We all know it's going to come down to these 3 games for 2015 Game of the Year.
Witcher's got the atmosphere.
MGSV has the gameplay.
Will Fallout have both and take the crown?
witcher 3 takes the crown for me. really liked the story, the atmosphere, almost everything.
>never played MGS because I don't like stealhgames and weird japanese storylines
fallout 4 will be pretty cool I guess. graphics are disappointing, but in the end it's about the world and the stories it has to tell.
Great year for gaming
>WRPGs are only GOTY contenders since 2009
>MGSV has the gameplay
I don't get this meme, it literally is mechanically worse than a modern splinter cell title and gets old in several hours. The gameplay is mediocre at absolute best.
Hotline miami 2 and undertale are the only worthwhile games released this year so far
The Last of Us was also story focused, unlike Bloodborne which is just another Souls rehash. Maybe it'll win best Playstation game, but it won't take Game of the Year with how split the ballot is because Xboners and PCfags will obviously choose a multiplat that isn't on their system.
2015 so far.
3. Rocket League
4. Witcher 3
6. Ori and the Blind Forest
7. Until Dawn
8. Cities: Skylines
9. Resident Evil Revelations 2
Wow, that gets dodgy at the end. How are there not ten obviously noteworthy games in a whole year? Here's hoping Just Cause 3 and XCX pull through.
Let's just HOPE Fallout 4 is just a Fallout 3 reskin
I haven't played the Witcher, although I heard it was pretty shit and I've seen quite a few JUST edits, and MGSV was total trash, even the gameplay
>and I've seen quite a few JUST edits
must be awful then
Witcher 3 is the game of 2015. No open world game has ever had such a good story, such a large cast of memorable characters, and one of the most immersion game worlds ever seen in modern vidya. All presented with few to no loading screens and high polish on release
Fallout 4 will win despite it being the same old Bethesda open world formula, riddled with glitches on release, and full of another cast of mostly forgettable characters and another bland soulless story.
Probably going to be Fallout 4.
Fallout 4 will have significantly more longevity than TW3 or MGSV.
MGSV has almost nothing to do once the game is done, and TW3 has som exploration but it does not even hold a candle to other Bethesda games (it's more like Ubisoft open world than a Bethesda one), so Fallout 4 will be the one that casuals put hundreds of hours into.
Putting that much time into a game makes it a more significant portion of your year, so it will be first in everyone's mind for GOTY.
>Game of the Year Contender
>Implying it even manages to grab Game of the Month
What rhymes with Undertale? Tumblrwhale. Get out of this board.
It's still one of the best looking games and especially the prettiest open world game.
And I played it on medium, so I could play as close to 60 fps as possible. Even on those medium it looks better than TPP on Ultra, first game that made me feel a leap between prev and current gen.
>Any of that trash GOTY
>The Witcher 3 The Wild Hunt
EXCELLENT SIDE QUESTS, thats it. world is ok (skilege seems to be the only place where NPCs actually do something) terrible combat and a shit story that drops harder when you get half way through it, game is too long that it gets too tedious
>Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom Pain
terrible story, terrible world, ok acting, worst entry in the series by far (gameplay, although good, does NOT carry a game), game also runs excellent on consoles, looks great and at 60 fps
yet to be seen, so far the choices are pretty bad and so is the graphics
A lot of Witcher 3 is lost on people who aren't already fans of the series. Same with MGS5, although a lot of that is just pure zany MGS nonsense that you can overlook.
>MGSV has the gameplay.
oh boy do i really love repeating same missions over and over again
>huge free roam map
>yet it felt fucking empty except for here and there some bases where you have to extract a soldier or eliminate armored vehicles
>ctrl + f "Broken Age Part 2"
>not a single hit
the fuck. Has /v/ now turned against Double Fine games?
Undertale is a deconstruction of rpgs and it even explains the thought process behind player choice. Sure, the music and gameplay and story all work together to form a cohesive whole but I don't think those are what make the game great.
Although those more shallow aspects of the game are what's attracting most of the game's fanbase.
>Tim Schafer says studio put nearly twice as much into crowdfunded adventure game as it raised on Kickstarter, "will just about make that back"
Have both Bloodborne and Witcher 3 for PS4.
I platinumed Blodborne in 2 weeks, I'm still only 74% in the witcher.
Witcher wins for me. Bloodborne was by far the easiest souls game, the dungeon system was forced filler content, and the lack of itemization was a step in the wrong direction.
Witcher 3 has better support as well. Poland seems like they actually care about their which is another reason im inclined to vote for them over some cocky Jap or Western dev who shovels out shit and knows people will buy it anyway.
I have Witcher 3. Don't have MGSV. Witcher 3 is a good game. The world and atmosphere are great, the combat is average. From what I've seen and heard MGSV has great combat but the story is fucked even by MGS standards. Looks like a great dicking around simulator with the blow up dummies, Jehuty hand, and whatnot.
Fallout 4 will won't have cutting edge graphics, as we've already seen. But my money is on the sheer world building and gameplay variety more than making up for it. I just got a hold of the full perks list and for the first time in Fallout I can find useful shit tied to EVERY special stat. It'll be hard to decide which stat I dump at creation.
Did you actually play it? No seriously. I HATE fantasy. Like tumblr hates CIS males. LOTR and harry potter can suck my hairy balls. But The Witcher is actually OK. Though you need to play the first game to understand the timetravel plot and see that it's actually science fiction hidden as fantasy.
Or a nigger. A lot of chimps at the community college next to the supermarket that hang out there are discussing fallout 4 for some reason. Never understood why niggers are always weebs and apparently like shitty games.
I've started playing Witcher 3 last month and it is the best game I've played this year til now, it delivers on everything you could ask for in a fantasy action game and the game is huge.
It got me hooked and I already sinked more than 100 hours into it.
And it looks really pretty on my shitbox of a PC too.
Easily one of my alltime favorite singleplayer games too.
MGSV was fun, but it just felt like a better FarCry and not like the end of the Metal Gear series.
Undertale was nice, but not the hyped masterpiece people here made it to be, dying light was also fun, but only in multiplayer and the friend factor made the game better than it actually was. Kinda like Borderlands.
Bloodborne was also fun, but it was poor, it was too small, it had a terrible design decision with the chromatic aberration and the 23 FPS in such a fast paced game.
this. At least when Witcher 3 fell for the open world fad, it did it right. MGSV has two maps of nothingness and the same four missions over and over again 300 times.
Just wait for mods and pirate FO4
>MGSV has the gameplay.
>it did it right
Witchers 3 open world was fucking terrible
>Empty towns with literally nothing to do and no interactable NPCs, bars, quests, etc.
>Almost every single point of interest is a guarded treasure, smugglers cache, etc.
Skellige was literally the single biggest waste of potential in open world history. Shit was terrible. I'm not saying V's was good, so don't even try a "yeah b-but MGSV!" rebuttal
>>Empty towns with literally nothing to do and no interactable NPCs, bars, quests, etc.
What the fuck are you talking about nigger? Most of the side quests were started in the towns. There was fist-fighting, horse racing, and Gwent.
I hated it too for the combat at first, but after they patched it and delivered the alternative combat flow I have to praise it, it works as intended, feels alot like a better more difficult asscreen combat with alot better animations.
There are literally towns that exists as empty space with static NPCs. Fistfighting and Gwent happened almost exclusively in the more relevant towns that at least have some kind of shop or smith, and Horse racing didn't take place in towns at all except for a few of them where you occasionally go through for 3 seconds.
Undertale fags ABSOLUTELY BTFO
Skellige is great once you realise that smugglers caches just contain some boring loot, at which point you can ignore them and focus on stuff that actually matters. There isn't really a need to 100% the points of interest the way you would in a AC game anyway, so I just turned them off in the map and if I came across one then whoop di do
My special edition gwent decks should be arriving this week
There are questboards in every hicktown though, and the witcher quests are always highly thought through, fuck I found a huge side quest while wading through a swamp to farm some monstertongues.
>three triple-A pieces of shit
>any of them GOTY contender
I want neo-/v/ to leave
Well, let's see here:
-MGSV was the worst MGS and a forgettable game when judged on its own merits.
-I haven't played any of The Witcher games, but 3 looks like your typical WRPG.
-Fallout 4, given Bethesda's track record, will probably be mildly entertaining at worst.
Unless TW3 has REALLY good writing or brings something unique to the table that I don't know about, then Fallout 4 seems to be the clear winner out of the three.
It'll probably be Fallout 4. While The Witcher 3 was a fantastic game there was a certain element of disconnect in the way you viewed the game, it was Geralt's story after all. The choices often made in the game and the way he acts are all of Geralt's character.
I see people taking to Fallout 4 much more simply because of the fact that there will be a greater element of connection to your character. The choices you make are entirely your own.
This is what will ultimately give Fallout 4 the majority of the goty awards.
>-MGSV was the worst MGS and a forgettable game when judged on its own merits.
This is what everyone has said about every MGS since 2.
It's gonna be called the best MGS game in a year and some people are already calling it that.
>I've only played one out of the three games but I'm sure one of the games I haven't played will easily beat the other game I haven't played
That's how fucking retarded you sound.
Also Witcher 3's writing is pretty good, at least a shitton better than anything Beth have done, ever
>Great year for gaming
You started playing games this year, haven't you? This year was full of disappointments, with more disappointments to come. Can't wait for 2016.
How about you get your fucking expectations in order then?
The only game I was hyped for this year was Witcher 3, and if you thought that was disappointing then I honestly don't know what the fuck you were expecting
Witcher 3 is easily the best of those
It would be far better if it didn't wear out its welcome in the long term, though. It's a shame it went for RPG stats in some ways instead of going closer to a full-blown system of combat and reflexes, which it was so close to
>No man's sky
>Dark Souls 3
>Ratchet and Clank
Yeah, it probably will be better.
The story was good though,
The games everyone is looking forward to next year aren't the gigantic marketed ones. They're games like Nier and Persona.
Oh, and FFXV, but it's no shock if that's shit. It was heresy to even speculate that MGSV could suck.
Nier wasn't even announced for 2016
And you think Persona is small?
Check the list above yo man, all you guys are waiting for are the biggest fucking titles each with its own big fat marketing campaign.
Just because GTA5 raised the bar on how much marketing can be done doesn't mean these are small at all.
>Check the list above yo man
Obvious meh, we already played the first 3. Who cares?
>No man's sky
Obvious shit. You can feel the development hell. This is the sort of game that would have been impressive a decade ago but no one will care when it comes out
Could be good
Could be good but unlikely
>Dark Souls 3
Will be roughly the same quality as recent Souls games. No reason to be hyped.
Looks like shit
>Ratchet and Clank
A remake we didn't need
Most of the games on that list aren't worth getting hyped for beyond brand recognition. With this year, there were games like MGSV that looked like they could do no wrong.
I never get attached to self insert characters who have no personalty. Geralt is pretty unique protagonist when it comes to recent wrpgs and it was nice to not play as generic savior of the world #1000 who you create and has a personality of a wet paper bag.
Well that's done, Geralt's story is over. Cyberpunk 2077 is going the Bioware and Bethesda method of creating a self-insert. Assuming there are more Witcher games at some point, they'll probably feature customs at some point,
unless they go with Ciri or Letho
You're kidding right?
There's one guy on here who hates Witcher so much he's spent months shitposting about it. Koijimadrones will go apeshit if Witcher fags win. Normiefags will too.
The core gameplay loop was good, but none of it is fulfilling. I feel no reason to redo more than a handful of the missions whereas Ground Zeroes kept me playing for a very long time.
>open world was shit
>mother base was shit
>many of the design choices was terrible
>side ops were all shit
>90% of the main ops were shit
there was plenty wrong with mgsv besides the shitty story
How do you respond to an argument that's just saying everything is "shit" without any explanation?
I though all those things were "great"
Except the weird machocist soldiers whose idea of training with Big Boss meant getting curb stomped and being grateful for it. Those guys creeped me out.
> 1. Witcher 3
> 2. MGSV
> 3. Hotline Miami 2
> 4. Ori and the Blind Forest
> 5. Batman: Arkham Knight
My PC Top 5 for now.
Monster Hunter 4
Yoshi's Woolly World
If any late games take my GOTY, it's more likely to be Xenoblade X than Fallout 4. MGSV was a pretty good game, but it had far too many massive flaws so it's not good enough.
>tfw have never played an MGS before V, played Ground Zeroes a week before V came out and enjoyed both immensely
Get fucked, everybody.
Also I've since played MGS 1 and 2 and they're far worse than V. Not bad games at all, but still a lot worse than V. Still hyped for Snake Eater, though
>haha i enjoyed a game suck my penis
Cause that's exactly what I said you fucking faggot
It really is. And don't dare go all fucking 'YOU JUST CAN'T HANDLE DATED GAMES' on me, my favorite games are Fallout, Torment and Deus Ex, which all dated a lot worse than MGS.
Fallout will win because Bethesda is the AAA-devs with the best marketing budget after Rock Star. And R* hasn't released a new game this year.
Also, Skyrim is still vastly popular thank to mods, so the Bethesda logo on the box makes retards automatically buy it.
The only possible other winner would be Witcher 3. But it won't, so whatever.
And all the retards itt who think some Japanese games with a seriously nice player base would ever, EVER, win the GOTY
