Just started Pokemon White
only eight hours banked on it so far.
Never really been too much of a pokemon finatic
Have you guys started a new pokemon
What Starter did you pick?
Plans for you team?
Pokemon thread go.
Pic related, this is my team so far.
Named them after some friends irl.
I haven't played a Pokemon game since Emerood. The new games are weird and scary.
>breed an almost perfect if gibble in heartgod
>grab a level 1 giratina too
>port them to my brothers black version
>fully ev'd through feathers
>port to my started white version
>replace the starter with what I choose, gibble and giratina
>have a blast playing it the way I want to play the game
Pokemon isn't had but I've always wanted to "choose" my starter pokemon so I did just that
I had a blast
I started playing Star Sapphire now that romhacks are playable without a Gateway.
The difficulty was great until I got to Roxanne. Any sense of balance was thrown out the window.
>leads with shuckle, alright whatever
>stealth rock and sticky web, hey that's neat
>Amaura with Refrigerate and Round, makes Grass Types useless
>Lileep with Storm Drain, makes water types useless
>only fighting type is Makuhita, but via NPC trade, so it won't listen
>no steel, rock or ground types
There's literally nothing I can aside from over level. Unless I restart and pick Torchic, but I don't wanna do that.
Goddamn the grinding in this game is painful.
I wanna get all the pokemon i want in my team to level 20
to atleast be on par with the current trainers i'm vsing in the story
but even then the trainer levels are going to surpass my pokemon
levels which just means i need to grind more later on. Fuck my life.
>ALL CAPS NAMES
better start over kid, Pokemon have canonically lower-case letter names from Gen 5 and onwards.
I bet you named your rival something gay as Hugh
why do you have only four pokemon? There's dozens you could have caught in the areas up to that point. If you want to swap out something for a new one later then you can do so without remorse, the gen 5 games (Black/White and the sequels) have scaling EXP gains so lower level monsters catch up quick.
I haven't played Pokemon since my Y version playthrough, I was kinda put off by what I saw and heard of ORAS despite gen 3 being my second favourite after gen 5. Maybe I'll pick up Alpha Sapphire at some point, though. I make it a point not to plan things out too much, it just sucks the fun out of trying new things in each game. Though I would have to pick Treecko as starter for old times' sake in ORAS' case.
The thing is, you need to realize that you don't need to match the NPC trainers' levels. Ever. Just build a balanced team with good type coverage and slap the HMs you need somewhere in there, use basic strategy like stat boosting moves/status conditions/switching pokemon (and if all else fails use a bunch of potions) and you will never run into trouble unless you're playing some crazy romhack like >>315380261
tl;dr Pokemon requires zero grinding and you're just inviting tedium if you think otherwise
>raising a literally perfect waifumon
No problem, a lot of the time /v/irgins take offense to the suggestion that they're making their experience with a Pokemon game worse by grinding when I see no reason to. In Gold/Silver/Crystal and HeartGold/SoulSilver, Red's team is in the lv80 range, yet I usually reach his doorstep and beat him with my team in the 50-60 range. Of course, his levels are way inflated because he's a single trainer as opposed to the gauntlet that the League challenge + regional Champ offers in most other games. But it's all always doable, if not by pure strategy, then at least through attrition and abusing bad AI. And I say that's a lot more interesting and satisfactory than just steamrolling everything through overleveling.
And hey, the gen 6 games now have the new and revised Exp Share that was pretty much made for people who like grinding, so those people can be appeased too.
I recently tried the new pokemans too. The only difference is I'm playing through a 151 hack of black 2. I have to say the hack is adding quite a lot in terms of variety, and challenge in the gyms. Being that I play pokemans casually I was actually forced to look up counters and what have you in order to progress through these gyms. If you're interested in checking it out it also has a black1 counterpart and they both go by the name 'Blazing Black'.
>Have you guys started a new pokemon
Started White and also Alpha Sapphire
>What Starter did you pick?
>Plans for you team?
Trying nuzlocke run haven't played since original ruby
>Pokemon thread go.
I just got an emulator on my phone so I can play a ROM hack of Pokemon Crystal. I've played Gen 1 to death and decided to get into Gen 2 again. The hack I'm playing, Crystal Kaizo, includes all 251 Pokemon (with a secret 252nd Pokemon) since you can't exactly trade with real people. Not only that, it makes the overall game more difficult. Gym leaders all have six Pokemon including some curve balls that will counter whatever Pokemon they're supposed to be weak against. Dungeons and maze areas are completely reconstructed for fresh puzzle areas. It's fucking sick and really makes me engrossed in my playthrough. Oh, and I picked based Totodile.
>B2W2 is the best in the series
Not when HG/SS exist
I just finished Pokemon tumblr edition (aka reborn), it was actually not too bad, aside from the forced as shit gender progressiveness and erratic difficulty curve.
>your choice of any 1 starter, neat
>have to scrape your ass to get even shitty pokemon in the beginning
>story is severely grimdark at points, but otherwise pretty cool
>stupid gender politics bullshit; all the strong males are evul and everyone is gay or bi
>character introduced just so he can teach you about ninbinary pronouns, fucking stupid
>merciless level cap that gym leaders fucking laugh at, final episode leader's last mon is 12 levels above cap and a mega
>leaders WILL stealthrock and stall your shit, monotype leaders will have answers to every super effective setup
>increased shiny rate, visible IV/EV
>12 on 12 double battles
>no legendaries for you scrub, build a proper team
>original-ish environment battle system is also pretty cool, but it's only ever used to give leaders even more advantage against you, fucking shit
If you like pokemon and looking for a challenge, and you can see past the obvious agenda, it's really quite good
>mfw getting absolutely bodied by the first leader
When HANS got released I started playing Neo Y and Rutile Ruby. Rutile Ruby is hard as balls but quite fun, though the wild encounters aren't very interesting and the gym leaders are stressful as hell because they have smogon-tier teams and I don't have the resources yet to compete with that. Neo Y has good wild encounters but the trainer battles are hard. And not in a good way like Rutile Ruby, just retarded level scaling and impossible movesets.
Also started a Firered randomiser a while ago, and am like almost done Crystal. I've got like 10 saves going at once fuck
>Waifufaggot being retarded
Never saw that coming
II > IV > VI > V2 > III > I > dog shit > V1
>When your bro picks Totodile
>But you a Torchic fan
you could try voltwhite or blazeblack, it keeps the story but is balls hard, though you have access to a LOT of mons
reborn is pretty simple to start up(and free of course), so you can always give it a shot and bin it if you don't like it
>Even numbered gens are the only good ones
V = I >>> III > IV = II > VI
You're giving G5 too much credit. It's great, but not as good as G1 or G3. Still better taste than that johtool.
I always end up out leveling all the trainers because I battle every single one in every corner of the room and end up with more xp than what the designers would expect a kid to have for each gym. Battle every trainer and finish off some wild pokemon now and then. Also basic strategy should help you win as well, the game is designed for kids to beat afterall.
If Hg/SS had a better level curve, it would be perfect.
BW2 gives you a wide variety of Pokemon to play around with, the NPCs have charm, the cities and environments are also enjoyable, and Johto has no Hydreigon.
Unova has Hydreigon.
Clearly one of these regions have something baller going on here.
>thread full of /vp/ trying to claim Gen5 and Gen2 aren't good.
Go back to your OR/AS hug box. I know it's slow and full of cancer, but hopefully that will improve when Super comes out.
HG/SS ≥ B2/W2 > B/W > Platinum > Emerald > FR/LG > G/S/C > X/Y > OR/AS > D/P > R/S > R/B/Y
FR/LG count as G1 to me, just like HGSS count as G2 to me
>only certain pokemon I'd call waifus
>having more than one waifu
My opinion of you declines every time you post.
>Having only one pokewaifu
Pleb as fuck, love is for sharing.
I just don't like gen 2's level scaling and monster availability. Every other player's team ends up looking the same and the game crams two short regions into the same length as the other games in the series. HGSS repeat these mistakes and also suffer from gen 4's slow-ass engine on top of it.
>finally get back to my Platinum playthrough after like 3 months
>DS stops working immediately
Last one i played was x, was good until i got endgame and it was shit. I have a perfect squirtle and a shiny squirtle on it.
Most favorite was probably platinum, im too busy with nostalrius nowadays to have patience for platinum
