post a picture of the rarest video game you own
lets make each other jelly
A signed copy of Super Mario 64. signed by Charles martinet (does not have my name on it, it says "thanks for playing my game!!" and his autograph
Not my picture but it's probably the rarest game I own. That's not saying much.
I hear Ogre Battle 64 is hard to come by
also a cat
i have a japanese ogre battle 64
its worthless compared to the english one
Not exactly a game but is it the rarest game related item I own.
Nah, there'll be more than enough. But then it'll probably become like Ocarina of Time 3D or Starfox 3D when they were discontinued where they go up in price dramatically. I don't understand, it's always Nintendo products that that happens to.
god dammit i want that red classic controller so bad. i have the gold one
rarest i own despite it not actually being that rare.
The only thing that makes it rarer than most games is it is a japan only title with online instead of the asia version with no online
wish i could have found an original copy instead of a THE BEST but i just wanted to play the game not stare at the case
not really rare but apparently the limited edition set of Wind Waker still sells for a decent amount
also substitute plush for good measure
All my PS1 games (which I guess PS1 games aren't really that rare) are packed up at the moment because I've decorated, so I can't take a picture, but is the PAL Monster Rancher rare?
In game related but not games things, this.
This game is like 50 bucks loose. How in the hell? I swore it was like 25 bucks last year, and that was smack dab in the middle of the retro bubble.
You would also think that with the release of MM3D, it would get cheaper.
ebay. It was temporarily restocked in Pokemon Centers in Japan earlier this year so I made sure to find a good seller to buy it from while it was still cheap and available.
no idea about the connection to Whimsicott, probably related to the anime or the fact that Prankster + Substitute is good (?).
As I was moving out and packing up a lot of things, I finally found my lost Zelda collector's edition.
Substitute is easily one of my favorite moves to teach to my 'mons. I love doing draining moves while hiding behind a substitute. One of my favorite battle combinations. Cool plush.
Yeah, I was surprised to see that the cartridge by itself can make some decent money on Ebay, but with a near-new box and manual, it can fetch up to $200. I'm pretty much relying on this to fund my retirement.
According to the Hyrule Historia, it's under "Rare and Elusive games", and the only other game under that section was The Legend of Zelda BS, which was a Satellaview title, so it can actually be owned in physical form unless it's a repro.
But sources show that the game itself only sells for about 60 bucks, with a pinch of fluctuation.
everytime i see this i want to die a little inside because i didnt buy it when it was 100 dollars on ebay a billion years ago
for some reason all the pokedoll plushes of substitute have a picture of whimsicott on them. this is because its almost like whimsicotts signature move in the anime.
weird they didnt use greninja
Dude, my mum bought this game for me from EB back in 2000 when MM was released. You think I'm lying? That I paid money for a reproduction so I can parade it around on a Mozambican leather embroidering board for e-cred?
It's not particularly common, especially complete. $100ish these days probably. I always feel bad about keeping shit that's worth money because I honestly don't care about collecting. Got a pikanipples on launch for $150 but it kept going up in price so I sold it for $320 and bought a 2DS when they came out.
The NTSC version states 'Collector's Edition'. As you can see, this is not an NTSC version, but a PAL version, meaning that your narrow preconceptions about what an original Majora's Mask box should say are fucking wrong.
There was a time in 2008 when I bought the limited editions of games. I own Fallout 3, MGS4, and GTA4's limited editions respectively. I doubt they're worth anything, but the Fallout 3 bobblehead is nice, at least.
I let a friend borrow this and never got it back.
I used to do this too until I realised that having a collector's edition sitting around taking up way more room than a game needs to was more of a pain in the ass than it was worth.
It's a purportedly decent game that only came out in Japan because NoA was afraid of releasing something that couldn't be broadly marketed. It's a purely violent action game, after all, and you know how much Americans hate violence. It also had a story with text and voice acting, which mean it would actually cost money to localize, so that was the final nail in that coffin. Were it coming out today I think NoA would give it a chance, they've been much more adventurous as of late, but back then they didn't give a flying fuck and didn't have to, the Wii printed money no matter how few good games it had.
I still see mass amounts of them in stores.
Okay heres the pal box?
I used to buy collectors editions when I could. My shelf is so cluttered, got blazblue calamity trigger collectors edition with the two controller faceplates, avp3 collectors edition with the facehugger toy, fear 3 collectors edition with the alma statue, steins gate collectors edition with the lab member badges, bioshock 2 collectors edition with the soundtrack vinyl and the art book, halo reach collectors edition with the statue of the characters and the art/info book thingy and the special box, arcana heart 3 collectors edition with the artbook and art/combo cards, blazblue continuum shift collectors edition with artbook and combo art cards, blazblue chronophantasma collectors edition with rachel figurine and artbook.
mostly a waste of money but the physical stuff is pretty cool in my opinion
Not exactly rare, or shockingly valuable, but the highest prices on eBay go to these.
I'm wondering how the last story will go, it'll either become a sought after gem or no one will give a shit.
Are there really any 'rare' games from the last generation, considering scale of production?
I turn off all my plug sockets before I go to work because of this. I have £3000 ( on the used resale market )worth of comic books which causes me infinite stress. Thinking of getting them insured.
its what nintendo burns their beta games on to bug test
I thought I was the only one who had a yellow Gameboy Camera, Gameboy Printer, AND an EReader. Want to be friends? I still have a few unopened rolls of printing paper that we can share.
These 2 might be rare or expensive on eBay now. I've got a lot more I could show but these are the only ones I can think of on my shelf besides the typical Earthbound cart.
It's one of the best games on the GBA.
If you like Treasure games anyway (you should)
REMINDER THAT "4" IS A PISS FETISHIST ARAB MUDSLIME NAMED AMEER MANSOUR
HE E-DATED A TRANNY TOO
HE CHARGED AUTOSTS FOR MOD ON A SITE HE DIDNT EVEN OWN SO HE COULD HAVE TO FUNDS TO BIY ALL THIS PLASTIC USELESS SHIT
FUCK OFF AMEER
It's only rare because it's the german version, which was "banned" right after release.
nice. i got a bunch of not for resale 3ds games thanks to this chinese dude.
he sold them to me for 5 bucks a piece
ocarina of time not for resale, pilotwings not for resale, starfox not for resale, and dead or alive not for resale.
they all have the DEMO NOA stickers on the back too
all the pokemon rpgs factory sealed and never opened must be worth something right guys
threw it away
yeah he does, i heard you could even ship him something and he'd sign it for you and ship it back
pokemon green never came out sealed. all game boy games in japan never had plastic wrap around them because no one in japan steals
anyway its impossible to find a brand new pokemon green because it doesn't exist. but i do have pokemon green, pic related
The American version of oot 3d goes for a lot now, it's also the only thing I value that I have ever since my dad gave my signed new Vegas collectors edition to goodwill by accident
I have the case but not the game. I sold it to the local shop and forgot to bring the case along.
I might get the game again one day since the cart is cheap and easy to come by.
I have 2 copies of Tombi 2, which is fairly rare, but I think my copy of Herzog Zwei is my rarest game.
The sticker is sadly on the cover slip, so I can't remove it.
Hmm, I just checked the prices, and you are right. The first few auctions on Ebay for Herzog Zwei are for roughly 40 euros, and for Tombi around 90.
I should really check out the prices for the rest of my collection one of these days.
i threw it away when i was a kid. still doesnt lower the value by much
besides the disc is only like 30 bucks the gameboy player isnt even that rare
>Mario GBA E-Reader cards.
My official GBAcart has all the levels installed.
jack bros is literally right there. why does everyone think im missing jack bros when i post this picture. its the first thing there
Signed by Jun Sunoe, I guess that makes it rare?
We talking rare gamecube games now?
At work so no pictures, but the rarest game i own in terms of how many actually exist is Class of Heroes 2 (PSP) they only printed 2500. rare in terms of being expensive and hard to find would be probably my complete copy of Hagane Final Conflict (SNES)
No zelda games are rare (except for the yellow nes test carts, and GBC collectors), even NFR carts are relatively common, (they sent them to 10000+ retailers)
The one on the Gamecube was actually really fun.
I bought it because they we're having a sale at Gamestop.
Walked in with $30 and walked out with it, Geist, and Donkey Konga and an extra set of bongo's.
This is a longshot but is there any way you have a action replay or something where ypu could upload your save file? Ive always wanted to play all the e-reader levels but could never get the japanese level cards
I don't even know how rare this is. But it's the only real thing I could count as rare I suppose.
the nfs games are sent to stores, etc for use in promo displays
after thats done they usually just go in the trash if the company doesnt require that theyre sent back, its against store policy (and the law) to just throw them in with the used games
usually its employees of those places that get em
>no sega saturn games
when it comes to rare games, sega saturn is chock full of it.
and no i dont have panzer dragoon saga =( which is probably second to the most valuable game out there (nintendo world championship)
probably the rarest game I own. Dunno how rare it really is, probably no that rare
Is Blazing Dragons for the PS1 rare? If it is, then that. I can't say I've seen it anywhere else at least.
>tfw have the box and cant find the disc and its most likely gone
kirby no kira kira kids factory sealed has gotta be like 200-300 dollars
the holy trinity of club nintendo prizes
this, i got this when i was 8. Now im 22, the feels
its the demo.
some dude from china gave it to me for 5 dollars. he had 10. i could have bought like 10 of them. i only got 1 though im a retard
Posting some OC.
I WarioWare for $10, Eternal Poison sucks. Sorry about the Gameboy SP gore.
Some of those Majoras Mask 3DS's will have the same fate.
only 15k made in the entire world. Get fukt.
I have no idea what I have that's rare, but judging from what was posted in this thread I have the gameboy player and I have the zelda collector's edition. Also pretty sure I have an early version of metroid prime but idk which one.
I wish I had an actual copy of Einhander
i remember getting that game for free as a kid and selling it to gamestop for 5 dollars when i got bored of it.
i have it again thanks to a friend, but this time im missing the manual
It's 14, ORAS isn't pictured and I'm guessing we're not going to count JP Red and Green as separate entries.
I still wish they gave more time between X/Y and ORAS. X/Y could've really used more polish and I hear the same things about ORAS.
I got the Earthbound cartridge from a friend who was nice enough to gift it to me. I don't know if the other two are very rare.
because they are factory sealed. i never opened them
Oh and I have MP Trilogy in the metal tin. Have the t-shirt but I donated the poster to my local retro shop because I had to move and was feeling depressed. The guy that works there was gonna frame it and put it in his house
I bet nobody from /v/ owns a STALKER: SoC collectors edition.
Pokemon Box: Ruby & Sapphire (kind of useless now though)
Pokemon Colosseum Bonus Disc w/ Jirachi
Legend of Zelda Wind Waker Bonus Disc (with OoT and MasterQuest)
Legend of Zelda Promotional Disc (with the four games)
That's about it in terms of rarity and possible value.
dunno if this game is rare, most likely not, at least anywhere outside of the USA
When the game came out there was a liscense or some shit disagreement so basically if you didnt buy the game the first week it was out you was fucked cause none of the stores got restocked, later it went down in value alot cause of the digital version that came out for the ps3 and xbox360 but its still like 60+
I own a copy of SOTN Europe collectors edition. Unfortunately its no way near mint condition, an its in my parents house atm :3333333333333333333333
I have a broken headless ROB.
I saw my neighbors daughter smashing him on the floor. Told her to give it to me for $3.
>mfw I have this
>mfw playing the n64 games with the gc controller.
last story is kind of iffy.
The game is meh, but since not a lot of copies
Flippers will likely put a high price regardless.
But the game isn't all that tho.
Keep the Xeno close to your chest or lockit up in a ziplock bag if if you store it somewhere.
Also for the rest of you who collect.
What's the highest price you payed for an item?
Do you dislike remasters or HD version that come out?
Do you have your collection items insured?
How and where do you store your valued items?
