>watching fallout 4 live stream this morning before work
>wow this looks so fun and interesting (getting the comfy feeling of when i used to play fallout 3 just by watching this dude do random shit)
>loved fallout 3 and this looks like that but much better
>come to /v/ to get some hype
>everyone hating on the game for having bad graphics (wtf its fallout this isnt fucking crysis)
>everyone hating on minute details that are in any open world game, let alone one with this much choice and scavanging
>everyone saying its dummed down
>everyone saying its for normies
>everyone hating games in general and being cunts about everything
Why are you all such sad fucks ?
Game looks fucking great fun and i get the feeling that even the people beating this down to fuck will still play it to death, so why all the hate ?
Don't worry, OP. As someone who beat Fallout 1 and 2 and recently did a Kenshiro run of New Vegas, I am moderately hyped for Fallout 4. It looks alright.
I just don't post in Fallout 4 threads because why would I.
>fresh new player
Sorry brah, 25 years old and playing games since i was 5, stay mad
>thinking this will be shit
Another "i'm cool /v/ look let me join in on the hate" sheep
Does anyone here actually play games and enjoy them ?
THAT'S US, AND WE RULE. RULE. R-R-R-R-R
you new here, op?
this place thrives on hate and conflict. people here revel in that shit. they will latch on to any tiny imperfection in any game and tear it to pieces if they think it'll piss off someone else. they're not really complaining about the game, they're just doing it because they know it makes you mad.
some light reading on the subject:
welcome to 4chan, amigo. enjoy your stay.
People are hating on F4's graphics/animations because it makes no sense that they should be so bad when Skyrim made like a billion dollars in profit. Indie games tend to have more simple/abstract graphics because we know they have very limited resources.
This is a company which actually has BILLIONS of dollars in available resources, yet still makes low-budget shit and passes it off as "AAA".
Zionmax is literally the most Jewish company around, Fallout ought to looking FUCKING AMAZING but yet it's a cheap cash grab.
All of /v/ will be cumming over it the day it gets released
Same thing as with Skyrim. That skyrimjob faggot was posting for months how shit skyrim will be, then it came out and everyone loved it to pieces
>people being surprised that a company which is notorious for shit models and animations produces a game with shit models and animations
no amount of money could've made this better.
if they have a shit team of artists and no desire to hire new ones, it could have a budget bigger than the u.s. national debt and it would still look like shit.
>Game looks fucking great fun and i get the feeling that even the people beating this down to fuck will still play it to death, so why all the hate ?
Because we liked Fallout 1 and 2 you pathetic fucking pleb/shill/retard (circle correct answer).
Naa, i am here from the very start and this is just lazy trolling. Most of the shitposters don't give a shit about the game while others may even like and buy it. Also, the best troll is often one that knew well what is trolling.
>All of /v/ will be cumming over it the day it gets released
The amount of casuals and retarded opinions on this board had increased tenfold lately.
>everyone saying it's dumbed down
>everyone saying it's for normies
Firstly this is really one and the same. It's dumbed down for normies so the game can sell more.
Do you not see? Do you not care?
In either case, die in a fucking fire.
/v/ hates the majority of things. Personally I'll be buying it but I just hope you can turn off those damn kill sound effects. As long as the the world is more enjoyable to explore than NV I'll be happy.
>buying a bethesda fallout game day 1
I'll pick it up when its ten bucks and has all the DLC attached. Maybe. Its only a couple of weeks before Bloodborne DLC so I'll be playing the fuck out of that anyway.
FO4 will probably be enjoyable on some levels (laughing at Bethesda's writing comes to mind) but it will not be, in any way, a good game.
Where's the problem? Will you stop crying about people who played more games having better opinions and standards than you?
Not really, 2013-15 has actually been a great period for RPG's on PC, especially indie stuff. Of course you wouldn't know it because /v/ only discusses AAA shit (that said though I have seen some Age of Decadence threads).
What defines a good game anon?
To me, a good game entertains the majority of it's intended audience. Which Fallout 4 definitely will.
It seems that a minority will either genuinely not enjoy it, or will force themselves not to enjoy it because they feel they shouldn't.
Literally kill yourself, right now.
There are valid bad points of the game, but to say "it will be shit" when you havent played it is as bad as the "GOTY" people that you all hate.
BUNCH OF FUCKING IDIOTS ON THIS BOARD
>a good game entertains the majority of it's intended audience
The intended audience is the lowest common denominator.
By that logic Call of Duty or generic fanservice-y based weebshit games are the definition of the greatest games ever because they entertain their demographic regardless of the quality of content in the game itself.
If you wanna eat shit that's your call. Just don't go around calling it something that it isn't.
>What defines a good game anon?
Good writing, gameplay, graphics, sound design. Like, Fallout 1 and 2.
>thinking some people don't have more informed or better opinions
You've been brought up in the world where everyone is supposed to be equal, and you actually bought into it. That's pretty fucking sad.
Oh yeah, expecting a game to respect my intelligence and have some care put into it are now standards that cannot ever be met. Great. I sincerely hope you guys are trolls, you seem to think of me as some insane madman when I'm just a person who had the pleasure of growing up during a time where games were good, not just watered down products propped up by a self-perpetuating machine of hype, paid of journalists and marketing.
>hating on the game
It's great when teenagers make themselves easy to identify.
>People that have played more games than you
Literally fuck off idiot, you have no knowledge of what anyone else has played, tell me how many i've played, give me a number you fucking peice of shit
- Graphics that don't look like a 360 game from 2007.
- Writing that reads like it was written by a professional writer and not a 17 year old fictionpress user.
- Quests that offer multiple choices and consequences and branching paths depending on choices (like New Vegas).
- A character customization system which actually has proper skills and isn't just linear % based increases.
Yeah, such high standards.
Of course I don't, but shilling Fallout 4 and expecting it to be on the level of an actually well written game is pretty fucking naive and telling, you realize that, right?
>B-BUT THE GAME ISN'T EVEN OUT YET
Case in point, naivete and lack of experience. Exactly why people laugh at you and call you a casual, expecting Bethesda to deliver.
Did i ever compare it to any other games i've played ?
Do you pay attention ?
Are you master of gaming and think the sun shines out of your arse
Oh sorry master of gaming
Why do people feel it necessary to defend a game they haven't even played yet?
Surely if these complaints and criticisms meant so little to you, you wouldn't feel the need to defend them in public, right?
Not the greatest games ever, but well made. Even Ghosts, the worst game in the series, was well made enough that it wasn't bad, it was just stale, hence it being the worst in the series.
Bethesda writing ranges from bad to alright, with occasional gems, gameplay is roughly on par with most RPG's, because for some reason RPG's tend to have mediocre gameplay throughout all genres, sound design is actually pretty solid, especially so in Skyrim.
Bethesda's strength lies in making a big world to explore, filling it full of things to do, and letting you loose. They're not the most graphically impressive, but have good art direction, they generally play stiffly, but they play well enough that you can find enjoyment in it.
I think the word opinion is a crutch used by people with no reason nor defense, an opinion is what you think and feel, not what you believe to be fact. And it's impossible to take anyone seriously on /v/ because people use hyperbole as a bloody rule.
Not even the guy you're replying to but holy fuck please go back to whatever shithole site you came from, newfag.
You're on an anonymous imageboard talking to an anonymous poster while remaining anonymous yourself. There is literally zero reason to "defend your honour" or whatever the fuck you're trying to do.
Do you people realize how crazy you are?
Do you realize just how far you've gone from other people?
>Bethesda writing ranges from bad to alright, with occasional gems
Bad to seriously mediocre, as every game from Oblivion to Skyrim has demonstrated. Adding that particular dialogue system and what we've seen from the leaks is pretty telling of what level of writing to expect from 4.
>gameplay is roughly on par with most RPG's
Which RPGs? Made after 2010 I hope.
Don't make me laugh. Skyrim was dumbed down compared to stuff like Morrowind (which isn't so bad considering how bad Morrowind's systems were, but still) and Fallout 3 turned into a mediocre shooter running on an even worse engine. They didn't have the balls to go with a true turn-based system because casuals and console players wouldn't like it.
FO3 was boring, New Vegas got away with it because they had some good loot systems and mod support. FO4 banks on the "crafting" mechanic that's shoehorned into everything nowadays, so expect loot to be even more generic this time around.
>making a big world to explore, filling it full of things to do, and letting you loose
Nowhere near on the level of earlier Fallouts or New Vegas, since people forget that good writing usually reinforces exploring an open world. What should I get hyped for in FO4, a quest where you throw irradiated tea cases into the water? Because that's what FO3 has trained me to expect.
You're trying to be neutral here but there's no real reason to think that FO4 will be anything above mediocre, this is based on facts.
Everyone bitching is going to play the game and enjoy it.
>looks so fun and interesting
you can't even defend the game and have to parade your snowflake porcelain feelings instead. Fuck off retard, this is a game board, not a pity fishing blog.
Why are you all so mad about a game that will obviously be great, are you all that bitter ?
Going to be funny as fuck watching you all cry over the 10/10 GOTY reviews, bethesda will be making rakes of cash, as will the reviewers and then they'll continue to make more games that everyone will love (even you faggots pretending not to)
Such is life
>come to /v/ to get some hype
Why would you ever think that'd work?
remember to sage if you reply
op is too retarded to use counter-arguments in his posts and just repeats the same shit over and over, so don't bump his thread
I'm saying this in every thread this comes up
It's not that we hate the game in general but we have the fact that there is NO PROGRESS MADE.
Technology needs to go forward, ideas need to evolve. That's why CoD gets so much hate and with Fallout 4 it's obvious they didn't even want and try to push the boundaries because FO3 sold so well.
They just want money, not to make a better game than the last.
I want a better game, not to give them my money for something that I feel like I've already played
They added housing that has been in bethesda games since morrowind?
They upgraded the graphics a little like they always do and still manage to make it look WAY worse then for example Witcher 3?
They made a crafting system that has been in Skyrim AND new vegas?
What progress exactly did they make?
>loved fallout 3
i was actually a doctor for a few years before I became a high school biology teacher and one of the questions im always asked at least once by every class is what was the worst condition ive ever had to treat, you know how kids are, theyre curious though theyre also very mature
or at least they act like it but you know theyre really still innocent and that you really do have to be careful what you say to them
and so normally i would spin a yarn about some cartoonish farting disease or something cheesy like that, but not this last time
i dont know what i was thinking, it was a new class and it must have been that one of the kids and i shit you not one if the kids had a full beard at 16 and i guess i just forgot the company i was in when the kid with the beard asked the question, he said
>mr anon what was the worst illness youve ever had to treat
and without thinking i responded with
>abject faggotry brought on by excessive sucking of bethesdas flaccid microcock
now these children had heard of abject faggotry, growing up in the rough part of town it was impossible not to, one of the students, a girl with a shock of red hair and an undercut said
>isnt that untreatable
to which i replied yes, that it was for a long time but that i had found the cure through nights of caffeine fueled erratic research i found that the only cure for abject faggotry was the ingestion of an entire bottle of bleach, though it cost me my job my unconventional methods saved the patients life
i returned to class the next day to find i had been fired, i plan to kill myself after this post but op if it means i can save at least one more life then i implore, no
i beg of you to drink bleach op, its the only way
drink bleach op, please
>Bad to seriously mediocre
I have always felt that /v/ really overblow the bad quality of Bethesda's writing, the majority of it isn't bad, it's just simple and generic.
The writing in Oblivion to Skyrim never bothered me because, really, apart from several quests that had some interesting narrative hooks, I would do the quests for something to do, and their rewards.
>Which RPGs? Made after 2010 I hope.
This is where I'll probably cop the most flak, I don't care about in depth RPG stat systems. If I want in depth, I'll go for a slow, isometric RPG like Pillars of Eternity, or the original Fallouts even. Bethesda doesn't make pure RPG's anymore, they make action adventure RPG's, everything serves the actual action adventure aspect of their games, including the RPG elements.
Complex is not better, simple is not worse, the term "dumbed down" is just idiots being butthurt over not having to make spreadsheets to make a character anymore.
Fallout 3 didn't bore me, and New Vegas adding great writing to the mix only made it better, Fallout 4 I accept will not provide that, but the overall gameplay improvements more than make up for it personally.
>Nowhere near on the level of earlier Fallouts or New Vegas
I disagree, New Vegas had better writing, but an overall worse world to explore. My favourite thing to do in a Bethesda game is to put a marker in an empty spot of the map and hike there with no fast travel, this provided the bulk of my Fallout 3 and Skyrim playtimes, but New Vegas kept railroading me away from some places and into others. Explorations felt far less natural, and more punishing, because New Vegas put all it's eggs into the questing basket. And it worked out well.
When I think of Fallout 4, I don't think of the writing, the only writing I am interested in is what they do with the main quest, because of the subject matter. I think of doing a circuit around the map, enjoying things as they come.
You're a dip, whatever I'll mention you'll say.
>hmmmph! Not good enough! Bethesda make moneys!
I'll go into one thing, because
The "housing" is now a settlement you can costumly build
>but Skyrim houses
With a lot of moving and mechanical aspects to it there's probably more too...
Also in Skyrim you couldn't adjust your weapons, so it's not like in that game.
The main issue here that people like you can't even look at gameplay without making a literally retard simplification of it all.
The second backlying issue what people like you cannot even comprehend is the fact that people have different values for different aspects of the game, people can place high to low emphasis on the aspects of a game. Each person has its own set of preferences and that's why some people can overlook certain aspects of games and still enjoy them.
>witcher fags everywhere
dem bethdrone delusions
I plan on pirating the game.
It looks like NV with mods. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing given how good the modding scene was for that game.
>it's just simple and generic
Which is why I said "mediocre". To someone who played games like Baldur's Gate or Planescape Torment, this sort of stuff is a waste of time. And more often then not it takes away from the immersion, because instead of feeling like you're interacting with a living, breathing world, you interact with a badly written cartoon.
>I would do the quests for something to do, and their rewards.
God forbid actually feeling immersed or interested in what you're doing. Explore that generic piece of gray land, get your generic money/weapon part compensation, move on to the next thing. Worth spending sixty bucks on.
>Bethesda doesn't make pure RPG's anymore
They never did.
>Complex is not better, simple is not worse, the term "dumbed down" is just idiots being butthurt over not having to make spreadsheets to make a character anymore.
Your entire argument here is that certain people are butthurt because the game doesn't have numbers displayed on screen (as if that's what constitutes a "complex" game, like every old RPG was basically EVE Online and required months of playing to understand), and that Bethesda's wonderful alternative of limiting perks, different SPECIAL builds, and so on is just as effective as the gameplay in, say, FO1.
FO4 fucking dumbed down, dude. It lacks different options you could do previously. All while using an established franchise name to garner in those buxxxx$$$$$$ while respecting NOTHING about older games. It's disgusting.
>but the overall gameplay improvements more than make up for it personally
What improvements? Everything we've seen points to this game playing worse or equal to vanilla FO3, and that game is pretty bad. And do note that people look at FO3 and NV through rose-tinted glasses because a year after release the community fixes and improves what Bethesda should've done in the first place.
Not op but shit man, I don't plan on living past 35 because reasons but I'm pretty sure there aren't anyone on this board that more mentally ill than me
Get a grip you raging homo, you ain't no she senpai
Of course v shits on Fallout 4. It's shits on everything and praises everything. If you want to play new Fallout game then buy it and play it, don't let this board dictate what you like and don't like
I agree with you OP but was banned for disagreeing with an anon who followed a certain console which may have a plumber as its mascot and was calling out fallout 4 for having bad graphics etc.
Unfortunately the hive has gone into a mildly retarded stupor and hating on vidya, especially anything popular won't be going away anytime soon
Why is the baby in the opening always black even if you make a white character?
I'm right there with you OP, I've played every mainline Fallout game in order and had a blast.
Looking back, FO3 was kind of bland, but I think it's because Bethesda didn't really know where to take it.
FO4 has a very specific theme and style to it and I think it's going to be a special game.
Graphics and dialogue wheel be damned, if they want to make the story more linear then they just need to tell a good story, and from what I know, they're going to do just that.
>gay ass invincible dogmeat
>shit companion ai
>holy christ that sound design
>seriously wtf is up with sound
>you're probably an android
I wish I could say I was just being contrarian and that I'm actually excited but I'm not. I learned to trust my gut if a game starts popping this many red flags before release. If mods can make it into a decent game I might buy it during a steam sale if the the GOTY price gets slashed brutally enough. Until then, fuck you Todd. Fuck you.
to be fair the setting looks pretty comfy.
Especially with the fire ressistant doggo.
Gonna wait for the mods tho, everyone knows todds lies can become truth with a little bit of mods.
What? Can't you understand the technological limitations of doing everything in first person 3D and how it is different from 2D gameplay?
Anyway, who are you to say this is a piece of shit? It's a piece of shit for you. They don't have an obligation to make the franchise the way *you* like it.
Also, a Fallout 1,2 tier game could be made by 5 men today. 1 programmer, 1-2 artists, 2-3 writers. (1+1+3 or 1+2+2). Even the shittiest 2D engine can make it. Yet, not many of those games are made, because no one cares for them that much anymore. Except for some strategy games. If you want your so cool games this much why don't you and your other one thousand /v/ faggot bros go and make one?
Whatever...man. Do you have an argument or just trying to cherry pick some small shit I fucked up? Oh, wait. Your problem is those 4 words I put there.
Anyway, I know you're only pretending, but think about the kind of person who would argue over such little detail.
>wtf its fallout not crysis
Crysis came out in 2007 and runs on a toaster while managing to look better in every way to this. No its not Crysis you're right but in an 8 year gap between the two you would think they would be able to push out something better looking than this and before you say "muh artstyle" I do like the direction they went but muddy textures and shitty animations should never be a compromise.
Don't get me wrong anon, I'm no grafix fag but by my standards its not acceptable. That being said, if it just more of the same shit like 3/NV I'm sure to sink over 300 hours into just like the previous games.
We as an industry let this happen by supporting ugly-ass games like Minecraft, Terraria, Telltale's TWD and other shit of the like.
A large majority of games on Steam are just pixel roguelike crafting hubbalo-boo.
"I'll show you a REAL atom cat, stranger"

because reddit invaded and never left and half the board now is either hipsters or bandwagon faggots

>STOP DISLIKING THINGS I LIKE
What the fuck is with all this shit surrounding FO4? News flash, /v/ is highly critical of big AAA releases, which is fine. Where the fuck do the people complaining about complaining even come from? Is it your first fucking day here?
It's like some of you fucks are racing to suck corporate dick and then calling me a pathetic neckbeard for not rushing to slobber on that shit alongside you. FO4 doesn't look abysmal but it's absolutely Fallout 3-2 and it absolutely has all the same problems as all of Bethesda's games. I'm not just going to say "well that's okay 'cause it's Bethesda!!"
>The Graphics are shit
>WTF Bethesda games aren't about the graphics!

Reminder that they not only removed reputation yet again, but they've even gone so far as to remove karma.
Also all dialog "skill" checks are based off of one perk, which is "persuasion", and uses a three tier luck-based system.
You're right, but I think its more due to the fact that people are somewhat held hostage by their own enjoyment of games and just buy the next entry in fear of being left out or missing out and I think developers have realised this.
They just keep pumping out game after game with no quality control whatsoever while making people who don't buy it look like faggots
>why aren't you playing anon? Its new and shiny
>why arent you playing anon? All your friends are
Maybe I'm just insane and I need to sleep.
Bethesda's writing skills would have made Karma force you into their shitty preconceived notions of right and wrong, putting an emotional strain on very basic choices like stealing.
Karma worked in Interplay's Fallout, but not todays Fallout.
If you don't agree with someone, call them reddit, that'll teach them. How can anyone have different tastes than me, how can they enjoy F4 while I enjoyed redditborne and Splatoon.
are u le autism maymay?
>listening to /v/
Dude if this looks like a game you will enjoy, then buy it and have fun. This board is pretty much the last place you come to actually discuss video games. Now if you just want to troll, then this is the board you come to.
>Because we liked Fallout 1 and 2
Go back to replaying them if you liked it so much, leave the others to enjoy their games. What's stopping you. Fucking fatass fedora tipping muppet
I bet you think Depression Quest is a good game with that logic.
