You haven't read anything new about Splatoon's singleplayer, have you?
The last few recent updates have proven the single-player campaign to be fairly robust. About as much as you'd expect from this type of game, anyway, with the collectable-cosmetics being a main selling point.
It's no Final Fantasy, but it will attribute greatly towards a purchase.

The graffiti walls, news flyers and arcade flash on screen.
Your Inkling walks out into the main plaza the shop keepers come out clapping and congratulations comes up on the screen.
I just want mockups of the amiibos already, so I can just give my money and be a good Nintendo goy.
I want to get like, multiple versions of each so I can paint them different colors and shit.
The multiplayer is indeed the focus but it is also true that Nintendo always gives a lot of importance to the single player of its games.
I don't expect one hour but less than 7 hours for sure.
