>>287344247 I thought you /v/ faggots couldn't possibly have trouble against le filmic cutscene enemies. IDK how you die if there's no gameplay and it's casual shit.
>>287344091 Yup yup. Clickers aren't even close to the most frustrating thing in the game. Stalkers are much, much worse since they're instantly aware of you and run like motherfuckers. Clickers are just the poster child stage of infection.
>>287344782 Are Stalkers that infected type that is in that ONE area when you are separated from Ellie? I remember those enemies confusing people because they sorta look like clickers but they can still actually see, but they hear super good like clickers as well.
>>287345119 In the basement of the hotel, with the generator? If so, yes, they're fucking dicks. They can see, and there's no getting around them. On Survivor or Grounded mode you just have to bite the fucking bullet and go full ham on them, beating ass with pipe and shotty, you aren't sneaking out of it. At least I'm not, IDK about you guys. Stealth just falls apart for me in that game, everything becomes a shitstorm.
>>287345174 The Bloater wasn't bad, you can just run past his fat ass no problem. Granted, he's fucking panic attack inducing and seems like a huge threat, but in reality you just get everything in hand before you start the genny, have the key card ready, and do a couple practice runs to that door before activating it.
Yes, practice runs. Just sprint there a couple times, get a real feel for the route, then start moving as SOON AS IT WILL LET YOU after the genny, you'll get out unscathed.
>>287345416 The Revolver. I rarely, if ever use a long weapon.
>Revolver >Reviver 3 >Brawler 2 >First Aid 3
Front Line Medic gives no fucks. Have two on the team and your opponents have to pull some serious shit to get executions, and downs if they're not working together. Combine that with the parts from constant healing and reviving and you have a fully upgraded revolver and endless armor to keep bitches at bay, which is more than enough once you're comfortable with Factions.
>>287345398 >being in that dark as fuck basement >hearing infected, bloater walking around >just decide to run for that door >swipe key card >there's that brief delay when he opens the door and walks through >bloater right behind me is about to throw a shroom football >walk through as it hits the spot I was just at
>>287346502 You get used to it. Just another day on the ride that is the Joel Train. I must've done that part over ten times by now. Normal, Survivor, Survivor+, then numerous replays stacked on my Survivor account just because I was enamored with the game (it's great, fuck /v/). The bloater becomes routine as shit, but there's always a little clench as soon as that fucking genny starts.
>>287347367 You don't have bullets through most of Survivor, learn the tao of the pipe, the do of melee, if you will. It's really not hard at all against infected, the human enemies in that game are much worse to deal with.
>just got TLOU remastered (i played a bit of the ps3 version with a friend) >start up a game on grounded >get all the way to where tess dies >literally cant' get out with stealth >spent so much time trying to get out >just can't get out jesus christ what a mess. And it's even worse because I used most of my ammo in the building slightly before the capitol building where you have that one clicker and all the runners.
>>287345529 an idiotic zombie design that fits right in line with current zombie culture
I'm so fucking tired of zombies, people talking about zombies, people liking zombies, people using zombies, AND PEOPLE FUCKING SAYING THAT SHIT THAT IS ACTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE LIKE A ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE OCCURRING COULD OCCUR.
Fuck every single person who bought this game, dayz, the walking dead, or whatever the fuck else there is. There's not a fanbase alive most disgustingly cancerous than those who like zombies.
>>287347721 Take a breath bro, it's not that bad. You're going to have to beat some people to death with your fists, accept that. They'll drop you a little ammo. Don't be afraid to get too hurt, good old Ellie-bean will give you health kits, just live from fistfight to fistfight.
I don't want people getting turned off this game, it's too beautiful of a journey to not see it through. Just buckle down and beat some ass, harder times than the Capitol are coming down on you later.
Really, just go balls out. People love to preach careful approach and all this stealth horse shit, but sometimes you just have to dip your hands in brine, clench your teeth, and be the Joel.
>>287348451 I'm interested in the mp more than the single player at this point, though to say i'm not interested in the story would be a lie. It's pretty cool. definitely not as great as lots of people have said so far though, the part I played at my friend's was at some power plant or something? Everyone had guns and it was a big ass shootout.
>>287348614 It's very much worth it to get through the campaign. The thing about TLOU is that because it was good, everyone overhyped its story to fuck. It's a very simple tale, the entire thing is just a vehicle to show you this slowly unfolding relationship between a terrible man and his second chance at a daughter, and what he's willing to do not to lose a second one.
TLOU isn't a masterpiece of writing by any means. It is, often though, a masterpiece of characterization. If you're not a character driven guy, and you love some intricate, multi-faceted plot, you won't love it.
The magic isn't in how amazing the story is, but how far you come with these characters through playing it. You feel really close to them, the way you do after a good JRPG or a novel. At the end of it I felt that every nigger I beat with a pipe, every motherfucker who got peek-a-goo shotty'd, all the death and frustration and close-calls weren't just me getting through the levels, I felt as though I'd actually come all that way.
When you look at Ellie's face at the end, you feel the toll of that trek, you know the weight behind Joel's few words and the pain behind Ellie's eyes. I may sound like a romantic faggot right now, but that game got me, it got me good. And despite what /v/ says, the gameplay itself was hugely entertaining. I've never had more fun beating ass in a TPS.
Addendum: get into Factions, the multiplayer, and the campaign's combat will be nothing to you. The dicks you'll face online are much more dangerous than anything in the game.
Aw shit a Last of us Thread? i fucking love Last of Us Threads. Frontier Rifle a best. really hate having to pay for the best shit though. ok guys, i have 2 more dollars in my wallet and i might as well use it on TLoU. what should i buy? i already have Frontier Rifle and Agility
>>287349393 Honestly, nothing they've released as DLC as been worth it to me. I still opt for the Revolver, or the Burst Rifle in the rare event that I opt for a long gun. Revolver is the ultimate counter-sniping tool, and the BR can kill in one sweet Burst to the head.
As far as the DLC perks go, it's still just Reviver, First Aid, and Brawler for me. Nothing else cuts it with the way my team plays.
>>287349639 Well, yeah, it's very stressful, it should be stressful. Many of the segments are actually designed to cause stress, because, you know, trying to stay alive here with two bullets and a rag, and that's if you're lucky enough to find a rag.
Beating hordes of fungal ass to death with a pipe never got old to me, the animations for swinging and the reactions for being hit still satisfy. All the melee just feels like a good, solid shit-kicking.
>>287349818 It's pretty much a necessity, I never play alone, that shit's not fun. Me and a bro just run dual Front Line Medics and keep each other up, winning using only revolvers most of the time. Even that's just meh compared to actually having four people, which I used to. Two moved on to remastered though.
>>287350065 i was ready to tell you that you were wrong but meh i was sort of let down campaign wise because of how much people hyped it. and a lot of things broke immersion the multiplayer more then made up for it though and id consider it a 5/5 if it was just the multi. the best ive ever played actually.
>>287350205 >two moved on survival of the fittest. R.I.P. in peace.
>>287350087 I'm really fucking glad they didn't. I'd love to see that shit in something else, but that art looks like John Carpenter's The Thing, not a human being infected with Cordyceps.
Yeah, I know, hurr durr muh realism, but for this setting it doesn't make any fucking sense to have super fungus monsters. I didn't even like the Bloater, I thought it was really pushing it. People get infected, they lose their shit, live like filthy animals until they die, then the fungus eats the rest of them and makes their corpse into more spores. Life cycle. Horrifying fungal Gravemind doesn't fit into it.
Reminder. Also, There is fucking nothing wrong with the Infected in TLOU. It's really cool how they took a interesting spin on the whole "zombie" thing and made it more believable and more human. Fuck you faggot.
>>287350205 I felt physically disgusted playing the game because of how much attention they put into the melee combat, slamming some poor assholes head against a desk and watching him bleed out in a ever growing pool of blood was too much for me.
Yeah I know it isn't real but even the thought of that kind of thing makes me wince.
So because I don't like third person shooters or stealth games in the first place I had no desire to move past the first few chapters of the game. Only reason I had it in the first place was because it came for free with my ps4.
I remember when naughty dog used to make comfy fun games, not stupid cinematic experiences.
>>287350665 they are not undead, they can be killed by ways zombies supposedly cant be (shot in the stomach, choked, beaten to death)
all they are are feral humans who lost their minds from an infection. why is every feral humanoid seen as a fucking "zombie"? would you call a homeless man a zombie because he ran at you and tried to bite you?
If the crunch and bleed of melee made you sick, I think they did something right. There's nothing more comfy than to crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women.
>>287351062 >It's not in the slightest believable it actually is, if anything were to cause a "zombie" outbreak it would be a fungus. and if we have no natural defense or immunities then it doesnt matter how more complex we are, it would infect us.
>>287351237 If Remastered came out on PC with some nice graphics settings and all the DLC bundled in a nice Steam deal, you'd see a shitton of threads on /v/ day and night about it, especially the multiplayer. Just like Dark Souls, it would get a ton of attention and a "place" on this board.
Going through a bit of Grounded Mode a few weeks back one of the fucking soldiers in the Capitol Building snuck up on me and started choking me out the way you can do to them, I thought I was fucked, but then Ellie jumped up on his back and knifed him.
I didn't know whether to be proud of a daughter or attracted to a complete badass.
>>287351062 Wow. Fuck off. So what if it's not 100% realistic? It's a fucking game, creative liberties are allowed to be taken. My point was that at least the infected aren't mindless cliche zombies with no explanation behind them. The infected in TLOU are based off of a real thing and it is PLAUSIBLE that a similar event could happen irl. It's fascinating. ND did an amazing job creating a story behind the Infected that is told both through words and gameplay. Jesus christ you are stupid
>>287351410 How about you stop posting, since you bring, and probably are, nothing of value or merit? Of all the explanations of the "zombie-genre" this one is by far the most probable, that doesn´t mean that it´s likely at all. Nothing more was said, you monogloid.
>>287351773 Calm down bro. The Cordyceps in TLOU is based off a real fungus that does similar, terrifying things to insects and arachnids, yes, but there's no reason to get up in a fuss over some jackass who's sick of zombie fiction. I'm sick of it too. I love TLOU, but it would certainly be considered a branch of Zombie fiction.
Hell, the real life Cordyceps infected creatures are described a zombies. Doesn't mean it's bad, but it's certainly zombie fiction of a sort. Doesn't mean it's cool to go full autist and dismiss it over that, but it's not really something to argue about.
>>287351653 there isnt a strict formula for what a zombie is/isnt if someone made a movie where a bunch of people were on hella bath salts and ate people and they were called zombies then that would do it since the only thing we have to go off of what is/isnt a zombie is if someones made a movie or a form of media out of one. what a "zombie" actually is is constantly changing and saying what is/isnt is irrelevant since you have shit from the originals that werent even called zombies to World War Z sprinters to the tv show Izombie where the zombies have super human strength and can see crime after they eat brains and then look completely normal who are you to say what isnt what a zombie is when the very definition of what a zombie even is is changing every day
>>287351837 I get what you're saying, but human beings aren't equipped with the hardware or software to properly echo-locate the way bats or whales do. Best Clickers can do is what a lot of blind people do, which is to tell what's in front of them with a sound, in this case a clicking, and to keep their ears very fucking busy listening for movement.
I know this is now a TLoU thread because /v/ has the attention span of a coked out orangutang, but no Tales of game has good enemy designs.
You get to spend the entire game learning how to get good at combat on squirrels and bees and shit with the occasional cool boss battle that, should a character die, will initiate a series of unfortunate events where you almost lose but miraculously come back after spending four or five life bottles.
It's weird how the Tales of games are simultaneously cool as hell and extremely shitty.
Unrelated but did anyone else here get out of the final segment where you run with Ellie out of the hospital in the first try? I barely made it and even today I still don't know ow how I did it. All the screaming and alarms and dark rooms and soldiers popping out everywhere;it really gave the segment a a nose of desperation, confusion, and urgency. I loved it, so well done.
I didn't like how the majority of enemies in the ROTT remake are hitscan, it is not necessarily bad enemy design but not that fab game design. It gets annoying as shit too
Doom only had roughly five hitscan enemies, two were cannon fodder, one of them was a boss, another is made to pin down the player, and the other was part of an easter egg. The rest were either melee or fireballs for the most part (with two or three others of note having unique attacks) but had other properties that the map maker can use to great effect.
>>287352039 >>287352039 Yes it is. It's entirely possible. It's a fungal infection. It has the capability of spreading to humans. Will it? Probably fucking not. Can it? Technically yes. While this certain type of Cordyceps currently do not affect humans, it's possible that the organism could eventually evolve and start infecting humans. That's how most modern diseases are. They start out as not being able to infect humans, but eventually evolve and are able to, in simple terms. Small pox came from cows. Because cows are domesticated, the disease was able to be around us for long enough that it eventually evolved and became able to infect humans.
>>287352760 I bet you're part of the same people who hyped up all that shit about the bird flu in 2012 or the swine flu in 2008. You legitimately believe such a thing is would happen, and you spread it to other people. You and people like you are the source of all this fucking shit.
>>287353125 They mean generic mid-fantasy. A bit of magic, but not supermassive magic societies, swords, maces, axes, horses, etc. I can see why they would think such a way, but I disagree with their assertion that it's overdone.
Though I would like to see more low fantasy like Mountain Blade. Maybe Bannerlord will sate that, who knows, but I really want a nice big open-ish kingdom to explore as a peasant making my way up society (which isn't technically accurate to real medieval society, but whatever).
>All these fucking zombie games >A huge boom in the zombie genre >Zombies fucking everywhere >Not a single fucking game where you play the zombies >Countless fucking "PLAY GRIZZLED SURVIVORS SURVIVING A SURVIVAL SITUATION WITH ZOMBIES AND BANDITS" and parkour zombies >NO FUCKING ZOMBIE RPGS FUCK EVERYTHING I JUST WANT TO CREATE MY OWN ZOMBIE AND GO OUT AND RUIN HUMANITY ONE BITE AT A TIME
>>287353072 >I bet you're part of the same people who hyped up all that shit about the bird flu in 2012 or the swine flu in 2008
Uh no. Why the fuck would I? That's a totally different topic altogether.
>You legitimately believe such a thing is would happen, and you spread it to other people. Like I said, It's POSSIBLE. I'm dealing in fucking facts here, bud. It's POSSIBLE, that's it. I'm not fucking hyping up anything, and i'm not saying it's going to happen either. It's basic fucking biology. Christ, man... What the fuck is your problem?
>>287353324 Reminds me of a game idea I had laid the framework out for, except instead of zombies, you're an interdimensional beast who's powers have been sapped by [a hunting force] and sealed away for thousands of years. Then, when you manage to break free, the original people who stole your powers had passed on their powers throughout society, and you have to kill thousands of people to eventually gain back your powers and continue on your conquest to wipe out everything in [the dimension you had gone to].
The worst fucking part is I don't have the skill, technology, or ability to make such a game and have it be good.
>>287353349 It's not. You're part of the wish fulfillment crowd. For some fucking reason, you have it stuck in your head that a zombie apocalypse is needed, and you're fucking naiive enough to think that you would not be one of the millions of zombies. So, in order to sate that desire, you pretend like OH NO, A FUNGUS COULD POSSIBLY TURN US INTO ZOMBIES MAYBE and conveniently ignore all of the facts stating otherwise and instead live in your fantasy world.
>>287352236 izombie is just a Buffy ripoff and people don't use Buffy as the standard of what a vampire is.
What a zombie actually is are brain damaged slaves from Hati. George Romero made Night of the Living Dead and called them Ghouls. He was making a Ghoul film, not a zombie film. For whatever reason people associated the Ghouls with zombies and it stuck.
In reality bathsalts guy is closer to what a Hati zombie is as it's caused by a "drug".
I for one like the Ghoul types of Zombies when I think of them. I don't care much for the parasite, spore, or rage infected monkeys etc.
>>287353435 any currently living fungus cant, but its not impossible to have the modern Ophiocordyceps unilateralis to ether evolve to the point were it can infect larger creatures, which can include humans
>>287353645 I'm pretty sure the human immune system combined with the countless drugs and medicines we have in our possession could counter any fungus attempt at establishing a mushroom slave empire.
Not to mention cordyceps don't turn living things into raging blind monsters like the game shows, if by some chance humans were infected by cordyceps, it would make a person wander around like a braindead idiot and climb to a high area then die in an explosion of spores so the wind spread more
>>287353613 WHAT? Dude what the fuck? Are you literally retarded? You are just making shit up in your retarded head. I stated a fucking biological fact that it would be POSSIBLE that Cordyceps could eventually evolve and infect humans, and you are bringing up all this bullshit about me wanting a zombie apocalypse and shit? What the fuck? You have issues, bud. Get help.
>>287353615 Yeah I suppose so. It would have to be open world, and I would want the city to be pretty big, and have every house be fully explorable. There would be really no more objective than killing everything you meet and to make up for that, I'd planned for a pretty robust combat system, with a large variety of abilities and fighting styles. Also there would be a set amount of people in the city, and you could kill each and every one of them, no respawning. As well as expansions that add more cities, abilities, and combat scenarios.
Maybe someday anon. I'll hold onto it until then and just hope that I don't end up the next Molyneux.
>>287353867 >I'm pretty sure the human immune system combined with the countless drugs and medicines we have in our possession could counter any fungus attempt at establishing a mushroom slave empire. true, we can have counters for a possble infection, but that would mean the person was infected for any treatment to be needed.
>Not to mention cordyceps don't turn living things into raging blind monsters like the game shows, if by some chance humans were infected by cordyceps, it would make a person wander around like a braindead idiot and climb to a high area then die in an explosion of spores so the wind spread more
yeah the modern fungus would be this way, but the game's fungus is a fictional evolution that infects other creatures, and does different things. the basic point is, there is a thing in nature that takes control of bugs and controls them, making them mindless like a zombie
>>287354047 they can see it, but what they use echolocation for is not hunting, its for moving about its surroundings. the thing that triggers them is hearing another thing make a noise, if something doesnt make a noise, they ignore it
>>287353645 The fungus would work different and wouldn't create anything like clickers. Fungus has no motives to get a host to eat people. The Fungus' only goal is to get it's host to a location to die where it can grow killing it's host and spreading more spores. Most likely it would try to affect your brains hypothalamus gland which regulates body temperature to make you cold. In animals this would cause them to seek other animals to be around for warmth. Then it would paralyze and kill the host to grow and release spores.
That however would take days and in humans would be easy to spot well before the fungus could spore.
>>287354297 >>287354369 >Hey GUYS I CAN SEE YOU BUT I AM NOT USEING ECHOLOCATION FOR HUNTING THAT'S WHY I AM NOT HUNTING YOU EVEN THOUGH THIS IS MY ONLY INSTINCT I HAVE. YOU NEED TO MAKE A NOISE BEFORE I START HUNTING YOU. BTW ALL THE OTHER CLICKERS I WILL CONVENIENTLY IGNORE EVEN THOUGH THEY MAKE ALSO A LOT OF NOISE. this is just stupid
It's kind of pointless to argue possibilities, isn't it (especially with that anon)? It's possible an earthquake could cause Japan to sink into the ocean tomorrow. Will it? The likelihood is so low that most people would just laugh at you and say that it's impossible, despite the possibility existing.
>>287354493 >They use it for hunting no they dont, them clicking around you and not seeing you clearly debunks this claim, because it it was for hunting they would attack after they detected you, but they dont, its only when they hear YOU make a noise that they attack, their echolocation has nothing to do with them attacking you
>>287355268 >It's not even a stretch to assume that human echolocation would be ghetto as fuck and probably not suitable for hunting. If it is that bad than they CANNOT USE IT FOR ECHOLOCATING THEIR SORROUNDINGS.
>>287355098 If that is true they cannot run because they have to wait until they can see their sorrounding again.
>>287355617 HOW? YOU GODDAMN DUMBASS IF THEY CAN SEE THEIR SORROUNDING WITH ECHOLOCATION THEY CAN ALSO SEE MOVING OBJECTS IN THEIR SORROUNDING. OR DO MOVING OBJECTS HAVE SPECIAL ANTI ECHOLOCATION DEVICES?
>>287356358 if that's true they cannot run at all Dr. Scadden has written of his experiences with blindness. He was not born blind, but lost his sight due to illness. As a child, he learned to use echolocation well enough to ride a bicycle in traffic.
>>287354642 Fungus can't really travel through blood. You can get fungal infections from breathing in spores or touch depending on the fungus.
As for mind control it could only go so far. At best it makes people irrational like Rabies which can cause attacks. However like rabies it would most likely kill it's host within the first week of symptoms. So with something like that we would have people dropping dead faster than they could infect.
Fungus just doesn't work as fast as a virus or bacteria, and would be noticed much quicker. By the time the fungus would have grown enough to affect a person they would most likely be at a doctor being treated. Even at that point the fungus wouldn't be mature enough to spore, and the host would have to be dead by the time it did spore.
>>287351420 PC games are inherently better. Even shit games can be saved once they get onto PC where they can be fixed with mods. PC users aren't afraid to fix consoleshit mistakes to make games enjoyable.
>>287358560 >What didn't make sense about these? You can't just say "clickers". read the thread but in short for your their "vision" and how they can only find you when you make a noise >These don't have anything to do with the story. yes they have gameplay is part of the story and the most important part of a video game.
Or do you think when they have a shoot out in a western that the shoot out has nothing to do with the story?
You know, years ago they slated an open world zombie rpg where you played as some kind of voodoo evil priest and the idea was supposed to be a big city with a population and you'd just infect the population how ever you wish and try to overcome shit like quarentine zones and stuff with special infected you'd have to sacrifice normal infected for.
Fuck man, that was going back years though, like early xbox 360 years.
>>287358495 >hip high walls everywhere where you will encounter Human enemies I love this meme, simply epic. You literally can't make a third person cover-based shooter without these and yet braindead morons like you think they're the worst thing on the planet since yahtzee made a joke about them.
We've hit a point where I can't tell if people here are shilling or genuinely have shit taste.
Last of Us is a corridor running simulator that took all the gameplay from singleplayer and injected it into multiplayer, which even then is just a reskinned Uncharted. Emily or whatever the fuck her name is can't be considered anything more than a shallow, manipulative attempt at making you 'care' about a story that is, honestly, generic zombie movie bullshit we've seen in fifty other games this decade. She's also just a vehicle for progressive lesbian faggotry bullshit that simply must be hamfisted into everything nowadays so video games can be "art," despite them REGRESSING as a medium rather than evolving. The plot is full of holes, none of the characters are likable, the zombie design is boring, the gameplay (if you can call it that) is boring, the color palette is boring, even the fucking concept art is boring. The only somewhat passable aspect of the game is the music, which is nowhere near good enough to carry the whole thing and make it decent.
I mean holy shit, /v/. Remember when we had such good taste in games that other websites would see us discuss Godhand and go "no man, we always liked Godhand too! Really! We always had a sophisticated, high brow taste in video games! We don't fall for half-assed, highly-marketed garbage like Skyrim of Last of Us! We're patrician too!" I wish those people would fucking come back. Not the retarded millennials who seem to inhabit the place now.
>>287360571 >STOP DISCUSSING VIDEO GAMES I DONT LIKE >THE OLD COMMUNITY WAS SO MUCH BETTER >LET ME SHOW THAT BY COMING INTO THREAD AND SAYING HOW MUCH I DONT LIKE THING AND HOW THINGS USED TO BE BETTER AND WAAAAH
>>287360571 >or genuinely have shit taste. It's /v/. We've been on a downhill slope for the last two years. There were people who actually liked Bioshock Infinite besides it being mediocre in almost every way, except maybe for its setting.
