's worth the astronomical cost, plus having to learn how to build one.
Why can't I just have my $250 Nintendo console? Why do you want me to have to spend several thousand dollars on a PC even though my console works fine at a price I can actually pay as a poorfag? Is killing off consoles going to make PCs cheaper somehow?
>''We quit consoles''
>''Except we don't change a thing''
>I don't want to spend $2000 to play video games and don't know why so many people do.
A decent PC that can play everything costs 300-400 bucks. Everything above that is for people who need 4K + 200 FPS. Or its for those who want to play badly optimised Ubisoft PC ports.
Because they never released the goddamn games I wanted to play.
I would have paid full price for a console or PC Valkyria Chronicles 2 that wasn't scaled down for hand helds.
I would have paid full price for an enlgish Valkyria Chronicles 3.
>No more PC games
That's pretty untrue. They own Relic and Creative Assembly. Not even EA would stick them on Facebook duty. At least, not without milking their titties dry, first.
They haven't been doing that since the days of THQ. Games Workshop refused to involve SEGA with their licensing and gave it out to a bunch of other people instead. They cannot make a DoW3, and the Space Marine sequel got turned into the 40k MMO.
Never released shenmue 3 or a new jet set radio, so fuck sega. I was a huge sega fanboy back in the day, sonic was so much cooler than mario. After the genesis they went so far downhill it wasn't even funny. The DC did have a few gems but sega failed to really capitalize on them, so this is all really their own fault. They could only ride the sonic train so much.
>he bought a shitty pre-built
>400 dollar prebuild PC
>comes with meh tier intel CPU
>onboard graphics or low end GPU
>1 TB harddrive
>4 GB RAM
Making that shit myself gave me an i5, a GTX 560 Ti and 6GB RAM PC
Let's be honest here, Gearbox Killed SEGA.
>not only people here supported Anthony Burch but they also killed SEGA
why? because I really fucking LOVE Sonic Adventure 2.
Don't know about Sanic Boom or Sanic 06.
Either way, I just blame Chris-chan if they truly stop. He's so autistic that he'd disgust the guys at Sega so much they'd stop making Sanic.
WHY DID YOU LET THIS HAPPEN /v/???
Makes shit game after shit game, doesn't localize games that a lot of people wants to play, keeps on making more and more Sonic games, which sucks more with each new game.
Thats just SEGA being SEGA.
Well that's part of what I was saying, you need to learn how to actually build a PC to use it, and that's a field I know nothing about at all and would have to study a lot to figure out how to do it right, if I don't break the parts I try to build it with.
I respect the people that can do it, but it's not something I think I could do and it's why I wouldn't want PCs to be the only option to play games.
>vidya is dead because a company that made games about a shitty platformer/gobba go fast is now moving onto mobile
the only people that care would be the autistic sonic fanbase
Why did I let it happen? I bought fucking Unleashed and Lost World. I was tired of eating shittier and shittier sandwiches and absolutely refused to buy Boom. THEY let this happen.
>SEGA ANNOUNCES THEY ARE OFFICIALLY MAKING ONLY MOBILE GAMES FROM NOW ON, NO MORE CONSOLE OR PC GAMES
>Sega ditching the console video game business to focus on what it considers the areas of biggest growth, mobile and online PC game
>To focus on pc games
You lying little faggot.
Maybe if they stopped making shit games, this wouldn't have fucking happened.
>mfw People think that Sonic 1's physics are good and not just gimmicky moon shite.
>never played with Legos as a kid
It's not hard dude. A girl can do it and it doesn't cost $2000. I built mine for $800-850 back in 2012. Now it's even cheaper by just getting a GTX 750ti for $150 to start.
I'm not even being a mustard fag, but I went from a 360 to a gaming PC 3 years ago and I don't regret it at all. Especially with Metal Gear Solid 5 coming to PC. The only other next gen console I own now is a Wii U.
>free online multiplayer
>1440p if you want
>whole buncha jap stuff coming like Metal Gear, Dragon Ball, etc.
SEGA literally going to spend all their time making Miku dress up mobile games, a f2p moba starring Sonic characters, while continuously whipping CA's back to keep the creation of Total War culture packs at a consistent pace, and to distract them from the immense guilt they feel over how wrong it was for them to ACTUALLY release the alpha for Rome 2 and then cut the game up into DLC packs.
Why can't the mobile bubble just burst already?
FUCKING NORMALFAGS FIND A NEW DUMB HOBBY ALREADY
STOP BUYING MOBILE CRAP AND RUINING VIDEO GAMES
That's an unfair generalization. I built my PC for $400 in 2007, and I still play games to this date above medium settings. Granted, I replaced my 9800GT with a 660 a year and a half ago during some special sale, but still.
In what world? Most good video cards cost around 200~300 dollars alone.
If they moved to pc, it would be the same console shit except less optimized because there are a million different pc specs they have to take in account
Look at all these unused IPs. LOOK AT THEM! SEQUELS NEVER
>i gave my GPU a huge upgrade
Especially a better GPU makes a huge difference when it comes to videogame performance.
A decent GForce from the 400-500 series should cost less than 200 and be able to play everything besides unoptimized next gen AAA garbage.
Well we all saw this coming. A shame. Hope their talent pisses off to make their own studio Clover style.
Japanese mobile games aren't a "bubble" the market over there is eating into the console space.
Also forgot, here's a guide for parts.
That propaganda console-players like to spread about PC costing "$2000 to get into" is false. You can build a PC for roughly $500-600 that will be able to max out Ground Zeroes, maybe the Phantom Pain, and 90% of games with 60fps.
If you really don't wanna build one, at least take the crap machine you have now and slap a GTX 750ti in it for $150. Maybe even get an i3-i5 processor for $170-200 and boom. You only spent $350 to play games better than a PS4 or an Xbone.
First Tri-Ace, now Sega, this is truly the slippery slope that leads to the end times.
You know what the fucking proble is? None of you faggots are breeding so kids now are being brought up into homes with parents that are tech savvy enough to get their kid smartphone garbage but with no interest or knowledge about PC or console gaming. So their kids are exposed to cheap trash all through their youth and that becomes the shit they consume regularly.
I know at least some of you fuckers are old enough by now to have a decent job and the beginnings of a family. Fucking breed you faggots or you're just as responsible for the death of Video Games as the rest of the world.
Mobile is seriously that profitable that a former console manufacturer is actually going to make games exclusively for mobile? How did this happen? Is this only going to be limited to Japanese companies? Why can't jap companies into gaming profits no more?
The future of gaming is looking bleak.
>No sequel to Rhythm Thief
>Rusing me with that cliffhanger of an ending
>Getting me to get all A ranks just to ruse me into another fucking cliffhanger ending
This is the worst shit Sega has ever done FUUUUUUUUUCK
Post yfw Segata Sanshiro sacrificed himself for NOTHING.
>willfully petitions againsts Sega for changing the color of Sonic's arms in the new Sonic Boom game
>vandalize Sonic Boom merchandise to spread the message
>extremists acts eventually get him sent to jail
>Sonic Boom is the lowest selling Sonic game in history
>one of the lowest critically as well
>Sega drops out of console game making
He did it, he killed Sega.
>Why can't jap companies into gaming profits no more?
games are expensive to make nowadays, and for some reason they all keep trying to compete in this arms race rather than taking a step back and living within reasonable budgets for their fairly niche games.
>It seems that in your rage of Sonic Boom's changes you killed Sonic, and Sega as a whole.
*Ass turns into mouth and eats your dick
...it would be good to have that strength
Nintendo didn't do shit.
Sega dealt Sega a fatal blow.
1.Poor money management
2. Sega Saturn
If Sega would have never released the Saturn and released the Dreamcast in 1996 instead of 1999 they'd be going strong today.
Unfortuantly they hadn't finished the dc at that time because they were working on a big pile of trash. Oh well.
you're full of shit, there has been several articles on this already, they did not drop console fully they are putting it on back burner we may see a console release every few years from them, but it won't be anything on the scale that they have done over the past 20 years. They are focusing the pc and mobile market which means we might see an actual release of some of their great console games to pc or even a proper pso2 western release as right now their localization on it is very poor and it's a base game pretty much so far behind patches its not worth playing.
Here's some actual detail on how the localization for pso2 is going
it's very poor, but with them pulling the majority of their share out of the console market we may see this get better.
autistic shit heads taking to their keyboard to mourn over a failing sonic franchise because of bad business decisions, sega is finally pulling it's head out of it's ass which it should have done back in 2002-2008 rather then make continual milking, but this really says nothing for the company as a whole as far as sega is concerned they may milk the rest of their stock and popularity in the console market beating it like a dead horse, and when they finally feel that wad of cash is becoming a little light they may put full focus to pso2 or proper releases in PC, who knows because of sammy overall we might see collaborations from sega and atlus instead of them fighting it out all the god damn time. Or possible PC releases of some of their biggest hits.
OP you remaking these threads with a different shit article makes you a huge faggot, hell the one yesterday let's ponder sega's new name sega games as if they gave up video games as a whole. God damn OP you are so god damn retarded.
Sega doesn't even own half of those IPs though.
And the people that hold those IPs haven't worked with sega for AGES
The fuck are you talking about Yakuza has several sequels Bayonetta has a sequel albeit not published by sega and is working on a third game.
Jet set radio has jet grind radio and jet set radio future the one I'd kill for a PC release or even a fucking remake to newer consoles even if only 360/ps3 would be jet set radio future. Tons of these IPs don't work with sega anymore does not mean they don't have sequels you fucking autist.
>Nintendo didn't do shit.
Simply being better was enough Anon
>Make semki decent games people enjoy
>'Sir the fans want us to bring over Yakuza and Project Diva overseas...'
>'OK. We give them more Sonic.'
>WHY CAN'T WE PROFIT???? WAT THE FUCK
Sega of Japan ran its Western arms into the ground out of spite. Now its winding down everything since it can't make money or manage projects with any competency.
All of the major wounds are self inflicted. Sammy asset stripping them and winding them down won't amount to much except putting a miserable corporation out of its misery.
Persona Q was an obvious cash grab at P3 and P4 fanfiction sites.
As for Persona 5 what's wrong with it, looks exactly like Persona 4 in Red with a cat instead of a bear mascot. Looks like possible game of the year material considering how big the persona fan base has grown in the US. I don't know how serious you are to a game not even released.
>Sega will never ever let Atlus localize new games
Persona 5 might be the last SMT in the west, new titles will be Japan only for now.
Why Atlus needs to be purchased by a shitty company that is almost going bankrupt?
Other way around anon.
Sammy already owned Atlus. Sega has offered Atlus help several times in the past with their path to online, but atlus as hard headed as they are won't let competitors near them, especially when their north american version of SMT; Imagine failed and atlus backed out for shit reasoning and jp exclusivity to imagine. Now with sega and atlus under the same shit hopefully some shit will get done. But neither will effect each others franchises none of that shit changes and for you to think so you really haven't understood what has been happening with atlus in the past 5 years. Atlus/Cave by themselves has been fucking up for the past 5 years, with numerous lawsuits against them, petitions for games, and their hard headed nature to not be reasonable with other companies going as far to attack magazine ads and other companies. They have fucked up so bad they have dropped publishers and host from several people over the turn of the past 5 years, until sammy cut them a break.
>Better than SEGA
At business? Sure. But when it comes to making games, absolutely not. Especially in the time frame we're talking about. N64 vs. Dreamcast? It's not a tough contest.
And persona 4 is 3 with a lighter touch on story your point is?
Atlus/cave hasn't made a good game since nocturne if you really wanna break it down even nocturne was disappointing to where they could have really taken their story, but the SMT timeline is so backwards ass they will never do this justice ever again.
>implying Sonic games were ever good
It's just a normal platformer with a camera zoomed in too much
It was meant to fail when new games would start to appear, Sega just accelerated the process by being shit at business
And I ain't even a nintendo fan
I blow your argument up in your face and you can't deal out a good response so you'll act like a faggot in response and try to be condescending about it, a showcase to shitposting.
Let's compare today's Sega with Classic Sega of the 80s and 90s.
The Sega of the 80s and 90s had globally popular brands such as Hang On, Space Harrier, OutRun, AfterBurner, Streets of Rage, Power Drift, Shinobi, ToeJam & Earl, Phantasy Star, Shining Force, VF, Daytona, Sega Rally etc. These games were popular everywhere pretty much. This was no accident; Yu Suzuki was very focused on making the likes of OutRun appealing to Westerners as well as Japanese folk.
Likewise Rieko Kodama and Yuji Naka made games that were very Japanese yet also accessible to western gamers.
Yuzo Koshiro's soundtrack for Revenge of Shinobi and SoR were western influenced and that resulted in huge popularity in the west.
Now let's look at today's Sega, where Sega's Japanese output is aimed solely at Japan, with no thought of the global market. Its not even an afterthought.
In the West, they publish TW, Footie Manager, and other "spod" PC games, which have no appeal to the Japanese.
Thus their market is horribly split, Sonic is their only current global IP, and thus their brand identity is feeble. There are two separate Sega's which have no connection to each other and both feel bland as fuck.
Capcom may be stupid, but they still have several of their IPs and much of their identity intact. Sega are just a nothing company and are literally becoming invisible.
Pretty sure they said they'll still make Sonic games on console.
Exactly. Sammy is asset stripping, they are not trying to save or help Sega, they are milking the dying cow and stripping its skin and meat to line their own pockets. Sammy slashed Sega's R&D budget a few years back, which fucked their internal development.
A proper pso2 release years ago could have saved them in the PC market, they have the site up
If they do it now however it seems shallow as shit and poorly managed. Given the current localization is just the base game and so far behind in patches it's not worth playing.
They could have done several remakes on several of the IPs they been through also poor business decisions wrapped around these.
Hell there was a sega anniversary collection on humblebundle during december 2014 that was awesome and they should do more into the pc market by expanding their list of games to localize and port to the PC market it would drastically save their image.
>implying they won't be just exploiting his dead body
>implying we won't get a Generations 2 one day
They could have made a new Streets of Rage (Koshiro was devving it) on the Dreamcast but Peter Moore had not heard of SoR.
Imagine a SoR 4 which retained the 2D gameplay like SFIV, but with hugely detailed characters and scenery...people would go apeshit if they revealed that at E3. The hype would be huge.
But Sega will instead make boring imitative generic shit...their line-up is snore inducing.
>Sega ditching the console video game business to focus on what it considers the areas of biggest growth, mobile and online PC games.
>mobile and online PC games.
They're just going to stop making console garbage. It says so right there on the first paragraph, you retarded mongoloid. I can't say I blame them, with consoles being literally kill in Japan and all that noise. Also, PC gamers are the only ones supporting them now. Remember how great VC did for them recently on Steam? That's when they made the decision to leave console gamers behind, since the garbage that sells on consoles (#1 in UK charts) is bullshit like The Order 1886. I guess Sega wants to keep making games, not movies with bullshit QTE end boss fights. Good for them, I wish them good luck.
Also, expect more and more developers to leave that sinking ship which is console gaming.
Friendly reminder that Sega of Japan have not released VC on PC in Japan, nor are they interested in Alien Isolation for the JPN market.
Valkyria Chronicles is pretty much dead given the studio who made it are long gone.
> But muh ports of old Sega games!
There are only a handful worth porting.
>But muh Saturn games!
Sega can't be arsed to go to the trouble and cost of porting them.
> But they might localize games to PC!
It took them over a year to localize their old arcade game ports for 3DS.
>However you're just asspained Sega said "fuck you and goodbye" to console gamers.
>not being an idort
How can you even be excited for shitty online games? Most of them will probably be f2p and will never come to the west. Of course people might create an english patch for the games, but what's the point if they're shit.
The only game I'd like to play online is Yakuza. However knowing Sega they won't create such a game. And they said that they will still create Sonic games on consoles, they're just too stupid to understand what people really want.
>Friendly reminder that Sega of Japan have not released VC on PC in Japan, nor are they interested in Alien Isolation for the JPN market.
I don't live in Japan though, so that doesn't affect me. The home turf of PC gaming is the west. The home turf of Mobile is Japan. Consoles no longer have a home turf, they're just dead, ancient machines nobody wants, like Betamax or VHS.
>Valkyria Chronicles is pretty much dead given the studio who made it are long gone.
So what? It did pretty well recently on PC and Sega still owns it, so I'm pretty sure they could make new ones in the future once they stabilize and get solid footing on their new home platforms (mobile and PC). What's for sure though is that they're DONE with making them for consoles. That's 100% certain.
>Sega can't be arsed to go to the trouble and cost of porting them.
That's your personal opinion. I bet you said the same thing about VC as well, before it was released on PC.
>It took them over a year to localize their old arcade game ports for 3DS.
Did it? because I don't own a 3DS so that didn't affect me. Too bad for the 3DS folks right? Thank goodness 3DS isn't PC.
And i just played Skies of Arcadia recently.
I just wanted something else about t, a remake, a port?
>Most of them will probably be f2p and will never come to the west. Of course people might create an english patch for the games, but what's the point if they're shit.
That's just you being asspained. Some other asshole like you said on another post "they're not going to be making pc games for japan." So how can he be right and you be right at the same time?
You're just negative assholes speculating on shit you know nothing about, because you're bitter Sega said "goodbye and fuck off" to all console gamers so now you're coming up with conflicting speculation just to hate on Sega.
It went from "they're not going to make pc games for japan!" to "they're only going to make f2p online games that will never come to the west" from one post to the next. You guys simply don't know what bullshit to make up next!
I don't care what other people said. I own a decent PC and a few handhelds+consoles. So why I should be butthurt about it?
Sega has been making stupid decisions for years now. Also a lot of their games don't ever come out in the west.
Japanese people do release PC games, but most of the time they're online if you didn't notice it yet and most of the time they stay in Japan.
Which is apparently "go out of business" at this rate.
They might get reshuffled since they're more successful and technically operate under the Sammy umbrella.
>No more Yakuza
>No chance of new, decent sonic games
>Valkyria Chronicles is now fully dead in the water
>Phantasy Star is fucjed forevermore
>Rumoured Alien: Isolation sequel is never going to happen
>So many great IPs gone to waste
even the best case scenario is just other studios swooping in like vultures and buying up the rights with no guarentee they'll use them
Fuck, Sega will probably retain them just so they can keep making spinoff phone games and f2p online shit using their franchises - guarenteeing they all die with them.
Platinum owns Bayonetta you dumb fuck, Sega only published the first game, and now Nintendo publishes it and the second.
And they're still making games, just shitty mobile ones, so they'll hold onto Sonic.
>But muh Saturn games!
>Sega can't be arsed to go to the trouble and cost of porting them.
Really? because I played Jet Set Radio on PC recently. I must have been imagining things, though. According to you...
You forgot that Atlus will probably get the same treatment as an EA subsidiary - right after their last major title they were working on before the acquisition is finished, they'll release two shit or mediocre games designed with mass appeal before their main talent bails and the company has half it's staff shifted to mobile and F2P browser game titles.
In a few years everyone is laid off and the IPs only get used for brand recognition for whatever Sega wants to market next.
Good riddance. They've been hanging onto the market like a fucking turd stuck to ass hair. They haven't made anything good in a long time, everything good to come from them in recent years has been developed by other teams.
Sega has the right of it. Release shitty simplistic games on the phone and makes millions.
This is instead of dumping money and effort into IP titles and be bitched at by freaks like Chris.
No one wants to deal with communities like this anymore, you people can be insufferable.
>WHY DID YOU LET THIS HAPPEN /v/???
Yeah it's totally my fault they refuse to localize anything.
Wait a second doesn't Sega own Atlus?
What the hell is this horse shit
You're just an idiot who's mad that Sega doesn't want to make games for consoleshitters any more.
What's selling right now on consoles? #1 in UK is The Order 1886, right? I can't blame Sega for leaving console gaming behind. They probably want to make GAMES, not MOVIES. Go play your interactive movies with QTE end boss fights and stfu. It's the future you chose.
Also, you're going to see more console developers do the same move in the coming years and just leave you cancerous consolefucks behind. Sega is just ahead of the pack with their decision. Good for them!
That's what's killed their brand. You used to be confident that a game made by Sega would be good shit.
Releasing bad games damages your brand but Sammy does not care about the Sega brand as they are milking and asset stripping.
>never ever, pc gamers!
well well well... this is an interesting turn of events.
>And by PC games they mean Facebook shit.
more bullshit unfounded speculation from the asspained consolefag crowd.
If we mash all your bullshit together I guess "Sega will now be making Facebook f2p korean grindfests that are never going to come to the west, yet never be sold in asia since they'll never make pc games for japan!"
>Sonic Boom is the last feature length Sonic Game to ever be made
Its like a metaphor or something
>There will never be a new Panzer Dragoon
>There will never be a new Jet Set Radio
>There will never be a new Shenmue
>Sega abandoned all of these amazing series to shit out endless fucking shitty Sonic games
Well we did get VC. I'm pretty sure this franchise is even easier to release on PC than VC itself, and the games are already made, so not much more else to do. Easy money for Sega.. all they have to do is grab it, like they did with VC. I'm guessing it won't be long. :^)
>Mfw Sonic is a cursed franchise
Seriously, when was the last time Sonic got a game that wasnt a complete let down?
it means Virtua Fighter 6 = ARCADE ONLY
No VF6 for us, japan comes first.
People are disappointed that Sega abandoned a lot of their franchises/never released some of their games in the west just to release more shitty Sanic games.
I still don't understand how you people can be excited for online games never to be released here? I wouldn't say anything if they started releasing their games on PC (like Yakuza 6, VC4), but that's not happening.
Good, fuck Sega. They've been pumping out shit-tier Sonic games and ignoring other franchises that consumers have been begging for for over a decade. The console market isn't their problem, their problem is they decided to act like complete fucking jackasses.
Virtua Fighter was and is always an arcade game before anthing else.
The game is still alive on arcades there whilst dead on consoles.
There is still another update coming to arcade this month and not on consoles.
Why do you think that is?
They won't kill their arcade games never.
At least not virtua fighter.
How many times do I have to repeat myself in this thread that I'm not only a console user?
Why can't you just accept the fact that Sega is shit for making stupid decisions? You can still play VC 2 and 3 on pc with an emu, so that shouldn't be a big problem.
I'd also be happy if they release more of their games on PC, since then it could be actually translated by fans.
Wow.. check out that huge library of games! It's a good thing I'm a PC gamer.. and since Valkyria Chronicles did very well on Steam, there's a good chance now we'll get to see a lot of those titles! Full Steam ahead, Sega!! (get it, full STEAM ahead? heheh..)
>I'm not only a console user
Your mom's old busted hand-me-down laptop doesn't count, anon.
>all these people crying about abandoned IPs that will never get sequels
You guys are fools if you EVER expected Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Jet Set, or any other classic games to get sequels. Sega abandoned them years ago. People have been begging for sequels for a decade, Sega didn't give a shit. They were too busy churning out broken, halfassed sanic games to care.
Why they decided to adopt that self-destructive business model is beyond me, but it's all said and done now. Sega hasn't made anything good in years and they haven't cared about their consumers in years. Blaming their lack of success on the console market, instead of their own moronic decisions, shows even more just how arrogant and out of touch they are.
HAHAHAHAHAH!! all these bitter consoleniggars!! What a great day it has been!
I'm more afraid they're going to be adding new IPs to that list, frankly. I guess if SEGA dumps Project DIVA, crypton can always hire dingo to carry on, but everything else seems up for grabs.
>look up Sega Sammy and you'll find out they're not the same.
Ok lets see what it says..
>Sega Samī Hōrudingusu Kabushiki Gaisha?, TYO: 6460) is a Japanese holding company formed from a merger of Sega and Sammy. They are both very involved in the arcade business (Sega with video games, Sammy with Pachinko), and Sega's fame also comes from their console systems.
>They are both
Yup, Sega is pretty much still there. You're just some bitter faggot, mad that Sega left consoles behind and moved on to only Mobile and PC. Stay mad, bitterfag!
>I wonder how this will affect Atlus?
All of that is going PC and mobile.
Im gonna leave this here
>Index gets free
Sega sucks though, they've not been on point for about 14 - 15 years now.
>bitter consoleshitter crying all over his laptop still trying to convince people that Sega is no longer real just because they don't want to make games for his toy box any more
Just stop man
You are not triggering anyone
