>four (4) billion dollars
Well done, Inafune. You fooled the entire megaman fanbase.
its not really that hard to lie to autistic kids living in make-believe fairy tale worlds though
These are the same people that convinced themselves he made megaman even after he went on record saying he didn't
Wait seriously, this is what the game looks like?
MM maverick hunter on the psp looked better than this
Fuck even MMx7/8 looked better than this
What the fuck happened
How come they all look like robots, and then that last one looks like some shit from Steven Universe? Can't they keep a consistent style?
Also, the fire guy's voice should be deeper.
>mfw I knew this was going to flop and faggots at uni kept defending the shit out of it when it was first revealed
Do you seriously think Maverick Hunter X didn't have a budget twice the size of Mighty Number 9?
Do you have any idea how much office space costs?
Do you know what it costs to hire these people?
Are you retarded?
I mean I didn't back this shit, but I'm glad someone did. It looks pretty cool. I'm probably gonna buy it when it comes out.
you know what this reminds me of?
>game could have been in a neat 2D style
No, that would actually take effort to make.
Let's make everything using unreal engine and unity and make the game look like fucking ass.
Let's also keep asking for more money so we can put unnecessary voice-acting, put digitized pictures of the retards that funded this shit and even more money to make DLC for the game that we'll charge for again after launch.
Come one guys, you can trust me and give me more money!
After all, I made everything MegaMan all by myself!
>MN9 is bad because it doesn't look like cod meme
You got exactly what you backed, so quit whining.
You must wecovah the eneagy immediately m-... Mega Man.
>reuse level design, art design
>shit out 100 poly assets that somewhat resemble original because 480x272
>let some korean faggot DJ remix the old tracks
>hire like 5 shitty VA to do 10 lines each
You could do that for under 100K
For good reason.
I'm pretty sure Mega Man X's highway stage had a long stretch of nothing until you encounter your first enemy.
What do you mean "we"? I didn't back it, Anon.
Truth of the matter is that no one really wants 2D sidescrollers back. I know you say you want them, but you don't.
>backing soulless notmegaman nostalgia cashgrab over sexy brown genie game
Sucks for you
>people actually defending mn9 and comparing MMX's tutorial stage with the third stage of mn9
I got halfway through this game before I realized that all you had to do was dash jump and charge the buster to win *yawn*
Did you actually play the beta for MN9?
There's actually level design and enemy placement unlike dated piece of shit X "hurrrr let's make you sit around and fight this same miniboss over and over, then hold right and spam your broken boss weakness then win"
Both games are linear but MN9 is actually a fucking challengr
>>Both games are linear but MN9 is actually a fucking challengr
They're linear but I wouldn't say MN9 is hard.
Seriously though /v/ stop pretending Mega Man had Metroid level design, it's always been point A to B.
>stop pretending Mega Man had Metroid level design
Nobody has ever said this. Metroid is about exploration, Mega Man is just advancing in a linear fashion while dealing with the obstacles (enemies, platforming) the game throws at you.
B-but they only had 4 million dollery doos, they couldn't possibly make the game good.
is he right? tought you guys always said graphics dont mean shit.
>MH X didn't have a budget twice the size of MN9
This is moot after a certain point. Both games are low tier on the technology latter, MH X was designed for fucking portables and somehow plays, looks and feels much better than MN9 which was designed for next gen.
>Do you have any idea how much office space costs?
Do you think all of the kickstarter cash went to fucking office space you mong? This game is being developed by two companies and has a development staff of seven people: Koji Imaeda, Keiji Inafune, Naoya Tomita, Takenori Kimoto, Manami Matsumae, Ippo Yamada,
A cheap office would suffice for a team like this, especially given they all have prior work in games and should already have the skills neccessary to survive and create a proper project with the right funding- of which MN9 received well, well, FAR WELL OVER ENOUGH than any other indies.
If office space is what caused MN9 to fundamentally operate worse than every other Megaman game- then Inafune is beyond all help and Comcept should just go away.
>Do you know what it costs to hire these people?
Hire WHAT people? You think Lowenthal and those no names are expensive? Well, maybe Lowenthal is a tad- because he's got a huge track record, but English VA's are known to be underpaid- massively. Ask Nolan North.
This game is fucking shit, suck my dick, and any of you who backed this is retarded - It showed bad news from the very first fucking trailers and has only one good fucking song which they ruined by looping it in that beta stage.
I backed Shantae for $300 and MN9 for $20. I was never actually interested in MN9, I just wanted to give Capcom the finger for killing Megaman. MN9 is so shit though Capcom will see it burn and take it as a sign to put Megaman on ice permanently.
"MUH GRAFIX" is one thing but we are talking art direction.
This was the concept art.
well, it does matter when the graphics are shit
And to think I used to be a fan of this faggot. Like many others, I was dumb enough to believe that this guy was the father of MegaMan. I was even kinda sad when he left Capcom.
If only I had know that this chick was the jewest of them all. I feel dirty.
If it looks like asshole, it looks like asshole. It is 20 fucking 15. We have 64 bit systems in place that can handle thousands of pixels and colors and people are putting in the bare minimum on graphical fidelity. Not even giving a shit enough to make a good art style.
No that faggot is not right.
Is this for real?
It looks like a first year college project.
No seriously, I went to a local college's open night where they have all the students show off their work and there were games that looked like this.
>It's not Mark Gatha
I know he's retired but still
No one said it has to look exactly like the concept art, just that it looks nothing like it. The concept art implies the game is going to have beautiful detailed backgrounds and a distinctive art style. Instead it looks like something that came off a shovelware factory line.
that still does not excuse shitty art direction and the game looking like some early era ps2 or psp game
we didnt expect highly realistic or something but we most certainly didnt expect it to look this horrible just looks boring to play and all in all mediocre
could have easily been a 5 dollar game on steam from the looks of it
Wait, you don't even get new weapons from the bosses you defeat? REALLY?
Do you get new weapons at all or is the whole game basically run forward, shoot, and do that zippy thing?
looks anons, i get it, it doesn't look great. and I'll admit, the anime-like concept art looks great. but fuck, i dunno i feel like because are complaining with such hyperbole it's ridiculous. i'm gonna buy and play this game.
Well then I hope you have fun with it, but it doesn't change the fact that the game looks like a piece of shit, I don't mean just visually. If you can actually have fun playing this thing I envy you since you must have no trouble keeping yourself entertained.
I don't really see anything wrong with the voice acting to be honest, I think you guys are just hearing it how you want to because you've already decided the game is bad.
Which it pretty obviously is, but that doesn't automatically mean everything is bad.
The game is being made around highscores and leaderboards, not actual challenging gameplay or fun
>that fucking "music"
>star wars blaster sound effects
Holy shit what the fuck
How is this remotely acceptable in the slightest
ive seen games that have no budget and were made in unity look better than this
and they can be shot, but that doesn't give you a power up. If you leave them to long while dizzied they get back up. Dashing through live enemies even by downed ones hurts
It's a pretty neat mechanic, keeps the game fast but also makes some bits difficult
Fuck off, shill.
Yes, you are obviously a shill because there has been one fanboy defending this shitty game at every turn for about half an hour or more now. It is blisteringly obvious.
You might be able to turn that off. You can turn off things like absorb effects and messages so maybe
Oh no I might actually use some facts and then report to my jew overlords.
>Head is a born con-man
>Staff includes SJWs, people who don't even like mega man and Shilling marketers
>People honestly thought a good game could come from this
Unless you talk to the community manager.
The music and the sound design are terrible.
Daily reminder she got in due to sleeping with the staff.
Not because of her liking megaman (which she's never played)
Not because she a talented individual in marketing
But because she's a slut.
And that slut is now in charge of what the company hears or not.
If you're going to use Unreal and aim for the concept art, at least take the time and patience to try and aim for an Xrd-style of graphics where the models look like sprites.
At least all that could disguise the shitty gameplay.
Where do you think they got the funds?
>That's fucking Zero.
No, this is.
Because that's literally what they said about the video when backers complained.
Ontop of that, you think MN9 is the only thing comcept's ever made? They've been trying to make money while making MN9, you know. 4mil isn't that much in the "AAA" game industry or in the industry at all unless you're some kinda indie working from your mom's house.
dunno mang, for some reason /v/'s got this massive hate boner against MN9
People are also seriously unrealistic as to what 4mil can do. Inti creates is working on this with comcept, it's not like inti creates isn't any good.
Like look at this >>291027629
Xrd's graphical style took years upon years to make, they developers said so too. If you tried to do that with 4 mil while trying to make all the content promised it would never ever work out. Sure, Inafune's a businessman but that at least means the fucking game's gonna come out.
The no. 1 thing I'm disappointed with with MN9 is the soundtrack. The melodies themselves aren't bad, but the instruments are so understated.
>They've been trying to make money while making MN9
So why didn't they fund the game themselves instead of scamming thousands of people?
So you don't have any proof. You've got a conspiracy even Mulder would laugh at
>Complaining a megam man game rips shit off
They had literal zakus in original ones. the whole series is ripping shit off.
Why not? Since when is making money illegal? Game development isn't altruism. I'm surprised you're even asking me this.
You're a fucking retard, Mega Man's an astroboy parody and Vile is literally purple boba fett
I know /v/ has to hate MN9 now but let's not go overboard.
The game is still being made on the original price. the rest is extra content. Extra content doesn't grow on trees so they need money to make all that shit. /v/ seems to think if you pour more money in you can just do anything
Also the soundtrack is a bit lame. Everything else is fine and a lot of the time pretty good
the anon already answered but
>Q: At the same time as the new funding announcement I saw a teaser for Mighty No. 9: The Animated Series. Did comcept use Kickstarter funds to produce a Mighty No. 9 cartoon?
>A: Absolutely not, the funds from the Kickstarter are going towards the game and all related content our partners are creating for us. The animated series project is a completely separate endeavor; the good people at Digital Frontier took it upon themselves to reach out to us, pursue the idea of an animated series, and generate all of the assets/content seen so far. They’ve been really passionate and amazing, and we’re lucky to have them put their faith in the franchise!
But it's not like you ever read any of their news posts just what /v/ says
People are going to pretend it's good just like they're currently pretend Pillars of Eternity is good.
It's just the way it is. I mean, there are actually people who are saying PoE is better than NwN2, there will be people claiming Mighty No. 9 is better than your favourite Megaman game. Just you wait.
You don't have to watch it. You don't even need to think about it. You could watch one, both or none. Neither have effected each other, and the roiginal point that it took money from the game is false unless someone can present evidence otherwise not just go it totes happened guys
Who /WF/ here?
But seriously though, the only interest I had in Inafune was thay game with the animal pirates. MN9 looked neat, but I didn't really put money into projects, so I juts kept tabs. Now that ends up dead and MN9 looks mediocre at best. Maybe I'll pirate it and find it enjoyable, but as it is it's like a rich poor man's Mega Man.
Holy shit you guys! That totally reminds me of this old mini game!
>looks like there's no carried momentum in dashing at all
There isn't, it doesn't just look like there isn't any momentum there actually isn't. You also get infinite air dashes.
It's embarrassing watching /v/ talk about this game
People literally have no idea what the game even plays like and then believe the worst about whatever anyone says. You people even believe they stole money form the kickstarter
Like this shit >>291030939 people will actually believe the level doesn't have multiple paths including hidden shit, you don't go up and down and there are no pits cause a bad mspaint sketch says so
>People literally have no idea what the game even plays like and then believe the worst about whatever anyone says.
>the level design mostly consists of featureless hallways with enemies randomly scattered around
>the enemies are a complete non threat because they flinch just from one shot
>there's barely any platforming or interesting level gimmicks
>locked rooms with piss easy enemy swarms that brake the pace
>bosses are completely pathetic
>besides Mighty No. 2's stage the music is completely uninspired and awful
>controls feel stiff, mainly because the dash doesn't carry any momentum
And before you open your trap, yes this applies for 3/8 of the main levels, and yes I played the beta multiple times so I know what I'm talking about. Mighty No. 9 is going to be complete garbage.
I've played the latest beta and yes, all of these complains apply to 3/8 stages. This game will be complete garbage, so I'd suggest to just accept that fact now instead of living in denial.
>>the level design mostly consists of featureless hallways with enemies randomly scattered around
That's not true at all. The game is actually really good at having shit go on in the background. Enemies are smartly placed so if you are fast enough with the powerups you should have just got then you can kill them quicker
>>the enemies are a complete non threat because they flinch just from one shot
Depends on the enemy but because you need to be dash killing and because of the smart placement you have to be moving forward into danger more.
>>there's barely any platforming or interesting level gimmicks
Again not true. There is a lot of platfomring and every stage has at least 1 gimmick
>locked rooms with piss easy enemy swarms that brake the pace
Yeah they are a bit uncreative but some are good as you need to figure out good order to kill in so you get certain powerups
>>bosses are completely pathetic
They aren't, electricity one can be easy if the placement of her spark things goes wrong
>>besides Mighty No. 2's stage the music is completely uninspired and awful
Yeah it isn't amazing. Most tracks are okay though
>>controls feel stiff, mainly because the dash doesn't carry any momentum
It isn't at all stiff. It controls as good as old mega man
It's neither really. Vanillaware knows how to stretch a sprite in terms of value. Instead of redrawing a shit ton of sprites, they draw a disjointed collection of sprites that they can animate independently and swap out when they need to. Think of like Rayman, how his hands and feet aren't connected to his body so they're cheap to animate. Vanillaware does that, but in a really well done way where it's not easy to see the seams. All you have to do is swap out faces and shit for blinking or whatever and the body can be freely tween'd like it was Flash or some shit. That way you can make one big ass huge impressive sprite from painted artwork and have it do a bunch of shit before you need to draw another frame of animation for something else.
Dragon's Crown is basically the ultimate example of a small team with a lot of technical expertise making the most out of every asset to stretch the budget as much as possible.
>they're not horizontal hallways like MN9 stages
You obviously have not played the game. and are just repeating what /v/ says. Even that video everyone in the thread replied to disagrees
They don't watch the video you just reply with a reaction image like this one
Mega Man 1-10 except 7
All the X games
Mega Man Zero is my favorite series
Played ZX, haven't played ZXA
Played Legends 2
Rock man and Forte Wanderswan
Sorry I'm not a /v/ parrot.
Be honest. How much money did you throw away for this abortion?
I never said this game was good. But there's a bit more to that level than the first 5 seconds. Again, keep parroting, it's all /v/ does. Can't form their own criticism so they go with whatever's popular.
And you never responded to me when I pointed out how you were wrong. I know that anon there seems very nice and deserves replies too but I'm beginning to think you don't like me
Plus most of that is just regurgitating what /v/ says
Mega Man X sure has a lot going on in every screen, huh?
They didn't use any funds for the cartoon. Licencing works the exact OPPOSITE way of what you are saying. The people who wanted to make the cartoon from seeing how poplular it was or because they thought it could be big paid Comcept for the rights to use the characters.
That's the problem will every Mn9 argument. It is either stuff you can't experience without playing, rose tinted glasses or straight up misinformation
It's people who will say anything to hate the game v people who won't say bad of it. Really it's okay and most people will probably enjoy it for what it is
A picture would help, but since you know Mega Man so well you should remember all the stages and what they look like.
Game of the year all year.
I can post anime pictures too anon.
>Mega Man X was full of corridors
The only thing Dina did was annoy people who didn't back the game cause she was SJW. Not even many people got banned at the start with all the terror /v/ posted. It was a few guys and that Heavy person that posted the longest dumbest post that no one actually read. Also the lying about getting refunds with all the different ways got sad
If people are throwing so much money at this then why doesn't capcom just make a new Mega Man?
Or even better why doesn't Nintendo buy Mega Man from Capcom and make a mega man.
Nintendo should just buy capcom.
Megaman has always been linear as fuck no one is debating this. The problem with MN9 is that the level design is fucking basic and generic as hell along with non threatening enemy placement.
Look up Snake Man's stage from Megaman 3 and then look at any of Mighty Number 9 stages. There's a huge huge difference in quality.
But it does. take the ice level. You get these big jets of whatever that can freeze you. They can also make a platform to get up somewhere but block off another. You can break it to get there or use it to go somewhere else
If you actually played the game and had an open mind you may even have a good time
I just hate how the platforming works.
in Megaman X you get a nice feel of speed a momentum as you use dash jumps.
There's no dash jumps in MN9 as no fucking momentum is carried after the dash
It's why beck looks retarded when he dashes. It's like he plunges forward a distance and just stops. The animation doesn't even flow well.
because in other megaman games with that you'd just stop till the lights come on, otherwise you'd die as it'd trick you. In this you can sort of see where to go so will more likely risk it and thus more likely die
It is a proper evolution of the mechanic
