Beta as fuck.
I've gone back and played BL2 again since getting my Steam Gamepad last month since its one of the big AAA games available on SteamOS. Its a great experience with the new system and really shows off how much better the trackball style control is than an analog stick.
If it wasn't for the novelty though I can see why some people don't like it. The humor can get a bit stale at times and some of the quests feel like a chore. Just seems like with a bit more polish it would have been better.
Maybe you should stop being such a fag??
I liked the first game, I played it with my boyfriend at the time. we got the second game and expected to enjoy that too, but it was all broken promises and cringey shit constantly.
>on disc/day one DLC
>season pass that didn't specify how many DLCs it would cover
>season pass only for 4 DLCs which were outsourced pieces of shit
>gearbox promised the PC port would have a natively working GUI for m+kb
>it's a buggy piece of shit obviously made for consoles just like the previous game
>cool story bro
>so deep and intellectual script
Jesus Christ I hate gearbox.
There really is no reason to play Borderlands 2. Borderlands 1 had way more interesting classes and more than enough content to keep you satisfied through numerous playthroughs.
>Borderlands 1 was actually a good game though.
Ehh. Reaching. Gunplay was pretty uninspired, really tedious fetch/kill quests made up all of the game, and you spent all of the game, except the end, staring at the same dusty, brown wasteland areas with almost zero differences between them.
A relationship of mine was ruined because of these games, that and ALiens is why I will never touch another gearbox product again.
>angry because your taste was made better
Borderlands 1 was pretty fun. Enemy variety was weak, but at least the Skag's basic gimmick of shoot -them-in-the-mouth was ok. Borderlands 2 improved as far as classes and actual gameplay goes, but the enemy variety was still bad and you spent half the game shooting robots.
Still, the games are alright coop. Cant understand the kind of masochist who'd play them alone though. Oh, and OP is a huge bitch.
A friend bought it for me when 3 of them wanted to play, getting me in as the 4th
Loved the game, it was awesome to play with friends (I'm 25, oldest is 28 in the group)
Maybe playing with friends enhanced it, but I actually think it's a great game
/v/ is just like /a/, you can't post something and not get a lot of haters
Hey now...I know Anthony Burch is a kek faggot bitch, but I still enjoy Borderlands 2. I try not to let the political correctness ruin my experience. Well, as long as the experience isn't as shitty as Guild Wars 2, which I had to quit eventually.
I'm an SJW, ignore that for a moment
That writing though ffs, it wasn't even politically correct, they made a little white girl act like a stereotypical sassy black women, how disrespectful is that? "i have a black guy fetish" Burch made TWO main girl characters be damsels in distress, gave Roland ZERO personality, except some 2 sentence shitty backstory and made everyone drool over him (remember race fetish is racist indeed, it's basically just stereotyping and objectifying someone, and no Burch the fact that BM/WF is done by white girls doesn't make it "okay", that'd be sexist)
Every character is over the top, tries way too hard to be hip but falls flat
It's so bad it CONSTANTLY shits on your suspension of disbelief and throws you out of the game
The humor is references and random-humor ONLY, nothing else
Pretty funny in the first 30 second of the game, or if you're 12
Tension is basically non-existent because no is doing anything out of place evil, we're talking about a place where the population eat each other, where Jack is lightweight as fuck, the Vault thing is not explained or well established enough you have no reason to care about it at all, the Angel storyline is crap too since you have no connection with her, game is like "save her waah she's so cute and innocent innit? :3"
The world of the game is uninspired, boring, way to uninteractive, too big for it's own good, and badly designed, navigation is a fucking nightmare, not because it's complex but because it's a clusterfuck
And no the looting part and the random guns are not a good idea, it takes away the joy of finding a good gun, or the interest in seeking out loot, it's all wow i found purple gun that fire in way i hit fuck all point blank that i'm gonna switch to something green in 5 minutes, wow so much fun /s
Borderlands 2, more like "AAA game made by professionals, designed by beginner indie devs.."
>I'm an SJW, ignore that for a moment
Try it, i dare you
You're strong enough, you can do it, i believe in you!!
No. I already read your post. There was no reason to start off with "I'm an SJW" other than to elicit a reaction. It had no relevance to the majority of your points. Literally the same as "im a girl btw :3"
>There was no reason to start off with "I'm an SJW"
Borderlands 2 was supposed to be made "for us", i'm talking here as the "target audience", that's why i found it to be important
Batman tier detective skills
>buy Tales from the Borderlands because it's on sale and I like Telltale interactive movies
>enjoy the fuck out of it
>now feel obligated to play through this shit even though I can't fucking stand that Claptrap faggot
most of this was spent at endgame, away from random loot drops and godawful dialogue
Yeah. I have over 1k hours spread across two Steam accounts and the 360 version, and most of it was spent getting through OP8 on all characters, trying to beat speed runs, and build testing. Nice shoot n loot game for sure that was killed after the Pre-Sequel divided the community.
>Love Borderlands 1
>Love the fact that there's really not much story aside from your set goal that's told to you in the first 5 minutes
>Love that you're allowed to explore so freely

Fuck you Anthony Burch, I'll forever hate you.
>Borderlands 1 was actually a good game though.
Your problem for letting shitty people influence your subjective opinions.
I love Mass Effect. I know that series has some god-awful flaws in it, hell I could post for hours about all the problems in the games. But I still love it a lot and will continue to replay it every once in a blue moon. Being a fan of something doesn't mean you turn a blind eye to all it's faults, it means you acknowledge them and enjoy it anyways.
Nah, you're a fag.
I loved Borderlands 2 no matter what /v/ said about it's the horrible New Game+ and design philosophy that things "grinding is fun!" and "the only way to increase difficulty is by making everything a bullet sponge" in the first Borderlands you could actually find orange weapons without needing to specifically farm a boss for them, and your gun wouldn't become obsolete the second you leveled up twice after finding it.
Overall the first Borderlands is still the better game, 2 managed to entertain me for many many hours before I started to realize the flaws in it though, and I still think it's a great game for your first few playthroughs.
>Play Borderlands 1
>get bored easily
>screw this I've got better stuff on my backlog
>hear it's actually a fantastic game
>feel bad that I could never get into it
>Borderlands 2 comes out
>Pre-Sequel comes out
>feel like I dodged a huge fucking bullet
Bl1 had better guns, combat and loot system, but Gearbox got better at making characters with each iteration.
All of Bl1's skills are fairly tame, and are pretty much all just % increases to stats (some have interesting mechanics like activating after shileds go down, or for 7 seconds after a kill). Plus they seemed scared to let you use your action skill, Mordecia's bird is not worth 28 second cooldown, Rolands turret is definetly not worth 2 minutes. Luckily you could get 1 sec cooldown on Mord with the right build.
Bl2 (and especially DLC and Pre-Sequel) got much more confidant in players ability to understand mechanics and do basic math. Stuff like stacking buffs and cycling damage types, and builds where you hurt yourself for damage.
And people loved it, sure some didnt understand, but instead of scratching thier head and quiting (which is what most devs seem to think will happen if a skill is anything more complex than passive "+ stat") they went on the internet and asked how it worked, then ended up getting it.
Say what you will, but some of the characters were extremly complex and RPG elements, keeping track of 10+ context sensative buffs, as well as elemental weaknesses, critical multipliers and other stats while playing a FPS is really fun.
Its just a shame that when they got confidant in skilltree building they lost the ability to make a good loot system or a engaging, cohesive world.
I want Krieg in Bl1 so bad.
>Torque's character is ruined
Nah I think it was fine.
All the friend zone shit was satirical. A lot of stuff in Pre-Sequel is supposed to be satirical, Australians are just bad at it
They're already gearing up for it, yes. It's being worked on alongside battleborn at the moment. 2k won't be too prone to kill the best series they have that isn't a rockstar title off.

Parts are weird, theres a lot of variations of base types, and each type has some variation possible with stats.
Plus a legendary for each Weapon type for every manufactorer that makes it, and loads of unique quest rewards and boss-drops. Guns can spawn at levels 1-69 (although certain types dont appear until level 15 I beleive).
TL;DR: a shitload
I actually enjoy Borderlands as far as gameplay is concerned. It's a shame the second one is completely unplayable because of the beyond shit tier writing.
It's shocking how good of a time I can with Borderlands until the General Knoxx dlc. All of a sudden, they decided that players should be bothered every 5 second by 'witty' dialogue. Seriously, fuck every single writer on that team.
The combat mechanics need refinement and there's a serious scaling problem but otherwise Borderlands isn't horrible.
They really need to fire whoever wrote Jack tho.
>there's a serious scaling problem
Only in 2, Bl1 had linear scaling and it was pretty much perfect unless you overleveled and one-shotted everything for half the game (numerical differences were tiny between levels, but after 4 levels difference there was a HUGE damage/resist buff to whoever was on top)
Pre-Sequel was still exponential, but a lot less steep than Bl2.
>and it's actually an alright game
It's exactly the same as B2. It wasn't refreshing enough, not novel at all. Even my friend, an absolute Borderlands fanboy, grew tired of it.
The problem isnt that it was exactly like 2, it was that the endgame was garbage compared to 2 and the loot system was "migth as well gibb" teir. Fuck the grinder, fuck the vending machines, and especially fuck that poor excuse for a raid. The botched dlc was the kiss of death for it, and nobody but 2k is to blame for that. They wanted more borderlands money, and did so without any thought as to what made 2 such a long lasting game.
The problem with Borderlands is that the open world was boring.
Know what makes a open world good?
Variation, lots of secret areas/events/items to explore and find, and NPCs doing their daily routines around the map to make the world feel alive.
In Borderlands quest NPCs only exists inside towns, and outside literally everything alive is hostile. Also every area in the games are straigh passages, they are not hard to find and really obvious so theres no exploration, just walk from one point to another.
The main issue with the Borderlands series
>enemies feel like a threat
>even shitty loot drops seem decent
>spend one hour in said area
>all enemies are now a joke because you scaled so quickly past them
>all loot drops are now completely useless
>you still have 4 more hours of content in that area
Not like BL2 was much better
>double turret guy, invisafag, angry dude with 2 pistols and bitch that throws freeze ball
>also starring bitch with floating turret and crazy angry dude 4000
Hello Anthony Burch.
this is the reason why games are getting shit
Maybe you should come back when you grow up and you recognize that while other people may have opinions they in fact really don't matter if you enjoy something everyone else doesn't.
She is a mix of terrible and stupid as fuck and cringey stereotypes, but sassy black women is one of them for sure
The point is still that the writing is just shit
Hope we agree on that
i wouldn't call myself a masochist, alone on bl2, i have probably put in 650 hours. total, i have 720 total. it's pretty fun.
>mfw I always thought borderlands was shit
>I still enjoy all the SFM porn we got out of it
'tleast my dick is satisfied
Too bad for the devs, my dick doesn't go to work and earn money so he won't be paying either
>enjoying Torgue's DLC, reasonable difficulty and loads of crazy fights on TVH mode
>Tiny Tina is introduced as my trainer
>entire DLC soiled and sound muted each time she speaks
Don't let other people's opinion's change yours, OP. It'll make /v/ and just life in general more enjoyable.
Yeah, the game does have HUGE flaws, but for some reason I love the gameplay so much I just overlook that garbage. Plus I put the volume on pretty much the whole game outside sound effects, and put my own music over it, makes the shitty story and writing more bearable.
>I'm an SJW, ignore that for a moment
Nope, but still:
>damsels in distress meme
plot device like many others, used on anyone else as well. I can agree on the rest but the damsel in distress meme needs to go, stop excusing shitty fucking writing for sexism and such.
I just wonder why so many people hate Claptrap.
I mean, he's a robot, he was programmed that way, what was the problem to, i don't know reprograming that little shit?
I felt more sad about him than angered after combining the story from BL1, 2 and presequel.
Maybe it's just me but that i'm quiet resistant to annoyance but you haven't provided why he's annoying.
I mean come the fuck on, they could reprogram him ANY TIME and everyone even in the game gave him shit all the time.
How annoying something is is subjective, it's pointless to argue about that, and the reprogramming thing is just another reason why everyone is saying that the writing of the game is fucking trash
He went from "helpful robot that's annoying because they don't shut up" to "robot that's annoying because we wrote him to be funny but we're bad at writing".
Thank fuck Anthony Burch left Gearbox. I really hope they let the Telltale guys keep telling the story.
>you're not allowed to criticise or dislike something because of shoddy business practices that directly tie into the game and available gameplay
how can you be so retarded? how do you even breathe?
