Am I the only one who thinks this is the only one ever worth touching?
small, flat, boring map
plot is just a bunch of movie cliches/references
muh 80s OST
overrated as fuck, San Andres was so much better
San Andreas had a big map but it was fucking dull. Everything was brown, even the people.
After IV/EFLC made guns actually feel like guns and not nerf toys, I have trouble going back to older GTAs.
I mean, VC/SA had superior soundtracks and stories, but IV/EFLC are just so mechanically beyond VC/SA. Argue all you want about how great Tommy or CJ were as characters, but I'll take mechanically superiority over flamboyant color and story.
>After IV/EFLC made guns actually feel like guns and not nerf toys
it's an improvement but the guns on 4 are far from being realistic,
let me also mention that 5 was a downgrade in both shooting and driving from 4
>it's an improvement but the guns on 4 are far from being realistic,
Never said they were realistic, just that they felt closer to guns.
And even then, my bigger point is that after you've kneecapped people and watched them tumble down stairs clutching their heads to avoid cranial trauma, it's hard to go back to standing stock still listening to a rifle lightly pop until the other guy falls over with canned animation.
GTA V just feels like there is something missing, but I think that's due to not having any real antagonists. I thought it was about to go down when that Mexican cartel guy makes you pay for his girlfriends house, but you only hear from him and see him like 3-4 times and. The changing characters were alright, but you switch so often that you don't build a connection with them. I'd like a GTA game where you make your own character like how they have online, or even saints row and you have a rags to riches story. All the characters felt out of place, Franklin wanted to better himself, but was always doing fucked up shit. Trevor was just some depressed dude with a random personality, and Michael wanted to fix his relationship with his family, but kept doing the opposite and making it worse. I'm a good 60% done with the game And it just feels like there hasn't been any character development at all.
I'm playing Chinatown Wars on the DS and am having a lot of fun with it. Took some adjusting, though.
The drug dealing system is addictive.
>buy a shitton of coke for hundreds under the market price per-bag
>sell it all to a desperate dude for several hundred OVER the market price
>make nearly 100k
NO WAY TO CONTROL IT
ALL OF MY SYSTEMS ARE DOWN
DOWN DOWN DOWN...
Not entirely proud to admit, but I played the shit out of CW on my iPod Touch.
Nothing beat making big drug scores, then beating feet across the city to hole up away from the cops. I only wish they'd made a port of it for a real console, shit would have been so cash.
the game's humor isn't in the cutscenes and yet it's still the funniest series out there thanks to the world and npc's and the dynamic chaos that ensues as you play; which is exactly how humor should work with games.
The lack of a real antagonist bugged me as well. Hell the lack of a real protagonist bugged me and there were fucking three of them. The only semi-interesting one was Michael and he was a cheap Max Payne rip-off.
I remember right at the start I was forced to cycle around as Michael with his stereotypical "gamer" son. Fuck I wanted to die.
>play as Franklin
>annoying faggot who just goes with whatever Tonya and Lamar say and never thinks about the consequences
>play as Michael
>faggot keeps whining about how his wife is a bitch and his kids are thankless dickbags
>play as Trevor
>faggot is basically Hunter S. Thompson filtered through a Duck Dynasty lens and spends the first hour purely shitting on TLAD
It's like they couldn't just focus on one character and flesh them out.
I just don't get the love GTA improves so much with every iteration.
How can people deny the updates to driving, shooting and maps?
I actually just enjoy driving around and watching the weather/environments change gradually now and don't need pure chaos to keep entertained anymore.

It's pretty good. Takes some getting used to if you haven't played the older ones, since the top-down/isometric perspective can be annoying at times, but beyond that it's got a good story with a cool protag and a good amount of mission variety, plus drug dealing that hooks you in.
I don't know about you guys, but I just finished GTA V for the first time and I loved it.
Call me tasteless, I won't even care
It was my first GTA. Well, not really because I did play GTA IV but never finished it. Might come back to it since I own all of the episodes
I think it does especially with some of the earlier GTA missions. Plenty of Vice City missions have aged considerably
>Lovefist limo mission
>Mounted helicopter gun missions
>All of the shooting missions with stationary enemies and scripted enemies rolling out of cover
>Anarchy mission with the bikers
>Toy helicopter mission
None of these are at all interesting anymore and wouldn't stand up today.
So, what do you guys make of this?
It drove me up a wall because I consider myself
a feministand this bullshit cherry picking in the video is the stupidest shit ever I won't link the video so you people don't yell at me
if anything, one should play VC before playing new entries because of shit like this >>292182153
the older controls and shooting mechanics would make it a lot harder for new players to get into if they are experienced with the more recent additions.
The only GTA I ever liked was GTA3
>That city design
>that silent protag
>those celebrity voices
I think the only legitimate complaint they ever mention is
the lack of good female characters.
I am of the hot opinion that in the next GTA at least one of the playable characters in the story should be a
girl, I think that would go a long way to bite every one of these nitpicking idiots in the ass.
One of them made a fucking blog post about why she 'hates video games' because they 'appeal to to the male fantasy'
I thought all of these accusations where debunked for being uber-retarded?
GTAIII had better missions and mission givers than Vice City in my opinion. If one of the GTA games gets redone I hope it's this I feel like it has the most to benefit from a makeover.
Vice City is too focused on representing the 80s and SA already has a lot of the features the more recent GTA games have.
I hope they just add one female and keep the multiple protag idea going. With all the FIB and other agencies going on I don't think it would be that hard to add a believable female character without making her some empowered dyed hair 20 something alternative girl.
I'm not sure about that.
The multi-protagonist thing just made all the characters dull, none of them got fleshed out.
Alternative chicks would be liable to commit crime...who knows?
>GTA V was San Andreas so GTA VI can be GTA VIce City
You faggots know this is going to happen. They've made HD versions of every ajor city besides Vice City. I just wish they'd focus on other locations than HD-ified shit they've made in the past.
This is why Red Dead will infinitely be more interesting as a sandbox series, since they can literally create any new location and call it the west as long as it feels like the west. GTA is too established to try anything new.
Not only that, but Rockstar hinted that GTA: Online is the future the series is heading towards, so no more singleplayer GTA and say hello to always online GTA MMO riddled with micro transactions.
I really liked that female driver, she was pretty based. Specially during the FIB mission thing with the Ambulance.
When will devs learn that we DO NOT want motherfucking MMOs
Just give us a decent single-player experience for the love of God.
I'm still yet to properly play Red Dead, but it does seem to be much less unrestrained.
>make female protag
>HAVE to make her a lesbian because no male strippers or prostitutes in the game
It just seems like unless you want restricted features and gameplay mechanics as a woman protag, it would be a rocky path I can see Rockstar not wanting to take.
Or they might just to stir controversy, who knows
ah yes, i think that's one of the best minigames in the whole GTA series
