My only major complaint besides technical issues like loading or frame rate (which honestly, besides Old Yahrnam doesn't bother me that much, it stays pretty close to 30 most of the time with an occasional hiccup), you really start to feel the pain of limited resources. Blood vials were an interesting idea, but my god sometimes I just want Estus back. What really kills it for me is that if you're doing a boss fight where you get hit often and heal often, you essentially have a limited number of attempts at the boss fight. It's kinda the same for the bullets, but I can understand bullets being limited.
Nothing kills my enjoyment faster than dying to a boss only to respawn at the lantern with so few vials that an attempt on the boss would just be a waste, so I have to stop fighting the boss and go farm for a bit. If it weren't for that one thing, I really wouldn't have any major complaints with the game.
>>291160104 Next to no playstyle variety (you have melee and guns, melee with a little extra guns, or melee and guns with items)
Artificial difficulty that surpasses even the worst moments of Souls games. Literally everything can stunlock you and kill you in a single combo. A lot of deaths feel unfair rather than you feeling as if you lacked skill.
It honestly isn't that long. There's only a handful of bosses, and most of them have pretty easy mechanics.
This is just a personal gripe, but to me it feels like there's a big lack of environment variety. Everything feels so.. same-y.
>>291162203 >Artificial difficulty that surpasses even the worst moments of Souls games. Literally everything can stunlock you and kill you in a single combo. A lot of deaths feel unfair rather than you feeling as if you lacked skill.
This entire thing can be avoided by moving and dodging. It just sounds like you aren't that good at the game. Artificial difficulty is a buzzword and does not belong in the same sentence as BB. At no point did the game feel like it was fucking me over with super health enemies or one hits I didn't deserve.
>>291166976 That image kind of sums up what I hate about Bloodborne's visuals. It definitely looks better than the previous games, but this particular scene is an ugly, blurry mess. Gameplay doesn't look quite as bad, but the edges all lack definition and have this weird color transition...it looks like bad image compression than any particular effect.
>>291167824 They fill the game with blur the hide the fact that PS4 can't handle AA, it makes close-up scenes or motionless screenshots like this look really weird, but the game itself has this shitty blur filter and it shows, but they had to do that because i fear if they forced the PS4 to do any more graphical processing the load times would be shittier.
Not that much. Its way more polished and consistent than any other souls game. The gameplay is perfect, the level design is the best in any souls game, the lore and setting are excellent.
Some cons: -PVP is well balanced but almost non-existent. Invasions are gone (now you can only invade people who are willing to be invaded) and there is only one arena. A shame -While the game is carefully (almost maniacally) detailed the performances will still be mediocre due to the weak fps. -There aren't that many weapons. It wont bother you that much since they're all extremely diverse. They should have added reskins and stuff, just for the sake of exploration -The game is shorter than Dark Souls 1 and it lacks of replayability. It's still a pretty long game (it will take you up to 40 hours of youre really good at the game, a second playthrough without exploration could take up to 10 hours maybe). Chalice Dungeons helps but non that much. Thats obviously due to the lack of a decent pvp infrastructure.
It's still a god tier game and it can be easily the best souls game ever released.
>>291168228 >trap the enemies So what you mean is that the player is going a normal way, and that you're cheesing them? Nothing wrong with it, but calling that entrance the hard way has the wrong connotations, which you could apply to a babby game to make it sound hard
>>291168448 Chalice dungeons are a real let down imo. They could've done so much with that but its basically same shit different lay out every time. They could've made it so you have an increased chance of getting invaded while inside a dungeon or something.
>>291168448 Am I the only one who is dissapointed by the lack of rewarding exploration? I mean 90% of the stuff you find is coldblood and madmans knowledge or other junk. They simply let you buy most of the armor set/weapons, instead of placing them in the world.
>>291169259 The guy starts to imply "artificial difficulty" means difficult as if artificial means more difficult rather than being a descriptive term for the type of difficulty. Similarly, "easy difficulty" doesn't mean more difficult either, as easy is just a descriptive term for the type of difficulty, rather than some kind of enhancement or exaggeration
>>291169654 No I didn't, but nobody uses artificial difficult to mean more difficult, they usually use it to mean unfair or bullshit difficulty, otherwise bullet hells would be called artificial difficulty in every goddamn post
>>291160640 >Loading times seem longer than previous games, but it mostly feels that way because there's no item descriptions to read to pass the time. Demon's Souls is about the same in loading times.
>>291169000 why do people think this boss is hard? You guys must be shit at the game and not learn from mistakes.
>first try, rush boss. try my best to ignore adds >get rekt by all the shit around me Go in for round 2 >take my time beating all the adds while constantly turning my camera at boss to see when hes gonna shoot the meteor things >when he lifts his head up = comets are coming >he turns over = get away >ez
>>291168893 The guy is replying to the post with a file name that says artificial difficulty. Either he's saying they're difficult (which they're not), or he's admitting that it's only difficult because of a bug, which isn't artificial difficulty, it's bad coding.
>>291160104 1/5th of the game is loading screens, and unlike Souls they don't at least have item descriptions. It's like the team was so proud of the game that they wanted to remind you that you were playing it. Nonstop.
>>291161452 this ceased to be an issue for me after Amellia. I'm not even good at boss fights but there are ways to conserve and have a good reserve of consumables to the point where it isn't an issue anymore.
>Wanted to buy a PS4 for this ans SotFS >All this talk of low build variety >My favorite thing in DaS1/2 is various builds >I disliked DeS a fair bit for being so narrow compared to DaS1/2 in terms of builds/items I guess I'll wait a bit.
I just beat the hunter for Eileen in the Grand Cathedral by discovering a really stupid method.
Since he was able to 2-shot me and nothing I could do was able to get him to flinch much, I waited for him to switch his weapon to the mode that drains his health, and then I ran away. When he stopped fighting, he didn't bother to stop draining his own health like a dumbass. He had 3607 hp.
>>291172940 When I fought him be switched forms all the time, so it rarely drained more than a tiny bit of health. You just gotta get better at fighting other hunters. If you had problems with that guy, there's far worse encounters later on
>>291161452 If you're having issues with Vials during bosses, try this: 1, don't heal when facing the boss the first one or two times. I don't use a vial until I can survive to past 50% HP
2, by the time you've died a couple times to a boss, you're probably a pro at their level. Kill off a ton of enemies and head back to the dream and drop that shit on some vials.
It's easier to buy them than farm them, killing the pigs and drowned villagers going from the Shadows of Yharnam boss lamp to the middle of the Forest is a good way to do both, 2-4 vials per pig, chances at 1 vial per villager, and loadsaechos too. Ring your bell if you're in the range of the boss too. I did that and after 4 boss kills I had enough echos to max my vials and have 20k left over.
>As a long time fan of the souls series, I am absolutely furious i even considered buying this game. Here are a few reasons:
>1)Loading times kill the game. >2)The difficulty. Oh MAN. This game is like starting a NG++ but with a level 1 character. >3)No customisation like the previous souls games. I mean theres like only 7-10 weapons. and there like 4 sets of armour :/ >4)Non-rewarding: You defeat a horrible boss after the billionth try and it just gives you 5K souls :I and no drops either. >5)Online play is crap, takes forever to matchup. >6) No story at all, not even in item descriptions. >7)REPETITIVE to the millionth degree. >8)Unfair. at least the souls series were fair.
>Just skip and get DS2 Scholar of the first sin instead !!!!
The bosses after Amelia felt too weak. Maybe it was because I leveled too much up though. The hardest enemies for me were thouse 3 guys in the invisible village or how it was called, where these ring belling sluts summoned monsters all the time. These motherfuckers were stronger then any boss.
>>291173761 some of these comments are on point. The game is certainly not for casual gamers and the huge marketing push has mislead a lot of people into buying the game. But the assblasted comments complaining about bad game design is priceless.
Ultimately the biggest problem with the game is it's not on PC. With a better frame rate and shorter load times the game would be easier to play and less frustrating. And of curse the PCuckcs won't stop sour-graping this until they can emulate it.
>>291160640 >That's about it, other than those few problems it's GOTY.
Except, you know
No builds whatsoever means the game is a piece of shit you'll put away after you're done with it, it has no lasting power
Convoluted invadind mechanics killed early fun pvp and late pvp revolves around one shot kills, and the lack of builds means everyone plays the same anyways
Farming makes the game a chore and makes attempting to kill bosses on your first try pointless since you'll die and then you'll have to farm the consumables you wasted
Absolutely forgettable setting, story, and characters, there isn't even a CGI intro for fucks sake, shows how much they don't give a shit
Pathetic amount of weapons and armors means there are no rewards for exploring besides consumables
Absolutely unfair bosses that are made more of a chore by the fact there are no shields and you're forced to play a playstyle that might not be for you, the only playstyle there is in the game (fast edgy thief)
Game itself has about 1/10 of the content and depth of a real souls game which makes it a shovelware throaway title instead of a cult classic.
The list goes on and on. GOTY? Nah, mediocre 7/10. If we count it as a souls game, a 3/10, an abomination and blunder of the year.
>>291174128 I find the most vocal salt mines are the ones who claim themselves as die hard Souls fans. And they invariably are shieldfags too. Niggers just can't deal without the slow and methodical shield method for playing these types of games. They simply cannot wrap their minds around nimble agility to mitigate attacks.
>>291176285 If you can get the stagger the Blade of Mercy is a blender, but you won't be knocking most enemies out of their attacks.
When I used it, I found it best to dodge inside enemy reach and use the dodge attack and then go to town.
Sadly I felt BoM wasn't for me, even after spending most of the start of the game wondering when I would get it. I found the Reiterpallasch first, and like every other souls game, I fell in love with the rapier.
>>291176285 I'm under the impression I am overleveled, since I've been doing Chalice and helping friends and just getting free souls left and right, but it seems the bigger goal is to bait an attack, dodge to an opening, and then light them up.
>>291174887 >No builds whatsoever means the game is a piece of shit you'll put away after you're done with it, it has no lasting power You can focus on strength, skill, bloodtinge, and arcane, each stat has different weapons that are best for it, along with weapons that work well for quality builds between them.
>Convoluted invadind mechanics killed early fun pvp and late pvp revolves around one shot kills, and the lack of builds means everyone plays the same anyways They needed a better way of explaining how co-op and invasions work, not pointing you to the insight messengers is a mistake. Most PVP actually revolves around flow and healing, and doing your best to keep up the attack and push that advantage.
>Farming makes the game a chore and makes attempting to kill bosses on your first try pointless since you'll die and then you'll have to farm the consumables you wasted A change of tactics is best here, part of the game is managing your resources, you're complaining that you need to manage your resources.
>Absolutely forgettable setting, story, and characters, there isn't even a CGI intro for fucks sake, shows how much they don't give a shit The setting stuff is purely your opinion, and it's find for you to have it. I don't find most of the NPC's overly engaging, but I love the setting, and the story of how things went to pot has been interesting to find and discuss in the threads. As for the CGI, they've got the two trailer ones for leaving the opening menu on.
>Pathetic amount of weapons and armors means there are no rewards for exploring besides consumables There's fifteen trick weapons in the game, each (mostly) with it's own style and feel, using the Reiterpallasch is totally different from using the Blade of Mercy, for example. I found it best to think of each trick weapon as a weapon class, they simply did away with you having to get the new sword with the better numbers.
>>291177829 >>291174887 >Absolutely unfair bosses that are made more of a chore by the fact there are no shields and you're forced to play a playstyle that might not be for you, the only playstyle there is in the game (fast edgy thief) You don't really have an example of how a boss is unfair, so I'm going to ignore that point until you present something for it. As for playstyle you generally have to be a dodgy mother fucker yes, but certain weapons can use other mechanics to alter that. For example, a prime way of using the Kirkhammer or Hunter Axe is to charge up their transformed R2. The attacks have hyper armor on start up, meaning even if you eat a hit, you'll still attack. The attacks deal so much damage that you'll heal yourself of all the damage you took in the hit with the Rally mechanic. With heavier weapons you can become a counter hit machine. This is not a souls game, you are punished for not being aggressive. Play like you've got a pair.
>Game itself has about 1/10 of the content and depth of a real souls game which makes it a shovelware throaway title instead of a cult classic. It has I think three fewer bosses than the other games, takes about the same amount of time to complete, even with speed run glitches like fence jumping. The biggest thing that I've seen taken away is how Covenants work, this time around they feel very barebones, with no one to tell you how they work, you're basically left on your own for how you want to work within them.
