Actually pretty good. I've been doing a couple of videos, and I mostly edited down what I wanted. Super Mario Bros for NES And Halo:Combat Evolved were picked as my first two Then I decided to do a video on Onimusha for PS2, which is almost done. I decided to do this series where I playthrough an entire game, and I edit the highlights into a 10 minute video, whether they be awesome or funny moments. Then I pick songs from the OST or from my personal CD collection and play them over the video. SMB is about 8 minutes long so far, with Halo being around 11 minutes. I haven't uploaded them yet, but I will by the end of the week.
If you're here by then, I can post some links if you like
Mine's going fairly well. 126 subs in a month is better than I thought I'd be doing with only 9 videos. Only 2 of them are what I actually want to do, the other 7 are just shitty gaming videos I made for my friends to laugh at. Feels good
I made some videos for the Diablo II mod Zy-El a few years ago, but i since deleted them because they had some dumbass music in them that i though was good at the time. Nowadays, I couldnt give a fuck about making anymore videos.
I recently made my 413 subscriber special to call my entire fanbase nerds.
A lot of people subscribed when I made some videos about a game that was Flavour of the Month at the time, but became cancerous later on. I keep the videos up because it allows me to ban 'character accounts' and general fags from my channel through their shitty comments :^)
>>287218706 Thanks for the compliment. I actually write a script for the whole video. I tried one where I just ranted the whole idea, didn't go too well. Too many umms and ahhhs and repeating shit I already said more than I do in the script.
Nothing special. I mostly just make really short videos and audio edits that nobody watches. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLBVfC6rbiU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZzK9NjMQA4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJxCZxYfjdM I just enjoy making them, I dont really care if I dont get a whole lot of attention.
>>287206115 It's going okay so far. It feels nice knowing that when I play video games I'm doing more than just wasting time. Although it's a bit annoying not being able to wander around or lull about since there's only a limited amount of harddrive space for footage. and especially annoying cramming 10+ hours worth of footage into a 10 minute video.
Doing alright, recently did a vid covering Darkest Dungeon: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZ_BaRAAP_g
Kinda looking for new discussion ideas, if anyone has topics they wanna hear about let me know. I was hoping to do one about game length but Super Bunnyhop did that recently and the timing would feel awkward.
>>287210970 I only get 30-50 views per video, with some videos going up into the 100s or 1000s, but I pretty much just make stupid shit that my friends and I find funny. If I never get any bigger than this I wouldn't mind very much
>>287222062 I misused the word somber there. I think what I meant to say was "calm". Fuck me it's 3 AM.
Anyways, yeah you could do really well on those. You seem confident in what you're saying. I like that. Do more stuff like that and you're golden. You can still do LPs while doing the other shit, though, probably better to take those slow anyways. Videos like that become taxing if you do them too often trust me
I've run into moderate success on YouTube and my subs like my videos.
I've always had the paranoia that my voice is annoying and this turns people away from videos when I'm talking despite putting a lot of effort into the editing. I know I'll get harsh honesty here so OPINIONS.
>>287223043 I'm trying to get a solid idea of how to incorporate "the other side" into the videos. Sort of like this little fag on the side that just responds to shit I say so I can shut them down right away. I have a buddy interested in doing some videos with me so that could work.
Is anyone tired of the classic game reviews a la JonTron/AVGN/Irate Faggot? I love old games as much as the next guy, but there's never that style of review for new games or anything. Idk, just seems sort of tired at this point.
>decide to stream one night on twitch for the first time >get everything set up >no cam but voice >playing guild wars 2 cause I was messing around on it at the time >start stream >just talking to myself for a bit and basically just leveling my guy >that night twitch decides guild wars 2 is the coolest thing on twitch >apparently sodapoppin and some other big streamers were streaming it that day >next thing I know I check my dashboard to find 360 people watching spamming my chat trying to get my attention >immediate panic attack >shut down my stream and shut down my comptuer >hide in bed
>>287223734 The reason people don't do that with new games is the reason that don't do it with new movies or music. It is really risky to have an extremely negative opinion about things that don't already have an established negative opinion about them. It is also true of a lesser extent for a positive opinion. It is hard to be popular being a trail blazer and early adopter of things if you aren't already popular to begin with. For the simple reason that viewers can turn on you quick if they don't already agree with on pre-established views of how good or bad a game is.
It is easy to be le born in the wrong generation or to only review retro games because everyone has mapped everything out for you.
>>287224016 That makes so much sense, never looked at it that way. Always saw it as an "everyone else is doing it" sort of thing. Like, AVGN inspired JonTron, JonTron inspires kids to do it now, AVGN inspired other people before JonTron.
You'd think making new opinions would be a more viable method, though. Having radical opinions on things sparks conversation and your videos get more popularity. I guess getting shit on by people in the comments is sort of counter-productive though
I kinda want to do streaming for fun and because I need to work on my public speaking/confidence, but I'm a grill and I don't want to fall into stereotypes. Would it be better if I just did voice, rather than video?
>>287224423 Well I'm sure it helps that there is also familiarity people wont know new games and references and jokes to them to the same extent that they will new ones. So to an extent the "everyone else is doing it" factor has something to do with it, but there has always been negative reviewers. Before AVGN Seanbaby was the big thing and before him it was late 90's/early 00's game informer. I'm sure there were people before them.
You can probably earn more respect by being someone who finds new things and gets people to try things they normally wouldn't or who correctly identifies a game as shit before other people. This was one of the reasons Adam Sessler was liked before he turned to crack. It is just a lot riskier to do that because you have to predict whether audiences will actually like the thing or not and it isn't really easy to do. What you think is golden most people might think is shit and vice versa.
>>287224806 you can do facecam if you really want, honestly it might help the viewercount just on virtue of being a girl, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Everyone needs to market themselves somehow. But as other anon said, don't be annoying about it or be like WOW A GIRL PLAYING X GAME WHOD HAVE THOUGHT just be.. you.
Just opened a twitch for streaming Stalkers mods. I'm doing Secret trails 2 for now and plan to do OGSE 0693. I've already some people interested so that's cool. Don't ask for the channel it's in French.
>>287224242 Hitbox has been picking up speed since the developers are looking to get more of an american audience going. A friend I stream for managed to get partnered just because four of us got drunk and played Nazi Zombie Army 2 and that got some attention.
I think we got the short end of the stick though, out of all of their partners, we're the best at ~30 viewers while everyone else peaks at 10.
>>287224993 >>287225181 >>287225236 >>287225352 >>287225363 Thank you anons! I'll hopefully get shit up and started over the course of the next week, and I might plug myself once I'm done. I would post my voice, but I don't have my mic with my at the moment ;_; I-I promise to make you proud, anons!
I really want to start but I have no clue what to use for my profile picture and branding and stuff. Like, on forums and shit, you just take some image off google images, but now it's representing me even more personally.
How do you get inspiration for your channel customization and banners and shit? How do you get them? Do you commission someone? Or doodle in paint?
We're trying our best. And I know about the audio issue, we have since corrected it and all future videos will have full stereo audio. We're just trying to have fun and maybe make some cash on the side. What's the best way to go about that? We also do streams on Twitch, can't you get donations from that or something?
>>287225668 >>287225684 >I'm not a pussy sperglording manchild, so people will insecure about themselves when watching me. >NO, anon, YOU'RE just a LIAR, blah blah, GO AWAY, You're not really MASCULINE. IF I CAN'T BE MASCULINE, NO ONE CAN BE.
I got nothing uploaded. I don't know what I want to do. People say I've got a great voice but I'm not about to commentary over an entire game. Thought about maybe just doing long plays with no or little talking. I dunno.
When my MH4U kick stops I'll go back to playing obscure games but I'm considering uploading videos since I've run into the trouble of not being able to see gameplay of obscure games before, so it'd be nice for someone else to be able to find gameplay easily
