PS3 is probably on its way out soon, so let's have a happy thread. Favorite PS3 exclusive? Favorite HD remaster? Favorite PSN game?
I have a fat PS3
Playing Persona 4 and Valkyria Chronicles helped me through a rough period in my life
But Demon's Souls is still my favorite. I think I had about 300 or 400 hours in it.
Dragon's Dogma is the most different. It's also the best choice. That being said, I'd say go with Demon Souls to see if you like the Souls games. If you don't like it then you won't like DaS. Dragon's Dogma is a great game no matter what. Too bad you missed it when it was free on PSN a while back.
You know what's fucked, Microsoft dropped support of the 360 almost entirely as soon as the Xbone came out and no one questioned it or batted an eye, no one cares. People still buy an Xbone anyways because new games. But Sony continues support of the PS3 well into the lifespan of the PS4 and rather than enjoy the extra games and time with the console, people shitpost about how the PS4 is irrelevant because Sony is actually supporting their console family. I wonder if they should have just killed it off ASAP.
Would say Valkyria Chronicles, but not sure if that still counts. Otherwise, Atelier Rorona.
Fuck you, I liked it.
Devil May Cry HD collection.
Haven't played many, but probably Tokyo Jungle.
I love my PS3! I wish I had physical copies of my digital games, though some I didn't really have a choice for(at least if I wanted them in english).
>tfw returning to shadow moses
>tfw PS1 Shadow Moses dream
>tfw THAT LAST FIGHT HOLY SHIT
>tfw you're pretty good
>tfw this is good, isn't it?
I beat The Last of Us last night and I kind of liked it. It felt a little repetitive at time (especially when Joel gets separated from Ellie and has to go through spores, I sighed and stopped playing each time to do something else) The ended felt a little hamfisted though, overall I'd probably say it was 8/10. Some parts were done really well and I appreciated the horror aspects of it. Winter is probably my favorite chapter because of that part where
You have to escape the people chasing you as Ellie and you can fucking go full ninja on them
>came bundled with my PS3
>first time playing it
>seeing Unchartedman cover his head when bullets hit his cover
This blew my mind, I love it when characters react to what's going on around them
Got a launch, fully BC 60GB PS3. The thing has been trucking along since December of 2006. I'm a big fan of Taro Yoko's work, so both NieR and Drakengard 3 would be my top pics for the "best of," although D3 isn't for everyone. Also, I know I'll get a lot of flak for saying this, but I really enjoyed Resistance, Heavenly Sword, and Warhawk.
>had PS3 for 4-5 years
>played that fucker every day
>all these new games coming out
>my old dusty fucked up hardware is living on its last limb
>my fan literally sounds like a jet engine every time I turn it on
R.I.P, you beautiful beast.
PS3 turned out to be such a GOAT console. Got it one year ago and played so many games on it
I used to hate it at the start cause nogaems. I have no doubts that PS4 will end up in the same way
I just picked up a second PS3 for my work (I have a lot of free time). I got it on ebay for 100 bucks. It came with Skyrim's GOTY edition, or whatever the fuck they call it.
I'm glad they are continuing the support of the PS3, simply because there aren't enough PS4 games that interest me, and the PS3 games drop in price much faster.
TLoU really isn't as bad as /v/ makes it out to be. That said, it IS overrated elsewhere. It's a good game, and the multiplayer adds some life to it, but it isn't the game that defined its generation or anything.
>Favorite PS3 exclusive?
I already played it on moonrunes and now waiting for the localized version
>Favorite HD remaster?
>Favorite PSN game?
If you have the fat PS3, lay it on its side. It may not be as efficient at removing heat, but at least you don't have dust falling inside of it whenever the fan is turned off.
Probably Witch and the Hundred Knight despite the gameplay flaws. So glad the remaster is happening.
If I had to pick something else, I may have to go with DeS or 3D Dot Game Heroes.
That's a hard one. I don't really see all the hype in Ico & SoTC, namely in how Ico just feels clunky to me, and I feel bad about starting SoTC before finishing Ico. Maybe I'm a pleb.
I have to go Jak HD for actual games, and MGS HD for port quality (since MGS2 was 8.5/10, Peace Walker was grind/10, and MGS3 was 12/10). ZoE is also great post-patch.
Fat Princess is fucking dead, so I guess Tokyo Jungle. Top pomeranians, man
I thought that was so stupid that you made me get up and go look. It's just called Legendary Edition.
It was a really good name though. Bad enough to make me think "They can't possibly be that stupid, can they?"
12GB can be found for 100 dollars somewhat regularly on ebay.
Of course, you aren't going to get very far with 12GB. When I got mine with the Skyrim, all the save data added up to about 7 GB.
I got a ton of usage out of my ps3. The exclusives were good enough to actually make buying a console over them worth it. It also turned out to be really useful as a Smart-TV/DNLA streamer, and amazing for downloading games like DOA5 and sports games and playing them with 4 people at any time cus its saved to the internal drive. I broke both my official controllers out of game rage though
Ima let my nigga chad finish for me:
The launch PS3 was honestly beautiful. You got 4 USB ports, 3 of which were in regular use by me, built in Wifi, all that BC, and the thing is an absolute beast as far as media formats accepted and files its willing to play. Want to play music that you have saved on an SD card? No problem. Want to stream video from a Memory pro 2 card? Go ahead. Want to rip a CD right onto the hard drive, and then transfer it to a portable hard drive? It's possible. Want to use a fucking boot disk to have Ubuntu on the PS3? It could do that.
It was one hell of a machine, and I think the vast majority of the public really didn't know what they were missing.
Don't forget about that OS. I fucking loved its simplicity. To this day, I've never been able to understand what the hell the 360 was trying to pull. They went from the blade system to some sort of mix between the PS3 and Mii's from Wii, to some sort of Metro look. The Wii was nice, except that you can't just press a button to highlight anything, you have to wave the wii mote around.
But the PS3? If you couldn't find what you were looking for very quickly, I honestly don't know what to tell you. I don't think its even possible to simplify it more than what they have. XMB was beautiful in its absolute simplicity and minimalism, and I'm truly sad to see it go and get replaced by something like Orbis.
The way I saw it, I was money ahead over the 360. Even if you only paid 30 bucks per year for Live, that added 240 dollars to the 399.99 console price (for the console that actually came with a hard drive).
And lets face it: while some people shopped around for the cheapest price and called MS to get an additional 3 free months for every year that they had live, the vast majority of people just spent 50 bucks per year, which would add another 400 bucks to the console price over 8 years.
>tfw Vesperia PS3's patch is finally out
>my Slim is too up-to-date
>can get someone from PS3Hax to CFW it as I heard that works
>tfw the idea of sending $55 and my PS3 to some guy is making me nervous as fuck
Can anyone tell me if the user "playerkp420" is trustworthy? A guy from a Tales thread said he consulted him and soon enough got Rogero 4.55, and I'm not sure if it's some over-convoluted scam
Bought the PS3 Super Slim two months ago for 150€, 8 games included.
I'm really satisfacted with this console, it is better than I thought. I used to avoid it since it had no games, but now it has a fuckton of them and a lot of extra features.
I have this and I cannot believe they call it "slim." Its almost as big as an original xbox
also someone told me that having it vertical can hurt the disc, is that true?
That is the one format I have found to not be supported, and while it surprised me the first few times I gave it a whirl, I adapted very quickly to looking for mp4 and avi file formats, which work just fine for the price of "free."
I still have a backlog dating back to PS1
That is the one form of the console that I've never used, and never even seen used, so I'm unable to tell you. I will say that the FAT is best laying on its side, as it keeps dust from settling inside the console when the fan isn't running, and I believe that the Slim is the same way.
It depends on the console, but for the most part, you are right.
Take this image, and every image of the fat PS3. They always showed it standing up. Add the text direction, and it really tries to make you think that you should stand it up, but it is probably one of the worst things you can do to the poor thing.
