Be honest, why do you hate fallout 4 so much?
It's not even out yet but the majority of /v/ has a massive hateboner for it, remember how MGS V was "the reason for postponing suicide" and was called "the game to end all games" before launch but it just ended up being good
please don't resort to meme spouting and shitposting, list valid and relevant reasons to back up your claim
90% of all posts are from trolls who just want to be noticed. They will buy fallout 4, and enjoy it, just like every other human being would.
>it just ended up being good
Only because nothing could live up to the expectations /v/ set for it. The game is far more than good, it's fucking outstanding, but /v/ overhyped it, and as a result, many were disappointed.
FO4 is lucky in that it doesn't seem to be getting any praise or hype from /v/, so it can't fall victim to overhype.
>They will buy fallout 4, and enjoy it, just like every other human being would.
We all know we're going to go to the midnight launch at Gamstop.
Fallout 4 is going to be GOTY.
I think the main reason why they did this is for the voice acting. I guess it's a trade off for less information for more voice acting. Honestly I don't know what I'll like more, but I did love the fallout dialogue system, especially the comedic ones.
>digital download preload master race
Like hell I'm waiting in line with a bunch of losers.
I'm planning on renting it or borrowing it from someone. I haven't really kept up with it, but with the recent leaks and such, I'm skeptical.
Who knows, maybe I'll enjoy it despite the numerous flaws.
People with a sane mind probably refrain from posting, because the only reply is shit like
>LOOK AT MY REPOSTED WEBM ISNT THIS SHIT AWEFULL
I'm going to get it anyway, /v/ can can choke on it's salt.
Its their own fault for setting such insane expectations for the game.
Ill play it and probably have fun with the game cause im not gonna stare at brick walls screaming my balls off cause the texture isnt perfect.
It is that the games just get dumbed down to all hell. I thought Fallout 3 was easy, but with all these specials with high ass damage modifiers. Like skyrim you could problem break the game within the first few hours
Because Bethesda is taking the easy route of continuing to dumb down their games to appeal to more people, instead of trying to move the industry forward or at the very least not move the rpg genre backwards.
/v/ gets mad because they care about games and can see wasted potential.
I dont. I know it wont be some amazing genre defining game or some utter failure. Its just an enjoyable game for people who like Post Apoc RPGs.
In particular I like the new settlements, customization and perk system. Should be interesting to see what modders do with each.
Worst case all the quests are utter shit becuase of the new dialogue wheel, but that remains to be seen.
It looks so bad, stupid and bugged like every previous Bethpizda game.
I cant wait to steal it, play it, break it, laugh at it,.
I'm literallty anti-hyped for this game.
I can't wait.
If you expect a triple a title to go with a different formula, and or change it up, you don't understand gaming. This game has to appeal to millions, because it costs millions to make it. If you want innovation in the RPG genre, look somewhere else. This is fallout, and you are going to get fallout.
Nobody is actually mad. Niggers are getting all defensive and resorting to shit like 'i'm gonna have FUN while you sit here SALTY' and missing the point entirely.
Fallout 4 is so terrible its funny. You can't help but laugh. The shitstorm when some review copy gets leaked or the game releases will be hilarious too.
The 'genuinely angry at what Fallout has become' bridge burned down in 2008 when Fallout 3 released.
There's a reason why Bethesda is well known in the gaming world. They make good fucking games, my mom a 45 year old women loves Skyrim and Fallout. I also know some hardcore gamers that love both. These games can appeal to almost anyone, fuck I bet even my 70 year old grandma could play and love Fallout.
that dialog system really just kills any hype I'd have for it, its the exact opposite direction things should be going in
though despite my skepticism I'll wait and see if it actually "just works". I'll probably pick it up on a steam sale at some point down the line.
I am really not a fan of the voiced main character. Just cause it leads to the crappy dialogue system it seems to have.
The new way perks are done might be neat though. And even if it looks funny at times i dont mind the graphics.
Oh well. Ill let the mad people be mad.
Honestly, if this weren't branded as "Fallout 4," I most likely wouldn't feel so much disdain toward it.
As it stands though, all I see is a mediocre action game with light RPG elements slapped on wherever they fit.
The real problem, though, is that Fallout 4, like Skyrim before it, will almost certainly perform well critically and commercially, further reinforcing the point that "this is what people want," inevitably leading to further simplification and dumbing-down in the genre.
God you guys are fucking delusional
enough bullshit what are you guys gonna do as far as build goes?
You haven't been paying attention have you, anon?
>why do you hate fallout 4 so much
I do not.
Toddposting is as forced of a meme as Millhouse.
Mass Effect did the same approach to dialogue and more linearized storytelling and at least the first game did it well.
People hate Bethesda because of wonky animations and bugs, not because of the game quality.
The dialogue in FO4 has already been proven to be better written AND better voiced than every single bit of FO3.
The gunplay would be just as servicable in a real TPS, despite it being a Bethesda game.
The hate is a meme itself.
It's a dumbed down, poor effort from Bethesda and doesn't even try to live up to its contemporaries which have surpassed them in almost every single way. It astounds me how this series still gets praise and as many threads on /v/ of all places when anything touched by Bethesda is a resounding "okay" tier game without that much to talk about. Then you add in all the rabid fanboys who actively seek the competition to shit on and add to the shitpost/fanboy wars.
/v/ does not know how to have fun
/v/ hates almost everything except pedo games and chinese cartoons about being a pedo
what do you expect? you come here to laugh at the animals, not listen to them screech
The RPG elements of this RPG have been stripped down to the bone and from what we've seen its closer to Borderlands 2 with SPECIAL being skill trees, rather than a Fallout game.
The voice protag, of course and the fact that he comments on little things (like a successful hack or lockpick) and that the male voice actor sounds flat and emotionless from what we've heard.
The awful animations and lipsync that make Fallout 3 look good by comparison.
The awful world generation and its inability to form shadows more than 30 feet away.
Giving the player power armor within the first few minutes
Mandatory unkillable companions
Giving the character a wife and child and expecting the player to care in a game where they can choose to play as a mutant cannibal or as Jesus
Super Mutants return for no reason because no one can think of a greater threat, so we're gonna get another FEV subplot.
Mexican leaker has already revealed that most of the time the dialogue system does not do what you want it to, 2/4 options are usually "I have to go" in various tones and you can only ask each NPC a single description question.
The colors are all really overstated and the contrast is noticeably turned up to make the game appear next gen, but instead it just gives me a headache.
I mean, I'm a huge Fallout fan.
For the past 10 Years, I've played Fallout 1 and 2 once a year, but still I just can't imagine Fallout 4 being any good.
I don't hate it, I just enjoy participating in the /v/ sport of shitposting.
Because releasing shitty, buggy no effort big name games that receive widespread praise from troglodytes encourages other developers (and up and coming devs) that they don't have to put time, effort or money into something to really rake in the profit.
And that's just sad more so then it is angering.
>taking criticism for a game that's not even out yet seriously
can't wait to play mods with the pc guys :)
Doesn't look that great really, I withheld judgement until all the shit that got leaked, it looks like trash, but mods will fix that, the gameplay was my stick up, it looks like a bland poor man's Metro.
People are just tired of Bethesda phoning it in.
Gunplay looks improved and the game doesn't have a shitty filter anymore so you can actually see colors besides green/brown, but that's all that improved.
Lip sync has someone gotten worse
Dialog wheel and voiced protagonist have distilled dialog into only 4 possible responses. Even Mass Effect had 6.
Animations are still extremely sub par
Skills have been gutted and rolled into perks
The majority of perks are simply incremental damage/resistance buffs and a few of them sound game breaking (reflecting bullets to kill ranged enemies)
This is the same year that gave us MGS5 and Witcher 3 and yet this game looks like something that should have come out in 2012. And that's me being generous.
"You need to eat shit to know it's shit!".
pic very related.
video games are a business. moving forward means making games more accessible to a wider range of people, which means making more money.
/v/ doesn't care for games, otherwise they'd actually fucking buy them, instead of lolmasterracepirategaemslol. fuck off retard.
dang i didnt know the game got released early for /v/
The earlier we finalize our opinions the better!
I personally have seen 2(two) screenshots! It's a shitty game!
>Todd Howard here.
>says this instead of posting the pic
at least fucking try
even your dad is disappointed
I don't hate it, I was never a true fallout fan in the first place, this means little to me.
But I liked the leveling system of new vegas better than skyrim, some perks were unique and interesting, sure you had retarded shit like one perk giving 5 more skills point in survival which was useless, but it was better than the "20%" more armor/damage you see all the time in skyrim.
They got the dialogue wheel from mass effect instead of using the one from human revolution, I am a huge mass effect fan but the dialogue wheel was retarded as fuck.
And sadly you can't create your own robots, the robots in the fallout universe were always more interesting than the 40k power amor bullshit.
Guess I will just wait for the creation kit to come out and for the mods to start rolling.
From what we've seen so far they just reused all enemies from fallout 3, zombies in metros and supermutants in ruins. The FEV and any other lore and plot literally doesn't matter once again, it's just shoot at bad guys the game. I mean fallout 3 was likewise utter shit when it came out. I really don't know why so much of /v/ suddenly likes it.
People were really excited for a sequel to a game series that they love and it's being made by a big, experienced game developer who has the budget to make a great game - they also already have a reputation for making fun sandbox games that lets you sink dozens of hours into it exploring the world.
Then you keep getting met with lackluster teasers - things from the sequels are already looking worse than stuff from the previous games, so once again Bethesda is removing or shrinking content for something that's supposed to be a direct successor and improvement.
I'll still get it, try it and most likely atleast enjoy myself and sink a decent amount of time in it but I don't have my fingers crossed that's it's going to be the HOLY SHIT GAME OF THE CENTURY that it has the potential to be, like Skyrim had but failed to deliver on.
>you come here to laugh at the animals, not listen to them screech
eating shit is objectively, scientifically bad. having an opinion on a game that isn't even out yet, is fucking retarded.
your pic related is very appropriate for your retarded fucking analogy.
Looks like a mild upgrade over their previous games, not worth of the amount of money and development time put in and praise it will receive.
Still gonna buy it from a key reseller because the game drought is real, and Beth games have content. Whether you like the majority of it is another thing
Anyone here who hates it is a neckbeard hipster that has to hate the game before anyone has an educated opinion about it.
It is a rather historic videogame, being one of the largest console games ever released, and will probably be an all time best seller.
>having an opinion on a game that isn't even out yet, is fucking retarded.
Why can't we judge based on videos taken from an existing retail copy that is being judged by someone who is paid for their opinions?
What is retarded about that?
The fact /v/ can only shit on the dialogue wheel shape and the "horrible graphics" tells me its going to be a great game
See you at the midnight release you memesters
Oh shit did I hit a nerve? You're not even bothering to fucking look at this point.
pic (is still) very related, but you fight the good fight with your shilling champ, I'm sure Todd will give you a commendation for your efforts.
I fucking hated skyrim, but I still ended up putting 200 hours in it.
Bethesda game are shit, but their good time sinks because >video games are shit.
I don't hate it, I'll play it for 600 hours or more, even though I'm no graphics whore the game does look like shit when you compare it to any other game from this year, the windows are fucking .JPGs glued to square buildings.
All the things I heard about the dialoge wheel make it seem like it's going to be terrible but I still have some hope.
I just hope that Bethesda doesn't try to do the fucking paid mods thing again by taking advantage of consoles or something to destroy the modding community.
mgs5 was great and had an open world that didn't seem textureless and flat with amazing graphics and animations
fo4 has absolutely none of those things, look at the dog, look how flat everything is
It's just a straight up bad game.
Its not the shape of the wheel, its how heavily minimal the responses are. I want to know what my character is saying. This new system gives you 4 things, 1 is a question and 2 are BAD GUY and GOOD GUY choices and the third is progression/neutral.
It gives way less room to ask about small shit that gives the world some fluff and topics
I hate it because it looks fucking broken and buggy like every Bethesda game ever released. I hate this lazy ass company releasing half assed games with horrible textures and bad animations, with the excuse "mods will fix it".
I will pirate this game, but hell if I support Bethesda again.
>4x bigger than skyrim
how do you expect to pack all the graphics into single game there has to be a trade off - game graphics => game size.
its a 1000hours long game even todd has never finished it.
>Anyone who likes FO4 is le shill todd howard ebin maymay
>Anyone who doesnt like FO4 is le grumpy hipster special snowflake nostalgiafag
This post sums up the thread, you guys can go now
The dialogue wheel and the voiced protagonist ruin the roleplaying for me. I don't know what I'm saying, I don't have much to say, and I'm stuck with one bland voice for almost every interaction in the game. The backstory they force upon you only makes matters worse; you're married and you have a child and lovely suburban home. You're a distinguished vet or a doting housewife. You're either tough or sentimental if Pagliarulo's description of the VAs' performances is anything to go by. You're playing Bethesda's character, and Bethesda can't write a good character to save its life.
The new leveling system is terrible, consisting almost entirely of percentile increases because quantity > quality and designing interesting, balanced perks is hard. There aren't any checks outside of the occasional CHA save. SPECIAL training is now classed as seven different perks.
Animations are hilariously bad, especially so when games like TW3, MGSV, or even HL2/VtMB exist. It's fucking shameful how bad a lot of shit looks, from the UI to the lipsync. The review embargo doesn't come up until 7 hours beforehand, which is almost always a terrible fucking sign.
all the critical hit/AP perks first and ninja
charisma a shit, vats = based. i don't give a fuck.
All I want is for Obsidian to fix everything and lull me into a waking coma where I do nothing but play an actual immersive RPG with a character whose backstory I made up myself because I am a huge nerd who loves shit like Receiver and STALKER because fuck
>Be honest, why do you hate fallout 4 so much?
because it is a game made for fans of fallout 3 specifically.
Bethesda clearly doesn't really understand what the original fallouts were about.
Like the biggest thing that annoys me about Bethesdas interpretation of fallout is that from the players perspective the world of fallout is not about surviving and rebuilding but one of human expansion and growth ala the wild west, or more accurately the American colonization times
Source is over 10 years old at this point and still manages to be a nice looking engine. Look at CoD, those games look pretty decent, and that shit runs on the fucking Quake 3 engine, albeit an extensively modified version. Gamebryo was a kind of shitty looking engine 10 years ago, and there's just not a lot they want to do to try to make it not look like shit in 2015.
It's more that they have no idea what to do with their specific branch of Gamebryo. It's got a lot of problems hardbaked into it that they'll never be able to fix, most of them having to do with optimization, movement, and AI. All of which are kind of crucial for having a polished experience.
It's like Adam Sandler movies, everyone has a fond early career Adam Sandler movie they loved.
Now look at him.
memes everywhere open your salty eyes.
>le fallout meme man
face it the whole game is a meme unto itself.
a giant generic recycled todd factory of steam'ing fresh tasty meatball of meme for you and post apocalyptic all over the place in generic meme land.
It has perks. You obviously meant traits/skills.
Which it also still has, except now its called perks.
Also, quest choices are the most important part of an RPG. And we have yet to see if FO4 is good or bad in that regard.
Because I'm fucking tired of Bethesda not finishing their games. They sell their games in a late alpha to early beta stage at this point.
The reason it's so maddening is because the games are full of potential. Fallout has a really great wealth of lore and the premise is awesome for games, but every fucking time we're fed this Gamebryo shit. And don't tell me it's not the same engine. It has been upgraded slightly, but we've still have the stiff, clunky, awkward body and face animations, subpar textures, and lazy coding.
It might be cheap for them to reuse the same crude engine and primitive coding that they've been clinging to since days of yore, but I think it's due time that they're dev team learn some new tricks, maybe go back to fucking school.
We all want to love each new installment of FO4, but we also want it to live up to its potential as a 21st century game. This is a disservice to the franchise to keep pushing out these half-way hot mess games.
>stiff, clunky, awkward body and face animations
>inb4 new animation system
The animations are still shit regardless how many they have filling out space, because I know this is coming.
Why? Because if you've seen any of the leaked gameplay footage than you'd know it looks like complete shit. I was irked when they shown the dialogue wheel and voiced player character but I thought I'd wait and see if it could at least be salvageable.
After seeing the videos showing how they handled dialogue it looked so bad I wanted to show up in my mouth. They completely ruined fallout. It looks 10x worse than skyrim. Everything in it looks and sounds terrible. The voice acting, gameplay, graphics fucking everything.
I don't understand the family hate part. The previous game has you as someones Son, or as a Courier. Before that you were the son of a tribe leader and a vault dweller before that. They have given you the basis of who the character is, it's up to you to act them out in a way you find defines the character. Sure i was the son of a scientist in a vault but i was also a cannibal. The only difference is i'm not voiced.
This game goes out of its way to define relationships with those people; it was actually a pretty bad problem in Fallout 3 as every conversation with your dad turned you into an angsty teenager regardless of your character. There were next to no strings attach in New Vegas and it was easy to justify any sort of backstory with plenty of options to act accordingly. Here, you have to be a loving father who swears revenge and shit. That's your motivation. It's considerably more open ended in previous titles. This is a much more defined character, now.
>Here, you have to be a loving father who swears revenge and shit
>Literally every other generic revenge dead wife plot in video games
>Even the sole survivor cliche
I'm actually excited about all the changes. After seeing the leaks I realized it probably won't be a good Fallout game but it is definitely going to be a good Mass Effect game. I hope the tone survives the change in setting.
Although after seeing the leaks my biggest worry has shifted to the graphics. I don't usually give a shit but I honestly couldn't tell what was what and that's a bare minimum. Get your shit together, Bethesda.
>how dare he insults my fallout 4! it's not going to be shitty I just know it, I mean, I've already paid for it because i'm a huge retard so it can't be shitty and all normal people will just play the game and enjoy it and anyone who talks shit about fallout 4 is wrong and stupid
this thread and every fallout 4 thread in a nutshell
I agree with you there, the game has explicitly stated the relationship, but as mentioned it's the same for the previous Fallout games (not so much new Vegas).
>You are the vault dweller you need to find the water chip!
Majority of your conversation was centered around the water chip.
>You are a tribes man! You have to fulfill the legacy of the tribe and get the G.E.C.K!
All your conversation is around the GECK
You get my drift there, the only difference here is that you know that your character has a family. That's defined, it's being used as a plot point to drive a narrative, something that is essential to any story based game.
I mean, i understand where you're coming from but i reckon you're blowing it a bit out of the water by saying you want be able to define what kind of character you are just because you have a family.
I am excited for it. The Fallout franchise has always been my favorite series, so I'm excited to see what Bethesda has done with this one. I enjoy Fallout for its story, not necessarily its gameplay. If I have a fun time playing it, I could care less about its inevitable bugs and flaws.
I hate fallout 4 because it's gonna be shit, and it's gonna be shit because bethesda only makes shit games, and despite being shit, it will be hugely popular and be hailed as an icon of what all other RPGs should strive to be.
I fucking hate fallout 4. I hate it so much.
>Hated Fallout 3
>Hate Bethesda in general
>Know I'll most likely hate Fallout 4
And yet, I know I'll still end up buying it, if only because I still want to love Fallout.
I still vividly remember playing Fallout on my dad's computer almost 20 years ago. It also frustrates me to no end seeing the hollow mockery that Bethesda has made of the franchise.
It's a highly anticipated game and most of /v/ just takes an position contrary to public opinion because they think it makes them look intelligent. They're really just another kind of drone who can't think for themselves.
>And yet, I know I'll still end up PLAYING it
I don't know why you would do that. I'm only interested in FO4 because I've liked Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyim, Fallout 3 and NV. I like games of this style. If I hadn't liked any of them at all, I'd consider myself a complete idiot for still buying into the series.
>No Weapon Durability
>No Holstered Weapons
>Subpar Animation Quality
No amount of weapon customization or designated building zones will shake the feeling that this is Fallout 3 with less content.
>Be honest, why do you hate fallout 4 so much?
Not hate, just disappointment because given who is behind it and said people's recent track record, it won't be as good as New Vegas and not even in the same league as 1 and 2, which is sad because it easily could be if it was in the hands of a different studio.
It is 2015 and I don't understand how this ugly and terribly animated game has so ridiculously high hardware requirements.
And I wonder where most of the development budget went. I mean, this is a high budget game, but doesn't look like one at all.
A lot of your reasons are reasonable grievances but this one is pretty weak.
Murder slave traders trying to sell children and you get positive karma. Steal from those same peoples locked footlocker and you get negative karma.
Morality systems in games are almost always a colossal failure because someone has to make binary decisions on morally complicated subjects in order to program it.
I'm no fan of the system, my point is more that Besthesda seems to be cutting anything that mighty remotely cause problems, sacrificing the complexity and depth they might add to the game.
I'll concede Karma may be beyond fixing though.
Daggerfall and Morrowind were legitimately good games.
Arena and Oblivion less so, but I still enjoyed them.
Oblivion is actually something of a guilty pleasure of mine. It's just too comfy.
Fallout 3 and Skyrim were absolute garbage though.
Oh I've been concerned with the slippery slope of action games with rpg elements slowly destroying rpg games with action for a while so you're not alone in noticing.
Karma, paragon/renegade, or light/dark side stuff in all those games have for as long as I've been aware of moral ambiguity always bothered me. Like shooting a dude to put him out of his misery is bad but leaving a nigga to die in the desert is fine if you give him a bottle of water. For real?
I feel like it will be partly fixed(like most things) with mods, someone can quick save and load again and again and wrote then mod in all the full lines into the wheel and probably even mod that into the boxes like before.
because it's made by bethesda which means it's going to be a pile of shit on launch and we're going to have to rely on mods to make it decent
and all the leaks have continuously confirmed this
I can't wait until launch and we get to see all the neat bugs with the build-a-village feature which I can only assume will be extremely limited or extremely broken, but probably both
>Oblivion is actually something of a guilty pleasure of mine. It's just too comfy.
Same here. There can be something wonderful about hammy fantasy, with nothing subversive, delivered with a small smile.
