>figthing games are in a state of decline
>the two greatest rival companies of the past decade decide to make a game together
>it's sequel becomes the best game of the genre
Why can't more companies do this?
This game is so fucking good, no other game after comes even close,it's amazing how they managed balance with such a ridiculous ammount of characters and grooves.
Wh can't western developers end their differences and join to make great games too?
>inb4 mvc2 is better
>inb4 capcom did all the work
>inb4 snk vs camcom series sucks dick
>inb4 this is true love we makin
I have so much nostalgia tied to this game. I'm not even that big into fightin but this is a very special game for me. It was the first vidya I ever bought with my own hard earned money as a teenager. Recently picked up the PS2 classic on the PSN.
SNK had no part in making CvS or CvS2, just like Namco had no part in making SFxT.
CvS2 was a broken unbalanced glitchy game that was literally a rehash of Alpha 3 with dumbed down mechanics and a larger roster to appeal to casuals.
But anon, sometimes broken unbalanced glitchy games are
fun. Just like MvC2. There's a reason these games are fan favorite even though they're not very competitively viable, there's more to a fighter than competition.
>SCII even in the gutter neighborhood of SCIV
Shit taste confirmed
Didn't really play enough TvC to judge (the online was always dead, the Wii had tons of great 3rd party games but the Nintendo fanbase only wants to play Nintendo games and nothing else) though yeah it was fun
Sucks that it may not ever get a sequel
I wonder how much of MvC3's Phoenix Wright was recycled material from the one TvC was supposed to get
>Anything but shit tier
Underage DBZbaby pls go
Damn, my favourite game of all time.
I wish they would make a sequel but SNK is almost done for except for the rare new KoF release and Capcom went full cancer.
Well, I'll still have fun with CvS2.
>not shit tier
This is bait, right?
No one actually thinks those horrible dbz games are actually good fighting games... right?
Sorry the other guys list is better, yours is nonsensical and ugly.
also putting crap like SC2 and CvS2 in top tier means this list was made by a casual who plays fighting games for single player.
I didn't make that one, but it's well justified, unless you can elaborate on the mistakes.
which I doubt you can
>not top tier
>jojo on the same tier as VF
There's so much wrong with this i don't know where to start.
3rd Strike doesn't deserve to be that high. It's fun but high level gets kinda retarded with the DBZ levels of meter charging and parry option selects. Majority of the cast isn't competitive, too.
SNK had very little to do with CvS2. It was almost entirely capcom.
Which would explain why instead of using Kyo as the SNK mascot character, they stuck Terry into every promo piece.
I fixed your shitty list up the best i could, still lots wrong with it.
I actually like those games as well but they nowhere near the best of their genre
>getting your ass kicked by capoeiras
Try defending 3rd Strike instead of attacking me. It has nice graphics, sure, but it's still a mess at high levels. Let me know when a character not named Chun-Li or Yun wins EVO.
Capcom vs Snk 2 is an awesome game, but it was only awesome for the Capcom fans
SNK was treated very badly, most of their characters barely play like they are supposed to, and their combos/movement are dumbed down in order to favour SF-style gameplay
>no command attack combos
Kyo in particular barely plays like he is supposed to
still a fucking classic however, CvS2 is miles better than the shitty excuses of fighting games we get today.
And years later, SNK would put what's essentially CvS2's Kyo into KOF 13 as EX Kyo, so I don't think they or the fans agree that they were mistreated.
You do get hops, anon. It's groove specific.
CvS was the reason I got into SNK fighters. It was kind of a big boon to both companies, really.
I have literally no idea what you are even referring to.
At a guess im going to assume you mean one of the tekken games?
Just so you know, because you are obviously a button mashing casual who has no idea, cappos have never been higher than mid tier in any tekken game.
If you are refering to Tekken 3, Ogre was literally the most overpowered tekken character from any tekken game in that game.
but of course you know nothing about fighting games, since you list single player garbage as "top tier"
You motherfuckers made me all nostalgic.
Why hasn't either company ported this game to steam yet? It's on every other console, phone OS, and calculator ever made.
Vega sh.hk is some crazy shit. But then again, Vega is just all around good in that game regardless of his groove.
Maybe not P. Not that he's bad in P groove but he shouldn't need to be parrying things anyway.
>GG, VF and 3S are single player garbage
half the reason i see anyone on /v/ ever say anything good about tekken is because of tekkenbowl or tekken force (i think it was tekken force? that sidescroller shit)
it actually is possible, tatsunoko has said they loved working with capcom, capcom does not think its a safe investment though, if you want tit to happen two things must be done
1. make a big deal about it on capcom-unity only highly active topics get reviewed
2. Tweet tatsunoko and make some stupid hashtag like Tatsunoko vs capcom 2
do not suggest it be on ps4 or xbone make it a last gen and wii u title. TVC sold very well the only reason it did not get a sequel was because marvel 3 was coming out
>CvS was the reason I got into SNK fighters. It was kind of a big boon to both companies, really.
Same here. I got into fighting games thanks to Alpha's clean sprites. Then I became a Capcom fanboy. I thought SNK sprites were worse (yeah I was hella stupid).
Then CvS2 made me discover SNK characters and I became a huge SNK fan.
Is this a bait image? I'm a casual when it comes to fightan games but even I can tell that game is the most unbalanced shit ever. There's literally no reason to use like three fourths of the cast.
Also are the KOF 98 and 02 steam ports any good? Always hear good things about them.
Eh, I like both games but CvS2 has a bigger roster and more variety in gameplay (thanks to grooves).
Also I prefer the slower type of gameplay of CvS2 to the fast paced and over the top combos style of Tastunoko and Marvel. Just my personal taste though.
>Game played competitively for over 15 years
>Its for casuals
Let me guess, SF4 was your first fighting game
If HnK didn't exist MvC2 would be the most unbalanced broken shit ever, but that doesn't stop it from being the most fun unbalanced shit ever. I would play a million rounds of 2 and still have more fun than Ultra Iv
They're perfect ports of the xbox live arcade versions, which are expanded and refined ports of the original games.
Note that the steam versions, while having some minor fixes and rebalancing, still don't include the PSN color edit mode, 3d stage backgrounds, and other PSN touches.
I give the steam versions 8/10. They're worth the 15 bucks.
I remember seeing that for the first time at Gameworks back when I was a kid. It blew my fucking mind. Imagine my surprise to come in one day and discover that it had been removed. Apparently, the marketing executives at Sega thought that putting Sonic in a fighting game would come off as too violent and hurt his public image, so they quietly got rid of them.
Oh the ironing...
Technically speaking, hasn't Terry been in more games than Kyo anyway? I know Kyo is the face for KoF but despite what the final roster may imply, it's Capcom vs SNK, not Street Fighter vs King of Fighters.
By now, they've probably been in about as many games, but Terry's been around for a couple more years.
SNK were a bit more creative with SvC CHAOS. It has Zero, mars people, old SNK bosses, Demitri, Earthquake, the devil from ghosts and goblins, and a fuckton of others.
Also this guy, who only ever made an appearance in the SF anime movie.
