>Extremely popular and heavily-marketed Gen I Pokemon
>Underpowered and unpopular in Smash
>People want it cut because they find its moveset disappointing
Gee, doesn't this sound familiar?
Charizard confirmed cut in Smash 5 and DLC for Smash 6
>kept in one of the most unfun characters
>took out two of the most fun characters
GREAT fucking job, hackurai. Honestly they should have all been taken out and then had a Gen 6 version put it: Chespin - Braixen - Greninja.
Fun moveset =/= deservingness for Smash.
Also, Ivysaur was even WORSE than Charizard in Brawl. And they aren't even full characters, just extensions of Pokemon Trainer that you're forced to use as a team rather than specializing in one.
Who wants Charizard to be cut? I don't. Even if he's not SSS tier I still enjoy playing as him in Smash. Definitely more enjoyable than Bowser.
Personally I thought Squirtle was the least fun.
>fun isn't important
You people treat Smash as some sort of abstract "hall of fame" for Nintendo games, when it's a fucking video game and subject to the same standards as anything else.
The only reason Pokemon Trainer and the others were cut was because MUH TRANSFORMATIONS and the 3DS version ruining the potential Smash U had.
Ivysaur, Squirtle, and Climbers are all causalities. Charizard was only kept due to his popularity.
IIRC there was a petition to have Mewtwo removed from the series because he was too weak compared to how he was in Pokemon.
>LOL you don't worship cutesy and underappreciated things and hate edgy and popular things like the rest of /v/!
>takes two abilities from Mario (one being fucking FLUDD of all things)
>SQUIRTLE SQUIRTLE SQUIRTLEEEEEE
Squirtle was the worst.
Transformations were shit, I'm glad they're gone. They were especially shit for Pokemon Trainer because of that hidden stamina system.
It's actually difficult to say. If Pokemon Trainer had returned, it's pretty likely he'd have Red's Origins voice and design, stamina/type effectiveness would have been removed so that you can truly main one of his team individually, and his FS would still be Mega Charizard X.
That wouldn't have been half bad, but I sometimes see trainerfags actually WANTING the stamina system to come back.
According to a French retailer, he and Wario are each getting 3 times the number of units that each of the rest of the wave is getting (at least in Europe).
People like to play as fast characters and /v/ likes cute things, that's all. Also, Squirtle was actually the most viable of PT's team, Charizard was mediocre, and Ivysaur was horrible.
>Add in a Pokemon for each missing generation.
Honestly, for a franchise with so many reps, it sure is represented poorly.
At least you're removing Jiggs, unlike some other people who suggest Zard and Mewtwo being cut. As long as we have Blaziken (the most popular non-genwun starter and a better fit for Smash than Charizard), that wouldn't be a bad idea.
I fucking hate Jigglypuff, and the only reason why I want the original 12 to stay is so that Captain Falcon has no risk of getting cut himself.
>pikachu, charizard, mewtwo, and lucario are some of the most popular pokemon ever to exist and have unique movesets
jigglypuff is the only odd one out, it's only in because it was in the first smash
Jiggs is legacy and here to stay.
Gen's II and III lacked anything that would fit into Smash and remains iconic; IV has Lucario like him or hate him, and he's popular. V could use Zoroark, he's popular. Greninja was a great pick for VI, although he was likely chosen before the games were released and it's luck he wound up being the most popular starter.
I actually don't WANT to get rid of Jiggs, but it has no chance of beating out Pikachu in popularity, and Pika is the most popular Pokemon. Blaziken is awesome, but I have no idea who I'd want as 2nd gen or 5th gen reps.
Gen III has Blaziken, who's an extremely popular starter and a Fire/FIGHTING type. He was already heavily requested for Brawl and became relevant again for XY and ORAS.
He'll stay relevant for longer than Greninja will, and really should have been in the roster in order to represent the gens in a more balanced way and advertise ORAS.
Original 12 are a lock is the only Smash trend that fits anymore.
Doc and Mewtwo have proven cut characters can return
Ice Climbers prove appearing in multiple games in a row doesn't keep you from the chopping block
Lucario / Ike show being new and getting "overshadowed" by newer games doesn't mean you'll be cut
And given all of Sakurai's bullshit, Original 12 is the only thing you can bet on in Smash anymore.
This is now a thread about costumes you miss
>tfw black tunic replaced by Dark Link
>tfw no more blue ring Link
>tfw no more classic Luigi with orange skin
>tfw no more headband Jigglypuff
>tfw Marth's new design in general
this, people parrot this shit without realizing jigglypuff hasn't been relevant in a long time. it's only in because it was in smash 64 and sakurai doesn't like cutting characters
Jigglypuff is worse than generic furbait. She's an annoying cutemon that only appeals to Meleefags and little girls and has no appealing qualities whatsoever other than being overly cute (which Pikachu already covers) and being good in Melee.
Then again we got the best Link skin of all time, which changes him from "generic bishie elf with dull, boring color scheme" to "10/10 warrior god".
Jesus, you've some painfully dull taste.
>Gen 1 Pikachu
>Gen 2 Suicune (muh Pokken)
>Gen 3 Blaziken
>Gen 4 Lucario
>Gen 5 has shit starters and legends, top tier designs for the wild Pokemon aren't gonna cut it. Cicinno?
>Gen 6 Greninja
I think Jiggly and Charizard should stay tho.
We're going to have 6 Pokemon once Mewtwo releases. What's the big deal?
Victini is probably the best gen 5 rep, much as I hate to say it. It's a legendary, isn't super what the fuck huge, and V-create could be its final smash. Haxorus is cool too.
they have seperate names, the announcer says their individual names, they have different crowd chants, and they have their own voices.
they are alts yes, but alt characters non the less
Pokemon Trainer (Squirtle, Ivysaur, Charizard)
this is how it should be
adds another major character (major in the sense he was the partial main antagonist
for one of the more popular games) to a the roster, is a fan favorite
>>Pokemon reps should be Pikachu and one Pokemon from each gen.
no because not every gen is important enough or has popular enough pokemon to rep that gen
most of the pokemon are just dull NPC creatures that serve no other purpose than to add filler to the gen,
the ones in Smash have had some relevance to them outside of the games, (TV, Movies)
The only other one i can think of would be the Genesect thats about it, i mean you have the other Legendaries like Lugia and Entei, but the wouldnt fit in as playable characters (imo, i could be wrong)
