>>285452245 I love the lore and enjoy theorising about it (Game Theory has done a couple great videos on it too), funny thing is i've never played the games myself and honestly don't want to, it's just a shitty jump scare game.
>>285453464 A series this small and simple, it's necessary to hold up any kind of popularity and sales. If 2 were released not 5 months after the first, nobody would care and it would be considered stale across the board.
If the dev wasn't solo and probably as broke as the rest of us beforehand, it wouldn't be ignored.
>>285452245 >What even attracts people to this game anyway? >le cute but eeeevil animatronic characters >chika/foxy are so sexy!! >muh retarded shipping >creepypasta so spooky XDD >HEY [insert popular, facecam clown LPer here] played this spooky games, those faces so funny/cute XD
You know, those kind of idiots. Fanartists also are part of the problem, but people always underestimate the influence power of artists.
>>285454304 >Just saying what you do in it's simplest terms to try and make it sound bad
Hey, I can do that too! Let's play a little guessing game why don't we: >All you do is move forward with scary girls occasionally attacking you >All you do is break boxes and collect apples >All you do is shoot guns and complain about your dead wife
All of a Sudden /v/ hates FNaF wow what a shock >>Original Freddy comes out and /v/ loves it >>tons of threads of how originul and how it dus horror right >>game starts to get popular among the mainstream >>Sequel comes out and /v/ like always is afraid to be part of the mainstream so to be special and feed their inferiority complex they start hating on it >>Game explodes onto mainstream, everyone loves it except /v/ who start to hate it more and more to rebel like the hipster they are >> 3rd one is out and now we just a bunch of preemptive nitpicks from hipsters trying to feel superior >>why you do this /v/ happened with skyrim and minecraft, you all loved those games till they got too popular
>>285454681 Would it matter? You'd just do what ever /v/ faggot does and green text them all then give simple retarded statements about them despite if you have even played them or witnessed them being played or not.
Dungeon Siege II is under $7 Battleblock Theater is $10 EYE Cybermancy is $10 F.E.A.R is $10
>>285455264 >$$$$$$ bait How do you define a game by this anyway? He made an original game, and it got popular. The goal of any company is to turn a fucking PROFIT. At least he actually put in effort into changing the core gameplay of the sequels, opposed to just leaving it the exact same with maybe a couple more nights slapped on.
Why is it /v/ will complain about LITERALLY anything as long as it's popular?
>>285455919 >greedy jewish person Well there goes any actual argument you were trying to put across. Still, here goes...
>>people hate CoD for yearly releases with the sole purpose of getting as much cash as they can from dudebros and children And that is because CoD doesn't change enough of its content with each annual release despite its shear size. For a company such as Activision/Infinity Ward which makes so much fucking money out of CoD alone, they should really be changing more things with each game. But they don't.
Scott on the other hand, actually has changed shit, and a fair amount of shit given the time. Hell, he's been working non-stop on it so much to an extent where both FNaF2 & 3 were released prematurely due to how fast he was getting them done. No point in releasing the games 6 months apart from each other when he's made enough changes between instalments in 3.
>>285456747 1 was just meh. It's scares never made me jump because the animatronics just looked silly.I guess it could be good if you're harboring a childhood fear of Chuck E Cheese mascots, but since I live in Canada and as such have never even been, I don't have such burdens.
>>285456759 Mechanics are pretty decent and the jumpscares legitimately get me. Out of a horror game as simple as this I can't ask for much more.
>Five nights >good lore That's like saying "The _____ and____went to _____" Is a good sentence just because it has so many fucking holes you can fill it with whatever the fuck you want. This being said, its just a little cheap game to play for a couple of hours and that's it.
>>285457595 Isn't that why lore is good? Isn't that why humans are so interested in history, both of our species and the universe we reside in? Because it's not all spelled out for us and requires us to figure it out?
I realize comparing the studying of history to vidyer gaem lore is slightly stupid, but the same sort of intrigue in it is there.
It's le spoopy youtube trash. Kids on youtube/twitch like to watch their favorite "online personalities" scream and make funny faces and pretend to be scared. I've seen maybe 5 minutes of it and that was enough. It's shit.
This has been going on for a few years. Slenderman, SCP, etc.
>Only one new animatronic. >Gameplay is even more simplified. >Jumpscares don't even kill you anymore, just inconvenience you for a second. >All other animatronics are just hallucinations! IE they have black eyes. >Just go to the computer and make sure systems aren't offline.
>>285455083 It's not a problem of hating it suddenly because it's popular it's because over exposure to something regardless if you like it or not can develop feelings of disgust. take the movie frozen for example.
The tension is heightened because there's no clear path to preventing the new animatronic from sodomizing your ass. Freddy 1: close the door. Freddy 2: flash lights or put mask on. Freddy 3: Play a sound and maybe he fucks off?
>>285452245 >What even attracts people to this game anyway? It's a personal thing. A lot of people can relate to being just a little bit freaked out by those old robots and costumes. Maybe not as a kid as much but definitely as a young adult - adult. The setting of the first two games were very compelling settings as no game, or even movies to an extent really played on this fear. On a surface level the gameplay of the games is also pretty compelling, tracking robots and managing resources to make sure they don't get you. While the first two games were exploited into doing the same task over and over but just really fast the third might have the better gameplay of the group. However it's only been out for a day and I'm sure in a week we'll have the exploit that will make it just as mindless as usual.
