>bro fallout 4 soon >can't wait til fallout 4 man >dude they made music for fallout 4 fuckin cray >fallout 4 footage just got leaked man, HYPE >shit a dick, more screeneroonies of fallout motherfucking four
My friend's one of those weebs that loves anything with cute anime girls in it. It's always about shitty Kyoani shows or godawful games like Neptunia.
Anyway he always told me "man Project Diva is so good you should play it" and I wrote it off as just another game I wouldn't give a shit about because I was half convinced it would be a shitty licensed game based on vocaloids or whatever. But one day I was bored as fuck and just said "screw it" and downloaded the Project Diva F demo. That game was easily my GOTY back in 2013. Good shit.
I guess this post isn't entirely related to the thread but whatever. I sure don't play stuff like the newer Neptunia games for example even though he swears by them.
When I was a kid my friends kept trying to get me to play SOCOM, but it looked too tactical and boring for me. They finally forced me to play it at a sleepover one night and I loved it so much I got a copy myself then was inspired by the documentary so much that I joined the military after high school
Persona 2 Not that it wasn't my thing, there's just so much else on my plate. And I very nearly finished the first game once, but once I had all the ultimate personas only then did I realise I should never have switched anyone's starting persona because SP use rate is persona based, not skill based, and their ultimates only allow for about 5 casts
>>315326183 >Halo >Dark souls >Any first person shooter >Legend of Zelda
All of these games in every iteration are shit to me and i hate them. I fucking can't stand modern shooters.
>Dude you like rpgs so much why don't you like Zelda? Because i don't like to be stuck playing one role "the good guy" and Zelda is basicaly just a puzzle game with combat included. I would play fucking vanilla Skyrim over any Zelda game..
>Dark souls is so fun man, I'm so good at it look at me! I don't want to roleplay as a piece of fucking bacon, while slashing as every things legs. You play through a game with nonsense story and then search all your items to read a book of descriptions to explain everything. >It's probably to hard for you, you're a casual gamer.
>>315327589 Vats had a use. you could make a full Vats character. The stats, skills, and perks all helped you play a story in the way you wanted.
FO4 just looks like it is all about "I'll shoot you in the face or give you 1 of 4 possible vague answers. Then possibly shoot you in the face" Picking locks, hacking computers, sneaking, stealing from people. All of that seems pointless since you will never be specialized in it. Press fucking X to critical. Fuck that noise.
Also they super streamlined the UI to the point of Skyrim-esq bullshit.
Do you even have a fucking equip load? Can't you even specialize in a weapon type? Is there a melee oriented build you can do? I don't fucking think so since every fucking weapon has a god damn melee attack.
Asscreed 4 is okay (though admittedly, I'm blinded by how much I like piracy and shit. I'll admit I would have never played it otherwise) and I really liked Last of Us. I think people give it too much credit for the story and not really enough for the fun, frantic as hell at times gameplay. Though I wish it focused less on setpieces where you just meander about a forest with ellie pushing her around on palettes and more on stuff like the firefights with clickers or other survivors. I guess that's what multiplayer is for though.
>>315328137 No i beat it in the typical 70 hours (because it's so linear, you can't take any other route or path to the end game)
You're probably another souls fan that can't see the disgusting flaws in this game. The chaos shit hole where they copy pasted a ton of early bosses as generic enemies. super engaging and fun to lure one run back kill it and lure another for an hour, with zero difference in their weapons or attacks.
World of Warcraft and Everquest. I don't care much for MMO's in general, and I particularly dislike that "style" of MMO. The only one I found tolerable was Guild Wars due to the huge variety in character builds, relative lack of grind needed to access content, and PvP focus.
>>315327095 Project Diva surprised me as well. I tried it on a whim despite being somewhat indifferent to the genre and vocaloid music, and ended up really enjoying it.
>>315329003 Tell that friend to come back to you when he has played 1, 2, and 2's DLC. Then tell you whether Infinite was better. If yes. Never take that friends advise on video games ever again. If no. refuse to play BS:I and suggest a better game.
I just think it's a very fun, very solid rhythm game. There really aren't a whole lot out there these days that I've played and enjoyed, and most of the ones I have were based on various peripherals like Rock Band or whatever. Granted, that's only at Extreme. Once you get good at that, it's impossible to go back to even Hard nevermind normal.
I only played asscreed 2 but it was a lot of fun. I'd imagine it would get stale after a while and I could tell even off that one game that they were going to try and tease out the shitty modern storyline as long as they could so having to play the kid working for the evil megacorporation was fucking annoying and so were the collectables but the story was fun.
>>315326183 Eh, I have one friend where this goes both ways between us. He talks about stuff like Dark cloud and KH all the time and I give both tries but never finish them, or finish one game in the series and leave it at that.
>>315330134 Ok, Play Bioshock infinite. Duke nukem forever, Superman 64, DmC: Devil may Cry normal version, DMC2, Neverdead, Every early access game that looks like it is actually a book or made in MS paint.
The most annoying thing is when a friend tries to get you to play an mmo. No, i don't want to get sucked into a shitty timesink with your point and click combat and f2p anime shit fucking jesus christ i don't want to play that shit ivan FUCK
>>315327095 Nep is a strange mix of shit and braindead, the gameplay is shit, the Rebirth remakes only made it playable, but still not good, and the way its presented along with its story is as braindead as you can get However, because its decent character design and the cute girls doing cute things trope, it excels in making you brain dead and not mind all the shit it has, you will be mashing that X button to lvl up as fast as you can to get to the next scene of cute girls doing cute things The most strategy the game has is setting up your mash combo to do the most damage so you can get a mild satisfaction out of the big numbers poping out Its the equivalent of enjoying a fast food meal, hell its even worse, its enjoying a microwave dinner while you watch some cute things on TV, your brain is turned off and you are happy because you dont have to think for that moment This is why these games are "good", they are fun 80h trips into gensoyoko without having to killyourself
>>315326183 CS:GO I've had enough of the game from my days in 1.6 and CZ. It's not the same anymore and I'm done with that series. Please stop telling me to go play it.
The idolmaster I personally hated the series because of Chihaya's design and I thought the game series was one of those magical girl retarded save the universe with friendship type of games. I played one of the shiny fiesta games, it was the version with Makoto, and I was hooked ever since. The singing and the immense amount of amazing porn is what sold me. Holy fuck can these girls sing. Man, this shit is good, I listen to these chicks every day. The gameplay for the games isn't half bad either. They're raising games where you train your girl to become top idol. It's so simple, yet so enjoyable. I'm so glad I heard about this series from you Nash.
>Borderlands I have a few friends that fucking love it, and my cousin even got it for me for my birthday about a month and a half ago (he doesn't really know exactly what kind of games I like, so he just gets me whatever, I usually end up liking what he gets me) and I still haven't played it.
Thank fuck my friends who play vidya aren't spergs, we recommend shit to each other all the time but don't force it down each other's throats. Though it alarmed me a bit when one of them swore to me that Tales from Borderlands was easily his goty. Haven't played it, can anyone here say is it a waste of time or not?
>>315335659 To be fair, i have never seen an rpg/shooter work well. Shooters with stats tacked on that carries a scrub with good gear and limits a decent fps player with bad drops doesn't jive with me. I guess thats true with any real time rpg, but it really feels pronounced in this genre.
>Friend is a huge Final Fantasy IXfag since he played it with his brother as a kid >replays it every year, thinks its the best game ever >spend the last decade trying to introduce him to other JRPGs from other Final Fantasy to Dragon Quest to SMT to Persona to Tales of to Legend of Heroes to Chrono games to Xeno games to Mana games to Legend of Dragoon to Legend of Legaia to Kingdom Hearts to Shadow Hearts to Ys to Grandia >Year after year he shits all over everything I try to show him >2 years ago, "you know man, I don't think I really like JRPGs all that much" >Last year "you know man, I don't think I really like video games all that much" >All he plays now are mobas and the occasional FFIX run
I know its not fair to those who aren't faggots but this is how I view all FFIX fans now and it makes me despise that game and its fanbase.
>>315326183 Mass effect and Dragon age games. He is such a fucking fanboy of those games he sees nothing bad at all in them. Good for him though, he is having fun. I tried them all and dropped them all.
>everyone LITERALLY EVERYONE keeps trying to get me to play league of legends or overwatch. Nigga im a weaboo faggot who plays JRPGs all day every day, why would i enjoy playing a moba or an arena shooter? I didnt even like tf2
>>315326183 For me its sports games, mainly 2k. Plenty of my friends play them but I'm garbage at them, and don't really find them enjoyable. I always tell my friends to play MGS but its not their thing.
>Friend suggests The Walking Dead >I give it an honest try (finished all of season 1), but I just don't enjoy that style of game >Proceeds to keep suggesting similar games to me >Gets legitimately butthurt when I tell him I'm not interested >Proceeds to start trying to have a conversation with me about the games he suggested anyway >I ignore him and he literally just has a one man conversation for an hour
what is actually wrong with people like this
is it a lack of friends? a lack of empathy? a lack of a brain?
>>315342380 Desperation. They really like something and really want to talk to someone about it, especially if it can be an experience held in common.
Your friend probably really enjoyed the game and loved the decision making or whatever there is (I haven't played it) and wanted to be able to talk to you about his decisions and how they compared with yours.
Basically, they don't have enough friends to find anyone who wants to talk to them about something so they'll just hammer it home on whoever they think will be most receptive.
>>315344043 What I was trying to say is, Yes, it can feel grindy if you're just trying to get new and better weapons and armour as fast as possible.
But the main draw of Monster Hunter games is the combat itself, so you won't even notice the grind as long as your main focus while playing isn't >okay, that weapon would be slightly better than my old one and I can make it now that I have this quest, I'll just replay this quest 50 times until I have the parts I need, then I'll redo the other 4 quests I'll need to farm until I can make this weapon. THEN I'll move on to my next Urgent
>>315328318 You're pretty spot on for me except for a few details.
>Equip load, confirmed by some leaks when they pick up too much and there are perks enhancing it. >Sure you can specialize, say "I will only use X!" Boom, specialized if you keep to it. >Melee builds, hitting things with a gun doesn't count as melee for damage buffs, instead is some other weird ass damage just in melee range.
>>315344335 Adults can be pretty juvenile when it comes to their hobbies and interests. People just get excited and often obsessed with these things and it's perfectly understandable, but it makes interacting with people who don't share that enthusiasm difficult.
I know it sounds cheesy but you should just tell your friend how you feel about it; tell them flat out that you're not really interested in the game or discussing it. I know from experience that if you seem even a little bit receptive of it they won't give up until they "get through to you." Hell, I used to do the same thing to people back when I was a teenager, some people just never move past it or simply return to it when they get really into something.
>>315343731 Jesus I can't stand autists that can't differentiate between "interesting" and "pointless drivel no one will ever want to listen to"
Like at the halloween party I went to this guy was following my homie around half the time droning about some tabletop game he plays. Any sensible person would tell others about funny things that happened in the game; instead this guy was talking about how AC worked in his game and what dice you roll.
Like why the fuck do you think anyone would find the mechanics interesting to listen to, they aren't playing it
>>315347574 I love talking about shit like that but only if someone brings it up.
The key is being able to tell when someone doesn't give a fuck about what you're talking about and to then shut up about it. I don't know why so many people struggle with that. I'd like to say it's a lack of social skills but I'm one of the most socially retarded people I know and it's plain as day to me when people don't care about what I'm talking about.
I am a blunt and honest guy so believe me he's aware I don't give a fuck, he just doesn't care. This also has nothing to do with passion, I'm a pretty passionate guy, I'm just capable of reading social cues and not selfish enough to ignore them because I actually value how my friends feel.
I am so done with anything in the MOBA genre but it's all my younger brother and everyone in my college classes plays. I've tried LoL, DotA2 and HotS and I got sick of all of them within a week. It's all so boring
>>315349959 I was you until a few months ago when I finally started playing LoL seriously with a friend so he'd shut up about it. Now it's my guilty pleasure and I play it at least once a week with my friends.
The psychology behind it is pretty interesting really. Most of the time your experience is horrible, but every once in awhile you get super stronk and slap your dick all over the other team's face while your own team cheers you on. So the rest of your time is spent chasing that high point, trying to grow your dick so that it's large enough to crush the enemy team. That's why MOBA players are often evangelical about their game, they want their friends to watch them wave their dick around and be the biggest person in the match.
I've gotta admit that it's pretty satisfying when it all works out, it's like going on some crazy killing spree in an FPS game, except to a greater extent and with a captive audience.
I think it depends on what sort of relationship you have with your friends, I couldn't stand League until I played in a full man stack with plenty of light-hearted banter flying around. It's no fun at all when you play with people who don't emote or get really salty.
You'll get addicted when you make a good play and hear the entire room start yelling "HOLY FUCK, DID YOU JUST DO THAT"
