>Space Sim Elite Dangerous Coming To Xbox One As Console Exclusive This Summer
THANKS FOR LITERALLY BETA TESTING PCUCKS
Ah. This makes me happy. I wonder how they'll manage to simplify the controls down to a single gamepad, or if they will employ kinect.
In any case, consoles don't get enough space flight games, so this is good news.
The game already controls quite well with a 360 pad, the interface is laid out in a very menu based way.
Still... I'm not sure that it's the right sort of game for a console audience. It literally tells you nothing. You just start, on a platform in space, in the worst ship in the game (arguably).
I actually own this game. It's kinda meh. An xbox could certainly run it and pretty well too since it's a pretty simple game. Honestly I feel like it needs to be deeper. There's only one way to make money and the ships are basically a different HUD with some altered stats, you never really get to see them completely.
Still waiting for star citizen though. I doubt it will be everything that was promised and I know it will be released in 2078 but it will be deeper at least.

> no Xbots on /v/, or at least any who would admit to it
> sonyggers pretending to be Xbots purely to shitpost mustards
This place really is going downhill
Real talk. This game is shit. The community is a bunch of ass blasted teenagers worrying about feelings and believing in the Vision. The devs are incompetent, do not listen to beta testers warning of game breaking bugs, and are funneling all proceeds of ED to their passion project: another rollercoaster tycoon game.
Avoid like the plague.
Honestly, who the fuck cares. Exclusivity is only harmful to gamers. If you think exclusivity is a good thing you're an idiot. The only reason I can see to keep something on pc only for instance is because it just wouldn't work well on a gamepad, like rts.

Its ok when console users do it.
But it's not ok when PC users same the same fucking thing about console games being ported to PC.
How does that work?
>don't release the game on GOG and Steam like it was initially promised in the kikestarter, and lose shitload of potential customers because of it
>now they have to settle for console market
>finally get my copy of Elite: Dangerous for my Xbox One
>pop it in
>can hardly contain my hype
>start hearing weird noises
>must be my faggot neighbors
>I start flying my rectangle through space
>shitting myself with fun
>find a cube
>cube starts shooting at me
>I shoot back with my rectangle
>noise I heard earlier is louder now
>fuck off I'm killing this cube
>xbox catches on fire
>fire already spread throughout the living room
>house burning down
>still best $60 I've ever spent
No, star citizen will be a shitty FPS with a bunch of shitty mini-games that hardly anyone will play. They are letting people choose between FPS and flying spaceship, in the long run people are going to prefer the FPS segments.
>playing Elite Dangerous without an Oculus or soon to be Vive
No thanks, I don't like having to pretend that my spaceship captain is a wheelchair bound quadriplegic with a static view out the front window.
Was to be expected, given the gamepad friendly UI. It never felt like it was made to be played with a mouse.
Then again nobody cares about the console release as it won't go anywhere. Game needs updates, they have to release a ton of patches before it's anywhere near interesting.
It's died without another one made for days at a time. We've dropped from hundreds of unique ips to a few dozen. Wings might bring some back. I haven't touched ED for a week, myself.
Gross. Kill yourself.
Also, that sucks. Wings plus the chat updates will definitely bring some back. Even if it's just a few, I'd rather have a few in a general than no general at all. Maybe I'll dig up the OP info later and make a new one.
>Also, what the hell happened to the general on /vg/?
It died about a hundred times before nobody posted it again. There's not enough interest in the game to keep a general going and then there's SC shitposting ruining every thread.
The patch you mentioned also isn't anywhere near enough. They are just adding basic multiplayer components like being able to play with friends properly - that should have been included for an always-online game to begin with. There's so much more missing. Factions need to expand properly - there's 400 billion systems and only a few thousand are occupied by anyone. Those community tasks like "bring 1000 units of cheap shit from far away" are neither exiting, nor rewarding. Faction ranks don't lead anywhere meaningful.
3 monitor setup works well for me. I have DK1 and its uncomfortable as fuck after an hour or two. Also, you can't see your HOTAS with a rift on. It's pretty annoying having to feel for switch position, especially in combat.
I'd much rather use trackir or multidisplay setups.
>how to save a dying game
>release it on dead console
>The patch you mentioned also isn't anywhere near enough. They are just adding basic multiplayer components like being able to play with friends properly - that should have been included for an always-online game to begin with.
I agree with you 100%; the game is still unfinished and kind of shitty because of it, but a part of me is just relieved they're finally adding it, you know?
That joke only works for PCfags. Their version is better. If anything you guys are retroactively beta testing it for PCfags.
In any case, enjoy it faggots. I don't care much for exclusivity but I know consolefags love them.
Maybe they'll actually get enough money to finish it properly. I aint buying it until it has decent progression stuff, and i wont feel like im playing an ios grindfest game for the sake of grinding.
I say nothing is lost.
Enjoy the boring gameplay, the shallow galaxy, the endless grind, the weekly updates, the cancerous community, and the completely shitty controls because no one managed to play this on a 360 controller so far, there simply isn't enough buttons on it.
