>From Software jrpg
Oh boy. Another shitty game like Enchanted Arms.
maybe they finally translated the inquiry I sent them
>sells their products all over the world
>gaijin pig write us in japanese or go home
Man PCfags are so creative with their shitposting.
>sickdark literally dark souls with guns who wants that?
>30fps silky smooth 30 fps silky smooth
>well get a good version eventually
>who wants souls anyway it is Assassins Creed
Why are you guys so fucking jealous?
I for one welcome console exclusivity. It's what made the last gens great and it also means I won't have to buy a shitty Xboxone down the line but can instead be happy with a ps4.
You know, after playing Bloodborne, I don't really care. That game wasn't all that good and really just goes to show that cooping with a friend was what really kept me playing.
>Nintendo makes sells nothing but Mario rehashes
>MS sells nothing but Halo rehashes
>Now Sony will sell nothing but Souls rehashes
Awesome news guys. Fuck this piece of shit modern console market.
You know, we joke about fox and grapes, golden face, etc etc etc, but this really isn't fair to their loyal fanbase, the ones that made Dark Souls a huge success, both on Steam and Xbox 360.
I'm not even mad, just disappointed.
no, that was just in general. On the whole there were a lot of good games. There were a lot more games than previous gen, and therefore a lot more shit came with it, but there were a lot of great great games.
Demon's souls was the one with the loyal fanbase.
Remember all these people importing it and threads on /v/ about how you should try this jap game because it is great?
There were already established with DaS1. Supporting them from there wasn't hard.
>implying you will even like the game
Here's how it would go if this game was released on multi-platform
>Hey new Fromsoft game I love Dark Souls!
>What is up with this combat system? Turn-based?
>Why isn't the combat just like DaS?
>Fuck this game it sucks just stick to Souls games FROM
So many people will ignore the fact that they're making a jrpg, buy it anyway cuz it's FROM, and then proceed to say it's shit because they don't like jrpgs. Mark my words this is what /v/'s reaction will be.
Do you niggers remember how exited everyone were before DaS release? The eternal threads about lore, strategy, keks, fashion... When DeS idea was perfected, and everyone were united in dedinitive vidya experience? How everyone were eager for DaS2? And how it all came down, how from began milking the cow to death with discount souls, while still rereleasing and pulling the strings on the main game series? Fuck man, from used to be something special. Just finish souls for good and move on. Or move back for AC. Just do something else.
Fun fact is that DeS got terrible reviews on Famitsu, a Sony shill magazine. And DeS is trademarked by Sony.
No matter how I look at it the Souls series became a meme all because of lets players. Just FN@F and Minecraft.
Funny how Assassins Creed has the same acronym as Armored Core, the series developed by From software that was doing yearly rehashes a decade before AssCreed and doing it well. Maybe you'd know that if you actually played video games instead of shitposting like this was something new.
Demonstrably not true.
Honestly and even then I really don't get people like you.
The only good thing I can say about FN@F and Minecraft is that their fanbases are very passionate. So as much as you would love to paint that in a bad way I will not hate Demon's Souls because of your shitposting.
I hope by JRPG it equates to Souls game.
That would be a punch in the face for those who say Souls isn't JRPG even if its from Japan.
>Souls isn't JRPG. Tips fedora.
Yeah. And we should then allow terms like "Souls-like" right?
Plus, I've never really seen anyone argue how Souls plays like a western RPG.
If western RPGs are that similar to Souls then maybe I'd hear more about them good RPGs that play like Souls.
>No matter how I look at it the Souls series became a meme all because of lets players.
Xbots and Pkeks confirmed for gone off the deep end. The game became a meme because people liked the formula and because of Bamco's hurr gonna die lots marketing strategy. When is meme going to get word filtered already? I should email hiro.
>The only good thing I can say about FN@F and Minecraft is that their fanbases are very passionate
The exact same thing can be said about the souls series
>THE MOST DIFFICULT GAME EVER MADE GUISE
>...once you figure out the bosses pattern it becomes a cake walk though
I still remember /v/ filled with retards praising this game for its difficulty. People even coined the therm "artificial difficulty" because of this game.
Really honest, the souls series is overhyped garbage.
Looking back and getting over the difficulty meme, the series has absolutely nothing to offer.
Wow, very excited for another meme game to be honest, boys! 10/10 meme games always from From!
Can always count on them to make a good meme game!
Do you know what that word even means? Demon's Souls being much more WRPG than JRPG was and is a widely held opinion and one of the reasons the game did so well in markets outside of Japan. Calling DeS/DaS a jrpg is like calling SotN a jrpg. You're right in the sense that it's an rpg from Japan, but wrong in every other sense of what makes a jrpg.
This again? Care to name those action-adventures that play like Souls?
Its JRPG because its from Japan and that is never going to change.
Its ACTION RPG as well because of how it plays.
Don't you think the classifications are fucked up when we never have the term WRPG plastered on western games, but JRPG is used in classification to the point of making it a derogatory term?
From Soft is a Japanese company making games. They're games are from Japan.
>never have the term WRPG plastered on western games
Are you a fucking retard? In the East, rpgs made in the west with elements of western rpgs are classified as WRPGs. Just because NA and EU don't say "here's a WRPG" and instead say "here's an rpg" doesn't mean that they aren't classified as such. I mean, it sounds like you think Japan refers to their own rpgs as jrpgs, but they obviously don't.
DaS3 is multiplat, retard.
From each game From makes it Sony exclusive, they give us another multiplat.
The fact still remains that the Souls series is stagnant and boring. Just like Mario, Halo, AssCreed, BamHam, CoD, and every other series that keeps being rehashed over and over again. No need to get so overzealous about it.
The point is that trying to classify the Souls games under a single specific genre is fucking retarded, no matter what genre it is. They're Japanese-made, Western-styled, action-adventure games with RPG elements, that's the best one can do.
SotN is actually a really fitting example of a similar situation, but eventually that got its own genre to make things clear.
What kind of console do you want, fàm?
>made in japan
>plays more like a WRPG
>combat of an ARPG
>with the number crunching of a CRPG
it's a bitch to classify, man. Let's just call it an RPG and save ourselves the aneurysm
The topic of the thread is regarding a rumor for an unreleased PS4 exclusive from FROM. I can only imagine the reason you're in it to shitpost about how Souls games are memey trash is to take the edge off that you can't play it by insinuating that FROM makes bad games. If you don't want to play the rumored game in the first place why are you so bent on insinuating that FROM is a WayForward tier shovelware dev?
>Game series' as a whole are just rehashes
You act like this isn't just a platitude. Every Mario game is the /v/ equivalent of a rehash after the first one. So is Sonic, Spyro, FF, Castlevania, DOOM etc.
Basically according to /v/ every game that wasn't a one-and-done deal is a rehash.
You don't even know what you're getting and you're already excited?
I don't know whether to find this sad or hilarious.
>JRPGs tend to focus on party of characters while WRPG is a sole adventure
This is my reasoning too, but Japanese RPG's could be considered to be any RPG from Japan, too. Which is where the confusion comes from. And it's not even just the origin that makes them the David Bowie of video games where they fit well in all genres and yet not at all in just a single one. Like a vidya chameleon.
The point is, they're going to make another Souls game, you know it's going to be another Souls game, it's going to be the exact same stuff all over again, and yet people are praising it like the holy grail of gaming.
Sorry if I think otherwise.
Bingo. That's exactly what I wanted to hear anon.
SO WHY ISN'T THE SOULS SERIES JRPG?
You said it yourself right. East Asia calls RPGs in the west WRPGs, but you can't call souls JRPGs?
CHARNAME-chan, you're so strong~
I'd like the son of Baal to balance my forest ;)
RIP Khalid, all time best vidya gaem bro
Mario evolved throughout the years, even though the most modern ones are just stagnant rip offs NSMB. Sonic gets worse each new installment, FF too. Castlevania, Spyro and DOOM are dead franchises.
The Souls series isn't evolving, isn't modifying itself, it's just the same game with updated graphics and panders to the same meme audience because From hates originality. How is this any better than Ubi milking AssCreed or MS milking Halo? It's the exact same crap that needs to die.
m8 you can call it whatever you want, but calling it a jrpg for any other reason than the fact it was made in Japan is wrong. Taken as a whole, the game is more akin to WRPGs and should be classified as such. Actually, it should just be classified as an ARPG, but you know what I mean.
I'd be interested either way really, unless it's like super outlandish and far away from what they normally publish like a shooter or something.
But a Fromsoft fighting game could be cool...
Seems more like showboating in a sinking ship of you ask me.
PC friends should make a petition, that always seems to work.
>but calling it a jrpg for any other reason than the fact it was made in Japan is wrong.
That's just mental gymnastics anon. I can give you a map and ask you to point out where Souls games are made and you would point at Japan.
>more akin to WRPGs
In what ways?
Interesting. Was the rumored game confirmed as a Souls-esque? Got a source?
I know you don't have one so go away already. You're not interesting to talk to and are just as ignorant as everyone else but instead of being excited you just want to shit in the cereal.
>The Souls series isn't evolving, isn't modifying itself
Oh ok, I didn't realize that each game having new mechanics, new enemies, and new worlds with new elements wasn't enough to justify it being "modified" or "evolved" in anyway. Like I said, every Mario game you kill Bowser so it's obviously a rehash here on /v/. My point was that only neo-/v/ has become this "anti-rehash" mob whereas every other game enthusiast has always realised that games carry over all the same elements while making slight changes here and there and gradually adding new stuff over each new installment. Only in the past few years has this become some kind of new and terrifying epidemic and that's only because people like you get pissy when the kids you know irl talk about AssCreed and CoD 24/7 and don't play any "real" video games like you.
Everything is a "rehash" and the only new developments being made in the video game industry are in the VR department. The only difference is that YOU don't like certain games and use "rehash" as a derogatory term to try and prove your superiority over other gamers. CoD is as much of a game as Mario is. AssCreed is as much of a game as LoZ is. Grow up.
>in what ways
Freedom to go where you want as well as freedom of choice in what playstyle you want.
>black mage only uses black magic
>white mage, green mage etc.
>knight class only uses these weapons
>range class for only range weapons
>and on and on
>You can wear knight armor and shoot fireballs at the same time
>You can be a battle-mage that uses a sword in one hand and a spell in the other
>You can basically craft whatever kind of character you want and change it at will
These are the basic differences. If a game is made in Japan with the elements of a WRPG then it is more akin to WRPGs and classified as such despite being made in Japan and vice versa. Basically you're saying that the only factor in classifying a game is country of origin and I'm saying that isn't so simplistic and there is more to it than that, but for some reason you want to disagree with me.
>>You can wear knight armor and shoot fireballs at the same time
>>You can be a battle-mage that uses a sword in one hand and a spell in the other
>>You can basically craft whatever kind of character you want and change it at will
Final Fantasy 5 is my favourite western RPG desu
Even AssCreed ads new mechanics to their most recent games. But in the end it's still the same old regurgitated formula for quick cash grabs from idiotic fans. Souls is series is the exact same.
Deal with it.
Again, like I said before, you are just angry that people like to play videogames that you don't like. Grow up and realize that every videogame you enjoy is just as much a rehash as anything else.
I'm jumping into the conversation to say that I don't know why a rehash is supposedly inherently bad according to the /v/ credo. If a thing is good I want more of it. You don't have to reinvent the wheel with every single sequel. In fact most of the series I love like Tales and Dragon Quest haven't changed much over the years which is part of why I like them. I can even think of some series that killed themselves by trying to be too different from their predecessors -- Silent Hill, Castlevania
So class flexibility is the ultimate and final game mechanic in deciding if a game is to be labled JRPG or WRPG then.
Something Japanese games aren't lacking of at all. See Fromsoft's Kings Field series from the PS1 era.
I'm telling you the only visible difference is from where the games originate.
Although they're SRPGs, Tactics Ogre and FFT had as much, if not more flexibility than many WRPGs at the time when they came out. They were also made in Japan. This proves, that even approximately 20 years ago that Japanese developers are not at all incapable of designing games systems that are flexible.
And your argument pinpoints why the term JRPG has become mislabled and even harmful to Japanese developers.
>Its JRPG so its systems are flat as a board
If a meme has been harmful in real life, it has to be this.
I'll all depends on the intelligence of the average consumer. If you're smart, you want new and challenging opportunities. But you're a dumb sheeple you want the same thing over and over again like a hamster in a cage. That's why AAA shooters and sports games sells so much.
I think they're refering to an actual "JRPG" not an "ARPG released by a Japanese studio," I don't think nips are unaware of what "JRPG" means but U may be wrong. As much as I love Soulsborne games I'd rather it not just be BB2. A new IP from From that's not just a reskin of DeS could be interesting since it's been years. I love King's Field and Shadow Tower and I'd love to see them give a different formula a shot.
>what will you play in the meantime :)?
Currently playing Disgea 5, and The Old Hunters comes out in a few weeks.
Then on to next year's line up with games like The Last Guardian, WiLD, Gravity Rush 2, Nier: Automata, NiOh Yakuza 6, Dragon Quest XI, Wattam, Gran Turismo Sport, Rime, The Tomorrow Children, and Deep Down.
I'm sure by the time I've made my way through all of them, this will already be released.
But hey, I like your memes, pal.
The devs haven't said jack shit. Some SE intern on the Playstation blog (of all things) said they're only marketing it on the PS4 but it doesn't exclude the possibility of future release elsewhere. Of course, this sparked all sorts of bullshit until SE made an official announcement that this game is and will forever be a Sony exclusive, because it's a partnership title.
End of the story.
The Last Guardian and NiOh were all ps3 games originally. Because the PS4 lacks so many exclusives sony started moving ps3 games to ps4. Is very pathetic.
Tomorrow children is indie.
No, Nier: Automata is in fact a PS4 exclusive. It is being developed solely for the PS4.
The devs actually replied on Twitter telling people who begged for a PC port to buy a PS4.
Some SE intern on the PSBlog gave a bullshit answer of "we look at all platforms when releasing a game" and reaffirmed that "Nier Automata is only confirmed for PS4".
But who knows, maybe 7 years down the line, you'll finally got your PC port.
Just like every FF game in recent memory.
>The Last Guardian and NiOh were all ps3 games originally
That were stuck in development Hell, and were remade from the ground up as PS4 exclusives, hence why they took so long.
I don't think you understand what a port is.
>Tomorrow Children is indie
Nope. It's Sony owned, funded, and published.
Why do people get mad when PS4 gets exclusives?
I mean, sooner or later you will get one
That doesn't make the game "indie", especially when Q-Games are only one of two developers making the game's. The other being Japan Studio, who are not independent.
It's owned, developed, funded, and published by Sony.
It's inherently not independent.
This is exactly what I was talking about. Those games are good and you enjoy them and every new game is about 70% the same as the one released before it and 30% new things such as environment, characters, perhaps some mechanics etc.
This guy is of the opinion that any game he doesn't like is a rehash. What he will not stop to consider is that every game he enjoys is basically a rehash in /v/'s terms and that essentially he should be calling you a "dumb sheeple" for buying each DQ game even though they are all very similar to one another.
The point I'm trying to make is that "rehash" is a buzzword that angry losers like this anon use to try and feel superior to people that don't play videogames that he likes. DQ as a series is just as much a rehash as CoD and AssCreed, but of course the "average" video game enthusiast doesn't play DQ so that makes it OK for them to be rehashes. Every videogame is a rehash in some ways and only 16 year old newfags think it's some kind of terrible plague infesting the industry, when in fact it has been a staple of videogames since the very beginning.
We already know that story...
>Look Sorny is going to make an exclusive!
>SornyFags start rubing his ass
>Start saying shit that is the fucking GOTY
>Muh, Surny eess bust cunsul evar!!!!!!1!
>Forget that game after a month
Who said it had to be Armored Core, you chucklefuck?
>tfw it could actually be a mech JRPG
We Xenogears-like now
>PS4 gets an exclusive
>LOL IT'S GONNA BE SHIT, 30FPS, SONYGGERS
>It gets released
>People still complaining
As of today, we still have people begging for Bloodborne on PC
>Xenogears fucking sucks
Mostly because it was unfinished
>And so does OPM
Okay. That's your opinion. Not sure why you felt the need to raise that point but okay.
>games funded and published by Sony like Journey are considered indies
>In my book, indies are digital only games
But Journey isn't digital only. It has a physical release.
I very much guarantee The Tomorrow Children will too.
>SE made an official announcement that this game is and will forever be a Sony exclusive, because it's a partnership title.
I doubt you can find a petition for Smash Bros or Halo on PS4 with that much support.
The majority of them just find it too hard. I know one guy that wanted to get it and was talking to me about it. I constantly told him Ok yes get it if you want, but believe me when I say it's hard. Of course he just said "oh yeah dude it looks awesome and it can't be that hard, I like challenge". He returned it almost immediately and complained that it was bullshit and impossible. He isn't even a "CoD/Fifa dudebro" as you'd say, but a lot of people just aren't used to difficulty in their games these days. Today's difficulty is just "dude did you know that using an axe on a tree gives you wood???? like it makes so much sense but you have to figure it out yourself!" as opposed to "what this enemy in the early game killed me in 3 hits that's just bullshit and stupid!"
Oh great, another "fucking nothing" game that we get to hear Sony fags shitpost about before they realize how shit it is and never speak of it again.
Yes because nobody ever talks about Bloodborne or praises it in anyway, it is also completely dead and forgotten about with no online players.
Denial isn't just a nigger speak in Egypt, m80.
Do you have a single fact to back any of that up?
Bloodborne is shit, hence the lack of anyone who gives a shit about it.
>piece of shit modern console market.
Have you even SEEN the PC market lately? At least the console market has a semblance of production values, developer passion, and a state one could call fucking FINISHED. Hell, who started the trend of selling fucking alphas?
Be accurate and say that the industry as a whole is fucked. Don't be an idiot and play the blamegame.
>who started the trend of selling fucking alphas
They aren't selling alphas, they are selling console ports which are basically alphas on PC since console standards are in the basement right now.
>Do you have a single fact to back any of that up?
How about the fact it just passed 3M sales, has multiple threads on /v/ every single day, has one of the fastest generals on /vg/, and the fact that I'm playing PVP in the Nightmare Frontier right now (:
But don't worry pal, it's totally shit just because you can't play it.
Also, 3m isn't even alot, game franchises and studios have died because they only sold that much.
>it's totally shit just because you can't play it
Ha, assumptions that make you look like an ass, congrats.
>Also, 3m isn't even alot, game franchises and studios have died because they only sold that much.
From has been alive for nearly 30 years selling a couple hundred thousand per game
Jokes on you I can access it all I want to because I've been a Plus member since the early years of the service but I'd rather not.
Mostly due to my shit internet connection and high ping.
>It’s been quite a while since From Software developed a proper JRPG. The last one was Enchanted Arms, released for Xbox 360 in 2006 and for PlayStation 3 in 2007
>Bloodborne isn't a jrpg
I hate this meme
It isnt, its a sickdark WRPG bastardization. The only people who get butthurt about this are the people who think that if it were a JRPG it would somehow make the game better and help them win arguments with people over the internet.
Nah. Its not like that at all though. I've had my share of online in Bloodborne, as I always play in online mode; yet keep to myself only. I try not to join PVP online, just PVE.
Not that I lose a lot in PVP, its because I imagine the other guy raging on why I can teleport and kill him.
No joke my first PVP in Bloodborne was in the Nightmare and I got attacked from the back by some dude and somehow I didn't get backstabbed. One combo from my right hand weapon and one shot later from my rifle and he was gone.
On PVE online at chalice dungeons, it feels really good fighting a boss together, but sometimes I'd get damaged and the boss would be really far away.
It occurred to me that I may actually be hampering others if I keep this up. Its even worse when fighting Rom in Byrgenworth.
Maybe when I get an even better connection I'll join PVP again.
why are they doing this pc bros? How could they betray us like this after all those dark souls 1 sales? ITS NOT FAIR
None of that wall of text makes any difference.
What is your point? That you don't pay for online because your internet is too shit? What does that matter to people who's internet ISN'T shit and are still forced to pay to play online.
Your subjective problems do not make any difference in regards to the objective design of a console.
>forced to pay to play online
You see the key here is that nobody is being forced to play online.
You can stay offline and play games. I stay offline and play my games while paying for the service I decided to pay for since the PS3 gen when online was free. I pay for the instant games collection and discounts.
If you want to play online, you are forced to pay. FULL STOP.
You wanna pay for half a game fine, but not everyone is as retarded as you. Mental gymnastics may make you feel better but they just make you look stupid to everyone else.
oh and btw
>Paying for a fucking coupon
Holy shit anon. You don't even sound like you own any playstation consoles to be able to talk like that.
I own a PS3, PS4 and PSVita, and have been getting hundreds of games for them since 2008. Every year I get stuff for paying my 50 bucks.
Actually complaining about online when its now included in my pay plan which I paid for since when the online was free.
Maybe you should actually consider that not everybody is a poorfag like you and that some of us have maximized the value of our investments without being so bothered about the online paywall.
What are you going to say to those who justifiied XBL last gen? Last gen I shittalked them too because they paid for online. Did they care? Did the media slam them? No! And because they defended them nobody has the balls these days to talk down paying for online on PS4.
This is the future you chose. Stop whining all the time.
Or maybe....MAYBE I am a grown ass adult with actual money so I have a PS4, Xboner, WiiU and an PC.
If i want to play online or get games cheaper than shit what platform do you honestly think I am going to reach for?
Oh. Alright then.
By the way my original bait was >He plays online
And you said I can't justify paying for it without sounding like a fanboy or something and that it shows I'm throwing stones while living in a glass house.
Its actually one reason why I said that I didn't play online
a lot on PS4. Shit feels bad anon, as I feel guilt having talked down XBL users last gen.
>message German devs in English
>they reply in Cückold
If it makes you feel any better they are dying a slow death with a shitty console and it's their own fault.
MCC is the only thing I've even bought for my XBO and i don't think I'm going to be buying anything else for awhile. That people pay for Xbox live is baffling, what the hell are they even playing on this thing, multiplats? How stupid can you be to do some shit like that.
Then again PS4 isn't much better, but apparently its thebomb.com console with one game that is super awesome but no one would know because no one can play it except those who have and their opinions don't matter unless they are positive because I say so and chromatic aberration is just a buzzword. The PS4 fanbase is probably the worst part of this console by far.
WiiU.....this shit is dead, wish i never bought this thing.
I'm ok with this. Better than Mario kiddie toddler dog shit for the past 26+ years or Halo for 15 years.
There is still a couple of years and rehashes in the Souls type games left before I get sick of that shit too.
>Hell, who started the trend of selling fucking alphas?
It was that fat lardass jew bastard fuck Gaben - whom we all considered our saviour. It's ironic that the fat gobbler weall thought would save us from casual shit and lead us into a new golden age actually destroyed the PC as a serious video games platform for the next 20-30 years.
Enjoy your paid Alphas to Tumblr Anthony Burch approved Notepad concepts.
So...this...is...the...power...of...PC Master Race....WHOA!
Btw. that viraled and marketed to ad nauseum shit Undertale - is that dreck free or do you have to pay for that MS Visual Basic 3.0 "programmed", MS Paint drawn and Notepad written modern instant PC Master Race classic?
>Then again PS4 isn't much better, but apparently its thebomb.com console with one game that is super awesome but no one would know because no one can play it except those who have and their opinions don't matter unless they are positive because I say so and chromatic aberration is just a buzzword. The PS4 fanbase is probably the worst part of this console by far.
So much bitterness between the lines.
They can shit out all the exclusives in the world, i still won't buy a ps4.
I just want 60fps, don't give a fuck about the games if it runs like dogshit.
I bought a wii-u for bayo combo, and that shit was a blast
>piss4 sonygger pony keks are willing to eat literally any steaming pile of shit that fat fuck miyazaki squeezes out
enjoy your meme game, autists. maybe you'll finally have TWO whole games on your library by 2017, maybe then you'd actually be able to justify your $400 paperweight. oh who am i kidding, you could have an exclusive for every frame per second you get in bloodborne and it still wouldn't justify the existence of your embarrassment of a console.
>ib4 le epin sonygger yellowface reddit maymay because sonykeks are so autistic they can't formulate a response without shitting out a dozen dank memes
Another quality PC exclusive.
Man i wish i had a PC with two 980 tis
I mean i literally want to kill myself, so many exclusives im missing.
Lisa...Undertale....Go Home..., League of Legends...and all those flash newgrounds Steam exclusive games...
Fuck i need a PC
Please make my PS4 worth its purchase From
You barely missed the target the first time
Someone post that empty shelf with bloodborne on it because thats exactly how my library looks, I even have almost the same shelf
>the two worst Souls players in history
>neither of them backsteps or parries or does anything but R1 spam for 15 seconds
Did you think this was compelling commentary on the PVP meta?
