>play Final Fantasy X
YES, IT LIVES!
What fun fun fun PS2 games are there, Sonybros? I already kno Ratchet and Jak have issues which is lame but I can just use my PS2 for that.
Why is PCSX2 so shit. I have been waiting and waiting and waiting for that shit to make some breakthroughs like Dolphin does in a fucking month and nothing. Most games still have weird flickering polygons and visual artifacts, still getting sound stuck glitches in Katamari etc. The rendering scaling is shit.
PS2 is just shit period. End of. Where my Xbox Huge emulator at.
>PS2 is just shit period. End of. Where my Xbox Huge emulator at.
Nobody gives a fuck about Xbox except Halo kiddies, and they're too busy playing their HD Remastered Captain King collection.
>except Halo kiddies
Nigga you what?
Lack of money and lack of a x-box. I guess I will eventually buy one if a emulator doesn't come out or another version of the game that I can play, but I have other priorities now... I don't know when it will be adequate for me to play it, but I guess surely the day will come, I'm just not sure when. An emulator would help, but I don't think it will happen.
if you're into RPGs you can't miss this god like gem
I'll recommend some good but less popular recs (instead of hurr hurr Resident Evil/Silent Hill/Final Fantasy)
Shadow of Destiny
ace combat series
shadow of the colossus
>Does it get better?
It was never bad to begin with. Maybe it wasn't your thing
Just started playing SO3 again yesterday after not having played it for nearly ten years. I had forgotten how bad the voice acting was and how cringe the dialogue was as well. Combat's cool though.
This man is my nigga. Although I've had problems with Odin Sphere on PS2, PS3, and emulated. I'm going to wait for the remaster on PS4 before I try and complete that game again.
PS2 emulation isn't that great, if a version is coming out on Steam then I assume it's automatically going to be better
Yup. I run PCSX2 with actually that exact set up. GTX960, i5, and 8g of ram.
60FPS on pretty much every PS2 game. I haven't tried Virtua Fighter yet (that's the ballbreaker apparently), but I don't really give a fuck about that game.
Was playing the Hokuto no Ken fighting game earlier.
>Raw Danger bros
The fuck is going on in this thread? But yeah, I heavily recommend Sakurazaka Shouboutai if you haven't played it. It's a third person FIREFIGHTING game. Fucking bad ass.
>shadows still not fixed for this game
Life is suffering. Also reminds me I haven't made a Rumble Roses thread in a very long time, last time I made one .webm didn't exist on 4chan yet.
I highly recomend Ape Escape 3.
Played it recently and holy shit is it fun!
Actually, play the whole series if you havent already. Its really worth it.
If you want a jrpg, try Radiata Stories and Steambot Chronicles.
Pretty obscure games but really fun.
Nocturne is fussy as fuck.
I used this just for Nocturne. Literally one of the only games to give me trouble. I took SPU2-X 1.1.0 for the sound plug-in because I wasn't having any problems with FPS (but I had a low internal resolution because the game is already pretty cel-shadey and detail lacking)
Linuz Iso CDVD 0.9.0 is also the most important step from the guide as far as I'm concerned.
I haven't played too many games yet, but I haven't even had any trouble with my old 7870 with i5. Same with dolphin. Newer cards should be overkill for any emulator unless I am missing something.
My nigga. the only game worth playing on PS2
What kind of games you like, senpai? List me off like your top three to five favorite games from any systems and I can make some dank recommendations. I've played almost everything in the PS2 library due to years of being a Sonygger and years of emulation after that.
>emulating the worst version of RE4
There are a ton of good PS2 games, don't waste your time with capcom ports on the PS2 when they're superior versions are already on a better emulator.
Or as that guy said PC.
Eugh this post sounds really elitist I'm sorry
Nocturne is notoriously rough for whatever reason. I would get 60 fps everywhere but battles. Then as soon as demifiend punched the entire game slowed down and the sound would be fucked for the rest of the battle.
Somehow beat the game like that though, still enjoyed it thoroughly.
I really like Tales of games but I've already played Abyss and the rest of the good ones are in Japanese.
I also like RPGs & platformers.
Though I'm usually a fan of every genre.
Digital Devil Saga 1+2
Ace Combat 4, 5, 0
Shadow of the Colossus
Dragon Quest 8
Dark Cloud 1+2(Chronicle if yurop)
I'm sounding like a broken record since most of those have already been posted.
Nah. From best to worst :
HD PC > Wii > PS2 > Gamecube > SD PC
PS2 beats Gamecube just for content (no Separate Ways in GC), and SD PC is literally unplayable shit that crashes constantly and has no controller support.
Gamecube version is better than PS2, both in performance and visuals. Subpar content doesn't make up for poor FPS and terrible looking visuals in most of the game imo
Forgot about the ubisoft pc version though, that was horrible.
Nigger. Although I agree that the PS2 version is one of the least desirable ones, before the "HD" port on PC then I would've just recommended emulating the Wii version on Dolphin or playing the one on PS3/XBL
Front Mission 5: Scars of the War. One of the only PS2 games to get a full proper translation patch. Literally owe it to yourself to play this with an emulator because we never got it in NA.
I didn't really like separate ways if that's not obvious. Hardly bothered with it outside of one play-through, especially when mercenaries is where it's at.
There's also the matter of Dolphin being a much better emulator than PCSX2
I honestly didn't notice any issue with the visuals or FPS aside from the pre-rendered cutscenes. PS2 doesn't get costume-changes in cutscenes where GC did.
I'll look into Dolphin though.
Nobody can reverse-engineer the graphics on it, iirc. I've heard promising things about cxbx though, which was attempting to run Xbox code on Windows. They've got a decent number of games running (but not Metal Wolf Chaos which is the only reason I still own a phat. It's one of maybe 10 games that don't have 360 compatibility)
Well the visuals just look worse than the GC version. That's just how it is. On the actual ps2 it had frame drops when I played it in several areas. Typically around water for some reason.
I don't blame them though, they had to port the game in like 6 months with the team at that point having little experience with the PS2
Maybe I'm a potato, but the difference between those screenshots is almost impossible for me to notice. Probably because I grew up with a fucking Gameboy for years. My HD tastes are lacking.
hey if it works for you that's great. I didn't mean to drag any kind of console warring into this. It's just that the PS2 has a ton of worthwhile games, I wouldn't bother with an experience that's better somewhere else, especially for a game as good as RE4.
Pic related was a fucking gem.
I replayed this game yesterday and already can't stand it, nostalgia is one hell of drug.
>Small ass corridor
>That repeating voice chat
>I forgot what the weapon customization in this game, when I get the toad suddenly I got PTSD.
>Gun so OP they limit how many time you can use them.
Dark Cloud 2 however, ages like wine.
