>At the end of 2014, Nintendo had about $7.8 billion in cash and cash equivalents, using the current exchange rate
>According to GameIndustry, while Capcom has been able to generate a profit, their bank account only has $152,000,000, as many of their games have underperformed, like Resident Evil 6 and DMC: Devil May Cry. To put that into perspective, Nintendo has made roughly the same amount in profits alone.
Should Nintendo buy Capcom?
Hmm... hard to say. I think Nintendo could definitely improve Capcom so yeah probably. Capcom only has a couple good IPs that haven't been run into the ground. However, Nintendo could revitalize old IPs and make lots of bucks.
>Release new proper Megaman Game
>Only on Wii U
I'm not sure there would be space to a lot of Capcom's franchise as Nintendo exclusives, so if they bought the company and their IPs, it could lead to poor sales for shit like SF, DmC and such.
That said, I think Mega Man would be perfect in Ninty's hands. Smash alone treats Mega Man better than Capcom has treated him in the last 10 years.
>mfw having to sit through Arin Hanson whining about how it doesn't explain things well enough while simultaneously whining about how it's too hand-holdy
>Should Nintendo buy Capcom?
Buying and restructuring a company as big as Capcom (Which is not making that much money also because it keeps building more internal development studios for next gen) would cost much more much time, money and effort to be cost effective. They'd lose money in the following fiscal year guaranteed. Plus a shit load of people would lose their jobs.
It's not happening.
Eh, just let them make another Classic Mega Man game as a successor to Mega Man 10, but in HD while keeping his Smash-esque appearance.
Make the Mega Man amiibo compatible with it, and boom. It writes itself.
Guys I want to buy Tipping Fedoras to show Nintendo cross-buy is a very good thing to keep doing but I don't know if $22 Canadabux is worth it.
Is it? It's digital only so it's not like I'm missing out on a physical version either.
>Smash alone treats Mega Man better than Capcom has treated him in the last 10 years.
Oh man, Nintendo could do such cool things with Megaman. I don't really see them handling pretty much any of the other franchises though, but I could be wrong.
>as many of their games have underperformed, like Resident Evil 6
+ 5 million is underperforming only in the eyes of Capcom or Square Enix.
What was the last Nintendo game that had those sales? What was the last CONSOLE Nintendo game that had those sales?
Street Fighter would probably thrive due to only having to develop on one platform at a time, reducing development costs and lowering the sales numbers necessary for profit.
I think the bigger issue would be Nintendo having a fuckhuge group of new employees and studios to restructure. What do you do with the divisions that dealt with optimizing multiplats?
Crapcom is dead and buried. It needs to just roll over and die already and let the remains get picked over by liquidators.
Integrate in other teams, its mpre likely zhat they will lack workforce instead of having too many. If this would ever happen there would be a huge group of people leaving the company as it always happens, this is also why nintendo never took over a company that didnt want to be taken over.
Nintendo margins are different, they don't even try to sell a lot. It's pathetic.
>Yeah but we made money
Who cares, you made like 1/10th of the sales of an average Sony/Microsoft game.
No. Capcom itself is cancer. They need to buy their IPs and the rights to MT frameworks.
The monhun team and their better engineers should be kept though. Senior management absokutely not
>According to GameIndustry, while Capcom has been able to generate a profit, their bank account only has $152,000,000, as many of their games have underperformed, like Resident Evil 6 and DMC: Devil May Cry.

Gee, I wonder why they only have $152million
>Capcom investing around $80m into two new R&D buildings
>Capcom announced it's spending approximately 8 billion yen, which converts to just under $79 million, on two new research and development buildings located near its head office in Osaka. The investment is part of Capcom's ongoing focus to make more of its development internal and centralized with the aim of making higher quality games at lower costs. Work on the smaller eight-floor building began in May 2013, shortly after Capcom announced a $73 million special loss on game cancellations following what the Japanese company called an "excessive" outsourcing of projects overseas.
TL;DR - This is a bait thread, but no one is going to bother looking up or verifying OP's bullshit. You all just want a reason to bitch.
NSMB, Smash, Mario Kart,
Honestly, Nintendo keeps their money real tightly managed. One of their C-list franchises like Fire Emblem only needs to sell 250,000 to be considered viable on the 3DS.
Of course, with that in mind, I do find it rather funny that Monolith Soft considers Nintendo the most generous publisher in terms of budgeting when it came to making its Xeno- games.
It would almost make me wonder what kind of ridiculous chewing gum-and-a-prayer budget Namco and Square gave them for Xenogears and Xenosaga, except that I've played them and you can tell what they were working with.
They would suffer shorterm due to having to restructure, but they wouldn't have nearly as glaring software droughts ever again. They would also forever secure a very large portion of the Japanese demographic from MonHun being a permanent exclusive.
Honestly, as long as some incarnation of it comes out in arcades, which Nintendo has proven amenable to(see F-Zero or Mario Kart), and they get some fight sticks made, life would go on.
Nah, FGC will follow Street Fighter around like a lost puppy.
Also it puts SF and Smash on the same platform for the first time ever. TOs who run both certainly wouldn't be complaining.
You didn't answer the question, what the fuck is your point?
That "DURR you wouldn't understand" shit is just a cop-out because you don't even know what you're getting at.
If a game like Resident Evil 6 sells 5 million copies and somehow that still means it underperformed, then something went seriously wrong with the budget management.
You are fucking retarded.
I imagine you also think that if a game sells a million copies during Steam sales in which it was 75% off, developers and publishers would still be just as happy because IT SOLD A MILLION COPIES.
Context IS important, it's not fucking hard to understand. There is nothing wrong with selling fewer copies if according to the budget you still end up making a profit.
Microsoft actually has an in house developer in Japan. They're the folk who developed Phantom Dust. Zenimax also owns Tango Gameworks, who is Japanese.
All it takes is that they have a sizable Asian or Japanese branch, which Microsoft does.
>Megaman stays in Smash as 1st or 2nd-Party
>Arthur, Nemesis, and Viewtiful Joe could make it in too
>Possible revisits to Megaman Battle Network, Ghosts n' Goblins, and VJ
>Get to hear SFag and PC Mustard Race butthurt when the series moves over to Wii U exclusively
I fucking need this.
nintendo is desperate for exclusives and capcom for easy money deals. why aren't nintendo published megaman games on 3DS and wii u happening?
is there any other company in video game history that has as many dead and untapped IPs as capcom?
This is the only bad thing I can see about Capcom being bought by Nintendo. Doesn't mean that it's necessarily the wrong choice, but right now there's only a handful of Wii U games that actually sell by a fuckton, exclusive or not. Only games that would see such high sales would be on the 3DS, as is with 4U, unless people start buying Wii U's left and right.
posting anime image solely letting you know you're a moron
>if they bought the company and their IPs, it could lead to poor sales for shit like SF, DmC and such.
That better be your finger being too tired to capitalize the M else I'm about to bust some heads
Yes, Nintendo needs to purchase Capcom so all of their franchises stay on garbage hardware instead of moving to PC.
I don't even know why I come to this shitty ass board, you people are fucking retarded.
>just let them make another Classic Mega Man game as a successor to Mega Man 10, but in HD while keeping his Smash-esque appearance
I hope somebody has been working on something like this since the 3DS models have already been ripped. At least a recreation of the Yellow Devil fight since he already has assets too.
>Lets buy this company that makes mature IPs for our kiddie system that hasn't even sold past 9 million in three years
my sides. nintendrones are the worst.
Oh, so that's why toddlers want them to be bought by Nintendo, I figured they may have had an actual reason that would've benefitted their IPs. Guess I shouldn't have such high hopes.
I'd like to thank Paul Allen.
I'm not talking about Nintendo exclusively, you are the one who is bent on making this about some dumb console war bullshit.
I'm more interested in pointing out that sales numbers always need context and that thinking otherwise is fucking retarded.
>Suddenly Nintendo owns the rights to Megaman, where they can bring back the great MM series and even make MML3
>Nintendo also owns the rights to all of the Clover Studios games, allowing Okami 2, God Hand 2, and even a new Viewtiful Joe game to be developed by P*
>DMC will finally get the new game it deserves
>Dragon's Dogma 2 may become a reality
If Nintendo bought Capcom, it would be fucking heaven.
>implying SF didn't already get its big limelight time
>not reading the greentext right above the butthurt thing
It's almost like you're cherrypicking for things to keep your opinion on a high horse.
Please stay mad SFdrone.
>The Wii U was also sold at a loss when it first launched in 2012, atypical for Nintendo consoles.
The tablet controller was one of the biggest blunders in history.
Almost as bad as the PS3
They managed to sell a console with 10 year old tech at a loss.
The irony is amazing. I mean I play on PC primarily but Wii U has the only exclusives worth buying at all.
Even look at the total release schedule for the entire year.
Sony blew their load with The Order and Bloodborne and the Order tanked tremendously.
I don't even know what Xbox is doing because they've been suffering so bad market-wise to 20 million PS4s sold.
Unless you're just saying all the consoles in gen 8 don't have many games, which is kind of true but Wii U has a handful at least.
I am not sure why that guy wants others to suffer, but I would assume people want Nintendo to buy them out because Nintendo is desperate for IP's and games. Desperate enough to make a game after they get the IP's and not let them rot. The Wii U needs something, so what better way to get fans interested then offer them games that they enjoyed in the past.
That's the Nintendo business model : Offer you something you have tried and liked, but in a different place and a new coat of paint.
That's just because only 3 games so far has actually tried. Nintendo wouldn't mind if Idea Factory/Compile Heart put a Neptunia game on the Wii U, it's just that IF/CH hasn't done it yet.
>The console thats been out longer has more exclusives
No shit drone. Looks like Nintendo is the ones that blew their load. Literally NO GAMES for the future.
>DMC being in Nintendos hands
>Platinum being firendly with Nintendo
>DMC5 developed by Hideki Kamiay
I triggered you nigger, no trigger was bigger
My trigger had vigor to spare, yours lacked all rigor
Listen here you chigger infested nigger, you're pig tier
Now leave nigger, get back to being a ditch-digger
Guess that's what I get for prioritizing games over sales. Neogaf sure told me today.
>No games for the future
By the time the worthwhile exclusives for the other 2 drop there will likely be a new Nintendo console. In the meantime all the good 3rd party comes right to PC, thanks to Japs realizing they make more money with cross-platform and also the architecture on the PS4/Xbone being similar to a 2012 PC.
What's interesting is that if you took away all the garbage 3rd party stuff that EA/Activision and Ubisoft choke out, the other consoles would have similiar release schedules. Nintendo can't hide behind that many titles off the e-shop because they have less 3rd party support.
>2nd class citizen
Meanwhile PC has
>full graphics, not the downgraded blur consoles get
Patience is a virtue my friend
>At the end of 2014, Nintendo had about $7.8 billion in cash
Are they a bank or a gaming company? Seriously though, the Pii U has made Shitendo say See U to their Gee U (Growth potential). And it's like a Pii Pii with a Poo Poo, not a Wii U with a Wuu Wuu as they originally planned.
