Dark Souls thread. Demon Souls and Bloodborne also welcome.
i never ran into any problems
either you're just shit or overly critical
I love every other game of the series.
DaS2 feels like going from DMC1 to DMC2. Cheap, clumsy, full of baffling design decisions, missing the point of what made the previous game great.
I honestly think that's the reason there's so much hate toward DSII other than blatant shitposting. People got overly hype for the game.
I personally saw the announcement trailer and just said "why" since the story wrapped itself up pretty nicely by the end of Dark Souls and I just didn't know what to expect after seeing dragons alive.
Depends on what you like the most out of DS2 because it functions fairly differently from the previous two in a few ways.
What are your favorite mechanics or things in the game?
I went from playing DaS1 until I felt there was nothing else for me to achieve (like I did with DeS before it), to playing DaS2.
I wanted to enjoy it. I really did, but it all felt wrong, cheap and clumsy. A bad imitation.
I'm not choosing to feel like the game is shit, I gain nothing from that. It's just what it is.
does anyone have a better image of pic related? either in game or concept art?
>now get back to /v/
Of course it's from /dsg/.
Can we not do this shit? Haven't we had enough of these types of threads?
Post your favorite piece of Souls/BB art/fanart and favorite NPC instead.
Stone Dragon in Ash Lake
just because of how fucking cool of a reveal he has.
>Quit DaS2 cause I just wasn't having fun
>Going through Demon Souls and been stuck on Allan for two weeks
So close to beating it, yet so far
There's some kind of pattern here.
Although i think Sihn and the Medusa were pretty good fights, Sihn was well designed and Medusa had an interesting gimmick/secret to fighting it.
Playing Scholar of the First Sin now for the first time. Man, everyone was right. This game just lacks all the charm of the first one. I'm really bored.
Just Mirror Knight really, and honestly he wasn't even used to his full potential
This. I played Demon Souls, Dark Souls, and Bloodborne. After playing Bloodborne, I tried DS2 and more than the mediocre visuals(I'm not really hating on that, it's a port and I'm sure they did an awesome job), it felt clunky. Everything about it felt rigid. I went back to DS1 to check to see if I was just spoiled by BB, and no, DS1 didn't feel that way. DS2 is just... too damn different for me.
Which is sad because I really wanted to waifu the hell out of the Emerald Herald.
I starter playing it after not playing DkS2 for almost 2 years and yeah, i got really fucking bored by the time i reached the Ruin Sentinels.
I think i only went through with it the first time due to release hype. The game takes too long to get interesting, it gets fun when you beat Lost Sinner and go to Huntsman Copse, gets shitty again when you reach the Windmill, then goes back to being good when you reach the Iron King's Castle, then back to shit when you go to Tseldora, and so forth...
It only becomes consistently good from the Castle onwards, and it ends with a shitty final boss anyways.
Giant Lord was pretty fucking memorable, the one you fight by entering a memory.
So here's the Dark Souls 3 'map'
similar to this one
You can't imagine my satisfaction looking over the High Wall of Lothric in the stress test and being able to see every landmark in the right half of this image, and what looked like the spires of Anor Londo far away in mist
I've never even seen anyone talk about this, so I feel like I'm the only one who spent time looking over the wall in the starting area for 10 minutes
I really feel like DaS3 has high potential of being the best game in the series. Apart from only invading ganks I would be very pushed to find a flaw with the stress test
>not firing up the bass cannon
it's like you don't want to win
So /v/, who is your favorite boss in the series? Mine is definitely Father Gascoigne, everything about him is perfect. He's fucking cool, sets the mood for the whole game, and has an insane twist that makes you shit your pants. He also teaches you to play the game, if you play it like Dark Souls he rips your asshole out. Because he has the same tools as you, you feel like a dope for losing, and then you get him down and do well, and he goes fucking werewolf and decimates you where you stand.
>I've never even seen anyone talk about this, so I feel like I'm the only one who spent time looking over the wall in the starting area for 10 minutes
There's were several entries about it on Reddit with screencaps syncing up with the map.
it's alright and looks kind of nice, i liked it a lot
how about you make a new tenchu thread my man
i went over to a friends house to play BB for the first time since he has a ps4, i played for three hours and beat him on my first try using Das tactics. He's cool thematically, but he's a pretty disappointing fight
>Play Dark Souls 2
>Get ring that stops my soul memory from going up
>Constantly invade people all over the place and ruin their time unfairly
>Leave the trainer off when I invade so they have a chance to beat me, but if they think they're epic and have 4 guys waiting to gank me turn it on and murder the host
>mfw some faggot adds me on steam to cry and I ignore it
>mfw literally no way to stop me and even if I were soft banned I can get around it incredibly easy
I'll tell your mom instead faggot.
>Implying I want to "impress" you.
I just want to upset you, seems it worked.
Is Bloodborne that good? I was just going to wait till DaS 3 came out and get that instead but everyone whos played Bloodborne puts it up alongside DaS or even above it at times. Why? Doesnt seem to be much discussion about the game whereas DaS threads are always full of it.
I personally find it to be the best in the series by far, especially with the expansion coming out.
There's no discussion because if you have the audacity to start a thread about it, it gets shitposted to death by console war faggots, I've never seen such a baselessy shitposted game ever.
to justify buying a $400 console for one game. I played it, it's a good game but the souls games are better
tbf it doesn't have as much build variety or weapons you can fool around with. You can spend dozens of hours just screwing around with new toys in DaS. On the flipside BB is tight as fuck, and NG is pretty much the best out of all the Souls games. All the bosses, areas and enemies are top tier. Replay value is a lot more limited and the chalice dungeons suck for the most aside from the odd boss encounter. It seems like the new expansion will fix the build variety complaint so there's that
so how involved is Big M in Das3? Is it just level design or is he straight up the director like the other games?
should i get hyped? because i really want to get hyped. I'm just scared of being hurt again like Das2
one thing I don't get in DeS
why was Astraea's soul the worst? Wasn't she a saint? She doesn't seem particularly bad when you kill her, she's just lounging around in a pool of aborted babies. Why does the merchant woman in the level hate her? Am I missing something here? Is it a moment where you're supposed to feel bad, to feel that your character has become soul-thirsty demon themselves?
I guess the logic was that since she once had a pure holy soul, accepting the demon's soul made her soul much more corrupt than anything else
I mean, it's fucking magic, what explanation do you want?
Astraea and Garl came to the Valley of Defilement on the behest of the church. Either Astraea found out what the church truly worshiped or decided to act like a beacon of hope for the things that lived there and became a demon, which is why the goblins seem to be worshiping her.
There isn't a lot but the majority of it is quality
>played Dark Souls 2 on release
>loved it, didn't get the immense hate for it
>playing SotFS right now after 100%ing Dark Souls
>its all coming to me
I didn't want to hate this game. But with all of the fucking shitty enemy design and level pacing, I just can't.
Use whatever weapon you want. They're all perfectly viable. If you want to experiment with some of the weapons you get later in the game, a +7 or so weapon will get you through a pretty big chunk of the game, so you can use it while you're looking for other weapons to use.
There's not really any need to upgrade your armor. Put together a set that you like the looks of and that lets you roll how you like and upgrade it when you don't have anymore weapons you want to upgrade.
I spent like 40 minutes getting my assbeat just getting to Cleric. But I oneshotted Cleric
Had to summon for Father Gasoline.
But after that it was pretty easy once I got the hang of the game. One or two shotted most bosses like Amelia, Shadows, etc
Will probably make a new character for the DLC. Maybe level 80 is a good place to start it
The change of pace really fucks with your muscle memory, you'll get used to it.
Threadly reminder that Black Dragon is the best set in the game.
only viable characters are patches, old monk, siegmayer, tarkus, smough, gavlan and benhart
faggots will pick sheva, havel, kirk, artorias, ciaran, lucatiel or pricilla
also why the fuck is there no maldron i would main the fuck out of him
Not him, but it was basically included as an extra stat to buff something that, in DS1, you had at max from the get go.
Granted, i think you can make your character faster by raising it in DS2.
Siegmeyer was the best npc in the entire dark souls series. I fucking loved this guy. Seeing him always brought a smile to my face.
>M's director again
>fucking beautiful aesthetic
who's the composer? if it's Sakuraba then it's gonna be perfect
but how did it ruin the game? sure it's a shitty design choice, but you'd have to be autistic for something like that to ruin the game for you
Do you want to look like wolf armor guts? Try the silver knight armor with black leather leggings. Its the only armor with similar design and a cape. Or maybe darkwraith armor. If you have the dlc then get the armor of artorias. If you need a greatsword then try either:
The Greatlord Greatsword
Greatsword Of Artorias
Man Serpent Greatsword
The Black Knight Greatsword
Its best if you go with the black knight one since it gets the size and power right however the shape is a bit off.
Furthermore, use a crossbow or a great chaos fireball as your left handed weapon to emulate the handcannon. Looks even better with knight gauntlets.
not only is this song fine but he's also responsible for making amazing songs like gaping dragon, sif, pinwheel, quelaag, O&S, and Gwyn. and you think he's capable of making Das3 shit?
I got my ass handed by the very first enemies like a total bitch. Then again with Cleric, atleast five times. After that I started to grasp the mechanics and ditched the old defensive playstyle I used to do back when playing DS.
I actually think it's a good game but a poor souls games.
Why does the artorias boss fight get no love? I think hes really fun.
by making it mandatory for me to put points into adp to make my roll work
by making me take extra seconds out of my life to plan my attunement better so i dont spend too many points in adp on casters
my using up pixels on my screen when looking at character stats
I'll give Miyazaki a blowjob if the original Manikin Mask is in DaS3.
>havent played the game ever since february or something
>start playing again recently for the DLCs
>tfw pic related
Sir Alonne was not just the hardest boss battle for me in the game but also my favorite.
Had to fucking learn again how to dodge so I could beat him.
im the only one who doesnt like the elite knight set
it just bothers the shit out of me that blue cloth replaces a cuirass and somehow gives it better stats
i would love it so much more if the chest looked bigger, like the cloth was covering more than just chainmail
I'm not even joking. I enjoyed BB a lot less than the other games. It was worse in so many ways that I find it amazing that /v/ rides it's dick so hard. Chalice dungeons were probably the worst thing the franchise has ever done, period
thats aside the point, you completely ignored the reason i think its dumb
the elite knight chest piece is essentially chainmail covered in blue cloth and leather, and thats retarded
Did you ever think that maybe it's like that because it's for "elite knights", as in knights that don't get hit and need more agility, which is why the normal knight set has a big chestpiece?
>Chalice dungeons were probably the worst thing the franchise has ever done, period
How does it feel to be a gigantic shit sucking casual baby? I bet you tried to marathon all the chalices instead of slowly progressing through them while you progress through the main game. I bet you cried bitch tears when they asked you to git even gudder and beast Amygdala and Watchdog at half HP in the Defiled Chalice.
>are nowhere near as bad as most of Dark Souls II's changes.
well you're a fucking fanboy then
because taking regular enemies and regular bosses, jacking their HP and their damage and halving the player HP is fucking horrible design and is, by far, the worst thing that the series has done
Chalice dungeons are poor game design by ANY game standards, let alone Souls games. So bad
armor should be more useful
souls games are 100% about your weapon
the black knights, catarina knights, berenike knights, balder knights, and silver knights had the competence to wear metal so i think it's stupid the artist decided it was alright for the elite knight set to not have metal, like all knights with common sense
But they are optional and not in the main game you retard. Unlike Bloodborne, Dark Souls II changed shit that wasn't optional, had awful level design, and little to no memorable bosses.
I beat all the chalice dungeons, that doesn't mean I enjoyed them.
Keep riding that dick you fanboy faggot, chalice dungeons are terrible design and there is no way to defend them
>umm the aliens made their way down into this temple and uhh the people were studying them down here!
>thats why there's rehashed bosses and enemies and they all do more damage and have more HP
Player HP lowered
is literally Skyrim-tier of implemented difficulty. Tell me how it isn't, oh wait you can't because it literally is how Skyrim implements "difficulty"
Dark, Demon's, and Bloodborne are all equal as they each have unique strengths and weaknesses. Whichever one is preferred is entirely opinion based, DaS II is the only one objectively worse than the rest.
Hell no, some cool armor is useless because you can't survive that one-two hit with it
Specially one female armor/plain clothes that look cool
>Unlike Bloodborne, Dark Souls II changed shit that wasn't optional
BB changed tons of shit that wasn't optional you fucking idiot lol
BB changed a gigantic amount of shit that wasn't optional
>had awful level design, and little to no memorable bosses.
And it doesn't matter that chalice dungeons are optional, they are still absolutely fucking atrocious video game design. They were horrible. They were a fucking embarrassment to what is expected of the series.
>more enemy damage
>more enemy HP
>less player HP
SO HARD RIGHT
PREPARE TO DIE xD RIGHT BOYS
It does, but playing Souls games primarily for the multiplayer is stupid. It's excellent multiplayer isn't worth the incredibly lackluster singleplayer
It pains me.
This mask would've been my fucking main. It has GOAT stats for it's weight, if it just looked mint it'd have been complete. Infact, everyone would wear the fucker all the time.
So mad, even still.
>I beat all the chalice dungeons
Sure you did.
>chalice dungeons are terrible design and there is no way to defend them
The design is fine.
>umm the aliens made their way down into this temple and uhh the people were studying them down here!
Jesus. You don't even understand the lore even at all. Not even a little bit.
>More HP, More Damage, Player HP lowered
And it's really fun and challenging this way.
>is literally Skyrim-tier of implemented difficulty
Oh wow. Yeah, you're dumb as a brick.
I completely agree. I always liked elite knight concept art, but I'm extremely bothered that the regular knight armor has a chest plate and the elite knight armor seems to have misplaced it. I use regular knight chest in game with elite knight legs and helm
playing Souls games primarily for the single player experience is stupid
Messages, bloodstains, phantoms, summoning, and invasions all point to the idea that you are supposed to be interacting with other players all the time.
There's tons of chalice only enemies that are unique to the dungeons
Roughly half the best bossfights are Chalice only
>more enemy damage
>more enemy HP
>less player HP
GIT GUD. SCRUB.
Im playing DaS for the first time. How do I get this sweet armor?
BB changed things, Dark Souls II ruined things. BB didn't bloat/split stats and fuck with established lore like DaS II did, and shit level design isn't subjective. Bosses could be, but you cannot tell me that any of DaS II's bosses barring Fume Knight and Alonne are anywhere near the highlights of the other games.
I'm not saying Chalice Dungeons aren't utter shit, I'm saying because they are basically a separate game mode, it's retarded to imply that it's somehow the worst thing to ever happen to the series. You can experience everything worthwhile BB has to offer without touching chalices.
What DaS3 needs:
>Every armor can be upgraded to be on par with all the armor
>By sacrificing the other amor with the desired stats
>Same for weapons of the same type
>Sword/whip like Bloodborne
>Demon's Souls 8/10
>Dark Souls 10/10
>Dark Souls 2 6/10
Protip: during Dark Souls development, "Elite Knight" was actually the Knights set. Knights Set as it is now was Elite.
They literally just thought because the lesser clothed one "looked" more fancy, that it should be swapped around.
A similar thing happened in Dark Souls 2 that never was fixed.
"Greatshield of Glory" and "Tower Shield" in Dark Souls 2 got mixed up. Greatshield of Glory is the one you get off the giant knights at Dragon Aerie, but it's description talks about Syan.
However, the "Tower Shield" which is used by the Syan Knights makes opposite mention of large warriors.
Not to mention, the drakekeepers of dragon aerie literally look like Tower Knight from Demon's Souls.
Further, "Greatshield of Glory" is more fitting a name for the shield with the sun emblazened upon it.
They essentially either fucked up or some dindu at From swapped them intentionally for some unknown reason, and didn't fix their lore and descriptions.
>I'm not saying Chalice Dungeons aren't utter shit, I'm saying because they are basically a separate game mode, it's retarded to imply that it's somehow the worst thing to ever happen to the series.
Bloodborne has the worst PvP as well as the worst replayability of the entire series simply because of chalice dungeons existing you idiot
Replayability and PvP have always been a core part of the design of Souls games
>BB changed things, Dark Souls II ruined things.
BB literally ruined PvP to the point of absolute diehard PvPers giving up on it a few months in lol
BB has, without question, the WORST PvP of the series.
Nah, we need a transmog/glamour system.
All games need a transmog/glamour system.
Lemme customize my shit and min max at the same time, literally no reason not to.
Pvp shouldn't be the focus of the game. You tryhard assholes ruin the game for people who just wanna chill and co-op
The atmosphere is fucking good, the weapons are all unique and usefull
And I'll be honest the difficulty is more fair, not easier but fair. kinda like DaS. Not DaS2 giant knight everywhere that were just sponges that needed online coop without the endgame gear
I don't even do PVP, I don't hate it but I don't enjoy it that much, I just want to wear what I find cool/good looking instead of the obligatory set to actually survive later in the game if I get looked at
Nah, they just drop humanities and a few souls or some boring shit like that. Pretty disappointing.
Instead of sacrificing anything, I'd prefer if you could just choose to get the stats of one piece of armor and the appearance of another without losing anything. Maybe require a rare item to chance the appearance of one piece of armor, or make it so other players see you in the armor that your stats are derived from, so you can't use it to trick people.
My theory with that one, is that you were originally meant to fight Ancient Dragon INSIDE the memory, and you would get the ancient dragon soul from it on death, to then make the Curved Dragon Greatsword with.
The fact that he drops a stupid giant soul is proof of last minute shenanigans, especially when you know that Dragon Aerie was meant to be Drangleic Castle and they ballsed up loadsashit halfway through development.
Tanimura basically had to slapdash and salvage what he could.
They shouldn't have developed for 360 and PS3, and stayed the course with PC and next gen focus. Oh well.
DaS II is less replayable because while it has more options, nothing in it is worth experiencing more than once. There's almost no bosses to look forward to and almost no areas that are fun to go through a second time. Chalice dungeons don't affect replayability at all because again, they are optional.
So now I see why we are having this argument. Every time someone shits on BB and praises DaS II they end up being a fucking moron that plays Souls games for the PvP. It sucks that BB fucked up invasions, but DaS II did too, maybe even worse, and PvP has been and always will be a side novelty. Play a real competitive game
Does DS3 still need to be reusing assets from Demon souls (sounds, animations and other shit). too much rehash and and many things don't end up fleshed out when those games come out.
Why can't they do some unlimited budget works like Ufotable, instead of being so cheap.
The ancient dragon in the shrine dropping a giant soul is supposed to be indication that it was a fake created with a giant soul. That's ok with me, but they should have fixed the text on the ancient dragon soul when they changed whatever it is they originally went for.
Souls games need armor dyes, I can't believe nobody ever mentions this. Can you imagine the fashion souls potential when every armor piece can coordinate together however color scheme you want?
>Loran Cleric Beast.
> Merciless Watcher
Another enemy with a large amount of variations. Saws, Shotguns, Glowing Hot Clubs, Morningstars
>Several varieties of hostile enemy hunters
there's like 4-5 variations of these guys. Crossbows, Greatswords, Maces
>Headless Bloodletting Beast
>Yharnam, Pthumerian Queen.
>Watchdog of the Old Lords
three versions exists
>Keepers of the Old Lords
Not Told [ ]
The people who don't like it are the people who liked more of the online stuff. It lacks covenants and meaningful pvp, but the bosses and atmosphere is top notch.
Plus it is impossible to discuss because of pcfags.
DeS = BB > DaS > DaS2 imo
/vg/ please go pleople are actually discussing the games and asking for advice, not e-penis tryhard builds
I dunno, that was lazy lore imo. They made the dragon, they made the soul they made the weapon, but I guess because they know the dragon is so cheap and bullshit to fight, that maybe they should just give out the soul to make the weapon for free instead.
Idk. It's all fucked. I just wish the game was never called Dark Souls 2 so it didn't have to stain the series, despite it being a good game.
It should've been Cursed Souls, and Dark Souls 3 should be Dark Souls 2.
I killed Artorias after he was driven mad. Gough even thanked me for "freeing" him. No guilt there.
Sif knew the risks of challenging me. I appreciate him trying to save me, and I'm sorry I had to kill him, but it was for the greater good.
Also, I didn't feel bad about killing Sif the first time because I hadn't played the DLC yet, so he was just some random wolf attacking me for no reason.
It is, but even though it's less refined, it's still a much better game than 2 because PvP doesn't fucking matter. These are primarily single player games, and DaS II has the worst single player by far.
because they have souls i and i want that shit senpai
>Loran Cleric Beast.
rehash of boss
rehash of boss
>Keepers of the Old Lords
wow these enemies and bosses sound amazing
Nah I gotcha family
Here's the not-fucked-up version: https://i.imgur.com/IEaKWkp.jpg
>Artorias is too much of a pussy to stay sane
>The chosen undead has to clean up after him and fuck the princess
Im kidding though, I love the guy. I just feel bad when he lets out his final dying breath since that shits so loud. He also reminds me of pic related.
in theory it sounds cool, but in actuality it really wouldn't be, just play an street fighter, tekken or an anime fighter, theyre much more fun than souls pvp
the only fun souls pvp is the griefing kind
Yes, and so is your character in the ending where you take his place. I guess the Moon Presence takes it.
I want to make pic related on bloodborne. Show me what to use /v/.
Ok so, Seath has no scales, and then he made these things with his experiments. So maybe he also created those snake men
I'm honestly pretty disappointed at how Artorias's story was handled. It makes the Chosen Undead seem like a Mary Sue.
>Only the legendary Artorias survived the Abyss!
>Lol j/k he was corrupted by it
>But YOU survived it TWICE and killed Artorias
> return to Cathederal Ward from killing Blood Starved Beast (I walked back because muh emmersion)
> go out other door to get a few more Bloodecho's before I go and level up.
> Kill Church guy easily, rush over to kill the crows
> There are no crows
> ran straight into Fucking scary hooded monster
> vastly underestimated him after heart attack is not-crows
> kills me
> Awakwn in spooky prison full of tough enemies
> The entirety of Old Yharnam's worth of Bloodwcho's gone
> Turn off ps4 and go to bed
Yeah, but the Chosen Undead killed Manus without being corrupted (And without the ring), succeeding where Artorias failed. And Artorias presumably had the ring, so it's not like the Chosen Undead had that as an advantage over him.
The ring only prevents the chosen from dying in the abyss. It doesnt protect you from manus. We dont even know what manus did exactly. It couldve been a trap for artorias that drove him mad or some other shit that manus only did then.
I did exactly this but I managed to ruin something for myself
>ragequit and turned off the PS4 right away after the sackman's punch took away 90% of my HP in one hit
>never got to properly experience the kidnapping, didn't even see the cutscene
>ended up coming back to the game when I had a friend over and getting totally confused about where I am
Took this picture today.
What do you think?
Holding back bias, if it wasn't an exclusive or if you already own a PS4, sure. If you don't own a PS4, not worth it unless you're really seeing a lot over there to justify the console.
I've heard it's a somewhat mediocre Souls game, but if you like the aesthetic and the design it can be worth it. It's probably my favorite aesthetic theme, so of course I'll never have access to it.
The Abyss is such a simple concept, but I love it. The idea of the world falling into nothingness, a pitch black void with no features in it, mysterious monsters coming out of it...it's creepy and minimalistic and great.
Almost certainly bodyguards put in place by Seath.
I used to think they may have been put in place by Izalith (who totally created and employed Demons well before the Bed of Chaos incident, judging by their architecture, Ceaseless Discharge and it's relationship with the Daughters, and the face the the Asylum style Demons willingly guarding places of importance, rather than simply running amok) but they lack the aesthetic.
Sue me. He did his leaping punch and simply fucking MURDERED my poor base vitality first playthrough ass. I'd just spent all my energy and patience beating down BSB. I wasn't ready for it, and decided to hang it up for the day. Still, I'll never not be mad about missing out on the full weight and value of the kidnapping experience. I had to youtube the cutscene and was only lucky that my friend had actually watched footage of the kidnapping online to help give me context.
However, I found Hemwick, Cainhurst, and Pre-Rom Nightmare Frontier totally blind. Finding the Frontier was probably an all time Souls series highlight for me. Especially because I got invaded by somebody almost right away and died to fall damage after he knocked me into the poison pits with his Kirkhammer. I've never shit my pants so hard, so many times in one short time period.
Am I retarded? I wondered like "this is the same arena as with Sif, righ?" but I couldn't lay out the area in my head so I was never sure. Recently I've been feeling like I might be legitimately stupid
Ya fine senpai.
When you kill Artorias, Ciarn makes the place right where he died his grave.
With time it became a place of pilgrimage and the Colosseum around it was probably taken down and built into something else.
I'm pretty sure the blocked gateway across the dragon bridge from new londo's floodgate was most likely the way to oolacile.
Along with, the valley below the dragon bridge is right above the 4King's arena. Which is also the same arena you fight Mannus centuries before.
Pretty sure it does.
But the first bonfire after that griffon shit is geographically exactly where Sif's arena is in the main game... right? Am I forgetting something? You leave and there's the little bridge that goes into the woods?
That's Cleric Beast. Loran Cleric Beasts are a different concept. What else would you call them? They look like Clerics/Priests and are also beasts. I think that name is even taken from the official guide. I didn't even list it as a boss.
I dont think thats their official name. I mean every Loran X monster is exactly the same as the regular version. Like Loran Dark Beast, Loran Silver Beast and Loran Abhorrent Beast. All of them look identical to the non chalice versions so why make this one an exception? I bet his real name is different.
>Greatsword isn't a greatsword
>Scythe isn't a scythe
>Like Loran Dark Beast,
This is a legitimately different monster though. Loran Darkbeast dwarfs cute lil' Paarl. It's easily 40% bigger. It deserves a new name.
>Loran Silver beast
All silver beasts are "loran silver beasts". Brainsucker doesn't get called "Isz Brainsucker" when it's a boss. Same thing here. The bossfight name is the official enemy name.
>Loran Abhorrent Beast.
Isn't the name of a boss. The Abhorrent Beasts fought in Loran are merely called "Abhorrent Beast". No special title.
> why make this one an exception?
It's not an exception. It's called a Loran Cleric Beast because it's a Beast that's a Cleric and it's only found in Loran. It's just a boring and highly accurate name.
>gay as fuck fucking bridge that leads to fucking manus holy shit fuck this bridge FUCK THIS BRIDGE
I honestly do not recall any annoying bridge leading to Manus. Does anyone have a pic of it to jog my memory?
It's the broken up bridge after the first horde of humanity sprites that's after the oolacile caster. Its collision is all fucked up so as you run along it, you can fall off. Not only that, if you don't take the long way to kill the caster before you take the bridge.
He might get a lucky hit on you that sucks for low vitality guys.
Oh, that thing. I think I only ever had problems because of the caster, I don't remember the collision screwing up for me. The Great Hollow and Crystal Cave were terrible in that regard, though.
>not just being SL1 and cheesing people that way
what a literal fucking autist
>That sound the fucking caster makes after he hits you with his bullshit dark magic
As someone who enjoys the Souls/Borne games but doesn't consider himself a hardcore fanatic who has played thousands of hours into the games and the lore, I don't understand the hatred that Dark Souls 2 gets.
Especially the hatred that makes some of its fans, like the OP here, try so pathetically to deny its existence, which is ironic considering that Miyazaki has no problem acknowledging the existence of Dark Souls 2 and is using the director of Dark Souls 2 as a key member of his Dark Souls 3 team (he mentions positively the director's name, Tanimura, all the time in interviews) and is making Dark Souls 2 canon.
Dark Souls 2 ain't Devil May Cry 2. It ain't Ninja Gaiden 3. It ain't Resident Evil 6. I've played many, many ultra-shitty sequels in the past, and Dark Souls 2 ain't one of them. It has its flaws, yes, but none of them put them anywhere near the same ballpark as Ninja Gaiden 3 or Devil May Cry 2 or Resident Evil 6.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. The Souls fanbase is simultaneously the best and the worst fanbase in the world of gaming. For every awesome uploader who makes a beautiful lore video (like that Redgrave dude or whatshisname for Bloodborne's lore), there's a dozen fans like OP who behave like immature little shits.
Why the fuck do people think this? I've dumped 100+ hours into both, I've ran into bad hitboxes and netcode in both.
>b-but muh soul memory
Wear the soul drinking ring
>but muh lighting
Who fucking cares, the lighting isn't that bad
Overall the hitboxes are bad in both games along with the netcode. Dark souls feels a lot clunkier but more "immersive".
