UT is back, looking good, and FREE!
Talk about the old days, modding, and bitch about your system.

>Had to sell my rig years ago due to hard times
>Was able to play almost all games at 1080p 60+FPS
>After working odd jobs and scrounging I was able to get a few parts together
>Fucking 9600 GT, 4 gigs of RAM, AMD Athalon 64 X2 5200+
>Stuck in 2007
>Been playing Quake and CRPGs
>See UT is back
My heart is heavy with sorrow.
I heard there was a Quake thread, is this it?
Don't forget instant weapon switch.
That mutator shouldn't take more than a minute to make but the only problem is the strafe jumping. There is no mechanic like it in UT so you'd have to make that from scratch.
>game is called Unreal Tournament
>there's no tournament at all
DOES IT HAVE FACING WORLDS?
That's all I need to know.
Yeah, I think the file is fucked. Here, lets try again
>game could have assault
>game could have domination
>game could have double domination
>game could have bombing run
>game could have any of the dozens of better CTF maps that were in game
>game could have fun as fuck unique maps like hallofgiants or Kgalleon
>all 90% of the playerbase is going to care about is face
the weapon models are closer to 3. the playstyle is closer to 99. yes most of the people here are retarded and probably dont even play the games
I was about to call you an underage faggot but then I realized 1996 was 19 years ago.
>thinking any gamemode except DM and CTF are actually good
Mfw I'm the poorfag over here
And even I could install it.
Any way to easily practice armor/megahealth timing?
I always try to make a mental note on when the next respawn is, but I always forget it during intense combat and stuff.
Is there like a program I can use that will alert me after 90/60 seconds have passed? Just so I can get used to the timing.
I'm enjoying the hell out of myself. Even with the one fully textured map.
But then, I enjoyed UT3 and never fully understood why people didn't, so that's on me, I guess.
Seriously, why isn't there even a progress bar or something for the download.
>"As far as I know, the launcher does not work on Win32. You will need to either update your OS to 64-bit or download the zip file to play UT. "
Yep, found this on the forums. Anyone know where that zip file hes talking about can be found?
>let's make the engine free but sell all sorts of assets for money
Real time unless there's a way to do baked reflections on static geometry despite a moving camera. The reflections in UE4 are really good. I was messing around with the level I'm building (not a UT level, just something to test the tools) and noticed curved reflections on one of the chairs of other objects in the room.
dling right now. Honestly I dont know what to think about all this.
On the good side, if this works games might bring back modding on a large scale, and you will see more open platforms for many games in hopes to keep games alive longer.
On the other hand this is encouraging the release of half finished, even less than early release, projects and telling the community to finish it for them.
I dont know. We'll see. All I ever really want is battlefield to open modding back up anyway.
A combination of both.
Ambient occlusion and bounce light is pre-baked, while real-time ray-tracing is used for dynamic actors, drawn over the top of the pre-baked stuff.
It's some wizardry
Well what the fuck. Managed to somehow see what's going on and it seems default resolution is set to 1980 instead of 1680 width as that's the maximum size for my monitor.
How to fix this? I can't even reach options menu to change resolutions, and I also tried changing .ini files, though that didn't help at all.
So I need help to somehow change resolution without actually clicking on the settings button ingame.
Anything you can see here, you can also make yourself. This isn't like Unity, where you buy the free version and then the functionality for what you want to do is blocked off until you pay. That stuff there is all entirely possible for anyone to build from scratch in the engine, granting the expertise. In this case, you're doing nothing more than paying for someone else's time, and to save your own.
It's a really good idea.
I always wondered why the fuck aren't there any generalized engines with a massive asset library . Sure, every game using the asset base heavily would look the same, but brown fps games already look the same.
Using high quality premade assets would leave more space for gameplay, phyiscs and the engine would likely be more optimized.
It went to 1980 because it recognized your highest resolution possible and went with that assuming it was your monitor's highest, but sometimes it isn't.
Try uhh.. bringing up the console and using SETRES W H D?
What the fuck are you talking about?
UT99 is its own beast. Even 2k3 and 2k4 are different to it and to each other in some ways. UT3 is another variation again with a console focus (slower movement, skating). This game is basically UT99 with updated graphics, better physics and some of the more recent gun variants.
Modders will eventually make a modern 2k4 from this and you will get ass cancer.
