Cliackbait gaming sites.
Is he right, /v/?
This just in:
Porn actress does interview supporting Gamergate.
Is into JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, DOSbox and JRPGs
the only fat white righteous dude i wanna listen to on youtube is TB because at least he makes it about video games.
these obese obnoxious cunts are basically like SJW princesses with a slightly different angle.
kill yourself and take your shilling with you.
>"Here's 10 reasons why you should buy my friend's game"
>"Why what you love is sexist"
>"Not giving women priority in raids is practically rape"
>"White men have it so easy, right guys?"
>"Buy this AAA title so we get kickbacks when you follow the link"
>"Check out this game from my roommate"
>"Here's another one of the cool kids from San Fran with another game you NEED to buy, we'll feature him again next week"
>"Sexist mysoginistic racist bigoted transphobic republican nerdmen do thing"
Well yeah he's right. Nintendo has a shit deal for YouTubers. The money YT channels make is a pittance compared to what Nintendo does. YouTubers should be able to pocket all of the money and critique Nintendo as they see fit. Anything else is dishonest, and only harms Nintendo customers, and thus Nintendo.
>>She wants to do parody cosplay porn of Chrono Trigger but it's her favorite childhood game and she doesn't want to sully its memory
I never thought I'd sympathise with a porn actress, but that's a tough one, yeah...
>YouTubers should be able to pocket all of the money and critique Nintendo as they see fit
There's nothing in copyright law that says you can do that to someone elses copyrighted IP. I mean they're welcome to critique nintendo games I guess but don't feel entitled to make money off it. People act as if youtube is a public owned forum.
I know, but I never heard of a porn actress with such excellent taste.
Well, except for liking that new Sailor Moon trainwreck.
This interview is shit, by the way. They just talk to each other about multiplayer shit whilst she sits there ignored and looking cute.
>There's nothing in copyright law that says you can do that to someone elses copyrighted IP.
Fair use for the purpose of reviews.
Granted, that's not what a LP is at all, but for reviews it is.
fair use typically only lets you use about a minute of copy righted work from there it gets sketchy
Look at any other form of media and no one does the outrageous shit you see in video games. No one records their entire reaction to a movie/song/etc with it playing in the background. They get flagged instantly and shut down if they tried to monetize it.
It doesn't really matter if "video games are different because you can't experience them from watching others" the music/art/story/etc is all copyrighted and treated the same way that other forms of media is.
These guys basically give Nintendo free community spaces for their games, and also advertising for free. Nintendo should be glad LP exists. Most devs are jumping head over heels to accommodate this form of entertainment.
Also American copyright law is old and outdated. It needs to be catch up to the times and often inhibits collaboration.
Ok, so lets say you make a ga.....lets be honest, that's not going to happen. So instead lets say you make a YT video that some how makes millions of hits. Now You're making money from this.
Now I come along and take your whole video and put it on my channel but now I have my reactions and some crappy video overlay. Cause of this you start losing traffic and some go out of their way to say you're copying me.
Now if I was to only use a very small fraction of your video then hey, that's a review and that's perfectly legal. LPers should not, let me repeat, SHOULD NOT be making money off this. They should be glad to be getting table scraps since they're not actually creating something, just slightly (at best) modifying some that others have created. Looking at you FineBros.
> Nintendo games
> Games featuring world renowned characters from a world renowned company
> Thinking making LPs of Nintendo games advertise Nintendo games and not the other way around
Nintendo is irrelevant with today's kids. They're a bunch of old Japanese men who don't understand the internet. They think that camwhores like PewDiePie should pay them for the privilege of playing their games on streams, when really it's Nintendo that needs people like PewDiePie to show their games to kids.
I'm sure this thread is going to be full of autistic Nintoddlers beating their chests and shouting "GO NINTENDO! KILL STREAMERS!" but back here on earth, Nintendo is not very popular anymore and they do not have the power to kill anything. The only thing this does is block Nintendo from a huge set of eyes and ears that their products need to reach.
Nintendo makes games for kids, and they need streamers that kids watch to show Nintendo games. They see all the money changing hands any time someone plays Nintendo, and they want a piece, not realizing that they are shrinking the overall pie that they can get money from when they do this kind of thing.
Do you really want to live in a world where Nintendo doesn't make games anymore, and instead they make nursing home devices with Nintendo characters printed on them? Whenever Nintendo gets fed up with trying to figure out what Americans like, they always retreat to the Japanese market, and right now Japan does not have a lot of kids-- it does have a shittton of old people though, and it's about to have even more.
>These guys basically give Nintendo free community spaces for their games, and also advertising for free
doesn't give you ownership of an IP and doesn't really have anything to do with the situation
You can't argue that you can break copyright laws because you believe it benefits the owner.
This is all really moot because if LPers/reviewers felt that they were being cheated they could either take nintendo to court for taking revenue from their content or migrate to a new site taking their audience with them and start dealing with advertisement money directly or just record their thoughts/reactions without gameplay shown
But they don't because they're really just taking advantage of a system that they never have contributed to. Google maintains the constant audiences, Google created and flourished the monetization system, Nintendo makes the content that they need to make their own content. They should be glad they're making easy money on such a system playing video games
Video reviews are as old as broadband, and never in the history of ever have game websites had to pay the publisher to put up video reviews. What Nintendo is doing is almost as shitty as filing DMCAs on negative Youtube reviews. All they are doing is ensuring that no-one of note wants to upload footage of Nintendo games.
>sleeves not buttoned
He's definitely wrong about everything ever.
I don't give a shit about what this Swede faggot has to say. He should be happy with the fact that he's a multimillionaire for essentially doing nothing. Any time I see any of these LPers bitch about (blank)'s copyright claims, all I see is "WAAAH, I WANT TO KEEP MAKING FREE MONEY OFF SOMEBODY ELSE'S PROPERTY!!!".
Tough shit. They made it, they own it, and they can do whatever they want with it. They don't need your "advertising", and they went literally decades doing just fine without any help from you.
They don't because they financially can't take on a multi-billion dollar company in court, you fucking retard. Nintendo knows they will never be challenged, so they have free rein to do whatever they want even if it's not in their best interest.
But its not someone else's property that he makes money off, he's a comedian, the games are a backdrop, he plays terrible shit games and he gets more views than if he plays AAA shit
I'm pretty sure nintendo is just taking down any video that isn't part of their program
No I'm quite sure that it's because they have no case in court because the law favors nintendo in every situation
actually he is complaining that you can not monetize lps of nintendo games
you can still play them with out ads and most importantly IT DOES NOT EFFECT REVIEWS so it literally only hurts fucking lets play faggots who want to make money off of playing nintendo games
>Why would people buy games they watch on youtube
EA started reprinting skate 3 because of the demand youtubers made
Pewds actually talked about this in a video, said how its a shit game and he think it deserves the attention
Am I the only one who thinks Felix is quite unattractive? He's probably like a 4.5/10 in terms of facial features. His hair is good though.
The only one getting hurt by that is nintendo, because he could play some shit nintendo game, or he could play shitty flash games, if hes not going to make money on nintendo games, he might as well play the flash games.
I really do not think nintendo needs help advertising their games just their consoles, splatoon is popular everywhere, nintendo has their own youtube channel and fire emblem had a huge boom of success with out youtubbers I actual rather he focus on flash and indie games since they would actual need his help
Metacritics scores actually determine the success of games;
Often time it determines who gets bonuses, whether a game gets a sequel or not, or sometimes who gets fired.
Pretending that it doesn't matter just because you don't care is ignorance of the highest degree.
>Often time it determines who gets bonuses, whether a game gets a sequel or not, or sometimes who gets fired.
The only time I've heard of this happening was in reference to Bethsoft being cunts to Obsidian, in which case jokes on you, you bought a Bethsoft game. Life can deal developers a shitty hand sometimes, that's how it goes.
Why don't you just ignore them instead of yelling with anger every time someone at Polygon says something stupid? Threads like this are fucking dumb, it's the "HOLY SHIT I HATE PANCAKES" comic in real life.
thats not it at all if you review their fucking game you do not need to opt into the program, if you lets play it you have to. why are retards so uninformed about something so basic.
It's hard to believe I changed my view on this guy. I thought he was just an idiot doing stupid things on camera, but in private he seems pretty calm, sophisticated, and logical. A man with reason.
I still don't like his channel, but the guy himself is alright.
