Anyone else excited for Dragons Dogma: Dark Arisen on PC?
Honestly the single game I'm massively hyped for, absolutely loved it on PS3 (despite having a <10fps), been waiting for this for years now.
>Dragons Dogma: Dark Arisen on PC
Wow. I can't believe I missed this. I thought it was another joke but it's actually happening. Really excited. Thanks mate
Let's just hope it sells well so Capcom can see what a gem they have to monetize and later destroy.
Very excited. At the moment, I'm just looking forward to JC3 in a month and DD for the PC fucking finally. I must have put hundreds of hours on the 360 back then and I've still been hankering to play more of it. Haven't tried the Dark Arisen shit yet so that's also something to look forward to.
Likely true. I'd completely forgotten about that.
It is definitely worth giving a chance.
Sheeeet I didn't even realize JC3 is not a 2016 game.
Now I'm not even that disappointed that DD won't be here for the holidays, would've been super comfy but I can deal with TW3 and JC3
Damn the next few months gonna be fun as fuck as far as vidya goes
Its clearly what it is.
Why would they release it all these years later? Especially when it runs on MT framework, an engine specifically designed for cross platform PC compatibility? Copy-paste-settings options they could have ported DD in a week if they wanted.
Sales of this will see if they will bring DDO over.
Ohhh nigga you're missing out. Dark Arisen has one of the most fun dungeon-crawling experiences, at least IMO. Bitterblack Isle is absolutely huge, and very atmospheric. Definitely gives you a sense of descending into the abyss as enemies get tougher, the light grows dimmer, and your stock of potions/heals are starting to run out.
Comes out 1st of December. I like that the fanbase for the JC series isn't that big and that the devs aren't straying at all from the formula, just expanding that shit with more toys to play with and a new map to fool around in. They also mentioned that they'll be making more of the game moddable so that'll be a nice treat too, if true.
RPG button mashing beat'em'up with varied (and I'd say significantly different) play styles, interesting quests, great boss battles, and a whole lot of atmosphere and heart.
Did my best.
I know, and it was killing me for not getting on that shit when I had the chance. After my 360 died and I made the jump to PC, I tried getting DA on my PS3 but the framerate and resolution were absolutely horrible. I mean, I know and have accepted that consoles have their hardware limitations but goddamn that shit was unbearable. I'd been hoping for a DD PC port for years now, and seems my wish is coming true. When it was announced, I was honestly so fucking happy and even happier that I can delve into DA fresh as fuck at 1440p/60fps.
I love the game to death, but I'm well aware it isn't perfect. It can be pretty hit or miss.
Just off the top of my head - there are some shitty balancing issues with enemies being invulnerable health sponges or dying too fast, and escort quests are just awful. But the different classes all have a lot of depth to them and are incredibly unique. Enemies definitely have a Monster Hunter feel to them - fighting a 20-foot ogre actually feels like fighting a 20-foot ogre. It's also got some pretty good dungeons.
The moment when I knew I loved the game was when I was crossing through a canyon pass and an inconspicuous boulder suddenly rose up on two feet and turned into a giant rock golem. Scared the shit out of me, then battle music starts playing and the thing slaps me fifty feet off the cliff.
No idea and I didn't notice anything in any of the gameplay footages I've watched. It would be nice to have it in JC. JC2 had some really beautiful vistas but was pretty ass to catch a nice screenshot.
>DDO came out August 31
Looking up some of the game play, and wow, it looks like a blast. I've never been an MMO fan but this game might change my mind, if I ever get the chance to play it.
I can't Imagine the culture that would spawn from /v/ if it gets a port.
Just remember: when you do get to Bitterblack Isle, play at night with all the lights off.
I was enjoying myself throughout, but god, the moment I fell in love.
>Fighting a griffon
>charging up a devastator sword swing (or whatever it was called)
>Griffon swoops down in front of me
>unleash that swing
Woah boy. The weight of that attack, the animation freeze when connecting a critical hit, that sense of accomplishment.
Every boss battle felt like a victory and not a chore. Cant wait for the port.
Subjective mate. Memorable to say the least, because it's been over a year since I played it and I can still remember quite a few of the fun ones.
(every RPG is going to have quests that are a chore)
Will do anon. When I get my shit pushed in, have my pawns dead all around me and that reaper-looking fucker looming over me with my pants soggy with piss, shit and semen, I'll think of you.
Exactly the same, the game is so terribly right up my alley I was really excited for it on consoles but GOD DAMN mang the only thing running worse than that is Drakengard 3
>the fuzzy ass upscaled resolution
>black fucking bars and they don't even have the HUD on them so I could actually see the fuzzy shit underneath
As a PC fag it was too much, I dropped it and mourned the loss, tried again when Dark Arisen came, gave up again.
And now it actually paid off that I didn't suffer through a compromised experience.
>being excited for 2 year old console scraps
>being excited for a boring rpg
I'd say you might enjoy it less than somebody who suffered through it. They're likely to be more impressed.
Please take your negativity somewhere else. Isn't there some other game coming out you could complain about?
Most of the people excited are ones who already played on console. It ran like hot fucking garbage.
60 FPS and an effective remastering is a godsend.
I can appreaciate a graphics upgrade but I simply could not appriaciate the gameplay on consoles.
Now I get to have both the "new" experience since I didn't play through the game and without it being ruined by the paltform.
Regardless - it was either NOT playing DD, or playing it at a good quality.
If you've really never owned a console or anything I can see why it might be an issue. But it is not unusual for games to run like that, all things considered it wasn't too bad.
I guess he meant that the one's who did suffer through it all the way till the end AND replayed it an ungodly amount of time would have an even better appreciation of the improved resolution and framerate. Regardless of whether it's one way or another, what's most important is that now we'll get to enjoy DD at a vastly improved quality. What a time to be alive.
>all things considered it wasn't too bad.
You must love shoveling shit into your mouth. I mean, really. It ran in the teens during most battles, everything was grainy, and there was screen tearing EVERYWHERE.
My first ogre experience was pretty hilarious
>Everfall, no lantern oil left
>hear grunting and weird monkey noises ahead
>get too close, it turns around and stands upright
>pawn says some dumb shit and charges it
>ogre absent-mindedly swings around and backhands my pawn, sending her plummeting into the dark abyss
>her icon flat out disappears and I never see her again
>lower the ogre's health, it enrages
>berserking gorilla charges full-speed at my mage pawn standing near the rim of the pit
>drop kicks her square in the teeth, she doesn't stand a chance
>both my pawn and the ogre fall to their deaths
could you fuck off back to /tg/?
I'm actually pretty excited about this but I hope they dont force the letterbox like on console, thats pretty much my only concern.
The controls will probably be the same or very similar to ddo and if not there is always controllers.
I have an entire folder and I will continue for as long as I desire bitchboy you wanan fucking go baka senpai
I owned consoles but never were a big console player, I've been playing on PC since I was 6.
Its always harder to get into a console game for me due to things like aiming with a stick and all - but actually seeing that this game and knowing that IT ACTUALLY LOOKS GOOD underneath that crap just annoyed the fuck out of me, I simply got mad at having to play an obviously good game in this dogshit held-back manner.
I know, they get to enjoy it in another way than I do, I wouldn't exactly say its preferable to experiencing the game in all its glory for the first time, just different.
>I know, they get to enjoy it in another way than I do, I wouldn't exactly say its preferable to experiencing the game in all its glory for the first time, just different.
Agreed. You'll get to go through everything fresh as fuck. Can't say that I'm not jealous of that, I have to be honest. DD was fun as fuck going in blind. Replaying it with improved quality will be an absolute blast but, even after all these years, I know everything there is to know about the base game. Thank God I get to go through Dark Arisen fresh.
Oh god. That Everfall ogre. I had a similar thing happen
>Playing a mage one run
>squads dying left and right
>I'm running around reviving like a mad man
>taking so many hits, on the verge of death
>revive this shitty pawn again (absolutely useless, had no equipped abilities)
>ogre grabs that clown and charges off the ledge to its death
God damn that game was fun
Enjoyed it on a 360 and gonna love it on PC too.
Honestly, that's all I ever really wanted, this game on PC. Just a fucking shame it took so long to get there. But hey, I can finally play without frame-rate drops and better LOD.
I wonder if they're going to remove those annoying black bars, they really ruined the experience.
I've played all sorts of games on many kinds of consoles, Dogma is not bad for what it is. There's so many lesser games that are actually worse that it's difficult to get excited. Of course I'd like 60 fps so this port is exciting.
You have a hub that can hold like 100 players per channel, from there you can invite players into your party or assign pawns to your party. Then you leave into the gameworld proper which is private for your party.
SO FUCKING HYPED
a known to be good game coming to PC? even if they fuck it up horrendously as jap devs often do on PC mods will fix it. I haven't been this sure of a release since DaS1.
I haven't said that, but obviously, without any intention of insulting - console players will have lower standards for this, exactly because you've played a lot of other games like it.
I haven't lowered the resolution of my game from native monitor resolutions ever since there IS a native resolution.
So even that is like they are pulling my teeth.
Are parties the general 4 person set up, and pawns can be used in place of an actual person?
The hub channel sounds like a good system given the nature of the game. Are there any other games that do this?
That's exactly how it works, Anon.
It's been awhile since I played, but when I did the pawns were very, VERY stupid, so I just partied with other people from the Dragon's Dogma general on /vg/.
rip /ddg/, you were actually a really nice thread
>Haven't played console games for years, last console I had was a first gen PS3 that I sold to a friend years ago
>Heard heaps of good shit about Dragon's Dogma, and love me some non-causal RPGs
>Ask wife to get me a used PS3 and Dragon's Dogma as Christmas gift
>Around new year I give it a try
>Framerate and jaggies are so bad I thought the PS3 was fucked, didn't know it was normal until I actually looked up play footage of it on Youtube
>Couldn't even get more than 2 hours into the game because of how choppy it ran; was giving me literal migraines
>Gave PS3 away to nephew
So... This is what PC users have been missing out on...
Bought it on 360. Bought DA on release. Day one buy on PC. Already planning on taking the day off from work to play. I have 6 gamertags, 5 of which are just for dogma alts.
All I want is a stable framerate (60 FPS confirmed, but I don't care if its 30, just stable) and multiple save files.
Upgrading my PC just for this. Wasnt going to upgrade this generation but an exception is made, hoping alot of people buy in and show that there is an interest in the series in the west.
Im wondering if theyre going to release a version for PS4 and Xbone too, anything to keep the dream alive.
Wow someone sure is fuck full of rage for no reason.
Who hurt you anon...
Or were you seriously considering they'll be remaking the game's fighting system since they have more buttons available now?
Makes me wonder what the system requirements are going to be, the PS3 had all round pretty shit hardware so I cannot imagine it would take that much to run smoothly on a PS4/PC.
That was so you could make "builds", so everyone wasnt playing the exact same way. If you could use every ability as soon as you unlock it there would be absolutely no difference in pawns, defeating the entire purpose of the pawn system.
I don't usually care about PC ports of console games but seriously when your options are PS3's 2 FPS or the 360's headache inducing screentearing, I'm ready to fucking burn my 360 copy when this comes out
Already happened as soon as it was announced. People were saying that the pkeks were going to ruin the game, and make horrible memes. I just got in the thread and posted memes from back in the day /DDG/.
>tfw going to have to re teach my pawn everything again
Here's another question /v/.
Dark Souls became famous here when it was proted to PC. Is it likely that Dragon's Dogma will surpass Dark Souls' popularity in /v/ when it comes to PC?
>Be a Red vocation
>With a Warrior Pawn
>Encounter Wights and Liches
>They just hover high enough to be out of jump attack range
>Takes around 10 minutes for Yellow and Blue Pawns to kill them
Well sure it'll help DD's popularity when it gets ported, that's what Capcom is expecting too.
But the thing is it'll also profit from a lot of console players that would've liked to play this game with proper two digit FPS and loaded textures in the first place.
The souls series was already well received before the pc port on /v/ and the rest of the internet.
Dragons Dogma is in a similar situation to pre pc port Dark Souls, but I think the boat has sailed for it to ever gain the mainstream popularity that Dark Souls had.
Gross, that's not panties suitable for a warrior.
No but I would constantly take my pawn and let them kill enemies by themselves
>warrior can kill the drake by itself
>fighter can hold its own against living armour, only having to stop when they can no longer deal physical damage
I want pawn vs pawn pokemon battles.
I should see if my Pawn can kill a Drake by itself
Revive them, let them continue. Also is there something that triggers the roar or is it just random, because it seems like it only does it after its been dealt a fair amount of damage or you consistently disable it.
Corona storm, arc of fuck you or it's faster cousin, exodus slash.
>Dragonkin will immediately Roar in retaliation when one of its horns are destroyed, its heart is exposed, or when its wings are disabled.
The backstep attack or whatever its called, you can use it to "evade", it gives you i-frames. Also the savage lash attack is a great skill to teach warrior pawns, its faster than arc of deliverance and the AI cant fuck it up by moving out of range when charging it and its quick to charge, teach them to use the attack when an enemy is knocked over and youll find that your pawn can fuck large enemies for you.
So Corona Storm, Indomitable Lunge, Exodus Slash. Should I get that one augment that increases knockdown power? Are there any other skills that are still good but not quite enough to have a slot?
Also my pawn is gonna be a strider or mods willing an Assassin.
>Should I get that one augment that increases knockdown power?
>Are there any other skills that are still good but not quite enough to have a slot?
Whirlwind Slash is good if you don't want to use Corona Storm.
>It might not actually do anything according to the wiki.
Well that is new to me.
>excited to go full warlock with a huge twohander
>weapons are restricted to classes
what the fuck is this retarded shit? fuck.
Can I go Mystic Knight, learn the skills and then switch to Warrior and use them?
There will never be a "Dragons Dogma: Berserk Edition"
Same here I did Assassin my first time through and then switched to Magic Knight so I think I'm gonna go Sorcerer or Magic Archer this time around. Is Magic Archer as broken as everyone says it is?
You only get 3 Skills as a Warrior, upside is Warrior has strongest weapons, stronger Core Attacks, great Augments, decent growths and its for manly men.
I currently don't have a PC because
I got a free Macbookso I'm considering getting Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen for PS3.
I've wanted it for years but now have some time to get into it, should I get it?
I'm an unrepentant Demon's Souls fanboi if that means anything.
In Cassardis? Go to the pier at night, talk to Olra, she'll ferry you to BBI. You can then talk to her and get ferried right back to the mainland. Never have to step foot into BBI.
Hopefully someone will mod some post-Golden Age Berserk armors in there, the Dragonslayer would be nice too.
I never had the chance to play DD, so it's good that it's coming to PC.
i played both dragons dogma and dark arisen to 100% completion and let me tell you both are dragons dogshit. you pcfats are getting exciting over nothing. also enjoy another shoddy port with 30 fps lock lol.
Played on PS3, had to drop it because I had to design my party around the framerate issues. Fuck that shit.
Excited to actually being able to play it. I guess the core fans are also excited they can finally play it instead of watching a slideshow? Or are they bitter consolewar faggots?
spell it right or kill yourself you subhuman fuck
Only until you're fully set up
If you do it right, you never have to fully charge a spell
>have at least one sorc pawn with Utilitarian as the primary inclination, more is more consistent but you still need someone to distract the enemies
>start casting your big spell
>wait for the to start synchronized casting
>cancel the charge and cast a smaller spell or two
>right before they finish, start casting the big spell again, synchronized casting fills the bar to equal theirs automatically
>cast High Bolide without waiting
It depends on the AI to not get distracted and fuck up, but if you've got a cooperative pawn it really increases the number of spells going off, and the payoff is worth it. Magic has never been as satisfying as watching two dozen meteors completely obliterate a cyclops
Its going to be so much better at more than 5 fps
Holy focused bolt is by far the best attack in the game though
I have a question about dragon's dogma so I'll ask it here. I really really want to play Bitterblack isle but as I got a little further I realized I was way under leveled because everything was a crazy damage sponge. I was around level 70 when I played and the eye boss took me so long because I was doing no damage. I also got destroyed by the dragons and didn't even get close to doing damage. I was in NG ++. Do I really have to beat the game like 5 more times to get to the right level or is there an easier way to level up?
It would make him a lot less annoying
Magic archer is fucking hilarious in BBI at least
You really only need to upgrade your weapons/get better ones to do BBI. The blacksmith Barroch can do silver and gold level upgrading but you must dragon forge the weapons first before he can work on them.
There are two pawns that wander the everfall. They sell the BBI tier 1 weapons. Upgrade your stuff to 3 stars, and just go to town. When you hit a roadblock, rest back on the mainland for 6 days to reset BBI and the chests. You want to be getting cursed level 1 and 2 items to purify, maybe a level 3 if you get a lucky drop.
Isn't the Ur like a huge pain in the ass? I read up on the concept and the grace period and everything and it seems ridiculous. I have a small windows to actually kill the thing and get loot? Assuming of course I happen to be playing now at that time and not at work or anything. It seems like you have such a small chance of actually killing it.
You can do offline Ur, but that's only good for farming Wakestones (and the online gear is outdated due to Bitterblack).
If you want to do BBI, you can simply sprint through until you grab a lv.1 Cursed Weapon from a chest or buy weapons from the vendors in the Everfall.
I hope none of you will sexualize your pawn.
Just look how embarrassed she is.
Dragon's Dogma is an example of a game I never bought on console simply for the horrendous framerate issues, so I'm happy to finally get a chance to play it in a way beyond Powerpoint presentation
Out now. Already playing with EN patch. It falls into the MMO trap of end game being grinding for gear so you can fight the big guy.
Combat is fun for a while but ends up becoming formulaic like most action online games; i.e. you take the skill that results in the most deeps and you spam it.
how do the pawns work in this game anyway? are they just other people's MCs, or do you get to customize your own bitchboys to follow you as well? when you pull one from online do you get a random one or can you inspect them first? How many followers can you have at a time? I played the demo on xbox and I recall there being like 4 other people fighting a griffon with me. I want my party to just be a mob of children.
You make your own Pawn, you can also recruit other Arisen's Pawns either by going into the Rift, or by talking to them in your world. You can check out everything about them before you recruit them, you can only have 4 at a time. Hiring Pawns that are a lower level than you is free, higher Pawns of a higher level costs increasingly more rift crystals. Pawns from players on your friend list are free to rent, Pawns that are a lower level than you boost exp, higher level Pawns lower the exp you get. If you're not playing online there are premade Pawns to rent, they're generally shit though.
You have your main character, and your own pawn which is AI controlled. Both are made in character creation. Pawns change their behaviour and learn about the world/monsters.
You can also hire two extra pawns, which are the main pawns of other players. Similarly your pawn will get hired as the 3rd/4th member of parties in other worlds.
Pawns in other worlds are basically clones, you still have your own pawn with you at all times. But if pawns do go to other games, anything they encounter will basically become their own knowledge which they can then help you with, and pawns can be gifted items and equipment too.
It's basically asynchronous multiplayer done in a pretty fun way, as customisation and choosing the right vocations and skills is a big deal. Good players will train their pawns properly and they'll only hire other pawns they know are good (i.e. they don't have the Guardian inclination)
