What does /v/ want the new Mass Effect to be like?
I'll be fucking pissed if it turns out to be like:
>LOL, FORGOT TO TELL YOU GOYS THAT THERE IS AN EVEN BIGGER BAD GOY OUT THERE THAN THE REAPURS, TOP KEK
They should limit the scale also instead of "save the whole universe" bullshit that comprises 99% of sci fi media.
They should make you a bounty hunter or some shit.
What does /v/ think?
>Larger worlds like ME1 (but more detailed)
>Mako (it's confirmed isn't it?)
>Class based system
>An actual RPG in which you can choose to be a criminal/bounty hunter/officer etc, a true Sci Fi epic
>To not suck ass
MASS EFFECT SQUAD TIER
Richard L. Jenkins
ME1 Garrus Vakarian
Well Written Tier
ME1 Ashley Williams
ME1 Liara T’Soni
Good Waifu-bait Tier
Bad Waifu-bait Tier
EDI (In Fuck Robot form)
Stain on Virmire Tier
>What does /v/ want the new Mass Effect to be like?
Like ME3, but with more EDI, and less everything else.
Why would you say such hurtful things anon.
Alright, so you're playing as a ship captain of a small frigate. You delivered a graybox to some powerful asari chick a few months prior, and someone blows your ship to hell because that graybox contained data that fucked them over. You survive with a few others, and hunt down the bastard that wrecked your ship. End game, you find out the guy is a batarian drug lord, space scarface. After you kill him you can replace him or try to go back to your previous life
No we want an exciting atmosphere and setting. Mass Effect became worse even without the stupid story because the characters became more important than the world. Think back to the first game, do you remember walking around the citadel in awe, or having long conversations with Tali, Wrex and Garrus about their feelings?
I think your just jealous because your waifu sucks
Do a game about First Contact, when the first ship went through a Mass Relay. Perfect way to get new gamers into the series while older fans could easily benefit from their knowledge of the lore. You could be a human ambassador of the Alliance, maybe twenty years after the war with the turians? Everyone should outwardly hate aliens, which would make the ship dynamic of forming a team of rivals much more interesting. I'd like to have a team full of people who don't like you initially.
As for what they could be fighting, that's up in the air.
>What does /v/ want the new Mass Effect to be like?
Different universe, this one is shitted by reaper bullshit beyond repair.
No ancient galactic evil.
More customization options and builds in general while keeping good things from ME3's battle system.
All side quests are handcrafted like in second.
Vanguard with vanquish-like rocket knees and melee combos who can go full cuhrayzee.
My point was, you don't talk to them much in ME1. Conversations with Tali were exposition cause shes the only quarian in the game, Garrus sucks up to you in a series of short conversations about being a space policeman, and Wrex explains the genophage. That's it. Their stats in the squad were more intesting than their characters
>They should limit the scale also instead of "save the whole universe" bullshit
While I completely agree the one single time they tried to do something smaller scale was Dragon Age 2 and that game flopped horribly. And while there were numerous reasons for that flop I think one of the lessons they took away from that was that small scale story does not do it. because as soon as CISquisition started to get promo they emphasized again again how epic and significant and large scale the stories gonna be, which makes me think that a lot of players probably didn't feel too engaged by DA2 smaller story. I think most guys just want to rescure the world and the universe in super awesome fashion again and again and again
>have it play like MGR/DMC during combat, typical ME talking and shit outside it
>space ninja cleaning up the galaxy
>plot it very simple, no big bad, no ancient evil, just bad people doing bad things for space cash
For the story just make the main character a random dude/lady a clean slate. Choose your own adventure and all that fun shit.
>smaller scale story, maybe a detective/noir type of thing
>absolutely no DA GALAXY IS IN DANGER UR DA CHOSEN ONE type bullshit
>large focus on how races are coping after the bullshit that is the ME3 ending
>fleshed out dialogue system, something closer to Deus Ex: Human Revolution's dialgoue
>have all future Mass Effect stories be small one-shots with different protagonists, this way it's easier to make the story have decisions that will affect the outcome of that game's ending
copypaste character ideas
1. One of the Vorcha raised by people in the Citadel/whatever other organization for reasons I haven't banged out yet. 15 years old, nearing the end of his life. Laments how most of his species are utter fucking niggers and has tried and failed several times to help his people. Really civilized due to his upbringing. Tech specialist and heavy drinker
2. Batarian Medic
Fought during the Skyllian Blitz and the conflicts after. Chomps cigars and gets into passive-aggressive banter with the other human squadmates regularly
3. Quarian Biotic
Exposed to eezo before birth, basically a humanaboo and quotes old westerns occasionally. Outfit would have a few things on it that would confuse him for a human, IE human head shaped helmet, human shaped boots (which he says are remarkably comfortable), carries a holster with a Colt SAA at all times for aesthetics. Applies biotic effects to baseball sized metal balls ala steel ball run
4. Ex Alliance Pilot
Former ace pilot but was dishonorably discharged for addiction to Red Sand.
The idea I had in mind when I made them was that none of them were supposed to be 'world class' special if you know what I mean, aside from maybe the Quarian. He was designed with being the main character in mind
I want it to be like ME1 again. Focus on Exploration with a detailed and well thought out codex entry for damn near every bit of it. Mechanics that actually feel futuristic. Being able to customize weapons and ammo again. Unlimited ammo again. Strip out the romance entirely. It didn't add anything in 1 and it only got worse from there. Maybe actually have ship to ship combat or something. It'd be nice if your ship was more than just a really detailed loading screen.
I've seen you post this quite a bit. Good ideas except for the Quarian. That's a little special snowflaky. They are also a bit stereotypical, so some extensive characterisation is needed there.
>Focus on Exploration
Well you're at least getting that.
>protagonist is a space pirate trying to make ends meet in the shitstorm that is the post-ME3 universe
Uhh no. BioWare has literal autism, they can't make a game with the scale of Black Flag.
>mfw AC4 had more enjoyable characters and humour + more open areas and better graphics and animations and fuckton of everything that was done much better compared to ME3 while STILL being a fucking literal Assasin's Creed game
BW is fucking hopeless and need a reality check. Their characters and story or "rpg elements" don't have anything that warrant them to make such small and shitty games.
It needs a fresh start. Something new, no reapers. Move far past ME3, no alliance,N7 or spectres.
Smuggler or mercenary?
ME was such a great game when I played it for the first time years ago. I played it through with all classes on Insanity. Then it got worse with the sequel and went down the shitter with 3. It could've been so good.
ME3 was best ME, you have shit taste.
Yee, he sucks.
Go 3 choice ending, jeee!
Honestly, I want a Mass Effect that's more open-world, and doesn't deal with a 'big bad'. Just the MC, his motley crew, taking out/taking control of the douchebags of the galaxy
I want it to be even worse than ME3 and Cisquisition combined so I can get the most satisfying hatefuck of my life out of it, since I don't have any faith whatsoever in Bioware's ability to make a good anything in the year 2015, so it might as well be horrendously stupid so that I can at least get some enjoyment out of hating their latest abortion dressed up as something I used to enjoy.
She has bad eyesight, those are space robot glasses, stop being so robophobic.
I am obligated to post this in every ME thread.
>post-me3 setting kinda like post-war Europe in space
>you're just some random guy/chick with no voice actor
>you can clean up, profit off of, or whatever with the chaos.
>Bigger me1 style worlds to explore
>more class/ability variety. I wanna be an N7 vanguard biotic ninja guy in single player
>building a whole faction instead of just a team, maybe with a simple rts mechanic thrown in there
If I could change it I'd just take the damn thing out. I don't have confidence in myself to write an engaging interactive romance and I sure as hell don't have faith in Bioware's ability to do so.
I will always relate 100% with that post. I remember the day I finished ME3. I uninstalled it the next day and haven't touched the series since. It retroactively ruined everything.
Because ME is the highest level of comedy
Remember the comic? It was like a goldmine.
>FORGOT TO TELL YOU GOYS THAT THERE IS AN EVEN BIGGER BAD GOY OUT THERE THAN THE REAPURS
It could be this
The reapers were only shitting on the Milky way right?
With the billions of galaxy's out there. The cuddlefish and reapers were probably shit compared to something in an even older galaxy
>Who ever said that the Reapers were the biggest threat to humanity?
It's being written partly by the guy who did halo 4 so the reapers will be back with some crap about humanity being genetically super special and instead of a legendary space jesus shepard will be hated for literally no reason
I want to see the fantastic adventures of an unemployed Jack and his useless partner the MC in outer space,
like Space Dandy. Jack is fem Dandy.
- No more anthropocentricism. i.e., "Humans are the most super awesomest specialest race in the universe! This is not an outdated Victorian-era ideal, but schlock we take seriously for some reason!"
- Go back to the ME1 weapon cooling system. yeah, I know, that would require coming up with a brand new combat system instead of copying Gears of War. Who knew developing games would take effort?
- Fire the head writers and stop giving them absolute creative control. ME3's ending was entirely because Casey Hudson and Mac Walters had a blank check to do what they wanted with no peer review. The small no-name writers are the only ones with talent in Bioware.
-Bring back vehicles and exploration. Yeah, that would require actual effort and refinement instead of just copying Gears again. Who fucking knew?
>think to myself how ugly Miranda is
>google about how ugly Miranda is
>find a bunch of forums
>every time someone comments how ugly Miranda is, there's a hundred replies along the lines of "I now question your sexuality."
How the fuck can anyone find that troll of a woman attractive? Physically, mentally, or emotionally, she's hideous.
There is nothing in the word worse than people who play FemShep, let alone people who play FemShep and argue that it's the only real way to play. Or god forbid they waifu her.
The only way to make a FemShep look good is to use her as firewood.
Game takes place after the events of ME3.
>But what shit ending will they use?
Let's go with Destroy because every other ending is for people who want Garrus's space parrot cock up their asshole.
Except for Control, I guess, because it's pretty cool that Shepard IS Reapers now and he can put himself into a husk body and rape Liara or something
With full knowledge of the Citadel's functions and true purpose, Council scientists discover that the Milky Way actually contains several redundant Mass Relay networks. We know that the known systems and explored space in ME1-3 is still less than 5% of the Galaxy. Turns out the Reapers had established redundant Citadels and relay networks in order to best fulfill their function. If Reaper advance units like Sovereign detected Synthetic development in any of the Relay networks, the Reapers would come in to flush them out.
These networks were never meant to be linked to each other, so that each one is small enough to be easily handled by the Reaper fleet. However, since the Citadels are the Reapers' primary source of entering the networks, it is discovered that it could be possible to link the Citadel relay to another Citadel and to establish contact with another Relay network and potentially new civilizations established there.
ME4 is a political thriller/subterfuge action game where your MC and crew are making decisions that maintain or sway the balance of the Council's ultimate decision on whether or not to establish a citadel link.
>The reason Joker is so weird in the third one is because he got word that his planet was attacked by the Reapers and his family was killed (The story the Asari tells in the hospital)
>Because of his nickname/attitude, he doesn't let on, just makes more jokes, but because of the emotional strain it comes out all awkward
It all makes sense now.
>better story and with no plotholes and better dialogue with better VA
>non-linear plot, more open with less "probe Uranus" crap
>zero "romance" options because we're not all sad, lonely virgins aching for a glimpse of textured polygonal tits
That was the point where I started losing faith in Bioware, where they seemed to zone off into their own world where our own rules don't apply. A magical universe where Miranda is perfect and beautiful, Cerberus are well-written anti-heroes, and ME-players actually want to play Gears of War with dialogue wheels.
Several factions are on each side of the decision. Pro-contact factions want to establish the link for scientific and exploratory reasons, but some people also believe that other civilizations could still be struggling with Reapers or in need of assistance in the post-Reaper fallout, and that it's our moral obligation to send assistance if we are able.
Anti-contact factions cite examples like the Rachni and Yahg to insist that it's too dangerous to open a link without knowing the potential dangers on the other side. Others are worried about stretching Council resources too thin with such a huge potential expansion.
Your actions involve dealing politically behind the scenes between different embassies, possibly assassinating and replacing Council members or protecting them from assassination, exploring and gathering resources for your chosen factions, and generally helping to restore your part of the galaxy post-Shepard/Reapers.
It's inevitable they'll make a human MC and I assume they'll probably make them N7 again for branding, but they shouldn't be a SPECTRE, at least not for the first game. Maybe not even until a third. Your resources are more limited than Shepard's, you can't save everybody, time and resource management will affect your game outcome. Your character should also feel more like the field leader on a crew of equals, and less like the unquestionable alpha commander on a crew of misfit nerds.
I'll bet my ass the new ME will be a prequel. In this way they can use a preestablished and popular universe, including lore, assets, design and so on, they dont have to come up with something completely new and somehow unfuck ME3 ending. it could even inlcude some cameos (young anderson, young saren, liara, etc)
I want them to stop with all the fucking fanservice.
ME:3 was essentially fanservice: the game.
>cool, somehow you get a reuinion with everyone you ever met in the previous two games, and this is about half of the game's content.
New ideas please? New characters? Something? Fuck.
>Multiplayer added in 3
>Volus race/classes added
>No Volus party member in the single-player campaign
>Instead we get Freddie Prinze Butchsteak
I mean, Vega was fun in his own way, but compared to the possibilities of a Volus team member? Not even close.
>Play ME 1
>Meet your first alien
>He's a gigantic faggot
>Arrive on the citadel
>Meet two other aliens
>They're pretty cool
>Their species proceed to do nothing throughout the trilogy
I mean, really, think about it. The Normandy is the most advanced warship in the system with whatever ridiculous information gathering systems Bioware made up. Just how likely is it that Joker DIDN'T know about it almost as soon as it happened?
why didn't they just model her off of the real life model?
why is bioware so bad at making decisions?
why is my penis so small?
