Reminder that the building server will be open this Saturday and Sunday.
Building server. Mob spawns are disabled. You can join with your single player character and bring items into the server. When joining the server for the first time, execute the following commands in the chat: "/register [password]" and then "/login [password]". Replace [password] with whatever password you want.
Anyways, going to do Ice Block today. I have off! WOO!
I was thinking the same thing. Pity that the block's a biome changer. I hate background snow.
Nah, I haven't done furniture or setpieces at all yet, beyond trees and such. I think the Furniture album is up-to-date, though? Not sure, haven't checked it out myself.
(Also chests would take me a really long time, since I still don't even have half of 'em stockpiled somewhere.)
I think I have choosen the wrong material.
Sic transit mundus!
Anybody got any ideas why the 2nd floor is not a valid housing?
I think it ruined the design a bit.
How the fuck does this count as a valid house?
I remember making Hellevators being easy.
rate my village.
real estate prices are quite high in the western part of the village.
And I also fucked it up a little bit to be honest
>find random server online
>super bored so why not
>the owner is there, he seems like an alright guy
>say i'll join back tomorrow and build some stuff after we talk and kill shit for a while
>join back next day, owner and some other people are there
>suddenly the owner acts like a huge faggot, breaking my shit and changing rules on a whim
>he bans me for doing literally nothing
I was just building my house. I literally did nothing he just felt like banning me. Why is every server i join full of faggots. is every online terraria player this autistic? Does no one have a good server?
>Trying to farm a nazar, last piece I need for the ankh
>Gotten 2 tally counters from cursed skulls but not a single nazar
So i'm going to be playing this for the first time, a couple questions
Normal or Expert, what are the differences?
Best world size to go for?
I never generated any world besides small.
What is the disadvantage of small worlds?
Normal Mode,small world.
>Kill Moon Lord ten times
>3 SDMGs, 4 Lunar Flares, 1 Rainbow Crystal Staff, 1 Last Prism, 1 Celebration
Is coin gun any good? Is it actually useful? Why do people always want to have it so much?
Not to many of them, but heres a single screenshot that displays it pretty well.
Why is 1.3.1 taking so long if it's only wire stuff and snow?
how do I get better at building?
Seriously where's everyone? It feels like I'm the only one in thread.
I made it.
Only 2 water caves and 2 lava pits.
>blogpost about how much we hate medusa
I can get behind that.
She often gets killed before you can reach her. Stay near a big nest and bring a lifeform analyzer so you can check if she has spawned. I think battle potions and water candles increase her spawn rate too.
What can it contain /tg/?
no,It's the bow.
I know that.
Everybody knows that.
Arguably the worst weapon of the game.
At this point,do I just fuck off right to hardmode?
I'm making a mage/ranger hybrid.
Any more usefull spells?
Fecking world generation
>open 2nd chest
>get another bow
it is truly hell.
the time of truth is now!
I won't be fucked over for a 3rd time.
r8 my Hellevator ending station
Lot better,it has that warm, oasis in the sea of cold.
You also made the wise decision to keep the ice basement cold lighted.
If you were to remove that fox suit and replace it with a vase from the dungeon or the underworld,it woild make it look better, but that is just my opinion.
It's not holding it.
That is just the rope I used to get down there.I will fix it tomorrow.
If you ignore the rope part, what is your rating?
Yeah, the wolf man was a little weird.
I didn't have any vases on me so I just stuck an alchemy table there for now.
It has at least one block of ash holding it.
I will fix it tomorrow.
I read pic related and now I want to build an abbey in the desert.
Anybody ever built a big religious site like this?
How do I insert religious symbols?
Any examples, otherwise I will just look at real life abbeys.
Alright so a couple of things.
1. I absolutely love the 2nd house from the left, make more of that.
2. I wouldn't have more than one or two types of chest in a village. I realize it's probably not a permanent thing but something to keep in mind
3. Not so sure where that 1st house from the left fits in this village, maybe tone down the asian a bit somehow
4. Throw some variety into your wood houses. I'm a big fan of Boreal too, but sometimes you need a mix of it with some sort of stone or other foundation.
5. Thicken the walls.
6. And finally, I'm not feeling the last house, maybe try another combination for the roof?
I painted the roof brown,so it looks better now.
Honestly I don't know what went so right with that small house you say you adore.
The asian house is fine in my opinion,I just tried something different.
What do you think is the perfect material for breaking up the monotonity of the walls?
About a month after 1.3 was released I made a playlist for Anons that need help progressing through expert bosses:
Every pre-hardmode boss has one dedicated video and hardmode bosses have one per class, excluding Summoner. There's a short introduction that explains the exact nature of this videos, and you also have available a couple of extra videos about the hardest events.
I also try to deliver reasonable challenges, wich have their own playlist:
There are several challenges done already, so if you have a request, check if it has been done before.
>Survive the Pumpkin Moon as a ranger while "Rules of Nature" plays as the BGM
If you have an idea for a challenge, tell me the bosses involved and the gear, and I'll see what can I do.
How hard is expert mode?
I have been playing since 1.0.2 and honestly they made most bosses piss easy compared to their old glory.
Eye of Cthulhtu lost like 1000hp and 10 damage.
So did skeletron and EoW.
Does expert mode teeth grindingly hard or just fun hard with rewards?
The 2nd house is good because you have a really nice blend of stone bricks and boreal, you've also filled up the space inside without it being too busy. If you could change up the other houses a bit by replicating what you did with the bricks and boreal I think the village would look a lot better.
But there is no easy answer to making walls not look boring. I would put up bookshelves, dressers, bars, paintings, essentially anything to cover up the walls. For places that can't be covered up, try adding columns of marble or borders of pearlwood. It's really a matter of trial and error to see what works best, and I can't tell you what specifically would work.
Kill any boss using a shortsword as your primary means of damage. The harder the better of course.
That means no clorophyte armor, for example, as it would deal way more damage than what you can with a platinum shortsword.
That's a really interesting request. Are there any restricted items or special conditions?
>Does expert mode teeth grindingly hard or just fun hard with rewards?
It's a mix of both. Expert mode doubles enemy damage and increases their health, but it also adds new attacks to some mobs and to several bosses. Basically regular enemies become more tanky, but bosses are a lot of fun. The exclusive rewards range from fucking abysmal to invaluable. I'd recommend trying it if you feel confortable on normal mode, it'll make you learn better the game mechanics and force you to try new stuff in the game.
Anything involving shortswords easily falls into the bullshit challenges that I'm not willing or able to do.
Maybe EoW or BoC can be done this way, I'll check it out and post results, but don't get your hopes too high.
I have a challenge idea!
EoC and skeletron at the same time.
With jungle armor, bee's knees and a waterbolt(freely forged)
Max 380 health
Freely forged and choosen accesories.
Wires and 2 heart statues alowed
What do you think?
Here we go:
Pumpkin Moon vs ranger, no traps or lava to help.
Now that you mention him, it should be relatively easy to kill with a shortsword. I'll still check the other two, though.
If there are no restrictions then I'll skip all the bosses I can to do it faster.
There's a similar video already. It's called "Expert original trio" if I remember correctly.
There's a pre-hardmode Golem kill too, but I've wanted to re-do it for a while so may as well use the Jungle Armor and the Waterbolt. The Star Cannon's firing sound is fucking ear grating.
Make a super large religous symbol and then make rooms dedicated to the different parts like the top of the cross being dedicated to the father, the horizontal part being the holy spirit, and the bottom being the son.
Is modfag seriously kill?
He even had a thread in Terraria forums but can't find it now.
>only three roll bumps
(first two are me)
>people bump with actual content instead
Just what happened to you guys all of a sudden?
From farming plants and fishing.
Large worlds have more resources overall, but they're scattered across larger distances. They can have more floating islands too, and I think pyramids have a slightly bigger chance to get generated. Medium is usually the best option for singleplayer unless you're planning to use the world for building.
I miss the different world gen mods from 1.2, its sad that most everything is abandoned and broken with 1.3. More world gen options would be really nice, vanilla worlds just get stale after a while.
>Also, I just wanted to mention that having 100 times as many traps sounds a lot more fun that it turns out to actually be.
What is this tegaki thing I have under the quick reply box?
So, undertale has been a popular game recently huh?.
I wanted to make a wavebank for it, but I'm not really happy with what I came up with (pic related) so I'm asking if anyone wants to help me out here with suggestions or anything.
Shitty Things #30
>they dont realize this image is nsfw
Since everyone is making towns, it seems like I should make one too. Im thinking western themed. Anyone got a suggestion on what type of material I should use, I was thinking plam painted brown or orange.
Sorry for autism, but why do people post pictures like this?
it's not based on reality, i spent alot of time in forest, and never seen half naked girl like that.
Its true I have seen 11/10 blonde big boobs jogging past, and yes deep down I want to rape or sex, but then I go to jail, jeffrey dahmer did something similiar and there is no future in that.
Oh yeah ontopic, i ecountered weird naked bug
Anyone have any good builds for lighthouses? I can't decide if I should make a realistic one out of stone slabs or a stylized one with white and black/grey stucco. I also don't want it to just be a giant rectangular box, but there's no real way to do a smooth cone slope, either.
Jungle is litellary the best biome in the whole game.
It is always dangerous, constant challenges, but it is also rich in Chrystal Hearts, ores and good weapon materials.
And that music.
It is the best biome!
Jungle is the best biome in the whole game.
Some memes will not make me throw away an original enemy idea.
The challenge is what makes the jungle the best biome in the whole game.
>Things in it
I give you that it's comfy, but it has barely any content besides a few early to mid game weapons and some hard mode bosses, but prove me wrong if I'm mistaken.
How is it now?
I might add a Bathtub made from mahagony to the lower part.
I'm doing a wizard run anyways.
revised it a little bit.
and with a tall gate?
Try getting in now you fucking pricks!
thank God it's not counted as a house!
>and with a tall gate?
It will never not piss me off that enemies can beat down tall gates.
Tall gates are literally a castle portcullis. Fuck you a single zombie can kick it in during a Bloodmoon.
It's minor things like that which stop me from completely adoring Terraria. It's these little things, like a full ice furniture set existing but you can't make ice walls.
It's not like you could pretend that it's unbalanced. It's not "overpowered" to have a door that enemies can't kick in. You can stop them from kicking in a wooden door by placing a single dirt block in front of it. So why can't this massive, resource-intensive reinforced door be immune to it?
We need those modding tools, and we need them badly. A modding API would keep Terraria going practically forever.
>TFW Solid Murasama NEVER
>TFW Solid Murasama vs The Mechanical Trio while playing Rules of Nature in the backround NEVER
>tfw still can't port forward even after reading countless guides and spending hours and hours trying to get it to work
Fuck me. I just want a server to do whatever with people on. Solo terraria is boring as shit after endgame and every server I find online is full of weird faggots.
RIP my fun
Nope, it gets stuck in the connecting screen as if you hadn't port forwarded.
It's not finished yet but it took quite a while to get this far.
Did a few of the things people asked me to do to the house, is it fancy yet?
I don't get it, like what fucking exactly is this supposed to be. It looks unique, however it's repetitive and doesn't make sense.
Tremor adds a ton of shit but it also seems to be pretty buggy. Largely reskins, like late game weapons with reduced stats. Does have hardmode throwing sets though. It's being actively updated.
I'm playing with it right now.
It has some out of place things but, more content is more content.
I turned the thing into a full fledged mine/farming station.
It's here so the thread gets bumped
the truth goes unspoken
I've even forgotten my name!
Small is fine, it has everything you need close by, you don't need to dig forever to get to it.
Medium is fine too if you like building HUEG structures or just like to have more surface width to play with.
Don't even think about large, it's just a whole lot of digging, running, laying tracks to get any damn where. Plus declentamination is a nightmare if you let shit get out of hand. And it easily gets out of hand on large worlds.
I'd bet that 90% of the diggaz telling people to play large worlds haven't even explored 10% of their maps.
Made a somewhat similar one some time ago.
By which I mean mostly boreal wood in a snow biome with staggered floors.
Worm scarf is a bigger boon.
Add spikes and portals and it's 11/10.
Now if only sharks could survive in lava.
I sort of like little self-aware things like that and the fact you get everything important in starbound from "the penguin bay" which is clearly fashioned after tpb, aka the place most people get the game.
Say, If I wanted to make a Jestream Sam cosplay, what would you suggest to equip?
Don't die on me!
I am about to get free time to play the dammed thing!
Any tips for WoF magic kill?
I have almost all the good stuff at my disposal.
Magic missile(fire version)
Book of skulls
The demon book
And the spacegun
The Waterbolt is excellent against WoF, and the Space Gun works well too. The Demon Scythe is quite powerful if you stay close to the boss. The Book of Skulls sucks dick and the Flamelash is slow so I don't recommend using them. The better magic staves are fine, but if you have all the other stuff already don't bother with them.
Remember to prepare the terrain or build a railway, and craft buff potions if you're on expert.
I have most magic stuff.
I just wanted a full collection of strong magic weapons.
Also,is the ctystal book thing still easy to get or is it late hard mode equipment?
I haven't played the game for a year.
The Crystal Storm is even easier to get than before.
>I haven't played the game for a year.
There are new magic weapons that you can get early into hardmode, try looking for mobs that you haven't seen before.
>new magic weapons
I haven't done a wizard run but now the waiting is paying off
>easier than ever to get
I just need the wizzard
And a few coins!
And also some shards.
The crystal storm is the starting point of hardmode magic.
Make a house to unlock some new npcs, farm the souls from both hallowed and whatever evil biome you have. Can make some spells that way from some vendors. I don't know any other early hardmode spells since I normally play melee
I already built the houses.
I will improve them a bit, then post them tomorrow.
I'm out to get the crystal storm currently.
But the worldgen fucked me over.
So I need to search for the undergrpund hallow since I spawned in a snow biome.
Now that Terraira finally came to Mac I've been sharing it with my fiance. Postan our house, which is basically a mashup of two of my favorite houses I've made.
Thanks. It was the primary portion of a house I once made and it only really fit into this design in the basement, which only makes it more cozy really.
Also drew a dumb little picture of our characters.
Yo, that's actually a nice drawing. Good job! I enjoy the style.
Yeah simply make a 8x3 hole with some lava they should be easy to take out that way. Also a good way to farm some items to sell. You'll know what I'm talking about when they drop for the 30th time.
So what's everyone up to right now?
I've grown tied of having to put effort into traveling, so I've decided to put down a cart track while I wait for angler quests
one side down, now for the other
If you have to kill all three the last prism's windup time isn't going to affect it significantly, just aim for the destroyer while it's winding up. Could maybe also try hotbarring the summon items to speed that part up a bit, that's like half your time gone right there.
>The wind up time of the Last Prism makes it unviable.
Maybe if you're not specced for magic. I've killed all three at once with the Last Prism, easy peasy. Just gear for maximum mana and pop a mana regen potion. Bam. You can easily get the beam to full burn and keep it there for a few seconds and your mana regens to full in like half a second when you stop blasting.
And besides that, the Last Prism still does beastly damage during the windup. Each beam still does a ton of damage, and if you get close enough they'll all still hit.
>try hotbarring the summon items
That actually takes longer because the character plays the full use animation.
>aim for the destroyer
I did that and he died instantly, no doubt, but it wasn't enough for the other two before dawn arrived.
I did spec for magic, although not for maximum mana. Rewinding the Prism is not an option, I have about 9 seconds to kill them without discounting the time I spend summoning them.
By the way, the challenge itself is not to kill the trio in that short amount of time, it's >>120957763, but spending the first 10 minutes scratching my balls waiting for the night to come won't make a very interesting video, so tips are very welcome.
purified my ocean and built an arrival station
so this is what is feels like to have cleared a world....
yes i did it manually, thank you
i did leave temple, dungeon, pyramids and sky islands, and one ocean untouched
everything else we mined or (re)placed by me
He uses the same as Golem, I was gonna use the date fight, honestly just because I ran out of ideas.
I wanted to use Dummy! on one of the holiday moons, so I could use Ghost fight on the other, you know, since they're similar.
Little update to the comfy village in the snow I was building last time, any advice?
Okay, okay, last time I bother you guys
