Tryin to get back into this game. Can't decide if I should just man up and start hardmode or start normal. also general Dragon's Dogma
>can't bring myself to play any games
>just sit here waiting
>Have both the unarmed attack up rings
>Spent most of the game upping strength
I make them react if they want to or not.
Weapons and magic are for pussies.
They are special rings added in the expansion that you get from uncursing items from BBI.
Each one just flat up boosts unarmed damage by leaps and bounds and you can equip 2.
So then after getting those you equip your best shirtless set and proceed to punch everything.
If you're on 360 I'm still doing bib runs. I could also use some rents for my archer pawn.
Am I the only one who doesn't like that place? I don't have much fun dying in two hits at level 130. I spent the majority of the game as assassin and sorcerer because I was told BBI gear would make up for your stats. Should have been Warrior for 40 levels ;_;
What is different enough about dd that it doesn't get labled a souls clone, but lords of the fallen does?
Is it just because its japanese that it gets a pass?
>First time I played I was a Magick Archer
>Literally sweep BBI on my first run
>A time later, retry as a Strider with levels on Fighter and Warrior, and a huge load of sinergyzed feats that make me have +60% strength literally all the time.
>I get mowed down by dark pawns and literally every monster after Dark Bishop
What am I doing wrong /v/
It has a vastly different structure to Souls in both terms of mechanics and world structure.
For mechanics, the biggest one I see is that your class determines your moveset and abilities, intead of where in Souls games your stats and equipment determine them.
World-wise, Dragon's Dogma is just a big open field, whereas Souls is more open linear paths to different unique areas.
Sure both games have swords and sorcery but how they play is vastly different.
Warriors generally need the large amount of HP that they gain through levels due to their low evasive abilities.
Plus, nothing better than tanking a hit while charging an Arc only to let it go and do 8 health bars worth of damage back.
All informative posts, thank you. I skipped it because I heard console performance was bad, plus I assumed it was souls style, which I do not like.
Will definitely try on pc.
Well they have almost nothing in common sooo
Warrior needs the health and defense so play Warrior for a while at least. Their weapons make up for the strength stat. Their skills are strong too. You'll be a great tank doing Warrior and Sorcerer though. Then a dope Mystic Knight. >>312966705
Well, for one I'm no minmaxer so when I did it I didn't really give much a shit.
But I found that a mix of those with a general lean towards Warrior for the HP gains worked really well for me.
Personally I put the HP at the most important stat to focus on leveling, since you can't boost it to absurd levels simply by using endgame gear.
BBI feels like it scales up to a point
On my character that was like 130 before I stopped playing, I flew through it like 4-5 times and then the next few were a struggle and I kept getting two shotted
I might start up a new character soon since its been a while since I've played but I don't remember the best builds or ways to level anymore
Last time it came out sideways so I just took a screenshot of my phone screen. Hopefully this comes out right.
How'd I do? Character she's supposed to represent in the next post.
>tfw no Major hairstyle
Looks like her eyes need to be wider maybe.
Hardmode is pretty anti fun honestly
I think normal has a pretty decent challenge/fun ratio but hardmode was always super tedious in DD to me
>I get mowed down by dark pawns and literally every monster after Dark Bishop
>Get to bottom of BBI after challenging but enjoyable dungeon crawl
>Final area is atmospheric plot advancement
>Beat final boss, job well done
>BBI 2.0, I want off this ride
>Finally get down to the bottom level and get a breather
>Welcome to the bottom level bitch ass Arisen, also we don't sell lube here
Killing two drakes in the air, diving off a dying drake down on a dark pawn sorcerer and instantly countering the eliminators swinging at your back is a nice way to end this run.
I really fucking love the character creation in this game.
Nice theme you got going there. I'm not skilled enough to wear good looking armor just yet. Need to cover myself from head to toe or the monsters in BBI will tell me I was asking for it.
I still haven't played Dragon's Dogma. Pretty sure I have the game thanks to the PS+ thing. Do I still have it even though I probably don't have PS+ anymore? I downloaded it but never played it.
I plan to make a cute shota boy main character and a tall onee-san pawn. I'm undecided on muscles for her. Plan is to have the shota be a sword and shield user, with the pawn either a ranger or a mage.
What's it take to make a mystic knight? I've heard they're good.
All I know about the game is that you've gotta fight a dragon that took your heart? The NPC you talk to the most becomes your love interest. The pawn system obviously. And the person in pic-related is named Mercedes and is apparently an important NPC?
>hits lack impact
>damage numbers everywhere
>even goblins are damage sponges
>pawns dumber than before
>knocked on your ass after every hit
>some vocations locked behind a level past 10
BitterBlack Isle is the expansion's content. Big ass dungeons with new shit basically.
Dark Arisen is the name for the expansion, though they re-released the game as 'Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen' which includes the main game and the Dark Arisen content (BBI, better fast travel, other adjustments) - that's the version they're putting on PC.
So i played this game for a bit on psplus. It was okay but i didnt get too far. I bought a gaming pc and lost interets in my console. Should i get it when it comes to pc?
Im very interested in the game. Sell it to me guys
It's been said many times before, it's a flawed game that does things pretty badly, but the things it does well are very awesome. It's a game you either hate, grow to like, or instantly love.
It's a slow burner but once you get rolling and start getting skills the game just gets better and better and completely nails the feeling of being a badass and fighting monsters in a way that very few other games do
Really, the only complaints I ever had about it were how poorly it ran which will be fixed in the PC port so I would absolutely recommend it to you
>I get mowed down by dark pawns and literally every monster after Dark Bishop
Archer pawns are bullshit. Who thought that giving them Tenfold Volley that oneshots you in 99% of all cases was a good idea?
It can be a slow start because you have to max out vocations to get all the fun stuff they offer.
>sell it to me
Lots of customization when planning your play style
The game really captures the feeling of being heroic
Climbing enemies never gets old
Lots of berserk references
Has tons of problems but has good points that make you look past them
>get hit by Great Gamble
>all of a sudden get launched 20 feet backwards and take shittons of damage
How the fuck do you recover from being knocked down by Eliminators? They always execute me because my pawns don't fucking do anything. Am I supposed to just take it and waste another Wakestone? That shit is beyond retarded
The story without all the filler is super short. It starts when you begin the game, pauses, then starts up again when you go for the final battle. It's decent though.
Character development is there for few npcs.
The waifus provided to you are top tier and creating waifus has never been funner. You can change their manner of speech and control how they act in battle.
The story is goes from good to really amazing at the end, not to mention the addon. The focus is more on combat though.
Yes. Also, homo shit.
Either waggle the stick until it breaks or grab the Fighter augment (Egression?).
Did it as a male pawn at first. Didn't expect that as a female the next time I was up there. It was great.
All I want is a new world and dungeons
Minor combat improvements
So how did DMC4 SE do? I assume horribly.
She was raised by poor prostitutes. She decided she was never going to be poor again and set off to get rich. She uses their mannerisms to get her way. Doesn't always work because after all, she's just a virgin mimicking a slut.
"There is a small abbey in central Gransys which has never been known as anything more than “the abbey.” A number of sisters live frugal, modest lives in the abbey. These sisters are ardent followers of the Faith, kind and benevolent, and deeply relied upon by the people. Knowing that the sisters would never abandon a child, young babes were sometimes left on the steps of the abbey. Madeleine was just such a child.
Madeleine was raised as an orphan by the sisters, but in complete contrast to her gentle guardians, she came to hate being poor and to hate modest living. While she was grateful to the sisters for raising her, she also vowed that she would never serve the Faith as they did."
Based on her dialog she would never stoop that low. Also she carries daggers to protect herself. Her one true love was gold until she met you.
She has the cutest post grigori speech at your house.
>Her one true love was gold until she met you
She sure did seem ready to spread her legs for Julien.
And now we're entering retarded fanfiction territory.
Quina was born to a mother of the healing Faith, and a father, rough around the edges like most fishermen, who was one of the many that sustains the small fishing village of Cassardis. Having little contact with him, Quina was raised strongly influenced by her mother and her gentle nature. As a result, Quina was often picked on by the other children. You were the only child in Cassardis who did not take part in the bullying and even defended Quina. Having lost your own parents at a tender age, you did not hesitate to stand up to those who bullied Quina and her mother, fearless of injury or reproach. Thus, you appeared as nothing less than a hero in her young eyes. When the other boys heaped abuses upon you in return for your bravery, the meek Quina began to search for a way to return your kindness.
Upon her parents’ passing and alone in the world, Quina grew into a beautiful young woman and she focused on learning the basics of healing magicks. The people of Cassardis, making their living on the sea, often suffered injuries both large and small. Quina healed the injured fishermen free of charge, sometimes staying by their bedsides to nurse them back to health. This role made Quina a vital part of the village and many came to praise her for her kindness and mercy, and for acquiring such healing powers all for the sake of the village. However, her true motivation in acquiring these valuable skills was to be able to heal the one person she cares most for: you, who were constantly covered in bumps and scrapes from your adventures. You, who had suffered blows and kicks to protect her from childhood bullies. Quina only learned her magick to help you—and all of her effort seems to have been for naught when you decide to leave Cassardis. She begins to question what she is doing in the village. She begins to question her own value. For the second time in her life, she chooses a new path—all for the sake of her one and only hero.
Just an act
She knew fuckboi wasn't going to do anything.
Yeah I'm just shit posting now. Don't know where I got prostitutes from. Still, acting like a slut is a quick way to make money without actually doing anything and twitch will prove that to you. She was pretty smart.
The differences are too extreme. In normal mode you're pretty much a damage sponge that only dies if you fuck up super hard and in hard mode you get one shot by that snake in the corner of the room when you walk by to pick up some loot.
>Daimon 2.0 on hard mode
>when he's down to 3 gauges pretty much everything one shots you
My butthole wasn't ready.
>game is dead on ps3
>RC you got when someone uses your pawn is nulled if you're not on within a week of it returning
>no one hiring pawn to get RC in the last week
>can't purify everything I want to or buy the pawn makeover kit
This is bullshit.
>RC is nulled after not checking for a week
Yeah, nah, it was just a bad connection issue when he was sending back your pawn. A lot of people from /ddg/ got RC, months after their pawn was released.
>mfw first time bumping into death in the sewers
>RC you got when someone uses your pawn is nulled if you're not on within a week of it returning
My friend hasn't played in years and I was hoping he'd return to see 10 mirrion RC waiting for him from me.
Are you above level 100? I'm getting rents still for people in BBI. Rarely but I racked up 200k RC.
>I think that was because they were wrong/lying about hiring the pawn in the first place.
Yeah, that could be it.
From googling RC farming I see really shitty numbers per hour of grinding, so I guess I'm a bit out of luck until the PC ver is out.
>tfw CE table won't be ready for days at the least
>lying about hiring the pawn in the first place
Why the fuck would people do this?
I went through BBI wth my magick archer and destroyed everything but death until I got to Daimon. He wrecks me every time. I can't decide whether to keep my pawn a strider or a sorcerer, she's great as both. How is the ending with fournival's daughter? Any unique dialogue? I've ended with selene and the duchess so far.
Nope, you can go there from the very beginning.
It's actually fun seeing how long you can survive at level one. If you're good enough you basically get overpowered from the very beginning by completing the first quest there (reach a certain room).
Why is this game so fucking great? I haven't touched it in a while, but god damn I put hundreds of hours into it and even after a year or so since playing, it's still the most fun I've had with vidya in ages. Going through BBI for the first time as a warrior is something I'll never forget. The experiences you get in this game are something you just don't get in other games.
>fighting a gorecyclops in BBI
>take a massive, fatal blow
>tenacity kicks in
They clearly succeeded, at least with the gameplay.
New enemy groups in the Rotunda of Dread;
A pair of two Condemned Gorecyclopes and a group of five Corrupted Pawns. Three Elder Ogres, three Eliminators and three Sirens. One Drake, one Wyvern and one Wyrm.
New enemy groups in The Black Abbey;
A pair of Cursed Dragons and a flock of six Sirens. Seven Living Armors, one Wight and one Lich. Five Garm and a pack of two Hellhounds and two Wargs.
The story is great. /v/ is just full of retards who didn't understand it or skipped all the cutscenes. There is zero character development, this is because of a plot twist at the very end of the game though.
Character creation has some depth so it's pretty good for waifu shit too.
>Seven Living Armors
>feeling good about beating BBI the first time
>find out about BBI 2.0
>first area is 1 Gorechimera and 2 Garms
>goblin mages spamming lightning
It just never ends with Butt Blasted Isle does it?
God I love reviews like this.
>this game has too much gameplay, not enough romancing! It's shit! shit!
Help me play it again guys, earlier this year I did an assassin run up to level 140 with a mage/sorcerer pawn but I lost interest because I thought that BBI 2.0 was bullshit, especially gorecyclopses since my pawns were doing nothing and I had to beat them basically alone.
I'm thinking of doing a bullshit magick archer with a warrior pawn since people say it's the easiest class (solo perma stunlock second daimon form).
Also rate my pawn, pic related.
>Room with two Condemned Gorecyclopes
>Corrupted Sorcerer Pawns spamming Mealstrom
>Garms spawning in
It's simplest if everyone agrees that tastes are subjective and tries to argue their relative merits rather than simply calling them shit, but every now and then it's obvious that someone would be more interested in playing with building blocks than a game of chess, and there isn't really anything you can say to such a person.
It's even worse when the Pawns won't leave the Condemned Cyclopes alone. Manage to bait the Garms into the hallway and kill them all, then they go all out of the two cyclopes just chilling in chains.
Unfortunately, no. It's one character per account.
>feel like changing to MK after being an MA and a Sorc for a while
>mfw trying to fight Death when my only ranged attack was Stone Forest
Between my PS3 and Xbox 360 files, about 900 hours. Shit, I think my Xbox 360 character alone has 700.
I'm really glad it's gonna get a rerelease. Was an awesome game, even with it's flaws. I'm kinda bummed that we'll probably not see a second one, but who knows?
The MMO doesn't count cuz I say so.
Also, anyone else here try doing hardmode BBI level 1 their first run?
>haven't played since before DA came out
>my pawn got rented regularly
>i probably have LODES OF EMONE waiting for me when i finally do play again
What a magical time
One play style can last you 70 hours. There are 9 vocations with different ways to play those vocations. Then there's trying to get the right loot in BBI. A bunch of stuff really.
Well, the time includes all the time I spent on vanilla, plus the resurgence of Dark Arisen. Really, the community is what kept me playing for so long.
Oh god this thread is making me want to play it again so bad. I have dark arisen sitting in my collection and I haven't played in years but I also want to wait until the PC release for the maximum effect of returning to an old love...
Depends on the Vocation, usually melee oriented classes like Fighter, Warrior, Strider want Scather as a main inclination with Challenger as a secondary. Ranged classes like Ranger probably want Challenger as the main and Scather the secondary. I'm not totally sure about Mage / Sorcerer Pawns as I've never had one.
Best Greatsword coming through.
I broke it down into different things. First, just playing the game. Next, exploring all the classes. Then I did a ton of hiring as a service. Once that got old I started taking pics. Then I tried actually RPing for once.
Mitigator for taking out annoying little shits. Great for magic users because they use more wide area attacks.
Scather for taking on that giant fucker. Best for Striders and Fighters.
The main problem I had with the game is that the optional sidequests pop up, usually after every story mission and are missable unless you backtrack through the entire already traversed game area and check every NPC to see if they have something new to say.
It's more than a chore and it always gives me an uncomfortable feeling that I missed something and I need to go check if I did.
Playing with a guide is preferred but then it saps a lot of the fun out of discovering cool stuff.
Other than that the mechanics of the game are great.
>Watching pawn fight Gorechimera
>See it start to dig into my pawn
>Charge Tomahawk missile shot
>Feels like time slows down to a crawl while I'm charging
>Arrow hits Chimera in goat hit
>It flys off a cliff
Who Ranger here?
Back again doing BBI runs. But seriously, did any of you niggers buy this on 360?
Every time I get it out of my head I see a thread pop up.
micro-transactions are basically pay for convenience, you can buy small 'passports' for increased exp or rewards from quests for a few hours, generally not worth the price. Only thing you could justify the price is the passport that gives you access to the extended storage and 5 extra slots in the bazaar and removes the cooldown from it. game is perfectly playable without it, I've been enjoying it.
>hitboxes weren't shit.
Oh boy. Is DD on the PC going to be Dark Souls 3.0?
Electricity > Fire > Ice
Just wait anon, only 2 and a half more months. It'll go by in the blink of an eye.
Is the "joke" you're going for here "haha dark souls 2 had shitty hitboxes and someone referred to shitty hitboxes in another game ergo it is Dark Souls 3.0" or is there something more to it?
Can I not share screenshots anymore? Where do they even go when I take them?
Retards like to throw the term 'souls clone' around, the same type of retards that throw 'wow clone' around. Take it with a grain of salt whenever you see either of those terms, DD is more CURAHZEE whereas DS is a slower paced game.
This is true, lightning is boss.
Because, fortunately, the video game community as hole is not entirely comprised of Souls tards. It's just goes to show how that game was babies first RPG for so many fucking casuals. It's their only frame of reference so they compare everything to it.
I haven't played on Hardmode yet but Normal mode turned into literally one of the most boring experiences i have ever had in a video game 2/5th of the way through the vanilla content. No thanks.
There is literally no challenge at all once you are like level 25 onwards. I had to put so little thought and effort into fights that i found myself spacing out, i always carried twice my weight in non used consumables and my bank was full of them, every ingredient i picked met absolutely fucking nothing because i was never gonna use it anyway.
Never mind, I'm an idiot.
Always try to do side quests before continuing with the main quest chain. Game is spit up into 7 'acts', many things are only available in their respective act.
Pawn inclination really matters.
That griffin is a dick.
Ogres attack women more frequently.
>That griffin is a dick
I think you meant to say "every griffin."
>Want to play DD again
>Don't want to burn myself out till the PC release
>Have to wait 3 more months
>THE INJURED GRIFFIN FLED 40 MILES EAST, THE COWARD!
Fuck that shit.
Really good. It's just sad the best armor stat wise are all ugly as sin thanks to the BBI endgame.
Oh man, taking screenshots without having to use facebook or a usb. Gonna be great.
Yeah I know, Ive fought the ogre in that place underneath the pawn guild and he drop kicked killed himself off the side of the cliff. Ive fought a random Griffon outside Gran Soren a couple times, but he flies away every time which I assume is still gonna be the case.
My main pawn maxed out Strider so I have her on Ranger now, just checked her and her inclination is Scather.
You can't do that at the beginning of the game very easily, anon.
I'll do it anyway through sheer determination and willpower.
ps this captcha is horrifying I was not ready.
They take on the strongest foes and are more likely to jump on them. If that sounds good to you then keep it and keep pressing Go during battle to increase Scather. What's the secondary inclination?
the fuck was capcom thinking? they really hate money
they threw that shit up now like right now they'd have black friday and christmas
that is free fucking money by Jan people will have bought everything else that came out this holiday season and be playing it and not recovered enough to buy DD
and I know the game is ready it's a fucking port they've put up screens
>He plays fighter
>he plays a vocation with red in it
That's fine I guess.
Mitigator is also a good Inclination. Mainly for crowd control since they take out the smaller enemies. I heard it's not a good idea to have both Mitigator and Scather since they might get confused on who to attack but if you're ever in need of your pawn to take out small fry while you focus on the boss then go Mitigator.
That means there are two inclinations tied with each other for second place. The inclinations are still the bars you saw when you created your pawn, different actions, performed or observed will increase certain inclinations. Your highest bar is the primary your second highest is the secondary, though all the other inclinations are still there these two will be defining ones when comes to pawn behavior.
You can use the chair at inns to swap your thirtiary inclination to the secondary place or keep it as is, you can also alter your pawn's personality there. You can also buy potions that greatly boost specific vocations from a pawn in the encampment where you first made your own pawn. You buy them with RC. DO not buy the reset potion, it just makes your pawn a dumbass again.
The way it works is the more potions of the same inclination you take the higher it will be on the list.
It's their manner of speech, it doesn't effect gameplay or anything.
Shortly before DDO hit, then it revived for a month before dying again.
What are your plans for pawns when you play in January? I'm going to go through first run as a Sorceror so I'm going to make a support/buff mage pawn and hire two warriors for fronline
Inclination has to do with how they act when it comes to gameplay. What they attack, how close they follow you, how often they loot and when, etc.
Personality is how they react to things. When they win are they arrogant, or shy or boastful, that sort of thing. You can also tell them how much you want to hear them comment on things. You won't be able to alter everything at once because of the way the game does it, it will probably take several sessions in the chair and some time elapsed between them.
Assuming we can have more than one pawn/save attached to our Steam ID, I'm gonna try to recreate the dream team I used when the game first came out.
I started to play again after a break with my 107 magic archer and this exact thing happened. 2 garms and 2 of those sorcerors.
Haven't played since. Im in NG+ and need to progress to everfall so I can farm wakestones.
Which of the two female pawn voices is the best? I played a large part of the game already with another character and i used 4. I really liked it but i don't know if i should try the other one out which is 1, it kind of sounds like it would suit older pawns more. I don't make lolis or anything.
Was anyone else's favorite thing in this game that you got a soaked status that actually mattered when you got all wet? I just loved that for some reason. Also the combat is pretty good but soaked man, soaked.
>Not using the Major's voice
The only thing DD needs to adopt from Skyrim is modding capability. If it had that, it wouldn't matter how small the core game was because modders would just expand from there.
That's practically the only reason Skyrim is 'alive' so to speak today. Can you imagine how fast people would forget about it without modding?
I think I remember once in some spot where a cyclops and three harpies were hanging out in a shallow river mouth or something and the harpies had the soak status. A pawn used levin on the cyclops while the harpies were just chilling nearby in the river and they all died. I've never been able to do it again, but it was really neat.
I didn't get that from that voice at all. Was it from the series or the movie? Cause i only watched the first movie
it's fucking amazingand didn't recognize the voice. Besides it's like >>313003945 anon said, 4 just sounds cuter.
>Ogres attack women more frequently.
Either do what I did before and have a big bara warrior bodyguard for those sweet sweet launching combos or make it a healer since I could never find a mage with just support skills and no offensive spells.
One of the very few games I actually don't like hard mode in.
The extra xp and gold gain just ruins it. Pawns aren't effected at all. Just awful implementation.
I really hope this is some thing that can be modified in the PC release.
started playing recently, made it about halfway through, realized that I never did lost and found and restarted on a new profile to use my old pawn. I made it back to where I was in a fraction of the time, but now im all bummed because I realized I never did the quest to get Madeleine's shop so now I have no qt clothes until NG+.
so many things are missable its a nightmare.
Start at 11 for big butts
Level 1-10 as a Strider
Level 10-200 as an Assassin
Will my STR build be enough to clean Buttdick Isle?
Anyone have the webm where the tornado fucks up the griffin?
I'm gonna be Big Boss assassin but I dunno about my pawn.
Either that or a Guts warrior.
Maybe a self-insert here I pretend to climb the medieval ladder from peasantry to knight to whatever you become when you marry a duchess.
Really wish pic related was in the game beyond those jagged looking ones.
