>Classic Game room is kill
He died the way he lived, without no one giving a shit about him.
You know what? Good for him. He got his enjoyment out of doing the show, and now he is done with it. He was using CGR to promote his new hobby anyway, it was clear to everyone who was keeping up with Mark that while he still loves video games, he didn't like where the industry was headed and wanted a way out.
>CGR Undertow will cease production by the end of the year.
Nothing of value was lost
What? He still uploads regularly to youtube.
after he switched over he lost a lot of viewers
when he came back his viewcount was a fraction of what it was previously
Ive been watching him since 2008 and now I got the feels.
How do we remove the e-celeb cancer from /v/?
He makes a decently living just collecting viewing royalty cheques from those docos he directed that are shown in the American public school system and he married into money as well. I'm just praying that he's not
burned out on videogames.
>professional video editor
If this where true why did he flip out when YT keked his channel last year?
>decent royalty cheques
Post em then.
>my favorite isn't there
I guess that's good.>>315302526
>burned out on videogames.
Anh, he's probably just burnt out of doing a new review every single day.
>he flip out when YT keked his channel last year?
That was the whole music right thing, which would mute a lot of his video. The 60% partner cut was like 2 years ago IIRC
Yeah he moved because he was afraid of muting/copyright strikes. The backlash was bad enough that youtube decided not to be so overt about it and he came back to YT soon after.
Yeah, what a concept. People thinking for themselves... w-whoa...
Couldn't possibly be bigger faggots than yourself.
>oh no people have different opinions
LGR does this fulltime. He was doing this fulltime since a little before patreon, but after copyright scares went to patreon too. He has confirmed in the comment section that he does it full time and on his facebook page.
>stop disliking what I like
Also CGR is terrible hence him losing views despite gaining subs.
Electronic old men
>comesback with 'autism' meme
Settle down there Mark will caress you and make it all go away
>if you're not a blind fan then leave
>Literally defending an e-celeb thread on /v/
>CGR shirt, mug, and hat
>Drinking from that beer mug right now
Damn, Mark got me into the Genesis, but I'm happy for him. The guy got to spend almost a decade talking about video games and running a great review show, but it just wasn't popular enough. I wish him the best of luck, and I hope the videos stay up for a long time. I still put him on autoplay in the background when I work.
>if you're not a blind fan then leave
No. It's just that you clearly don't like anything to do with "e-celebs" so why are you even in this thread? Just ignore it. The only reason these threads are even considered a problem is because people like you derail them into shitposting.
You had to pretty much decipher what he was saying, which only comes after you watch so many videos.
If he makes a 2 parter about it, great game
If he says HIGHLY HIGHLY recommended, it's a good game
If he just says HIGHLY recommended, it's ok
If he says "I recommend it for this audience" it's probably shit.
So you really ARE autistic, then? Don't worry, your mommy will make everything alright. She'll make the mean internet people with opinions and interests that differ from you go away.
>Just ignore it.
B-BUT THERE EXISTS PEOPLE WHO HAVE INTERESTS DIFFERENT FROM MINE, I'M THE ONLY ONE THAT HAS GOOD INTERESTS AND OPINIONS
EVERYONE ELSE WHO THINKS OTHERWISE IS A FAGGOT
He's not going insane. He's just a rambling unfunny try-hard douche that plays the games he reviews long enough to capture footage.
Get the fuck away bitch, those cabinets are gonna be mine .
>only decent game reviewer that isn't avgn or avgn knockoff is gone
Yeah he talks about eating doritoes and drinking beer whilst watching futurama for like 2 mins whilst he shows some footage of some random old game no one even owned back in the 80's. He can't 'review' for shit.
What´s bad about that announcment?
Undertow is utter shit and lately it seemed like Mark wasn´t really into the whole CGR thing anymore.
I rather have him upload 1-2 reviews per month that are actually fun to watch instead of daily lackluster stuff
I'm gonna miss him though. It was nice listening to someone who actually remembers what fun is talk about vidya, though the whole playing Truxton on the Vectrex while running over JarJar in an El Camino has started getting a bit old.
I hope he knows what he's doing, he's sure as hell not gonna make a living of Ethel the Cyborg Whatever. How much did his subscriber count drop when he moved off YouTube? Is that really the reason?
>no more undertow
Well that's good at least. I never understood the point of that channel. "This critically acclaimed game that already gets a ton of praise is AWESOME!". Not saying Mark was a hardass with his reviews, quite the opposite, but at least he would do some more obscure games/accessories/whatever cool stuff he got his hands on.
Mark was the 40 yeard old version of the friend you would meet up with in the schoolyard during lunch break to trade pokémon and talk about Star Wars and video games. Derek was always a true bro, I don't care what any of you edgefags spout.
>I’m going to be entering another phase of my life soon and will be concentrating on my writing, art and another career outside of the gaming industry. I plan to continue CGR as a hobby. The show originally started as a hobby, so in a way it will be returning to its roots. I certainly have enough games to keep me busy!
Does nobody read the links? He's not going away.
This won't be that bad. I'd rather him take his time with videos than get burned out/forced to do them like James Rolfe with AVGN.
I just wish he could have made one good shirt, everything besides the beer glasses kinda suck
Typical CGR review:
From the land of the intergalactic spaceship windsquid comes the almight lord Karnage once again to review ACE COMBAT 04. The 4th Ace Combat in the series, this game is much like the classic thriller movie: Top Gun. (I really should watch that again). That movie was spectacular, staring Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer. And they landed on a battleship in that movie. In this game you fire bullets at other planes, much like in Top Gun. Here are some other movies with planes: Snakes on a Plane. Con Air. Airplane. And the recent classic, Flight 91
Nobody will ever top these games. Best bro dynamic in gaming.
His stuff used to be okay. Then people started commenting on his LE EBIG VOICE :DD and then he started hamming it up and it became unbearable. It's like TotalBiscuit. It always happens. If you like someone's voice, stop commenting on it or it'll go to their head and they'll change it.
>shifting focus from video game reviews to writing and art
>"getting a real job"
Sad but this is what happens when you fucks let Youtube get basically a monopoly in the Internet video space. You're just asking for abuse, and then when creators try to flee only a fraction will follow them
I like how disappointed he sounds throughout the whole review. He went in expecting to play a fighting game and got a bland game about volleyball and taking half-nude photos of girls.
>several minutes of game footage with cheesy music playing
>not a word uttered by Mark until a good ways into the review
There goes a legend. As someone who got into video production I'd say Mark was a huge influence and a total professional whenever I talked to him. Am I sad? Of course! Classic Game Room was one of the few shows on gaming that felt honest and real. I'm glad Mark is fallowing his own path. He isn't whimpering like the AVGN. To the man who introduced me to Persona 3, here is to you buddy!
this is now a el camino thread post el caminos
