It's just not fun. Wheres the fun in dying over and over? enemies that change direction in mid attack, making dodging absolutely pointless. A camera that doesnt fucking work. Bosses that are simple damage sponges.
Every fucking time I've died felt fucking bullshit. People approve of this shit because "it's a hard game"; apparently, that means it's not a flaw its a feature.

It is because typical bosses in action RPGs will take 5-10 minutes to kill. Previously you could kill early bosses in Dark Souls like the Taraus Demon in 5 hits. It was fucking ridiculous.

Those big fuckers you meet pretty early in the game can do all of those things. They can charge at you change direction and if you manage to dodge that, the only way to do so is to time your roll towards them perfectly, their sweeping attack covers a ridiculous area and catches you. I'd use molotovs but they never hit the fucking target.

If you have a lengthy battle you have more time to experience all the boss has to offer and can even have transitions to mix it up. They're long and satisfying duels.

I finished DS2 with a forsaken character using a sword only. I only used the Heavy shield for the Persuer and smelter demon. Bloodbourne is pure bullshit.

the problem is is just doesn't do enough damage. I can get a few 3 hit combos in until it gets enraged then I'm lucky if I can hit it maybe twice after it leaps at me.

Press up in the D-Pad to get 5 more bullets in exchange for some HP.
Heal with a vial.
Run away after you riposte the head, wait for the head to regen, then repeat.
If you can't into close range, practice dodging and managing the camera, with the strat I've posted.

Idk how you people are struggling. I've never played a souls game in my life before this nor have I touched any single player games either. Took me about 1 hour to get passed the very steep learning curve, but that's it.
This game is easier than the souls games before it. It's faster paced and the combat is less clunky, making it manageable. It's fucking really easy to get lost, I found, but difficulty wise it's not that bad. There's your response.

I just beat Father Gascione or whatever about 15 minutes ago on my third try. It took 4 visceral attacks to kill him. If that's what you consider a damage sponge, you need to play something other than Super Mario Bros. for a change.
Maybe just for me, I always walk down a branching path out of curiosity. I took a side path away from the bridge of the Cleric Beast that I later found out lead to Father Gascoigne before dying and finding the cleric beast.

I beat Cleric Beast in one try. It was an intense fight, but I could see his swings coming easily enough. Father Gascoigne took me about 5 tries. Blood-Starved Beast took me 2 tries. I almost beat him the first time, but then he did that super poison cloud which I didn't notice instantly poisoned me at first. Then he hit me once, and my health dropped in seconds, as I tried to dodge his other combos.
I'm enjoying all the bosses so far, though.

A Hunter of Hunters doesn't just kill any other hunter on sight, they only kill the ones that fail to respect the dead, showing that they're too close to beasthood to be trusted.
Things die before I can regain all my lost HP most of the time. I try to go for viscerals, but Hemwick is filled with sets of stairs that make visceral attacks not work for some reason
regain is shit, you are supposed to chug vials like a yharnamite. you are supposed to have to choose to spend echos on vials or level, it reinforces the "only one currency" for everything mechanic.

You'd like it probably. The most accessable builds in the beginning are Str or Skill. Going Blood or Arcane is a chore in the beginning to about mid. But They pay off way later.

Right at the moment when I killed ROM two spiders did that jump attack on me and killed me. It was cool that the souls I got from ROM where still there but god that was fucking infuriating to run back there after a cutscene teleports you to another location.

it's hard to fully restore life with rally and often times the difference between life and death at 1 or two hits is a sliver of HP. rally is for getting health up enough so you can fully heal with just one vial.
Traditionally, it's Cleric however he really plays no real role other than to introduce you to how bossfights are gonna begin everytime.
Th real boss of the area is Father Gascan, if you can just think of Cleric as a miniboss.
Don't listen to the hype/marketing. People who actually like it don't like it because it's hard and because they die a lot. Liking it just for those reasons is missing the point. If you don't like it, don't like it man. Don't feel like you should enjoy dying over and over, because that's not the point of the game, no matter what the marketing said about Dark Souls.
Does BB have varied environments? Everything I've seen looks like the same victorian london setting. All the souls games had varied environments and the locations was part of what made me enjoy them

The environments have some slight variance, but it's all within a cohesive mold;

All-in-all it's not too different, but the areas are squeezed together in a way that's quite convincing and atmospheric. People in here complain about the lack of varieties because they want to see a bunch of standard RPG areas shoehorned into the game, but not a single person I know that's played it has made that complaint. They way it's put together sells the package convincingly, whereas in the previous games you'd cross some imaginary threshold and the world would suddenly change architecture/filters/geography/etc.
Yeah there are varied environments, but there is a much greater consistency. Though I enjoyed the extreme variation in Dark Souls, I appreciate it. Along with the more complex level design, it makes everything feel a lot larger and more real. Yharnam feels a bit more like a city since you're in and around it for a lot of the game. And everything is much denser, like there are a shit ton of little details that differentiate areas that may otherwise look very similar.
And yeah, most of the footage that I've seen (I stopped looking at screenshots and trailers a while back) just shows around central Yharnam at night anyway. The game actually starts during sunset and as the game progresses it slowly turns to night.

On the one hand you're a fucking grease ball in bloodborne with a heavy emphasis on aggressive combat while still being careful.
But you don't have a shield, the only reason you're so strong and swift in bloodborne is to compensate for the complete lack of defense in the vein of a shield.
On the other hand you're still a fucking monster able to slide out of danger so you wouldn't really be handicapped, the games balanced pretty well around its offense.
Now the other way around would be pretty hard, but not undoable.
However I don't think you'd really stand a chance against the smaller enemies, they're designed in BB to be struck down before they can hit you, often times
using attacks with a large radius. You don't really have any crowd control weapons in the souls games, at least on par with something like the weapons in BB.

Difficulty is rarely a valid criticism. BloodBorne has plenty of other issues, but it does not have artificial or unfair difficultly, it presents a fun challenge to most.
i played through all of DaS with a damage sponge strength bruiser build (havel set and shield, Manserpent greatsword fully upgraded) and once did not use roll or dodge, just tanked with my shield through everything.
i dont have a problem with bloodborne whatsoever. finished central yharnam in less than 2 hours and got to rom in like 13 hours. how people get stuck in the first area of the game is just pitiful
probably the only "artificial" difficulty in bloodborne was the 3 hunter gankfest in Yahargul. you really had to cheese them and die multiple times to kill them. i have yet to see someone barge in there and simultaneously fight and kill all three without dieing
So basically people who can't do shit in this game are pretty much DSP tier? I guess not being able to buy 99 lifegems and have repairable Life Protection rings really changes up the game

No exactly, that's what I mean. I feel the marketing for Dark Souls emphasized "you're gonna die over and over" too much, and so some people who go into it just feel like "well this is apparently the point of the game, to die over and over, this isn't fun". When, for me at least, giving the player full responsibility for what happens to him, makes exploration feel so much more worth it and makes intense battles that much more intense. I mean to say that I don't like the games because "they're hard" (like OP thinks people do) but because their worlds are very genuine, which results in a very compelling and nicely challenging game.
Should have saved my gameplay. If you aren't an idiot, you will take out first the long range guy and leave the spell one for last. Never once felt forced to cheese in this game, there is always a smart way to defeat bosses.

Yeah I skipped the Cleric Beast at first, so I thought Father Gascoigne was the first boss. So when I came back the Cleric Beast was a fucking joke after beating the next couple bosses
What kind of fucking world do we live in, everyone bad at this game should feel ashamed
a DaS2 boss would be pretty fucked since they whole stick is the 3 hit combo some times followed by something else, with BBs system they would stagger or just not be able to keep up with the character
DaS bosses would be able to put some hits in since they have a more variable move set, but in the end you would be way too fucking moveable for the boss to keep up with you
DeS bosses that you actually fight would range from completely a massacre (phalanx and Tower Knight) or a quite fair fight (FameLurker and False King), some bosses would be near impossible though (Armoured Spider)
DeS had quite options for crowd control since it had a faster pace combat than DaS, a simple Short or Long Sword could do some pretty good crowd controlling since the hitboxes were the actual sword model mash and the animation made you swing quite qide per hit
also the fucking meat cleaver had amazing moves for a heavy STR weapon when it comes to crowd controlling, rolling R1 having an AoE for example

Gherman the first hunter today and it turned out he was the final boss. I'm now in ng+ even though there were still some areas, secrets and weapons that I had to find. Am I fucked? Should I play NG+ or start a new character?

I find the game serviceable and somewhat slow paced in movement and the fighting a bit clunky.
Losing your exp, and your progression isn't much of an issue, it's more so having to wait so damn long to continue that feels aggravating.
If nothing else, you can farm until you can add more health and stuff in order to progress, so you're not left completely in the dark.

To get the holy blade...take a left out of oedon's Capel, use the switch on the second floor of that church where you find that lore npc which reveals a staircase to the next zone. After finishing that zone that locked door in oedon's Capel opens. Get the badge for the holy sword at the top of that tower.
Now I'm not what you would call a "fan" of Bloodborne, but I will say this.
You need to learn to adapt to situations presented to you in these "hard" games.
The fun from these games comes from learning from your mistakes and finally overcoming obstacles.
People who think games should hand everything to you every two steps are the worst in the gaming industry.
Games are fun for many different reasons for many different people, but I can promise you unnecessary rewards are not fun, they're pandering to people who need instant gratification. These people shouldn't be playing video games for this.
I personally prefer being faced with a difficult challenge that I can overcome with enough thought put into it. The best reason to do this in a video game is because there's no real life repercussions from it. So no matter how tough the situation I can take a break if I need to and not worry about it having an actual impact on my life.

I'm not too far in, only killed the first 7 bosses, but so far this build is wrecking shit. I have a friend who did his first playthrough pure Strength, only using his starting pistol for parrying, and he later made a Skill-based character. He reported back to me asking me how I can do it.
He also says that Rom the Vacuous Spider is my next boss, and that it's hard as balls until you learn the fight. I'm excited to see if I can just burn it to death before things get too dicey.

It depends on how you play the other Souls games. It's a lot harder to cheese enemies in Bloodborne; you're not gonna make it through the whole game with a shield and a bow and arrow. If you play through Demon's Souls or the first Dark Souls without building yourself around defense and.or long range, though, then you'll probably find those more difficult.
Dark Souls II is still the easiest, regardless.

The only thing difficult about the cleric beast is the camera if he corners you. If you're really having that much trouble, just molotov him to death once he goes SSJ.
Of course, if you can't beat cleric beast you're never going to beat the next boss, or any of the actually difficult bosses like Martyr or the end boss.
I'd like to emphasize, I'm only at the Forbidden Woods. Just looked up said "Stake Driver," and it doesn't seem I even have access to it yet.
Does look fun though, and no stat-based damage multipliers. I might just try this thing out on my next playthrough.
She won't appear outside the chapel until you open the gate shortcut leading to the area boss.
You have to do that by either going through all of Old Yharnam or by buying the 10k blood emblem you use to open a main gate on the other side of the chapel map, and then climb an obscure ladder down an alley surrounded by guys to open up the gate that way.

Not really. None of them do enough damage, other than maybe the cannon, which you get TWO shots out of before it's back to a normal build.
You don't really get enough drops in the game to sustain a magic or gun build, and item discovery doesn't actually increase drops at all, only upgrade shards to chunks and so on.
No fooling? I explored every single area that I could find before killing Vicar Amelia, and I don't recall getting this "Powder Keg Badge" that the wiki says unlocks it. Maybe I did, though.

The only enemies so far that mess me up are the ores because it's hard to tell if they're doing the triple sweeping attack or the dodgable front wards attacks.
Really op get better, I beat the first boss (cleric demon or something) on my first try, just be patient and don't get greedy. That being said I do feel that the blood vial system is complete shit since if you run out of vials in a boss fight you suddenly have to go farm said vials all over again rather than just going back in. Obviously I don't need all 20 vials but having to stop to farm when I do run out kinda sucks, the game should just auto move spare vials (anything after 20) to your storage shelf to eliminate this piss poor farming method brought on by 3 minutes of loading because we can't just sit at a Lantern to reset mobs instead of teleporting out and back in.
Honestly, after 5 hours i managed to engage the first boss and in the first try i klled him.
The câmera, however, give me a hard time at the boss fight but nothing ground breaking.

No, why is that a bad idea? I really just despise farming breaks in a game where I have to warp twice to reset the mobs. None of the other games ever had a limit of 20 on their healing items, neither demon souls no das2, das doesn't count since it gave you estus at every bonfire.
It does it with more than just vials. Before you ask, run past the doll and up the stairs. Go in the house and your storage chest is just to your right.
DSP also duped a ton of coldblood dews and basically boosted himself to a ludicrous level and still every inch was a struggle

You need health vials to supply them. In many areas of the game, vials don't drop at all.
The best way to deal with it is to make bullets and then try to use regain on something to make the health back.

Even ignoring that, the idea that anyone would use that heal ability for half of your entire bullet stock is ridiculous. Invaders will use the cannon (10 bullets) since it can end an otherwise extremely long match very quickly.
Not even close. DaS2 is the hardest (especially the scholar version) then maybe BB. BB does have some bullshit parts but I found the vast majority of it to be extremely easy. BB is weird in that like 95% of the game is extremely easy and the other 5% is ridiculously hard. There is no in between.

You need to shoot the sword as soon as he puts it down.
Other than that it's just dodging through his swings and hitting him a few times. He's also one of the easiest bosses in the game to parry. When he runs at you to swing, firing when he reaches you will almost always parry him. In his first form, baiting out out his scythe swing is also an easy parry.

There are no blood vial upgrades. Iosefka and Arianna will give you a single-use vial that's better, but then you gotta go back to them to go get another single vial. The up-side is that your normal blood-vials scale based on your max HP anyway, so they never get outdated.
The only issue would be the "true" ending, which Arianna has an item for. There are 4 in the game, you need 3 of them, and 2 of those 4 are potentially missable. As long as you haven't killed Iosefka before killing Rom, you'll be able to get 3.

Leave your game running in rest mode. After 12 hours it bugs out and becomes easy mode. Bosses only execute their basic attacks, no special moves. That's how 99% of people beat BB. They didn't know they played a bugged version of boss fights. They think they're good but they're not. All those people beating bosses on first try are just experiencing the bug.
Probably because they lower your HP by half and scale the damage you can do in co-op. And you die in 1-2 hits. And dying after helping someone run the entire area feels like shit since the host will probably die and you don't get humanity.
Low health, enemies have insanely high damage for the amount of hp you have. A lot of enemies break your combos for a free hit, or have multi-hit stuns. Most bosses have massive sweeping attacks that can hit you even after you dodge through them, etc.
Basically, the game is meant to be unfair enough to force you to heal or regain. In Souls games, usually once you learned an enemy's moveset, you could go a whole game without ever taking damage.
The never-evering was a reaction to the "I can't play it so it looks shit" bridgade. Not the other way around. Sonyfriends get the blame because everyone hates them for some reason.

WAIT OP LISTEN, the meta of the game changed completely. Before in Dark souls and Demon souls, enemies had more or less predictable attacks and most people used shields and heavy armor while looking for a chance to strike. Not everyone did but most people starting out tried this. Bloodbrone is completely different. Because there are less shields and regen, the game is made to be balls to the walls. There is no more passive play. The main thing you're suppose to do is parry. YES, YOU CAN PARRY THINGS THAT ARE MASSIVE AS FUCK. I mean this, THIS GAME IS ALL ABOUT PARRYING. Don't view the gun as a gun but more of a parry mechanic or think of it as a shield bash before someone attacks. Even if you are hit (unless one shot lol), you can regain your life while attacking. GO BALLS DEEPS when you fight, give no shits and dodge like a boss. When you try to run away, a lot of enemies have attack that are SOLELY MADE to get you when to dodge backwards so you want to actually go into the fight or sideways when enemies attack you. The game does have some bullshit parts OP, I know; it took me forever but you have to abuse your parry and you have to go in HAM AS FUCK. Don't run away and heal right up to bosses face whenever they fuck up an attack. good luck OP and anyone reading this.

Don't be afraid of being right next to a boss. You basically have to play like guts does. Imagine your guts and start fucking everything up. The game does have some annoying parts in it though but keep practicing OP and you'll become great.
