Why do you support such a fuck ups?
>That March, Dice took a knife to his chest. He later wrote about the experience in a blog post, explaining that he’d sunk into a cycle of depression and self-loathing triggered in part by his work on Trails in the Sky SC. “A thousand, thousand failures haunt me,” he wrote. “Failures that caused others pain, discomfort, distress. Failures so many I can no longer count them all.”
>In the summer of 2014, three years after they’d first formed a partnership, Carpe Fulgur and XSEED agreed to part ways. It had become clear that things weren’t working, and Dice hadn’t made much progress on SC since December, so Carpe Fulgur sent over everything they’d done and XSEED took back the reins. Publicly, the publisher maintained that the game would be out by the end of the year, but after what they’d been through, that seemed unlikely.
>cherry picking for your own agenda
>"Chavez, who at that point had moved from LA to Australia and was working for XSEED on a freelance basis, reluctantly took over editing on the project. At that point, she said, Carpe Fulgur had translated it all, but they’d still only finished editing around 50% of the game. “I had about six months to do it,” Chavez said. “For reference, about half of SC is 1.6 million [Japanese characters], which was about how much was left. FC was 1.5 million, and that took nine months.”"
>"Chavez crunched and crunched for half a year, editing text until her eyes bled. She tweaked dialogue, fixed typos, and started correcting all of the terminology mistakes that remained in the script. She estimates that the script clocked in at 716,401 words, which is roughly the size of 10 novels. For context: the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy is 455,125 words. Tolstoy’s War and Peace (New American Library Version) is 587,287."
Throw them some bone for the soul crushing effort in the localization process that leads the guys at CF to manic depression.
SC is still a great game worthy of your time and money
Fuck off Andrew Dice
>In the fall of 2013, Dice started sending script files to Chavez, who quickly saw significant issues in what Carpe Fulgur had done. For starters, the file format was incorrect; Dice and Light-Williams had worked in text mode on a CSV-formatted file rather than the spreadsheet mode that XSEED and Falcom had requested. “The way they had it set up was three lines in three separate columns, and all three lines are supposed to be in the same cell, so you just need a hard line break,” Chavez said. “So I just had to cut and paste, cut and paste, cut and paste.”
Youre a fuck up that will never get hired again
Carpe Fulgar was always garbage.
Good on them for introducing us to Recettear, but I'll never buy anything they release because of the Fortune Summoners censorship and the Trails fiasco.
>ad hominim and changing the topic
Fuck up or not, Xseed still managed to release the game after all these years. English SC has no censorship people have been memeing about whenever CF is mentioned. People slaved away to the point of near suicide to bring you this jrpg with a massive script. The game itself is pretty damn good too. Doesn't that deserve financial support?
Attack CF all you want; that won't detract from the game's quality...aside from some names getting changed in the localization due to the lack of lore bible when Xseed first handed them the project.
>LotR trilogy is 455,125 words
>War and Peace is 587,287 words
Holy dogshit. What a fucking giant mountain of WORDSWORDSWORDS just to convey a generic weeaboo shitfest "story".
Yeah Xseed should've known CF can't handle localizing this game. They need more man power to translate the script and not just dump it to two guys at CF. But hey, hindsight is always 20/20 right?
Can we make this a Kiseki thread instead?
Started playing again today.
Just finished the farm quest in the main story and completed a few sidequests, which apparently unlock new recipes and other nice little things.
I also notice new quests, some of them have "high" as difficulty level, should I come back to them later?
Also digging the system of CP and EP allowing for alot of versatility and choice in the battle system.
Being able to see the beasts strengths and weaknesses and other things along with the beastiary is pretty neat too.
To busy enjoying the game to even worry about the miserable cunt. Hopefully he can quit navel-gazing long enough to be happy with life.
By the way, what should I gear Estelle's orbment for? I'm in act 2 and I have aerostorm, lightning, and mega heals up on Olivier.
Try to give Estelle Earth Wall and Clock Down. She's support while Agate and Olivier deal damage.
playing FC? Rule of thumb is to do all the quest given to you asap since you don't know when they'll expire or reach a point of no return in the story
Why make a bait thread when they were only used in localization and didn't censor shit or affect gameplay? You make it sound like they had any real impact on the quality of the final product, also you're a piece of unfunny shit - quit shitposting.
I mainly have her equip the non battle quartz. I also will sometimes make her into a tank so she can distract some enemies by using taunt for some battles.
Other times I just have her do either impede, hurricane or build up cp for bosses.
Last Carpe Fulgur game sold literally less than 1000 copies.
He's a fucking asshole and should have completed the job.
XSEED are based tho.
XSEED are literally the american localizators that condemn censorship the most. Heck, they're probably the only ones. If you think they're SJWs I don't know what to tell you.
Except for the autoscripter which sends usage data back to him for "quality purposes". Also known to have done it with free-to-play ragnarok online servers and the guilty gear xx server hosted on his site
Tom literally threatened to quit if they did anything more than omit the ages.
I actually met the XSEED guys at E3, and trust me on this - the company's core philosophies were completely different from NISA, ATLUS, and NoA's.
Estelle is a jack-of-all-trades character, she's not bad at anything but not really good at anything either, and in this game specialization is better than versatility. She isn't as good of a physical attacker as Joshua or Agate, and she isn't as good a spellcaster as Kloe or Oliver (although Kloe's extreme water bias in her orbment kinda sucks).
You should probably focus her on support skills like Earth Wall, which snaps the game's difficulty in two to be desu. Also Provoke is pretty useful for taking the heat off of your squisher members since she can easily be outfitted as a tank.
Let me guess, you're one of those retards who screamed shrill accusations of censorship when the ages were omitted from SK.
What the FUCK are you talking about? If you're thinking of that GOG thing - that's something that you should be barking up CDProjekt's tree about, since it's a GOG Galaxy requirement.
It doesn't stop you from playing the game offline, and you can just prevent the game from connecting to the internet.
You haven't even posted any proof that Sara is trans. You posted a picture without context, and just claimed it was her.
Friendly reminder most people give zero fucks, you stupid little cunt. I don't care what combination of genitalia he/she/it/they/xur/toast might have, just that he/she/it/they/xur/toast does a good job.
Daily reminder that XSEED is literally worse than Nazi Germany
So this Sara is actually a tranny? Well now everything makes sense. Sounds like a total creep judging by the website.
Still mad respect for the work on all the games they've put on steam. I don't care if he fucks kids on his free time.
>Worst case scenario I give him some information about my play-through of Trails games
Even if you are telling the truth, why would it even fucking matter if some of the data from my play-through went to that guy anyway? What's there to give a shit about?
Not him but doing that without consent or any mention in the EULA is illegal. Any data sent from the user's computer to another without knowledge or consent is a crime in many countries.
Game is worth it for the Olivier banter alone. The man is the perfect kind of cunt.
muh wind hippie
But don't expect anything out of him; Gaius yet another background character with 0 character development.
I forgot he was even in the game until I had to get his trophy.
You know anon. All you had to say was wind hippie. Or Gaius.
Don't you have a Neptunia thread or Tales of thread to troll?
Nope, the localization jobs come with some extra features, like widescreen (and fixed the scripting for all the games), high res artwork when available, and he's hacked PSP features into the older PC games like warp points in Ys VI and new characters on Trails SC.
That's pretty based tb h, their games are super niche.
There's at a least one qt at XSEED. I hope nobody there reads this thread, I don't wish any ill to the company.
But is he? Evidence seems to point he's like CWC but with actual interest in how shit works.
Uh what's the problem? All he said was that only if a game will be getting an AO rating, which is the most extreme of circumstances and literally a killing blow to any reasonable amount of sales, will they have to censor. An AO rating is very, very bad for a publisher and they would be idiots if they tried nothing to fix that.
>Anelace becomes your second party member right away
>FUCK YEAH, ANELACE, I WAITED AN ENTIRE GAME TO GET YOU
>Start chapter 2
>"So one of us should go with Schera, and the other should go with Agate, right?"
Enjoy Anelace never until 3rd.
>Yeah, she stopped tripfagging due to creeps right?
I mean c'mon, stalking someone and cornering them in the parking lot of their workplace is taking shit way too far.
Oh come on, don't leave me here hanging. When you gossip you gossip good.
Sure it will. SC sold 5,000 copies on steam alone in its first three days. And btw it's doing better on GOG than steam. It is STILL on their top 5 popular games, and FC is still in their top 10.
Pay no mind to the doomsayers. They are simply wrong.
Xseed has my full respect for handling this game project successfully. They deserve all the sales they get for spending many years on this rpg.
This game must have quite the story if its longer than War and Peace novel might check it out later when I get some things sorted.
More words in the RPG genre is a good thing because it actually fleshes out the characters in that world, and makes it worthwhile to invest your time in something that's guaranteed to give you a meaningful experience. Better this game than most of those open world WRPGs that mindlessly let you roam around for your so called "freedom" in doing all of those petty fetch quests with mediocre plot, empty characters, and cheap gameplay mechanics.
>And btw it's doing better on GOG than steam. It is STILL on their top 5 popular games, and FC is still in their top 10.
That doesn't really mean shit when top 5 on GOG would be the same amount of sales as #50 on Steam. It's doing abysmally compared to FC.
For the record, how much did FC sell? (On the PC, PSP sold piss poor)
I'd imagine that SC would sell more than FC, despite being the sequel to a story heavy game simply because of the people who already played the first wants to know what happened
>I'd imagine that SC would sell more than FC
You'd be wrong. Of the people who played FC, many didn't even finish it, either because they didn't like the story, the graphics, or the combat, or whatever else. For the people who did finish FC, they'd be getting to SC now and playing it. But SC has no appeal for people who haven't played FC, or didn't enjoy FC. SC is a sequel that's guaranteed to sell less than the original by default.
Sounds like you're a good candidate for someone who will appreciate Trails in the Sky. You should check the games out for sure if you haven't already. FC is a charming and comfy adventure and SC is an action-packed emotional rollercoaster ride, but they're really just two parts of the same story. Playing through FC really gives you an appreciation for the events in SC and makes you really care about the characters as you witness the trials they undergo in it.
FC didn't sell 100k in a weekend, retard. Fuck off if all you're gonna do is be a negative nancy.
FC sold 100k over the course of like a year. The haters on this board are trying to compare that to SC's first three days because they want people to think nobody's buying it.
Delaying it for so long
Second part of an already big first entry
Released with alongside much more well known rpgs (for better or worse) like Neptunia and Tales.
It was doomed from the start. They fucked up.
Also SC's first week isn't over, and considering it's a direct sequel to SC nobody expects it to sell as well. I'm pretty sure not even xseed does. That would be dumb.
>It only sold 30k in the first week.
Trust me, it didn't.
SC isn't going to do as well as FC but it'll still sell at least half within a year and keep selling during steam sales for years to come
Just to let you guys know that even if SC just now isn't enough to get you 3rd, Sen could spark interest in FC/SC and get more sales then. It was designed to attract newcomers, after all.
Now hopefully Falcom can work on a game aimed towards fans which is better than Sen next.
Context is important, retard. You can't just take inaccurate numbers from the first three days and declare that it bombed. First of all steamspy itself says wait two weeks for accurate numbers. Second of all steamspy actually says it has 5,000 SC owners as of nov. 1st. That ain't bad for a direct sequels first three days.
Show your support by buying me both games right now so I can find out why people keep saying it's so good.
Falcom didn't even want XSeed to bother with SC in English. They wanted to skip straight to Sen. They're not going to want XSeed to go back and do 3rd. Sales have to prove it's worthwhile, and right now it's looking horrible. Not to mention Zero and Ao's shitty PC situations.
Don't have the 30k number, but there are these:
Also buy me SC. It's too expensive in third world. They said they'd look it up, but I'm not sure they will ever say anything about the fucked up price again. The price was probably intended.
If you think xseed expects SC to sell like FC did then you're an idiot. sc is a DIRECT SEQUEL. People will buy it who FINISHED FC. Therefore SC, by definition, will never match or exceed FC's sales.
> Dice and Light-Williams had worked in text mode on a CSV-formatted file
I do that all the time. A text file like
will open up fine in Excel or a spreadsheet editor. What's the problem?
>implying XSeed don't expect SC to surpass FC PSP sales
They halted the localization of SC to release FC on Steam to see if there was any chance of SC being successful at all. This was because FC's sales nearly bankrupted XSeed when they first released the game on PSP.
What really happened is that some SJW chased her off the internet after they threatened to kill themselves if XSEED didn't patch out the word "trap" from Akiba Strip.
Somebody went to check up on her - in real life - to make sure she was OK. It was done with good intentions but of course is kinda creepy at the same time.
Um yeah I'm not implying anything. I'm saying it outright. SC sales are limited to people who finish FC or buy them both together, period. I'm quite sure xseed knows this. Only an idiot would expect SC to outsell FC.
I was only comparing it to day one PSP FC sales, and yes XSeed expected it to outsell the game that nearly bankrupted them in the first place. That's just fucking common sense, especially considering the localization of SC cost more than FC.
Okay clearly you're retarded and don't realize that FC's PSP release, which bombed, is completely different from its PC release, which was hugely successful by xseed standards. That's the one I'm talking about, not the PSP release from 2011.
Hello kids, nice thread you're having here. May I join in on the fun?
>He was a sperg who waited for hours in the parking lot and dumped his sphagetti all over her ass when she was getting out of work.
Somebody should make a comic of this, I'm dyin
Nigga you made a stupid ass claim that doesn't even make since considering SC probably has more owners on steam alone than FC initially sold on PSP. Then your response to my request for proof was "FC sold poorly on PSP." well, no shit, that's the whole point.
I love everyone on XSEED, w-w-what are you implying?
It doesn't matter how much it sold.
What matters is whether it has made a profit. Didn't they basically pay just 2 guys to do everything and with 0 advertising they didn't spend almost any money.
You just need to look
>got almost killed by 11 years old boy
Not sure yet why everyone gives Kloe a lot of shit. She's been my magic powerhouse so far and doubles as the healer.
Everything she can do Olivier can do better without a water lock on 3 fucking slots.
Not to mention certain priest who is hands down the most powerful healer/support/mage combo in the game.
So how's character power ratings so far?
>Kevin (best support in the game with panic button as s-craft)
>Joshua (MONSTROUS speed and phys/mag DPS, slots locked for best magic type in the game, in his battle against certain major he was able to move 4 times per 1 enemy turn)
>Agate (wild rage is pretty exploitable and his crafts are great but he's slow)
>Schera (worthless outside of AT Advance but man that skill is broken)
>Olivier (best mage, but bad crafts only suited for finishing off weaker enemies)
> Estelle (easily outclassed in everything she can do aside from STR buff but very versatile and can switch between healer and tank roles if needed)
>Zane (his self-buff gives him enormous 1 target damage which can be exploited with team attacks but otherwise he's pretty mediocre)
>Kloe (only good craft is generally not working on bosses, 3 goddamn locked slots)
>Tita (physical ranged character who is just worthless all around)
>hard part of the job was done (TRANSLATION)
>editor is a huge faggot and causes immense delays
editors are ALWAYS whiny faggots
commie was supposed to have mahoyo out by now, and the TL is done for it or something
UBW had a similar months-long stallout thanks entirely to that faggot Message
editors are an easily replaceable cog in a TL machine I don't know why groups put up with their dramafaggotry. the most important aspect is THE GUY WHO ACTUALLY KNOWS MOON
Because outside that fucking penguin I don't have any reason to use the kek queen in my party once I can choose not to. Tita isn't as good in combat but she's cuter and can do this.
Which games take place in Crossbell and Erebonia
Welp looks like we are never playing the Crossbell games
Even in a game filled with smug girls, nobody is as smug as best girl.
Fuck SpaceDrake so hard. It's ridiculous how much the fucker sabotaged that project while still getting paid. The fact he's going around panhandling his own sob story and being the center of attention when he's made everyone around him suffer so much more is disgusting. I'd rather hear about the actual XSEED employees and freelancers a lot more than this fuckup and they barely get a paragraph each.
I know Dice gets a lot of heat, and to an extent he deserves *some* of it for his mistakes, but I can't help feeling a little bad for him, and I can't help but think he doesn't deserve *all* of this heat. It sounds like he meant well and might have done a good job in other circumstances, but had no idea of the scope of the project. I mean, there was a huge amount of text to translate and it seems he got into it without really expecting it. So I certainly wouldn't wish death on him, and I hope he can use this as a learning experience to be more careful with his next project.
/v/ 2 years ago
>please based xseed feed me TiTS and ys
>more like xshit amirite?
>Finished FC yesterday
>realize there are no guides yet
>don't want to miss half the sidequests
Fuck I really want to play, but some of those sidequests in FC were pretty obscure. Don't want to get to the end of the game and realize I missed a million things
Is that really Sara? I swear I've seen picture of her before, and he looks nothing like her.
Although looking her up on google now, all of her social media pages have animu pictures as profile pics, and not real pictures to speak of so I don't know.
That's not Sara though. Nice try though.
She's a bit chubby and doesn't wear glasses.
You're damn fucking straight it's not
By an artist who used to draw loli tentacle rape. He died or something or stopped drawing.
Ugh I don't want to start over but I just realized I am in late chapter 2 and missing 2 bracer points from 1 file about 4 hours back in gameplay clear back to just starting chap 2. My late chapter 2 playthrough is missing 7 bp because I'm dumb and didn't know about the election subquest. Ugh what to do.
This is how I feel too. I don't know whether I should sully my experience with a guide
and guaranteed to do everything but get everything spoiled in advance, or go in blind and end up at the end with half muh bracer points
Ya know it's funny if you've been a completionist as long as I have you learn real quick how to read guides without spoiling yourself in any real sense (no, knowing that chapter x takes place in y place is not a spoiler) like for using FC as an example only real thing I got spoiled on was that Amalthea was an upcoming boss fight. In that case it was literally big whoop I knew she would likely be one from the second they showed her.
Shit until 3rd. If you're playing on hard or nightmare you'll probably end up needing to use kloze or someone else instead of her. If you're on normal, just do whatever.
I wonder if I mistranslated when I first played though SC, because I clearly remember Joshua saying he got his shit pushed in. He could have been lying of course but I don't see why.
Or maybe Joshua nearly got the backstab for massive damage but got rolled upon being discovered, I don't know.
Joshua is not a fucking genius, he's a human weapon specifically created for killing and covert ops.
they censor the minimum amount not to get an ao rating, a rating that would prevent their game from being sold in stores
if you want to complain about devs trying to avoid ao, complain about the shitty widespread policy preventing ao games from being sold in stores
>believing the "SK will be AO" myth
No, they omitted the ages because the localizers were threatening to quit if they didn't have the right to censor it. They were planning much worse than just the ages but at least they reached a compromise by only taking out the ages.
>the localizers were threatening to quit if they didn't have the right to censor it.
I think you got it wrong. I'm pretty sure it wasn't the localization team that wanted to censor but the higher ups that just run the business.
Tom has even pointed out that the never ending struggle about censorship at XSEED is between the localization team who actually does the work and the business suits who just handle the money so to speak, board of directors and so on.
That's why companies like NISA and NoA are such fucking cancer because they keep censoring shit and making it an acceptable norm when it shouldn't be and it's a major fucking setback every time a censored game is released (and does well) for people fighting against it.
No you don't retard. I just posted a photo of her and it's clearly not the same person as the guy you posted earlier. I'm just pointing out you're a retarded shitposter. And even if Sara was transexual I wouldn't see the problem as she's anti-censorship.
So. How much story those two games contain? I heard they are shitload of sequels.
First Chapter is around 50 hours worth of story, Second Chapter is a direct sequel which lasts twice as long as FC. The third's game's a side story that focuses more on back story as the first two closes the main plot pretty well.
The next games are sequels, Ao no Kiseki and Sen no Kiseki, and they happen in the neighboring country of the setting of Trails in the Sky. They're all pretty much interconnected
Man when game actually forces you to use combat system it becomes pretty good, i'm surprised.
The current trend in anime right now is white haired girl or red head with a sword/flamepowers, sometimes both.
It's funny because proto Alisa did use a sword. Still has flame powers though. Rean however used a gun. That said the prototypes are even more generic looking.
it's gonna happen
Games are not books.
With book you are expected to read every word and that's the thing, in a game there can be lots of dialogue, or other text that players can read if they want to, or happen to come across to, but is clearly optional, giving the game larger scale and depth to the world.
I seriously cannot make up my mind for final two.
I don't give a shit about not having any magic, Joshua can GG that I just want to use all three of those guys in a party, why do I have to take fucking Estelle with me?
When is falcom gonna hire a new artist?
The original tits had super anime eyes deviantart portraits for status screen but everything else looked just fine and much better than the current artist.
>why do I have to take fucking Estelle with me?
She is the main character.
You are lucky though. Now you don't have to use the main character for the last dungeons, though Kevin, Lloyd and even Rean are more specialized than Estelle which in the Kiseki series means that they are better to use than she was in her games.
That new artist is so bad at drawing different emotions.
Dont you go comparing it to Zero/Ao art. Even that has more emotion than FC Evo faces despite both having less portraits per person compared to sora arc
To this (actually tolerable compared to last but still pretty shit)
What baffles me is that both of these are from FC. While the first is deplorable the second is actually pretty good.
This one is the best
This is just FUCKING AWFUL beyond recognition.
Like I said that artist isn't the current Falcom in house artist used for Tokyo Xanadu and Sen no Kiseki.
Also I think they used the 3D faces for expressions in Sen anyway. Well for the main scenario stuff anyway.
>tfw they ruined dogi and adol
Fucking why falcom?
Either that or the country where this cunt destroyer is from
Not surprising given that it had some god-tier girls.
>which lasts twice as long as FC
What the fuck happened to the Ys Seven artist? He/she was really good.
Now we're stuck with horrible kawaii sameface.
I did a slow playthrough of FC and clocked around 50 hours. Now i'm 34 hours in SC and i'm still on ch.4 in SC from like 8 or 9. I've also looked at side quest list and apparently ch. 8 has more of them than any other chapter in game.
Okay so I got all the phones working in the bracer guilds, but now I
only have one character that can use arts.Someone please tell me that this issue is fixed sooner rather than later and that I don't have to fight too many tough bosses like this.
Is it really doing that bad? Sure sales on steam are fucked because of the haloween sale, but on GOG both games are still in the top 10. For a while SC was only behind the WItcher games which are always the top 3.
>looking at ao/zero stuff
>metropolis with skyscrapers and modern cars, apparently with policeman MC
>tfw already like it more than tits which are GOAT but take place in literal bumblefuck nowhere
>tfw technomagical settings like this are my fetish and playing as a policeman in JRPG is rare as fuck opportunity
>tfw the only way to ever play in them is via studying 2k alien symbols of the most fucked up language in the world
Either do it or wait 5+ years for Zero/Ao. You'd be able to play games decently after 2-3 years and play any games that aren't localized aside from Kiseki, avoid censorship, and play games earlier.
>You'd be able to play games decently after 2-3 years
But with how many hours of studying per day on average? Is 1-2 hours a day enough to get a decent level in 2 years, assuming I'm a decent learner?
Not him but for comparison it took me like 3-4 years to learn English to a level that I can understand what was going on in games and even more to flesh out vocabulary to understand pretty much every word. And that was with relatively easy alphabet and grammar, while being forced to study every day at home and school. I just don't really see how it's possible to learn Japanese from scratch without any feedback from people who actually know the language.
I was around 15 when I've learned enough English which was 10 years ago and I don't think my language learning skills magically improved in that time.
Genki 1&2. Use SKIP code for kanji. Read Yotsuba raw for practice as well as playing Trails in Japanese
Can anyone say how hard japanese is compared to, say, russian which is already considered to be a nightmare fuel for most native english speakers trying to learn it?
So far my largest problem with jap is a batshit insane amount of symbols you need to memorize just to be able to read something, after watching anime for 15+ years i can already understand some of commonly used words just by hearing them.
Sen1&2 together are a shitty retell of FC. Sen 1 is red hot molten garbage, Sen 2 improved upon it by just being an empty disappointment that doesn't get good until epilogue 1
