>>285777104 Nope and you don't seem to understand that term.
>>285777074 >Humanity at its core is a hollow, senseless, destructive force. No. No it is not. The age on man was the natural progression for the world and then Gwyn was a faggot and shit it all up. If anything he's evil cause he was a selfish prick.
>>285778380 Aldia figured it all out and realised Gwyn fucked everyone's shit up. There's no way to escape other than to do what Aldia says and just ignore everything. And what the fuck does that even mean? What is that ending about?
>>285775568 no it's not. Dark Souls 2 just has everything haphazardly thrown together and was poorly strung together for any sort of story or lore. the areas were cool, but they were just there, they had no real connection to the world other than the fact that they happen to exist. the same goes for the characters.
>>285775063 In concept, yes. In execution, not so much.
I find it much more interesting to follow the lore of a kingdom of man that fell due to the curse, and the story of it's king who tried desperately to solve it's secrets, than the first game's plot, which was really just "this guy told me to visit the land of the gods so i will" and then you do.
>>285779835 they are though. PC version will be cheaper than the console version, and Vaati seems to believe there will be a special discount as well. And Vaati is a From shill, so Im inclined to believe him on that
>>285779949 >people who buy the game again for a completely changed PvE experience are retarded
the changed enemies and improved AI is the only reason to get the scholar rerelease. changing a few lore descriptions and adding a single new boss doesnt really add all that much to the game. And Forlorn is obviously going to play some bigger part than we think, given he's on the cover
>>285779739 >if you didn't speak to NPCs or read item descriptions Thats like reading only every other chapter of a book and then complaining that the story was sparse.
One of the main reasons why modern games are so shit is because developers try to shove everything in your face, like they're scared you'll miss something and some of their work will be wasted. The best games are ones made by devs who aren't afraid to put stuff in you might miss
>>285780716 >If you buy a car, and then a year later the manufacturer brings out a slightly improved model do you call them jews? Do you do that for any other products? Why videogames? That's a stupid comparison and I won't take your bait
Both cost thousands of man hours to design, both were improved after initial release, both new versions are designed to attract attention of customers who missed the initial version (though they won't stop people that want to upgrade, obviously), etc, etc
i did, and they failed miserably at conveying any sort of good story or lore. nothing seems to connect to each other without trying to be it's own entity within the world striving for more attention over the other.
>>285781885 >>285781905 Just to let you both know I've never played DaS2, and I only got DaS1 free from a friend. I've never personally paid a penny to From.
I'm just wondering why you think the videogame industry is different to every other? Why should you get a free upgrade when many man hours have been spent on the new version? You're getting a free patch which includes some of the new content, is that not good will enough?
So you're telling me From should spend hundreds of man hours adding new content and improving their game, man hours which could be spent on a project to actually make money, and then give all that away for free?
>>285782825 >new enemy placements which completely revamp the maps of areas >6 player lobbies instead of 4 >A new NPC that constantly invades you (you know, like the pursuer was supposed to, and before that like the chariot was supposed to) plus his in game gear >DX 11 support on PC Those are pretty drastic changes. The DX11 support should be free to begin with too. The game should have been DX11 from the fucking get go All the consoles get is changed lore and aldia
>>285783506 >you get new enemy placements from NG+ in the base game, why are the new placements in this version such a big deal? Because >A The new enemy placements didn't take a bunch of resources to create or make, and there's no reason for ps3/360/dx9 to get these placements as all the enemies already exist in the base game. It's simply copy paste >B It is a drastic change though, as it changes the difficulty of a lot of areas. Whether it will be good game design remains to be seen though. >this will probably make the online experience worse, if anything Ok, it's still a drastic change, especailly for shit like fight clubs >So its either just going to be a shit version of being invaded by a real person, or it happens so often its annoying as fuck Again, assuming it is random, it drastically changes the game and was something that was promised to be in the INITIAL release.
>>285783597 It's more than a saying in his family, its a prophesy known all throughout the DaS universe, Solaire even specifically makes himself undead to be part of the prophesy. Loads of the characters talk about it.
Also if you're an undead that's losing his memories and his mind, and then told you can find your purpose by ringing these bells, why the fuck wouldn't you do it?
>>285783506 >you get new enemy placements from NG+ you do not. you just get a few extra enemies tossed in as red phantoms, and a few existing enemies get turned INTO red phantoms just to make them tougher.
this revamps every single enemy and it's placement in the game, its not the same arbitrary additions NG+ makes, which are really more akin to gravelording.
For example, there's now Syan knights guarding king doors, loot is in entirely different locations, (such as pursuer's platform as bait)
>>285783872 >The new enemy placements didn't take a bunch of resources to create or make
There would need to be hundreds of hours of testing, then pathfinding bugs would be found, some environments would need to be adjusted to stop enemies getting stuck, they'd have to carefully optimise how many enemies they place and how far they can wander to avoid performance issues, etc. You clearly don't understand how much work making a game is.
