>Playing a game
>Hear that one stock sound effect that gets you every time
>that splattery crunch sound effect for smashing corpses in source games
Loadout had both Wilhelm and Goofy screams if you fall off the level, among other, less notable screams.
The game was rife with personality but couldn't deliver on the gameplay longterm, for me.
>when that "waterfall tube-like" sound happens
was about to post that. first remember it from one of the early tycoon games, still hear it all the fucking time all these years later. hate that sound so much. its in tv commercials all the time
Pretty much every sound from Ocarina of Time and PSO
>mfw I actually land it
>those flying dino sounds
>dem flame sound effects
combined with that soundtrack always makeme diamonds
Fighting games are the best for great noises
>that fwuuuuuuuuuSHINK and satisfying bone crunch noises when you x-ray on MK
>Home Run Bat
>that UWAHHH... UWAHUWAHUWAHUWAH when you repeatedly hit someone on SoulCal
>That stock as fuck shotgun sound effect
It's used in everything. Half Life 2 is the most obvious, but I hear that noise in Fallout, Halo, old as fuck mods for obscure shareware games, hell, it's even in fucking Breaking Bad.
>The sound of sliding another slug into the port
>Every shotgun uses this sound
>Even the break-action ones
>watching Documentary on any war where guns were used
>hear AK from CS
This entire game has a bunch of them. It even starts with the Wilhelm scream right in the beginning. Let's also not forget about that staircase. You know the one.
Is there a name for that stock applause sound effect? I've heard it in so many shows but Lego Stunt rally's constant use of it was what made me be able to recognise it
I've tried searching for it so many times but can never find it since I don't know if it has a name like the wilhelm scream does
I don't know where it came from
but whenever someone takes out like a knife or a sword you get that
Oh man that game was THE shit.
I hate being using this word 'cause it's basically a buzzword at this point, but the night-time environments and their lighting were legitimately comfy.
Barney > Chip > Wrench > Lucky
The bear roar. Heard it first in Warcraft 3, I think, from the druids when they turned into a bear, then heard it again and again in World of Warcraft. Then I realized that it's used in almost every game that has a bear in it, as well as in movies and TV shows which include bears.
That sound effect of the guy screaming like YYYYUUUURRRRRAAAAAAHHHHHH gets me. Idk how to spell it but its hilarious to me
Heard it in Godzilla, Power Puff Girls, Spongebob, and Silent Hill 2 recently
The sound of pure agony.
turns out I was wrong on both counts.
it's not a stock scream, but the exact same Voldemort scream is used 6 times in a 2 minute trailer.
Name a series of sounds from vidya more satisfying than the noises Ramiel makes.
>Protip: You can't.
>Watching Hobbit 2 extended edition
>Big darkness cloud of Sauron
>Thrain: Tell Thorin that I love him
>Gandalf: You will tell him yourself!
>Thrain gets grabbed by darkness
I then turned off the movie.
>dragon age origin
>that sounds when mages hit their staff on the ground when casting Chain Lightning
Guys, if you can help me figure out this sound effect I'd appreciate it.
Basically, it's the one that plays every time a mech is introduced in a lighthearted manner. The best example that comes to mind is that Dexter's Lab episode, where the family goes full Voltron and there's that obligatory scene where the fucking thing poses and it's like "FWINGING"
It's my favorite sound effect to hear ever
They have incroporated the Wilhelm scream into every single LotR film and Hobbit film as a running joke.
You're obviously not as perceptive as you believe you are if you only caught it 5 films in.
this fucker death sound
"uwaaaaah", EVERY time there is a baby in a movie they use the sound.
I always hear the Camel sound effect from age of empires 2 everywhere, and its always the exact same sound effect as if only one person has ever recorded a camel before and only took a single recording.
GI Joe Arcade is my favorite for sound effects.
>the THOOM of the Laser Vipers
>the bottle rocket whistle when you shoot down a Condor
Best arcade game, best sound, give that man a raise.
The kid reminded me of DBZ every time used his baseball bat
>Far Cry 4
>honey badger chirping
>All of these things you cant find in time
The list goes on. Ajay is just a really unfortunate guy.
>at gas station
>cash register makes sound effect of picking up a ring in Sonic
>Mario Party 5
>Capsule machine noise
Surprisingly, Johnny Test is finally going to die in a fire.
But it's getting replaced with this. http://www.animationmagazine.net/tv/supernoobs-coming-to-teletoon-cartoon-network/
You can hear this shit on fucking NATURE SHOWS nowadays.
>the sound of sword clinging from Age of Empires II
>Watching a war documentary
>They use a stock explosion sound
>Can't take the documentary serious now
>Door latch opening
It's the same sound every time, regardless of game or movie or TV show or whatever.
>break a wooden box in S.T.A.L.K.E.R
>People being put off by the wilhelm scream
You fucking idiots, it's just a little nod, a wink and a nudge. 99% of people don't know what the wilhelm scream is and don't notice it when used repeatedly even in the same film, let alone across many films. It's there for you to notice.
However, I do agree with those who complain about its use at inappropriate moments. If it's meant to be a serious scene don't use a fucking wilhelm, use it on some mook elsewhere.
Every god damn sound effect from Banjo Kazooie. Especially the "wa-hey!" That every character makes when they are happy.
>playing any FPS game
>cutscene involving vehicle almost always involves the protagonist being knocked unconscious
>the critical hit *bink* sound effect when backstabbing in TF2
>documentary about bears
>a bear roars with the Bowser roar
>Watching political news in Ecuador this summer
> mfw MGS4 theme starts playing
THIS one pisses me off the most. It's used soooo god damn much in tv. Can we all just agree to retire this sound?
My first sighting: Aaah! Real Monsters!
>...I'm not the only one.
Also how about Bowser and Jurassic Park T-rex's roars? They take up about 86.928% every roar in everything. Sometimes in combination.
>watching the news while I cook
> the opening theme for the sport segment is the FFx-2 boss theme
>In-game stock sci-fi door opening sounds and pipe sounds and electronic beeping sounds that instantly transport you to a specific moment in at least a few late '90s science fiction TV shows
>Someone throws something
>hear clang of trash cans
Fuck I would hear this in cartoons all the time, can't find it on YouTube. Any games that do this?
That one "getting hurt grunt" I think they use in Old School Mortal Kombat even.
>the stock elephant sound
>the stock horse sound
>the stock any animal ever sound
Reloading guns like AKs and pump shotguns really trigger my autism because more often than not they're stock sound effects.
You know the kind.
>crowd cheering stock sound effect
>Watching a documentary on the secret service
>This starts playing
I thought I was hearing things.
>student shows a presentation on WW2
>MGS4 theme playing in the background as he commentates
>trying to hide my power level
I'm really enjoying it, it's easier than the Souls series in some regards, like you get a lot more checkpoints throughout the levels. But one big thing that I noticed is that it's quite difficult to tell the distance between you and the enemy/estimate the reach of your weapon. Maybe I have to play more but it happened quite a couple of times that I just wildly flailed at the air between the enemy and I.
Oh and it looks just stunningly good.
>hacking a computer in vidya
>character just presses random keys really fast
damn whoever did the sound design for that was at the top of their game.
idk if we're still talking about good sound effects, but this is one of the best
not vidya but whatev
>buy something at cornerstore
>sonic_ring_sound_effect.wav plays when your cashier uses the register
>watching Trigun one of the first episode
>some cow-like beasts make the zombie sound
the one at 11 seconds or so https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZS1TQKe_D18
Speaking of sound, there is a mod to add the sound that was given for the playstation and appeared even in the Nintendo 64 version, they are quite nice.
God damn even if is a shitty youtube stream my hair stood up and I literally shed a tear, motherfucking Gurren Lagann.
>watching that new shitty Robin Hood movie
>stock baby sound effect is the same one from the beginning of Fallout 3
>giant crow in Dark Souls makes a Nazgul noise
>the screams in Oolacile are from the last Harry Potter movie
not vidya but
>suggested by crysknife007: Ambient scifi sleep sounds playlist
>watching a discovery channel documentary about the romans
>suddendly Red alert 2 music
I cant find the damn piece, is the one with the tum tum like boots (not hell march) which then goes to a guitar riff.
For me it would have to be the wilhelm scream.
Every fucking time I heard it I couldn't help but atleast snicker.
pic related is one of the more prominent examples, certain bandits do it when they die but it's been fucking everywhere even star wars games. and ever time I can't take it seriously.
>Walking in wilderness
I suspect some crazed or overpaid poor guy once recorded a bear noped the fuck out and ever since audio engineers vowed to never try that again.
>watching pawn stars
>they go to a firing range
>this starts playing
I've heard it in commercials too
The sound effects in that show are GOD tier
>it starts getting accurate
>more of the enemy army slowly gets closer to your lineup of mirrors
AAAAAH AAAAAH AAAAHAAAAH CHICHICHICHICH AAAAAAH AAAAHCHICHICHICH
>every single fictional/fantasy small/baby animal in games and shows has the same baby bear cries
>EEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EH EH EH EEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
>loons are everywhere, on every planet, in every dimension
>so are kookaburras
>that god-damned red-tailed hawk screech comes out of every type of bird-of-prey ever shown onscreen
>creaky door opening sound seared into my brain because of how often you go through doors
>hear that shit everywhere
>His down taunt in Brawl
All of the grunts enemies make when they get shot in Goldeneye, used to make me laugh because of how shitty the faces looked with permanent shit eating grins with noises like these coming out of them
>that one thread from /b/ where the guy hacked a security camera in a catholic school classroom and played this over the built in camera speakers
my sides havent stopped orbiting the moon
>playing pic related
> get to chrome gadget act 2
>big ads slope you have to traverse accross, one of the only platforming sections of the game
>some of the platforms move back and forth
>when they move, they make the same sound as the ghosts from sandopolis zone of S3&K
>immidiately think the ghosts are coming back
I guess this is as good a thread as any to mention this.
So i used to play a dickload of Warlords battlecry 2 and recently, years after playing it for the last time, my sister was playing some $2 shitty shovelware beauty and the beast game.
My fucking face when i hear https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PiUgycUNFJo coming from that game.
