Do people who bought a Wii U feel boned about it basically being a 7.5 gen console that's gonna get replaced so soon?
>Nintendo is still planning support for at least 2016
Support is going to be even worse than it was this year. Remember the final years of the Wii? You have that to look forward to with Wii U.
>Zelda U which Aonuma reiterated recently is still coming to Wii U
>Princess HD comming to WiiU
So it has no support, got it. Listen, Nintendo will tell you anything at this point, even that zelda is comming to wiiU but dont be so niave, seriously.
They need first party games to flagship their new console and they sure as hell aren;t going to make them redundant by making them cross-compatiable with the old system...
I got a few hours of entertainment from it so it was worth the few bucks I spent on it.
Not everyone here is a poorfag student/autist
I've got Bayonetta 1 + 2, Captain Toad, Deus Ex HR, Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze, Hyrule Warriors, Kirby and the Rainbow Paintbrush, the Wind Waker HD, Mario Kart 8, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, New Super Mario Bros. U + New Super Luigi U, Ninja Gaiden 3 RE, Pikmin 3, Rayman Legends, Super Mario 3D World, Splatoon, Super Smash Bros. 4, Wonderful 101, Yoshi's Wolly World, Project Zero and Super Mario Maker
I'm pretty happy.
Plus datamines plus Link's new render being an edited TP render is pretty obvious TP HD is happening.
as much as I want zelda on the wii u in fact it would make the system 100% worthwhile i honestly don't believe we're going to see it on here despite what the link says due to nintendso current circumstance
i know princess hd is comming but that is what i doubt too will ever come to the wiiu, could be a 3ds game for what we know unless that render is something else but i havent seen it
i highly doubt even the most seasoned nintendo fan would genuinely just happen to enjoy all of those games, there has to be a point where the nintendoism gets put on hold for a second and a person realises there are some games thats he really likes to play and enjoys and there some arten't.
I doubt many people would actually enjoy playing every single game on that list, it seems dishonest to think that.
>as much as I want zelda on the wii u in fact it would make the system 100% worthwhile i honestly don't believe we're going to see it on here despite what the link says due to nintendso current circumstance
Good for you, but you've got nothing concrete to base that on, while the opposite statement does.
I don't have a wiiu but wish I did, it by far has the best library
For xbone (which I own), only games I want/have are MCC, Halo 5, MKX, Recore, and the rest of the halo games that will come out eventually. For ps4, it's all basically just weeb games (Jojo, Digimon, Godzilla), and bloodborne, and increasingly more anime games are coming on PC.
boned? no. disappointed? somewhat.
ultimately I knew what I was in for, a few quality titles and a lot of shovel ware.
Saying that the wii has a great library is just fucking sad. It's got a bunch of mediocre games people pretend are great (Wonderful 101, Hyrule Warriors, Splatoon.) The worst versions of their main entries (Tr4ash) no Metroid, no Zelda, and an some very good kids games (Mario 3D World, Pikmin 3) And it's life is already over.
It's a fucking disgrace really. Anywhere outside of /v/ it is a fucking laughing stock, because Nintendo absolutely dropped the pathetic cunts whom for SOME REASON are still defending this console?! Compare this piece of junk to the SNES, PS1 or PS2 and it doesn't even BEGIN to come anywhere fucking near it, not by a million miles.
Bayonetta 2 is the single great game it has and even then it is nice action title from Platinum which the PS4 and Xbox One will both have by next year. (Nier Automata, Scalebound) and even then those 3 games entirely won't be something a lot of people even give a shit about.
I've enjoyed my WiiU experience so far and still have games I want/am looking forward too, but I didn't buy in at launch. The WiiU itself is pretty shitty. The hardware was too expensive. The gamepad doesn't add much and took away from resources that could've made the WiiU more powerful. If not for Splatoon, I would've said the gamepad was a total waste. And it's dead, too. Nothing's changing that. Better to move on.
Smash awful online, projectile spam
Splatoon almost no maps, repetition, shallow
Bayonetta 2 knockoff dmc for virgins
Hyrule warriors the worst musou game ever made
Wonderful 101 literally only even mentioned because it was exclusive, turned out to be a 6.5 out of 10 everywhere except with defensive fanboys
MK8 okay for two days then maybe rare parties
Xenoblade 2 don't know enough about this to criticize it but shulk tells me I'm not missing anything
Pikmin 3 joystick rts for children, pass
I've honestly regretted having Wii U. Only games i found worth buying are Mario Kart and Smash, and they both are just rehashes. There isn't even anything coming up in near future. I think Nintendo should just stop making consoles and take the road of Sega.
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
Don't fall for it people.
Anytime you see a anti-nintendo thread.
It's a dedicated group of bored kids that constantly tries to stir up shit.
And then retards fall for their tricks.
Don't do it.
It's so clear it hurts. The pattern is always the same.
This is console war bullshit.
The Wii U is basically the Dreamcast of its time, except where the Dreamcast was ahead of its time the Wii U is behind, and except how the Dreamcast had good games the Wii U has only a few, and except how people remember the Dreamcast fondly the Wii U will be remembered as a slightly less crap Gamecube, and except how SEGA went out with a bang Nintendo will slowly continue its long cancerous battle with newer unremarkable console releases until its like how Atari released the Jaguar and nobody cared and Nintendo just become a label people only remember by wearing t-shirts with Nintendo printed on them.
splatoon is good though
OP here I don't even own a PS4 or Xbox One so I couldn't possibly care less about console wars "mine is better than yours" shit. It just seems weird to release Wii U an entire year before the other 2 then bring out an entire new console while the other 8th gen consoles are still being produced. I don't want them to end up pulling a Sega if Sony and Microsoft end up starting 9th gen in like 2018 so Nintendo ends up having to make an entire new console and NX ends up as an only 3 year long lifespan and everyone loses faith and nintendo ends up in the toilet. this is the opposite of an anti-nintendo thread I'm just worried it's a bad decision to completely be off cycle with releases.
Nintendo is the only company with a soul.
>Sony started was/is a radios/transceivers company
>Microsoft was/is computer software/operating systems
>They both only got into videogames to make money
>They really don't give a fuck, especially micro-"just buy an xbox360 if you're poor haha"-soft
>Sony sort of does only due to their japanese ultra modest culture
Nintendo has always been a game company that ventured into video game medium.
>Started making playing cards, hand-fucking-made
>They moved onto, and then ditched, cab service and love hotel business in favor of making toys for kids, which is more wholesome and fulfilling
>They then got into videogames in the 70's and are the 3rd most valuable company in their country
>Success due to their passion of making fun games, not too worried about money like others, always bundling a mario game for free since the NES
>Nintendo loves fun so much they bought the seattle mariners, a u.s. baseball team
Fuck everyone who hates nintendo, honestly.
As long as Nintendo is alive, videogames will be alive.
>always bundling a mario game for free
What a fucking kuckolded delusional faggot you are. Why did I get shovelware like wii sports and nintendoland with my wii and wii u faggot? I dont remember getting a free gc or n64 game either.
Ive never gotten a free game with a new console purchase. I remember some mario 64 and sunshine bundles later on but thats it. Same with mario kart wii and shit. I dont knmow about the others tbf
Nevermind, you're a drone. Why even bother?
Do you believe that there wouldn't be paid exclusives? I'm pretty sure Microsoft would love to get there hands on a Nintendo series that appeals to Japan and Sony is always doing the whole exclusive content only on Playstation thing
Ive had more friends in one year of high school than you will have in your whole life. Wii sports is good for seeing how shitty the motion tracking and laughing at it while talking about what were going to do next.
>Ive had more friends in one year of high school than you will have in your whole life
>this level of nin10tearold fanboyism while they sell you annual iterations of beaten down hardware and drop support 2 years into their home console so they can sell you another hardware revision while offering another subquality line of first party shovelware
Nintendo's product quality is so astronomically above the level of anyone else, that ,yes, it is literally ok when Nintendo does it.
Get fucking good, Sony/Microsoft.
You're missing the point. I'm saying the Nintendo franchises would end up being split between Sony and Microsoft because they know that an exclusive Nintendo series would sell consoles. You would end up having to get 2 consoles anyways
TeeBeeH Pham we want that Nintendo audience
they got limited edition bundles all the time that costs the same as a standard unit
The Wii U sold worse than the dreamcast.
Let that sink in.
The dreamcast was killed by peter moore (effectively killing off SEGA SPORTS) before he was hired by EA SPORTS and the death of the dreamcast almost killed SEGA.
>Nintendo's product quality
>making their consumers lucky dip when buying n3DS's because they repackaged second rate 240p screens randomly in the production line
not even sony dose that cmon now pham. I'dd admit they used to be on point during the past but even their current line of handhelds are toys in comparison to pic related
ded system has 3 monster hunters, 6+ arpgs, visual novels to boot including corpse party 1,2,3, danganronpa 1,2,3 dragon quest builders on the horizon, gravity rush, superbeat xonic and a huge 2016 line up including toukiden 2(open world). family please, its a good system dont believe the meme. ill even admit the 3ds also has a solid library and it dose, both platforms are worth getting imo
Not really. It's a bit cheaper than normal consoles, and I got a few classics out of it. Replacing it so soon isn't ideal but is necessary - they bungled the launch, it will never get a successful install base and wasn't a "little" less powerful than the PS4 or XBONE, it was closer to last gen.
I'm happy with the wii u experience, flawed as it is. I will get an NX. If it has another short lifespan, I won't get its successor.
Bayonetta 2 is the worst garbage in the Wii U's catalog. It's at the level of Yoshi's Wooly World and Kirby's Rainbow Curse. All meant for adult-children with development disorders.
>Bought it on release
>Have 12 exclusive games for it
>Not forced to pay for online
>I going to get 2 more years of support
>Exclusive games are cheaper than on other consoles
Why should i feel boned?
Why Nintendo has to rush underpowered shit to the market? I'm sure NX will barely compare to PS4, and when Sony and Microsoft are planning to move on NX has only been out for 2 years.
>a console that died 3 years into its life is worth the price
I own a wiiu and own games for it but even I'm not that delusional.
buying the wiiU itself is stupid, but i'm probably not going to buy another piece of nintendo hadrware for the rest of my life
>I going to get 2 more years of support
>>I going to get 2 more years of support
lol that wishful thinking
>>Exclusive games are cheaper than on other consoles
Out and out bullshit, nintendo games retain prices very close to retail for their entire life cycle.
>Bought it second hand cheaper than new with 7 games 5 of which being the best 1st party titles.
>Games that came out at a pace that i can manage with my lifestyle, still have to finish bayo 2 and w101, still need to get wooly world and xenoblade
>installed home brew channel, full wii, gcn, nes, snes, gb, megadrive library all in one place running through hdmi.
I am pretty content desu.
>Buy game on release
>Costs me between 35-45 on Wii u
>55-75 on PS4/XBox One
>Can sell my Wii U game for 25-30 again
>Can sell my console games fore less than 20
Yep the only bullshit i see is your post kiddo
>>Costs me between 35-45 on Wii u
-75 on PS4/XBox One
did you shop at one store and arrive at this conclusion? where are you even from?
and lol at comparing something like release price of witcher 3 to something like yoshi woolworld that was made on a $20 budget...
>but i'm probably not going to buy another piece of nintendo hadrware for the rest of my life
I bought a WiiU cause I got suckered into believing it was supposed to be their return to grace.
>Nintendo teases Zelda U early
>fans get excited
>realise Wii U is failing hard
>make a plan to release a new console halfgen
>need a new Zelda to prevent the next console from flopping
>Zelda U is now Zelda NX
>Wii U gets a HD remake of one the worst Zedla games instead
i'd laugh so hard if that happened
I cant say i am happy about it.
But i feel sorry for the people who didnt own a wii u hyping the NX, believing all the problems nintendo currently has(which are 100% fault on their side and not the hardware) will suddenly vanish when they NX releases. In reality it will have the same problems(probably with even worse consequences when they have to keep up with high end standards) the wii u had.
jesus christ. I kinda want this to happen now, just so I can see the uprising even though I still want zelda U on the wii.. alot.
Wii U games are cheaper than Ps4 and One games mate
You can go to Amazon ( atleast i'm going to do so now ) and look at prices.
So lets have a look at one of the best games for Wii U = Smash Brothers
Well i can buy it here for 44 bucks wow. Thats cheap.
Now lets have a look at the only good Ps4 exclusive Bloodborne:
Hey wow 60 bucks for that game thats a quite lot .
In other words kiddo stop shitposting
Wonderful 101 was one of the most refreshing games I played in years
Bayonetta 2 was a sequel to one of my favorite games last gen
Tropical Freeze is probably the most well thought out and designed platformer since Mario Galaxy
Pikmin 3 was a fun little adventure
Mario 3d world had the most satisfying bonus level ever to complete.
Smash 4 was OK for like a week Splatoon is pretty ho-hum and pretty shallow for a shooter I thought I would like Mario maker more, but designing levels is monotonous and all the top ranked levels online are music levels, auto play levels or kaizo bullshit xenoblade chronicles looks like it will be boring as shit
AM I suppose to feel bad for playing good games on the Wii-U?
Not like I bought a PS3 Remastered system or something.
>that's gonna get replaced so soon?
Stop being stupid
>No main series Zelda
Wii had 1.5
>No main series Mario
Wii had 2
>No main series Metroid
All Nintendo has released is spin-offs and it doesn't looking like that will change. We've heard nothing of a proper Mario release or Metroid and Zelda Wii U looks more like it's going to be Zelda NX every day. If the NX really is going to compete with PS5 and XB3 then the chances of a duel release is slim due to the hardware being over a generation apart.
The Wii U is a sinking ship and Nintendo have abandoned it. Star Fox was revived simply to release a Nintendo IP on the system while they concentrate on the NX.
I bought it for Smash and don't regret it. Borrowed Tropical Dong from a friend and bought Wooly World and will buy Pokken and Zelda (lel) when they come out eventually.
I do hope though, that the NX is not going to straight up replace the Wii U because I still hope for some video games that I can actually play. Everything I didn't mention is garbage I don't give a shit about. I am hoping for a new main Mario game.
>Google "Mario Wii U"
>New Super Mario Bros
>Mario 3D land
Sorry senpai, all I found were spin-offs. If there's a new Mario game that I'm missing, please let me in on it.
To bad you got jewed into buying smash, shitoon, and mario maker. Its really not that hard to tell that those are shallow rehashes riding the coat tails of previous games and nostalgia. I agree with all your points, except wonderful 101. I hated that game
I had a great time with my Wii U. It was the center of almost every gettogether we had, the games were great for groups and the single-player/campaign-focused games were tons of fun with my roommates. Nintendoland is easily my most played next to smash simply because of how much fun it could generate even with non-gamers.
Pikmin 3 was a great (if a bit short) sequel for a big fan like me. Tropical Freeze was more of DKCR's great level design plus some kickass music. Splatoon was a great idea with fantastic execution and lots cool elements. 3D World is among my favorite Mario's to date and is an absolutely sublime example of NOT just making a sequel. It combines elements from the whole series absolutely effortlessly and is just a phenomenal effort for Nintendo, and doubly impressive for a team with little-to-no influence from Miyamoto.
Hyrule Warriors and Mario Maker are fun distractions, but not much substance to them.
It's more games than I can say for most consoles that are "must-own", and I had a fantastic time playing all the exclusives. Were there bad choices made? Yep. But the result wasn't worthless.
I'm looking forward to seeing how the NX turns out, but as with any console launch it's probably not smart to buy it immediately.
>NAME A MARIO GAME
>NUUUHHH UHHH THAT DOESN'T COUNT
Wait, how come you count mario galaxy as a main mario game, but you don't count 3Dworld or NSMBU as a main mario game when the latter are closer to the original mario series than galaxies were?
You literally said Galaxy 1 and 2 is a main series mario, which is far more different from the original formula, than 3Dworld or NSMBU/LuigiU.
If anything, Galaxy was the spin off.
Seriously, and people say tripfags are retarded. . .
>Nigga you know 3D Land isn't on the same scale as .Bros, 64, Sunshine and Galaxy
You're right. Because none of these games play similarly. Each new installment of mario (disregarding Galaxy 2) plays very differently from the rest of the series. The idea that it "has to be a non-linear hub-based star collecting" thing is stupid because that's only happened in 3 of, what, 10 mainline mario games now?
It's a fun take on a genre that usually is grimdark and samey.
Also, it's fun.
3Dworld didn't have that treatment?
Sure, have some
I played the Splatoon testfire in May and I couldn't really get into it. Maybe its because I don't like console shooters, but I didn't like either gyro or stick controls. Aiming felt so laborious.
And then there's the fact that matches last 3 minutes. I don't know about you but that feels like an inordinate amount of time to play an online shooter, compared to Counter Strike or TF2. The essence of it all can't sink in well enough for me with the constant restarting.
Also... It feels really futile. Like, I know the object of the game is to cover territory and not amass a kill score, but it feels like only the last 30 seconds matter in regards to taking control. The other 2 minutes feels really uneven because of that.
Is there other modes that circumvent that issue? Is there a slight competitive edge to it? I'm not a tourneyfag but I like online games that reward me for skill and depth in gameplay, not like how I'd say Mario Kart or Smash is SUPER DUPER MLH COMPETITIVE, but I'd like to have at LEAST something that requires me to git gud on top of the casual outer shell. I heard there's different weapons and gear you can have to customize your abilities. Does that get any deep or affect gameplay significantly?
Seriously, don't even bother replying to obvious bait dude.
I mean, if we're gonna be pedantic about it, here's a list of all "mainline" mario games and their unique innovations.
>Super Mario Bros.
- Momentum-based movement
- controllable jumps
>Super Mario Bros 2 USA
- Item throwing
- Multiple characters
>Super Mario Bros. 3
- Level select/Overworlds
- Item holding (shells)
>Super Mario World
- Spin Jumping
- Secret World
- Secret Exits
- Extensive movement system
- Non-linear levels
- Non-linear hub world
- Good camera controls
- Even more movement controls
- Gravity-based levels
- Simultaneous Co-Op
You're playing on the wrong console bruv.
The comparisons to TF2 and Counter-Strike are pretty silly, aren't they? Splatoon isn't objective-based, it's territory control. The entire purpose is to dominate the map. 3-minute matches are short, but as you said, if the last 30 seconds are all that matters, why extend it? It's similar to sports: It all comes down to the last quarter. That's when everybody brings their A-game and does the "SECRET FINISHING MOVE".
>I heard there's different weapons and gear you can have to customize your abilities.
I haven't played in a few months but last I checked there was something like 20 different weapons total. Varieties of each type, plus types of subweapons. Some of the weapons that were in the test fire were shitty, but it's beginner gear.
>Does that get any deep or affect gameplay significantly?
The skill in splatoon is about position, strategy, and most importantly, your team! If your teammates suck, you're gonna lose even if you're pushing 11:0.
If you don't like it, there's no problem. It's just a game after all.
Not its (kind of) hacked? Not really.
I can play pirated Wii and GameCube backups as well as WiiU games (wiiu not 100% but improving)
Also being able to use a GameCube pad for ALL wiiu games is great.
Its easily replaced my GameCube/Wii at least.
>that's gonna get replaced
Every damn Nintendo console have been on the market for 5 years before the next system. The Wii U is no different.
The PS3 was a damn anomaly. And Nintendo has been very consistent.
Why are people acting like a system being on the market for 5 years is somehow unexpected or bad?
>Do people who bought a Wii U feel boned about it basically being a 7.5 gen console that's gonna get replaced so soon?
No. I like the games I have for it and am still looking forward to a few more which is magnitudes better than any other console at the moment. Also it's not getting replaced "so soon". Every Nintendo console so far has followed this release pattern.
Nintendo said that NX will be a "Side" console with the 3ds and Wii U.
And a 8th gen console is a 8th gen console whenever the console is underpowered or not. If 3ds is a 8th gen console, Wii U is obviously one too.
>Nintendo said that NX will be a "Side" console with the 3ds and Wii U.
They have literally not said that once and that would be a retarded investment.
Check your sources fucking retard. I know, >gamespot but still, fucking retard.
Anyone that thinks the NX is going to be more powerful than the PS4 is deluding themselves.
What would be the point of Nintendo designing something like that? They simply don't make the kinds of games that would require that type of power.
Does anyone genuinely believe Nintendo are even capable of creating a Witcher? Or a Skyrim? Or a Fallout?
Creating a powerful console would be such an incredible waste.....it's mind-boggling.
And nowhere in there do they call it "a side console".
Have you never heard of PR? Of course you don't say "YEP, WII U WAS A FAILURE, WE FUCKED UP". You say "No, the Wii U is doing fine and we're supporting it like a good company would!" and get brownie points with fans and press alike.
but what will actually happen is: Wii U currently receive all scheduled releases but no more will be planned. Nintendo will continue selling the Wii U until the NX picks up enough steam or the Wii U becomes too unprofitable.
It's the same shtick Sony did with the PS2 until fucking 2011 or some shit.
Yarn Yoshi or Tropical Freeze? I cancelled my Fallout 4 pre-order.
>Creating a powerful console would be such an incredible waste.....it's mind-boggling.
So that they could maybe start getting multiplat titles again? Wii and Wii U being a generation behind graphically is one of the biggest reasons they are struggling so much now.
Poor man's devil may cry, even ninja gaiden is better.
Mediocre experiment, worth a Redbox rental at most.
Worst 3D Mario game ever made for a home console.
Pikmin 2 is better in every way.
It's Donkey Kong, it's no different than the previous games not worth buying a console for.
A legitimately terrible game.
Get the fuck out of my face with any non-Melee Smash game.
>Mario Kart 8
The only game you listed worth buying.
They clearly said that "it will be supported alongside Nintendo's existing platforms." I never said that Wii U was a commercial success or anything, I'm only saying that only dipshits still use the "Wii U replacement" meme.
>but what will actually happen is: Wii U currently receive all scheduled releases but no more will be planned. Nintendo will continue selling the Wii U until the NX picks up enough steam or the Wii U becomes too unprofitable.
>Source: My ass
Third party games don't sell on Nintendo hardware. The PS4/XBO/PC is an entirely different demographic to Nintendo's audience. You know what sells on Nintendo hardware? Just Dance and party games. Entirely different demographic.
literally everyone else does, even NoA. if they didn't want to compete at all they wouldn't have tried hard in the beginning to push stuff like Arkham City, Mass Effect 3 (which is useless without 1 and 2 terrible idea), and Black Ops 2.
You honestly don't think the NX is being teased this early because the Wii U has been a failure in the eyes of the public?
You honestly believe Nintendo will support 3 consoles at once?
It's the Wii that cemented it into a "different demographic" thanks to shit hardware and controllers. I don't think they will ever redeem themselves, they will never dethrone Sony, but if they make a new console that is on par with PS4 (meaning porting multiplats is easy) then they have a chance to at least not lag THAT far behind. I think many people would like a system where they could play their usual third party games and also have access to Smash and the other most popular nintendo titles.
I don't have a WiiU, but even if I did, I wouldn't feel ripped off. The 360/PS3/Wii generation was unusually long for a console generation. Everything before that was around for about 5 years before their replacements came around.
Holy projection! What the fuck are you talking about?
>"Nintendo is going mobile and dropping consoles!"
I said nothing of the goddamn sort. I firmly believe the NX is a new console meant to appease critics of the Wii U, and it's no surprise they're moving on from their worst-selling console ever.
Beginning with the N64, they've always had to do something different from everybody else, which ended up fucking it up.
N64=sticking with cartridges
Gamecube=those small discs that had less storage space than a DVD
WiiU=The touchpad gimmick
faggot I meant compared to their competition. releasing a new console every 4 years will get weird when their competition ends up having 8 year life cycles every time.
>"things happened this way back in 2000 so that means it will always happen that way forever!"
They've always had bad decisions but Wii really took the cake. I mean it made them millions but it was a one-time thing, it grabbed casual's attention but noone cares about that any more.
The reason Nintendo is struggling so much now is because of culture.
Nintendo are a cringingly, painstakingly Japanese centric company. They don't know how to reach the western consumer which kind of puts them in a difficult spot seeing as the Japanese console market is all but completely dead and the west is solely keeping it afloat.
The rules of the game have changed but nobody told Nintendo. Don't get my wrong, I thank Miyomoto for my childhood memories but the mans image of what video games are and should be is in direct opposition to the modern industry where guns, sex and explosions top the charts consistently. The man is a dinosaur, a relic of the past. This is the guy that thought James Bond should go around a hospital at the end of GoldenEye on N64 to shake everyone's hand that he shot throughout the game. He's just so out of touch with western culture, it's tragic.
Nintendo needs to double down on mobile gaming because, ironically, that's the kinds of games they make. That's their home now, not in the living room. The AAA gaming scene is something Nintendo cannot understand. In fact, they actively fight it and had to be dragged kicking and screaming into the HD era. Investing 30m dollars/euro/pounds into a project like MGSV is not something they would even contemplate....it's an alien concept to them. And they simply can't survive in the modern industry if they don't want to adapt to the modern rules of the game.
Yeah, it's called Zelda. If they released a new Zelda game that wasn't a fucking HD update in the first couple months Wii U would have been a success. fucking Wind Waker HD caused sales to jump and it's not even a new game.
>Nintendo needs to double down on mobile gaming because, ironically, that's the kinds of games they make.
Yeah, because the mobile market is completely stable and doesn't at all require ridiculous amounts of marketing to maintain stable profits.
The xbone got a lot of bad press thanks to the disc DRM fiasco and that it was pricier than the PS4 even with weaker hardware
And a lot of people who owned a 360 wound up purchasing a PS3 when it got a few exclusives and got cheaper towards the end of the generation, so their brand loyalty shifted
> This is the guy that thought James Bond should go around a hospital at the end of GoldenEye on N64 to shake everyone's hand that he shot throughout the game. He's just so out of touch with western culture, it's tragic.
I think Nintendo should leave the hardware business to be honest. I don't find their games particularly appealing and judging by the sales figures it seems not many other people do either.
For too long they've relied on Mario to get them out of hot water but less and less people seem to care about him anymore. The kids these days are playing Minecraft, not Mario.
Besides, I don't think Nintendo make compelling experiences. I'm the type of consumer that likes a little big of meat on the bones of my games...something to really get my teeth into and there is very little, if any, depth to a Nintendo game.
In a world where Star Citizen and No Man's Sky along with a host of other space shooter exist, Star Fox looks like something a teenager put together during his spare time. They just don't want to spend the type of cash on development thats required in this day and age and I think ultimately that's going to end up hurting them.
whatever dude i really don't care enough to.
to think, DSP is with us right now...
>I don't find their games particularly appealing and judging by the sales figures it seems not many other people do either.
You'd think with the amount of people wanting Nintendo to become 3rd party woulda light some light in your apparently very dark little brain
Maybe a little, but to be honest I had a ton of fun with the Wii U, even if they don't release any more I'd say I got my money's worth and do it again if given the choice to change it
I didn't play everything on that myself and not all of it was on Wii U, but I played and enjoyed everything on there apart from Hyrule Warriors, Kirby, MH3U, NSMBU, NG3, Project Zero, and SMM. I might still play a couple, and between the rest of them I got plenty of fun.
Splatoon did nothing for them. It might be a nice little game but it certainly won't attract the people playing COD, Battlefield, Halo or Counter Strike which are the people they need to reach out to. Nintendo need new IP. Mature IP. IP with tits and nuclear bombs.
>They already do
Think about how embarrassing it is to have a WiiU in your home versus a SNES back in it's inception. After the gamecube flopped they shifted gears to chase after casual money, and before phones became a big it hit worked. You have to be retarded as well as blind to not see this.
>Besides, I don't think Nintendo make compelling experiences. I'm the type of consumer that likes a little big of meat on the bones of my games...something to really get my teeth into and there is very little, if any, depth to a Nintendo game.
Go play Pokemon or the Smash Bros series. Or the Fire Emblem series (well, wait for Fates). There are deeper games than Mario that Nintendo puts out.
No, it was worth it for Bayonetta 2, 3D World, Smash Bros, Kart 8, Wonderful 101 and Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze.
Next year I will get Pokken and Zelda, and this year I got Mario Maker and will get Xenoblade.
I work and rarely buy more than 3 titles per year for the consoles I own.
If the Wii U had a new Wave Race I would consider it one of my favorite consoles ever.
I still havent played Mario Bros U + Luigi U, will get that before the end of the gen.
Meh, I like the games we have currently.
Disappointing that it'll get replaced "soon" but.
My only other concern for the Wii U is it's online, and how I wish that wouldn't die out when it eventually happens.
But if it doesn't? Great.
I got a good amount of playtime out of it, considering how most people are willing to spend several hundred dollars every year for a new iPhone, I think I invested my money well in comparison.
Really most people who make this argument are people who never intended to by the WiiU.
