ITT: MMO stereotypes
>that guy who acts LOLSORANDUMB all the time for no reason
>that dude who claims to be high 24/7
>that silent nig who never speaks but always gets the job done
>that one smug cunt who just has to act like a complete tool for who knows what reason
>obligatory grill gamer
GIVE ME AN MMORPG TO PLAY.
No wow, no ffxiv.
WILLING TO PAY! ITS RIDICULOUS! So many people are WILLING to throw money at an mmorpg that half decent and yet retarded cant companies cant come up with anythng.
Shit doesn't really go down until that core breaks off into two different cores that begrudgingly accept each other just because two of the most important people to their respective groups are still friends.
>that guy/girl that uses japanese emojis after every sentence
thx 4 prty ^_^ ~(0^0)1
>that guy who manages to break into the core group and become leader
>that one guy who nobody likes, nobody talks to, and nobody remembers when he eventually leaves
That guy is a bit of a casual, doesn't play that often, but is competent and generally a nice guy all-around.
>tfw only worthless autists want to run dungeons 24/7 and you just wish your cool bro was on instead of with his gf ;_;
>tfw that bro is still in the game but with his online gf and her friends
I feel like I should give him a few words or warning as someone that had a gf before but I know this is an important learning experience for him so I will let it play out even though I know it can only end badly for him.
He wouldn't listen anyways. I know I didn't listen to my other friend when he tried to warn me because I was too blinded by love.
>the Canadian guy eager to apologize
>the guy who never owns up to his mistakes
>the guy who blames the game for being bad
>the guy who doesn't realize everybody hates him
>the guy who doesn't clear endgame content but always chips in to discussion about it
>the guy who complains about not having a static while exerting no effort to start or get into one
>the emote guy
>the guy who thinks he is the quiet guy who is really good at content but he's just an antisocial bad
>That guy that gets into the guild much later than you, but befriends everyone and now they like him more than you
>the guy who plays ffxiv in hopes that the combat gets less boring and the skills get less shit as he levels up
>the guy who tries to communicate with everyone he does a quest with but nobody in the game ever talks
>the guy who realises that ffxiv a shit
people say get to level 20
other people say lvl 30
other say you have to join a guild for it to be fun
Others say the game is shit until endgame
i was really intrigued by the job system and all the crafting jobs but they are fucking useless
autoattack is a fucking joke so you spam your 2 skill rotation over and over just to level up and get a shitty fucking skill you are not going to use for the next 10-20levels
As a summoner mage you get a pet and 2 skills you can use. One is a damage over time skill so you use it once on a minion and then you spam your other skill over and over and ocer because you dont have anything else. And instead of giving you another nuke spell they give you "restore 20% mp" shit as well as a weak heal. MY FUCKING SKILLS USE LIKE 2MP!! By the time i cast those shits my mp and Hp has already regenerated on its own.
Who the fuck thought this was a good idea? You literally go 12 levels with only 1 real spell.
Then i switched to a marauder, which is a guy with a huge axe so i could finally wreck some shit.
Turns out the class is a tank but i leveled that piece of shit to 22 anyway just to see if the game gets any better. It doesnt.
Seriously fuck this game. Fuck the mute community. Fuck the combat. Fuck the mind numbing quests. And most of all fuck the people on /v/ who shilled me into subscibing for this boring shit of a game. Yes i am mad.
The worst MMO gamer are the annoying cunts who form a guild and invite people but never, ever let you into their conversations on guild chat
Then they wonder why everyone leaves
/vg/ did this as well, the first few members of the /vg/ guild on every MMO tried to exclude everyone else
I enjoy watching these people fail so much, it's a plague in post-EQ MMOs and the reason I don't bother to play any more. No point playing a social game where nobody wants to be social
Why do they play though? I'm not that guy, but I'm in the same boat. I like a lot of the stuff, like the environments, jobs, style, in FFXIV, but the game just isn't very fun by oneself. In FFXI, it was either party or die, which was annoying at times, but it forced camaraderie and created lasting memories.
I want that feeling again.
The fun social aspect of any MMO now is the endgame. Leveling up is just the boring solo grind to endgame (it hasn't been something to be experience in well over a decade, I have no idea why you thought you would get anything else.) The people who "shilled" you into subscribing to the game were obviously at endgame, something you didn't even get close to. They have an entirely different outlook on the game while you didn't even do any challenging or fun content.
Summoner doesn't get interesting until 30. You get more DoTs to use, and at 30 and 35 you get more things to use aetherflow stacks with. Marauder was always the more fun tank so I don't know why you didn't like it.
Why? I never played MMOs, but I thought that they were the most social games, where people talked and got friends. Isn`t it all about raiding with friends? Shit, playing one and making pals was one of my dreams.
but i did anon.
i seriously wonder how developers can fuck MMOs up this bad. Why dont they just take what works and is fun and improve on it
Guildwars 2 is another example.
what the fuck was that game even trying to do?
At least i can say that ffxiv is still better than that game.
>too much of an idiot to ever become good at Wildstar
Are you literally defending Wildstar?
Jesus fuck Anon.
GW2 had a good thing going before they dropped the ball with the living story shit. Instead of working on an expansion or anything meaningful they went with fill content made to churn out tie in cash shop items.
recently happened with a guild that formed with several old members, they started inviting new people in but just kept to themselves on some private channel on mumble. they probably just talked shit about other guildies. gladly that shit didn't live long.
I'm new to MMos too anon and I agree with everything you said
I've tried a dozen of them and they're all exactly the same shit. Nobody EVER plays together before endgame. They are dead empty barren wastelands until endgame which take forever to get to unless you've done it all before. Until endgame, you're just playing some of the worst videogame content available today. That's what MMOs are without other people - utterly shit games with shit quests, no physics, bad graphics, bad controls, ugly HUDs, and so on. Everything about MMOs are shit outside of the social aspect which 99% of the time you'll never get to experience.
>that RMT that would try to join your party but was only wearing level 1 gear despite being 15+ and couldn't communicate with anyone because he only spoke chinese so the leader would kick him
>that girl gamer who actually seems to be competent and not blatantly "GAMERGURRRL" yet still manages to turn the entire groups' attention to her whenever she starts talking
Like we could have been talking about something else but when she enters everyone stops and start asking her about how her day was and shit
>That one guy with almost no presence until he leaves the guild and then people started talking about him
>That one guy who wasn't even a guild leader but more charismatic than the actual leader and actually gives a shit about the guild
>That one guy who wants to pretend to be a grill and always throws a fit at the guild for not saving his ass from the shit he gotten himself into
>that guy that has been playing forever and knows all stages of the game in and out
>tries to play with 4channers on private servers and becomes much more successful than the majority, but is disheartened to learn most of them are scrubs who don't want to work hard for anything and generally blow at the game
>not an attention whore so people in the inner circle don't recognize his skill
I am that guy in maplestory/ragnarok online. fffffuck 4chan when it comes to MMOs.
I find it funny how people who have been excluded socially would go ahead and do the exact same thing where they get the chance
It's like, take a look at yourselves for a second
It's why anything 4chan related just fails, these old vs new splits are just pathetic. Games, chatroom things like omegle/plug/tinychat, projects on any board ever... Every time you get the first few faggots on the scene ignoring anyone else as hard as they can do they don't lose their lofty place as that guy who was third to the new time waster
>That one guy who wasn't even a guild leader but more charismatic than the actual leader and actually gives a shit about the guild
>That one guy calls a falling out with the guild leader
>Starts his own guild
>Everybody jumps ship
>Less than a week in and it's horrible
>People slowly start crawling back to the original guild leader
>Everythings getting done again but tensions are high
>That one guy who brings up what happened just to see people flip their shit again
>that pvper who is hated by half and loved by the other half of the community because he literally wrecks everyone's shit all the time and reminds people of it every chance he gets
the rage cannot be contained
It's browser-based, which means I'm taking every measure possible to reduce the asset size, at least until long-term resource caching becomes more reliable. I'm not really planning voices outside of "UHN". It's meant to be a sandbox type thing anyway.
thanks 4 offer though
Alright. If MMOs are really all about endgame ok i guess i can accept that.
But why the is the player progression so absolutely awful?
Even korean grinding simulators you get like 3 different skills ever 4 levels or so that completely change your skill rotation
Then you learn to use those skills effectively and get another batch to switch things up and add to your overall abilities.
I dont mind getting 1 skill at all but autoattack may as well not exist in ffxiv and the game heavily relies on constantly using skills so it becomes this boring spam of 2 buttons which is simply not fun. Especially if you have no skills to look forward to that change the way you go about killing things.
Marauder was 10x more fun than summoner but i still suffers from the generaly awful combat. The first 2 skill you can combo were still the only consistently useful ones.
The game gave me a stun with a huge cooldown at some point which didnt really make a difference in terms of fun.
>those high ranked guild members who aren't even good at the role they play
>you don't call them out because you're on a new alt and it would look bad
>mfw I'm the grill gamer
One of my favorite things to do is not do my job (healer) and just talk/flirt with the other players. They always end up bitching at each other instead of me because they don't want to hurt my poor little feelings.
Not to mention all great stuff I can get without having to do much.
the fun things in maple and RO are killing bosses and you can't really do that without getting the stuff you need. Scrolls and gear and cards and whatnot, all of which take some finesse to acquire quickly. I helped people all the time with things that were easy enough to get, stuff like raydric cards and 4 slot clubs, or scrolls and pink adventurer capes. It's just that I wasn't the 5 or 6 people with the circlejerk you know?
people were always like "who wants to kill than" and I was like "I'll go" and I'd get no invite so that they could get some scrublord who didn't happen to have a +10 lunakaligo slotted with 3 abysmal knight cards on a monk you know?
wow damn dude you sound really cool i cant believe u dont get enough credit!!!
haha wow, good post. you got a steam? id love to talk to you more. No reason why really you just seem like a really interesting person haha. we could play some games too if youre into that but would be down just to talk to lol. got a coulple steam games just sitting in my inventory unused and you could have them if you want haha.. no big deal really i wasnt doing anything with them any way.. youd be doing me a favor taking them.. got natural selection 2.. magica.. arma 3.. really i dont even care about them please take them from me haha.. but really you seem like one of the few cool people who actually come to this site and id love to talk to u so whats your steam please? lol
>that one highranked guild member who has really good gear
>still can't do shit worth of dps
>you manage to beat him with blues
>call him out on it
it's actually a girl and you get kicked for disrespecting a guild member
One time when I was 12 me and another 12 year old friend were playing wow with a 20 something year old. He was kind of a cool guy that told me stories about how he fuck many girls. He didn't suspect I was 12 until I brought it up for some reason. Then he was ashamed that he had become friends with some kids online.
Like halfway between PVPer and Elitist, fighting people is my favorite but I enjoy skillful small scale PVE. PVP I don't enjoy that much unless i can duel, team battles aren't as fun.
>tfw my mmo group is average as fuck
>im the tryhard megadick who trys to rally everyone
>my roommate is a raging cunt who gets mad when the game gets rough
>pre-military memespouter who does well but seeks recognition from the more veteran players
>silent guy who plays well and only speaks up to crack a good joke
>anime nerd who doesn't really try but he's cool
>drug head who got a bit too fucked up on over the counter meds
>neet artist who only plays because it'll keep him "in" with our group
>gamer grill who only plays because of the druggy
>silent black guy, cracks good jokes and drops bars on teamspeak
I love these guys but when it's written down like this I honestly don't know how I ended up with such a rainbow of a crew.
This moment comes eventually to all people over the age of 20. There comes a moment when you meet someone you thought was fun only for it to turn out they are five years younger than you or more and you start questioning your life choices.
>mfw I was that tank
>mfw 24 people laughing at me in vent
>mfw I couldn't afford a reup
>tfw only log on once a week toraid with your shitty guild that cant kill the first boss in normal and youre one of the best players on the server
Usually i will do a pug on the weekend for gear
