>Xetrill's Modified LuaJIT for CS/CoP - improves performance, especially in script-heavy mods.
I have no doubt that they're able to manipulate humans, as the emissions are evidently on the first phase of brainwashing.
But I'm skeptical that they're taking the raw psychic emissions from noosphere and using it to fry some stalkers brains in just the right way as to make them susceptible to brainwashing.
The Generators level isn't canon, the emissions really are just flooding in straight from the noosphere - I don't see how the CC could actually manipulate it then. But then again how is the CC 'bottling' up the emissions? Dunno, maybe the Generators are canon but were cut because GSC got lazy.
Yeah that's what just occurred to me, it would make sense if the emissions are coming straight from the noosphere - if it's a semi-'natural' phenomenon then it would be possible that it's strong enough to fry some brains but some are resistant, like Scar. The CC might just take advantage of this fact to bolster the ranks of its guardians.
The zone being sentient could be considered in any way canon - which is possible because it's hinted repeatedly in dialogue in all games and inthe original story of CS it was a crucial plot point - then Lebedev was probably correct.
The Zone doesn't want all of these strange stalkers crawling around inside it - especially when you consider it might not being trying to physically protect itself, but because it's a purely psychic entity (after all it was born from a crack in the psychosphere) it's probably reacting, consciously or unconsciously, to rid itself of psychic pollutants.
After all, the zone was created by the CC trying to remove negative traits in humans. Why would The Zone enjoy having its guts infested with them?
Maybe The Zone is just a misunderstood babby trying to find its way in the world but keeps getting psychically shit on by humans.
>The zone being sentient could be considered in any way canon
But that's wrong, anon.
I just told you why.
The C-Consciousness controlled the Zone, it wasn't the Zone who controlled itself.
Did you ever talk with the C-Consciousness agent inside the Monolith Control Room or what?
They control everything, what they can't control is the Noosphere, and the general anomalous events that follow their attempts to control it.
That's how it works.
Lebedev was wrong, the Zone is not sentient, these are just conjectures.
>The C-Consciousness controlled the Zone, it wasn't the Zone who controlled itself.
It's clearly spelled out in the games if you paid attention: The C-Con you saw in SoC was desperate to reverse what it had set in motion, the zone was a byproduct of their wacky soviet science experiments with psychic fields and the Noosphere. The zone and it's anomalies are a totally different thing altogether, think of it like accidentally opening Pandora's box.
No, it is not.
You are clearly mistaking the conjectures of Lebedev\various stalkers with the true, scientific nature and explanation of the Zone that is given to you by the C-C agent itself.
Stalker tales and facts are rather different, anon.
The story of the zone and everything is pretty detailed if you read the rumors, stories and even the novels (in ukrainian and russian, of course), but everything you need is just in the base games.
The C-C tried to tamper with the Noosphere energy with no success, other than provoking the first great emission that spawned the zone and everything else.
After that, their goals were aimed to contain the Zone while still trying to manipulate the Noosphere itself for their goals.
It didn't work, shit was dope, they were just handling something they didn't fully understand.
Yeah except that doesn't make sense. Ignoring everything about the zone being sentient being in STALKER 2 and CS, as well as the generic hints towards it.
When I say the zone and The Zone that's deliberate. The cc says the zone - as in the anomalies, artifacts, mutants and general weird shit - are just a side effect of what the did, caused a crack in the Noosphere. "The underlying problem is far greater than you can imagine." What they mean is the shit that's kicking around the zone, including the emissions, is not actually that bad considering what the CC did - or what they knew they did.
It's not the noosphere that's the problem, everywhere but the zone the noosphere is just fine, it's not like the CC fuckup has enraged the entire noosphere - because the noosphere isn't an entity itself that needs to be contained. The theories that the STALKER noosphere are based off sees the noosphere as being a natural force:
The CC isn't trying to contain the noosphere, it's trying to contain the crack in the noosphere - The Zone.
There's nothing said anywhere at anytime that even suggests the CC was continuing their noosphere manipulation attempts after their fuckup. After all, it seems like an extraordinarily dumb idea to be try to fix a mistake whilst simultaneously and separately performing actions that caused the mistake in the first place - especially if said mistake makes said actions likely to cause or exacerbate the mistake.
The STALKER novels aren't even close to canon, they don't follow the series storyline and they weren't written (though they were allowed) by GSC. The first one even has a second zone being created in Kabul.
why couldnt the devs been thinking of that from the start though? sentient zone that's been developing since the start, contained by the CC, but with it gone, it can actually reach out and "mature", to end up showing itself in stalker2
i know, never ever, i guess it comes down to each person to consider if dev's potential ideas could be canon
Speaking of monolith,
Would you purge with me, /sg/?
shit, i forgot the pic.
>Ignoring everything about the zone being sentient being in STALKER 2 and CS
Literally the SoC ending and the CoP ending.
You don't really want to start this conversation, as /x/ and /fringe/ do not like when this kind of stuff spills out in games and shit.
>The CC isn't trying to contain the noosphere, it's trying to contain the crack in the noosphere - The Zone.
I NEVER fucking said that, dude.
The Brainscorcher, the Miracle Machine, the Generators.
Jeez man, did you even read the Oblivion Lost\Lost Alpha scripts?
>The STALKER novels aren't even close to canon, they don't follow the series storyline and they weren't written (though they were allowed) by GSC. The first one even has a second zone being created in Kabul.
The official novels set in the Zone are just expansion of the main story.
Do you want to continue fighting me over semantics or can you just fucking accept what i said earlier, since it is taken straight from the wiki?
if you're the retard posting those pics, i think you should take your own advice.
Where's the file that hosts all the names the game uses for stalkers?
found it. looks like it's amk_names_lists.script
oh damn son you went and dun it now, this is a long one /sg/
>The Brainscorcher, the Miracle Machine, the Generators.
In each case it's much more likely that these devices were/are operating to achieve a practical goal (generators, controlling the psi emissions; scorcher, preventing access to the zone's centre; miracle machine is a special case, its just still alive). What evidence is there in any way to suggest the CC is using those machines either to manipulate the noosphere or research it? You can't just say the CC was using them for that without any evidence either in the game or from deduction. Yeah the generators are the 'source' of the emission (if they're actually still canon, which we don't fucken know) then that's literally all they're stated to be. It's what the CC uses to safely (almost) release noosphere energy. Like I said, there is nothing anywhere to suggest they're still trying to perform their original experiment again.
>>>The CC isn't trying to contain the noosphere, it's trying to contain the crack in the noosphere - The Zone
>I NEVER fucking said that, dude.
>what they cant control is the noosphere
Yeah wait but why. This is why you think an argument about semantics is dumb, because you lumped all of that noosphere stuff I said into 'some /x/ shit', you fucken mong. The reason I said that was to make it clear that the noosphere crack is NOT THE FUCKING NOOSPHERE. You're pulling stuff from the wiki? Sick shit cuz, read the first quote on the CC page:
You kind of went back on it with the second post, good job - so stuff about why the zone is actually alive:
And you know what else is trippy as fuck bro? In CoP, after the CC was destroyed, something was still communicating with the monolith - as evidenced by their transmitters, and the monolith fighter's PDA literally says the 'monolith' spoke to him.
Degtyarev says that 'something' is talking to them. That's pretty much what started this.
Plus when you consider the original storyline for CS and the original storyline for what was to be STALKER 2 - dunno why you just disregarded that shit lol - that single line is basically prophetic. The zone is talking to the monolith. Why? Dunno. Might be something to do with how strelok knows how to destroy the zone - would make sense considering how keen the monolith (and mutants and zombies, both insensate yet somehow were particularly keen to kill the Mil only after strelok joined them and started to evacuate.
Then there's the mutant/zombie aggression hint at the end of the ecologist questline. Why would insensate mutants and zombies give a shit about preventing people from scan anomalies, how would they even know? There's no CC that could somehow manipulate them. And it's explicitly said that the aggression only occurs when a human tries to somehow understand an anomaly better, not just gather artifacts. Why does this happen? Well to help Ozersky out, it's because the zone is sentient and its trying to protect its secrets.
>saying the lost alpha is relevant to stalker lore and the novels expand on the storyline.
1) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9iJmAEHb3Q. The lost alpha is a connect the dots made from 6 dots and someone drew a unicorn from it. Moot point anyway, if the lost alpha was somehow the original stalker plotline then that's it the original, not the one we have now.
2) gsc actually unendorsed those novels but he's still writing sequels, I wouldn't consider anything the devs don't put their names on to be canon.
yeah well I'm on holiday you fucks
Forgot to mention why i linked the cc stuff:
"we were trying to fix stuff but we fucked up and created the zone, we're trying to contain the zone." Yeah its a bit open ended - 'contain the zone' versus 'destroy it'. But he definitely didn't mention anything about retrying their original experiment. Timeline thus: CC researching all kinds of stuff including noosphere / noosphere related stuff by The Group; The Group built the generators to allow them to perform corrections to the noosphere; The Group fucked up, some became clear sky some joined up and became the CC (http://stalker.wikia.com/wiki/The_Group) - yes so that means Lebedev knew about the CC so it was pretty fucken unlikely he was wrong about the zone being alive. The CC and Clear Sky both dedicate them to containing/removing the zone. Does it involve researching the noosphere? Probs. Are they doing their experiment again? Doubtful.
Again, Lebedev was one of the people responsible for creating the zone, just saying 'he's fucken wrong bud' without any proof is pretty retarded.
Do you really expect me to read all of that shit just to prove that your opinion is right?
posted in the other thread but got no response
im playinc coc+ao3+cocmod and every npc is dropping their faction patches and thats pretty much fucking my economy up
is this supposed to happen?
Sounds like a pretty reasonable thing yeah, takes about 3-5mins.
tl;dr you basically said shit without much to back it up and the zone being sapient answers tons of questions (more than the shit i say below)
ok why, he was a part of the group that created the zone and he knows about the existence of the cc - seems like he knows his shit
>mutants n zeds becoming aggressive when someone tries to scan an anomaly
easiest explanation is the zone is directing them to protect its secrets
>'something' talking to the monolith in CoP
same dealio, who would want to protect the center of the zone now the CC is gone, and has the capacity to talk to the monolith who only reside there? The Zone itself.
I think you should stop posting.
No way i'm going to engage you in an endless "your opinion is wrong" bullshit that will last three generals.
You're free to think\believe what you want, i gave you everything you need to figure things out, you're just pulling shit out of your ass and making stuff up\conjectures about everything.
Neither I, nor the other people in this general care about your ramblings.
You can either shut the fuck up with this nonsense or you can go back to reddit\neogaf\whatever fanfiction community you came from.
And to be honest, judging by your writing skills and how do you refer about stuff and shit, you are probably no older than 16.
Please, go away.
I patched the initial repo two days after I uploaded it. And I linked the patch here knowing that /sg/ would drown me in autist rage.
Plus that at least one anon would say this wasn't a patch because I didn't fix anything.
>uploads update that fixes things
>no you actually didn't fix anything
That was the anon who originally allowed for AO3 to be merged with CoC, I haven't touched it since. To fix it I'll have to remerge AO3 with CoC, so yeah if anyone wants to volunteer that'd be great.
Whatever you say, buddy.
Honestly if you want help with my version of AO3 post it on Moddb or PM me there.
As much as I'd like to I'm not going to lurk for every post here.
Like everyone said to me when I wanted a change or needed help to make one: fuck off do it yourself.
but it will be patched next update.
ok well the way to be proper about it is
"the AO3 mod by E.Nigma that an anon from /sg/ linked me to that was compatible with CoC 1.2.24 (by the way he linked it I assume he was the one who updated it from a version of AO3 compatible with a previous version of CoC, I don't know who ported that one SORRY). But the mod was repoed on Yandex which was paywalled so I reuploaded it to moddb so I can get a bunch of 'plebs' to bugtest it for me. After posting that I reupped it on /sg/ - at which point there was an outpouring in sperg rage - I observed that there was a surge in anons who began playing it too, based upon the increase in posts regarding it. I gathered the bug and issue information that both parties provided and set about fixing these issues so that the port was more enjoyable. Unfortunately I did not know much about modding at this time, hence I repeatedly asked the anons on /sg/ for either a fix for the issues I did not have the expertise in solving (e.g. ones that I couldn't find the answers to on google). Each time the responses were unhelpful. Thankfully there was one based anon (actually credited him in the readme) offered help in solving the UI bug issue. I managed to solve the - admittedly easy issues - of the bm16 spawning, f2000 spawning, izh spawning and the hours it took me to copy paste every value back to vanilla AO. Although I made available the original values in case someone wanted to play with them. Everyone who helped or provided content for the port was credited in the readme.
Right now I'm about to release the second patch which will rebalance the economy, fix some values I missed changing, fix some more icons, add in about a dozen AO3 items which weren't being sold by traders and fixing the svarog detector not being able to detect non-CoP artifacts."
yeah I just find it easier to say my port most times.
I've also made addons that merge in the suit addon and some STCS weapons, should be nice.
post faction songs that arent in the game
They speak exclusively Russian.
They even use Rubles.
GSC consisted of Pro-Russian Ukrainians since they were all born in the USSR
There are .ua subtitles available on the Russian version of the game though.
Righto, well as long as you mark your versions differently if you ever upload them there'll be no worries.
I don't trust the kiddies from moddb or reddit to be able to tell the difference.
Just bought the games on steam (I know I know), about to start SoC.
Before going trough mod hell, what are the basic mods I need to use to get the better experience? I don't want nothing major, just something like bug fixes and stuff like that.
Already changed some stuff like the shadows on widescreen and the head woble.
What should I know about the steam version of the game regarding mods?
I really don't know why we have even have the OP anymore, because god-fucking-damn apparently at least skimming the OP is too fucking hard for people.
Play by release order. Start by patched ShoC and with ZRP installed, then with patched CS and SRP installed, then to patched vanilla CoP. Some mods may require you to downgrade the game's version, read the damn OP for that.
anyone know why i have this?? using coc+ao3.0+latest patch.
anyone else getting this? (see screenshot)
i compared a few files and see no reason why this is happening (Merc - Dead City)
Fuck, how do I get up onto the little rise in the Concrete Bath? Crystal thorn up there but somehow constantly out of reach when jumping like a mad man. Tried going above and walking along the little edge but there's an invisible wall preventing you from going more than 20 or so feet out.
Don't weep over things that do not exist, anon. instead smile about the beautiful things we have such as gunslinger and CoC.
Drank 40 vodka in 1 minute kek
I saw this game on Steam and it kinda caught my attention.
I just dropped Fallout New Vegas after merely 50 hours, without even finishing it, in part because it wasn't post-apocalyptic enough for me (Metro, for instance is the kind of post-apocalypse I like), but mainly because it was utterly unengaging. So how does STALKER compare to the latest Fallout chapters?
It's a decent game, considering most of us Stalkers here put hundreds of hours into them even tho each story takes more or less 20-30
Plot twist much motherfucker.
I don't know what it is but I am having a weird problem when trying to install Absolute Nature and Structures for SoC.
It keeps on giving me some error saying that a certain source file doesn't exist. I've tried extracting the Absolute folders into my steam folder for SoC but that shit's not working.
I've played the first STALKER, skipped the second, and am now thinking of just playing CoP, should I? Also, should I use any mods for my first playthrough? I've heard the Misery mod add a lot of good shit, even for first playthroughs, but a dumb friend of mine told me that, would rather hear it from you guys.
>should I use any mods for my first playthrough?
Sure, why not. Since you didn't play CS you're going to be lost and confused anyway.
I shot this guy right as it saved during the hit on the Shevchenko and he's been stuck like this ever since
>bandit smacks my newly tier three upgraded AK-12 out of my hands
>he grabs it runs off
>I chase him down and shoot him with my pistol
>take back my gun
>its at 50% condition, was fully repaired when I dropped it
I think NPCs have a dice roll when they drop their guns.
I remember trying to play it months ago and there were massive dips in the framerate during the opening cinematic also fucking framerates shits the bed in SoC whenever I set foot in a bush
create a shortcut of the coc launcher exe
right click, properties, on the target section add -dbg at the end

Why do people carry a handgun in Stalker? It just seems so utterly pointless.
assault rifle + shotgun, assault rifle + sniper rifle, battle rifle + machine gun, that sort of thing makes sense. But I can never imagine actually using a handgun.
Because, if you don't have ammo in some of the other weapons, you can use .45 USP in Auto fire if you need it.
Also, you look more Operator.
I always use 3 weapons
-Rifle (AN-94, Ot-14, As Val)
I feel more comfy if a have my meme gun with me. (USP)
>find a jumble of random items in a trader's inventory
>OH SWEET A HARMONICA TIME FOR MAXIMUM COMFY
>Its actually just the vintorez with a bugged icon
If there's a harmonica icon, is there an actualy harmonica in AO?
The As Val is a good weapon for close combats, to fuck exo-suits and sometimes to bone bloodsuckers.
The G3 is more difficult to use in urban areas, but really good in outdoors.
The Ammo for both are the same rare to find, so, is your choice.
6 mags for primary if it's 5.56 or 5.45. 8 if some other caliber
5 pistol mags baseline for secondary, more if it's low capacity like a 1911
i don't carry a shotgun because i'm a hoarder
Say that about the fucking Cats, fucking esponges and too loud, THAT BASTARDS MAKE ME FUCKING HATE CATS.ç
YOU HEARD THAT GSC?! YOU MAKE ME RACIST!!11!
fucken kek, you were the person who commented on the moddb page too?
at least most of the moddb plebs can read the known issues list bruh.
Not an AO problem. The CoC devs ramped up directional hearing: looking at a sound source and facing 180 degrees away from it is the difference between sounding like it's right next to you versus sounding like it's 50 meters away.
I've player the original SoC since it was originally released and when mods came out I typically always used AMK with the Arsenal pack. I've been out of the loop for a while and wanna know if there are any mods similar to AMK including a new arsenal? I could just install AMK+Arsenal but I want to play something I haven't yet. Any suggestion? I've tried Autumn Aurora 2 but it doesn't seem to be my cup of tea.
Thought I had a qt lil zombie coming at me
More cheeki breeki memes plox
Anyone know if they're in the CoC version of OWR?
keep them coming lads, requesting the one with costanza weaing a gas mask. Will post my cheeki constanza.
So I decided to figure out my various stalker archives and found what is apparently an English copy of "Silver Edition". Anyone have any idea as to what it is? Google, Yandex, and DuckDuckGo fail me in the english dept.
Getting back into STALKER with a nice PC.
Any recommended mods for SoC besides Complete? Kinda looking for more content more so than immersion.
Of course there's not a mod with a more 'seamless' mission system, no other mod has modified the actual xray engine to create an entirely new form of giving missions (although one could argue it's just ShoC's system recreated in CoP).
And as for the first one, I don't know how much you've played but the issues are still widespread. Sid's and the Mercs' assassination missions still become unable to be finished half the time - with issues ranging from no target existing, the target disappearing, the target dying prematurely or killing the target but not being able to turn the mission in; the technician's mission can't be finished sometimes if you take both at once, and sometimes you turn in the second box but still have the mission active; the machine yard mission that Sid gives you is completely functional, but about 80% of the time the bandits will get aggroed from defending the machine yard and just spread out in 360 degrees to kill everything - which usually results in them dying from mutants or military; the hostage rescue mission is an interesting one because it seems that the loner hostage is coded as a part of the bandit squad, which results in a merry gang of bandits and a single rookie loner exploring the zone and often all dying - if you do happen to reach them before they get ded then 'freeing' the hostage results in him disappearing and the mission auto-completing. The auto-failing missions which still occurs could be a straight bug or because you're accepting the mission when the conditions are already in a fail state, either way needs to be fixed.
With the 'comparing CoC to every other mod part', I meant it's a fucking dumb comparison because it doesn't reside in the same category as other mods because other mods use the normal method of coding missiond.
in the process of rebalancing economy in AO for CoC.
seems like the original creator went through the trader files while smashing his face on the keyboard
fuck me, he could have just changed the base prices and made it so that each trader has a more specific inventory.
tfw this is going to take me a few hours and life is pain
like for barkeep, all of the mod ammo is set up so the prices are listed as
= 10, 0.x
where is x is 3-6. The way the prices are calculated is the first value multiplied by the second value divided by two = the change to the base price that merchant charges (gsc you fucking autists).
What the fuck anon, you spergy cunt. It doesn't matter a fucking bit if a trader chargers literally 1% of the base price more for one ammo compared to another.
I'm actually amazed someone was autistic enough to go through the 24 trader files and make changes like this for every single item - differing per item and per trader.
Wonder what his internal logic was for this. Regardless sick of AK74s costing ~15-20k and sawn offs being ~5-8k.
>no other mod has modified the actual xray engine to create an entirely new form of giving missions
what are stalkersoup and nardonaya solyanka? kill yourself and kill that essay when you do it
There's an addon floating around that nukes silencer values for everything other than pistols in general, especially for large caliber (supersonic?) weapons.
For pistols the silencers have barely any affect, making them best fer operatin' n goin in all sneeky beeky loik.
were there any leaked patches for CoCk since the whole press F5 delete system 32 thing?
>tfw reported every single kill yourself post in that thread
>tfw it abruptly stopped
>both are shoc mods
that aside they didn't alter the engine to the extent that coc has.
and in both cases their mission systems are a lot better than coc's, so, uh, good point retard
>tfw you're arguing the wrong side
>reading that essay
are you actually dumb? you said that the dynamic tasks are solid, so I listed all of the problems that are still there.
maybe if I put it in dot point you'd read it
Going to Yanov for the first time in Misery.
How did I do for clearing out the first wave of missions in Zaton?
im not even whoever you were replying to im just somebody else so im not saying the shit was worse than coc im just saying its been done so its not impossible to do it with coc and i said its an essay cause you wrote a bunch of bullshit
You can't compare the engine changes done in Stalkersoup to those in CoC as they relate to quests with any degree of reasonableness.
The only thing that you need to know (since apparently you hate reading) is that CoC's quests are made to be the foundation for a system that modders should be able to use to populate the rest of CoC with more quests that are unique and potentially more complex than in CoP.
So it's pointless comparing them because we're evaluating entirely different pros and cons. You could compare the current quests in CoC with those in Stalkersoup, but not compare the systems either use.
Fixed in next patch, taking me awhile because of >>121122247 >>121122880
Yeah but I was annoyed too when I hit up Sakhy boi the first time only to find for some great reason anon made him not sell shit - what the fuck anon.
I actually spent half an hour coming up with a regex that would find any weapon and their values so I could replace them
then right when I started using it I realised that it would match buy values too because they have the exact same syntax
What weapon pack should i install on my Call of Chernobyl 1.2.24?
I'm serious. Use your fucking eyes you dumb cunt. Enemies do make a slight flinch movement when they're shot. If the damage is heavy, they get stunlocked for a second or two. Those movements are not hard to see, and especially not in your tiny monitor.
Now with this being said, kill yourself.
>Enemies make a slight flinch when they're shot
Obviously. I'm not going to be fighting enemies a foot away from me, that shit is impossible to see at mid range. Are you retarded?
>DMM has content
Everything DMM does, CoC does better. Where DMM has shitty static spawns, CoC has a full faction wars system and AI overhaul. Where DMM has the stock unmodified maps, CoCk has retooled levels with unrestricted A-Life.
There's literally no reason to be playing DMM anymore besides being a circlejerking hipster. Go play CoC and learn to mod it, you'd be doing everyone here a favor.
I need one of you shitposters to make a mirror of the CoC repo and maintain it. I'll be going away for a while and won't have much time to lurk this place.
Okay, thanks for volunteering. You start today.
No problem, it'll be a pleasure to replace every file with the original release of CoC.
Why do you treat me like that? I just want to be your friend, Anon. I've never said anything wrong to you.
dont get down bud, happens x10 whenever I post a patch for AO
but actually kill yourself
Someone apparently took the phrase shitposting a tad too seriously.
I'm playing CoP with AO3, I really like all the guns in the game, I haven't even started and I have more AKs than I knew existed
But it also pains me I can't use the guns I like after I find them because lack of ammo or because they are broken, is there any quick way to cheat some money so I can use them? Couldn't find any on google
The guns are pretty much the only reason I'm playing this game
>tfw when russki bro to chill with and drink vodka from bottle at campfire while he plays russian tunes on guitar
Do you have a russki bro /sg/?
>inb4 having a life/friends/being a normie or a combination of these
Just released a new patch that turns the economy into softcore. I'll tune it up later.
Go artifact hunting, you fuck, they're worth fucking tons. Also, you fuck, use spare toolkits to repair guns up to the point that it's cheap to use technicians to repair it.
Rare mutant parts are worth a ton too.
good one fuckhead.
Aw fuck me mate I've been up for 30 hours GET FUCKED.
But nah that's even worse, it's fucking dead easy to get enough money in AO for CoP. Just spam sleep until 5 or so emissions have passed then sprint around an area hitting them all up.
>cheating money in on CoP for any reason other than debugging
nah yeah nah nah you absolute fuckhead
sneaking up on some zombies ( one was sniping me) when the chimera I thought I'd chased off jumps me from behind
empty most of my FAL's mag into it and it keels over, and I'm swarmed by a pack of pseudo-dogs from the bushes
BANG BANG BANG click click STAB STAB
That dealt with, my camera flips out as a bloodsucker tries to suck my brain out the back of my skull. Cue desperate knife fight until it goes invisible and I saturate the entire area with my M60
really glad I bought that exoskeleton now
Why the hate for Misery? I had a pretty good time.
The start can be a bit of a pain, especially with that shitty stamina system (I ended up editing one of the files to dial it down) but once you get some alright gear, it makes for some amazing stalkan experience.
Do any mods for CS/CoP have the Army Outfit (the suit your average Grunt wears, pic related) as a wearable outfit?
I know that there are mods out there that reintroduce the suit for ShoC, but I don't know of any for CS or CoP.
Your stashes are safe in all STALKER games
except for that one ''incident'' in CoP.
If you ever play the AMK mod for ShoC though, your stashes are not so safe anymore.
Commencing Virtuous Mission.
I'm trying to add the Army Outfit that I managed to find from Outfit Mod 1.5 to CoC. The face texture is fucking up for some reason, though. I'm not sure about the reason, could it be the stalker_soldier.ogf file that comes with the aforementioned mod? The Army Outfit is supposed to use that .ogf file, at least that's what the config files said.
Hot off the presses.
Turns out it couldn't find act/act_face_09. Many thanks, mate. That did the trick.
>not warming your guns
Just play Vanilla with the few bug fixing mods. .
>Would you play stalker if shooting was controlled by mouse wheel and it used the scroll speed and acceleration as coefficients for simulating trigger pull?
Only if I have to scroll upwards several times to work a bolt action.
So I checked the files, do I already have 1.0005 installed for some reason?
Why do I already have 1.0005 if I didn't do it myself? Also I can't find the turn off updates thing on steam, pic related
Limansk > Hospital > CNPP
Forest > Jupiter > Zaton > CNPP
Can't recall if Pripyat Plaza is in B.S. range, if not you could go Forest > Jupiter > PP > CNPP. There's really not much at all to do there, but Jupiter, Zaton and Pripyat Outskirts have a fuckton of anomalies.
CoC has nothing without downloading half the repository (except for a couple of nice engine changes and dem maps).
Whereas, despite having a great set of mods that improve it substantially (extended, anyone?), DMM is still a great overhaul *without* needing gigabytes of extra mods.
Just downloaded Absolute Nature and Structures, uhhhhhh how do I open them?
You right click on the archives
You tell 7zip to unpack both of them
You copy the gamedata folders into your CoC install directory
When it asks if you want to merge folders/overwrite files always click yes.
Pretty sure OGSM 1.8 for CS has it, not sure if any CoP mods feature it.
I like the idea of the suit but the model is admittedly rather shitty.
No helmet, bulky life-vest-looking carrier and still has Soviet-era hip pockets.
Actually most stalker suits use Soviet-era gear layout, which is bothersome.
pic related, familiar/modern Ukrainian loadout
yes, then I realized that this https://docs.google.com/document/d/15-o_97gjEQRGO6QhUehY7LdqD3FJy84Pz_sWTTV46as/edit said that the only thing needed was the translation so I decided not to worry about it, it shouldn't effect crashing

I actually use IZArc, but I assumed that anon wasn't a possessive autist and because they're all as good as each other when it comes to unzipping stalker mods so I just chucked a (best) after the first one I thought of.
Yeah because unzipping an archive is pretty simple shit.
It's on the same knowledge level as knowing to run a games .exe inside the folder it was installed in.
So the 'yes' was a 'yes I have one of those installed'.
Right, so go to where the two Absolute mods downloaded
> select one and right click it, a drop down menu will appear
> depending on which utility you installed you'll have to select a different option (oh shit did I just make it too complicated, well tell me which one you installed next time you mong)
> all of them will have a similar one that says 'extract to NAMEOFTHEARCHIVE' or in your case it will be 'extract to Absolute_Nature_for_COC.1'
> click that one
> after a time, you'll find a folder has been created that has the exact same name as the archive
> inside this folder you will find another folder called gamedata
> copy gamedata into the folder CoC was installed in
> when it asks to overwrite or merge files always select yes
And when that finished you're done sonny, enjoy.
like 90% percent sure this is b8
Just downloaded Absolute Nature and Structures, uhhhhhh how do I open them?
For my secondary, around 200 rounds or so, depending on whether I have hydrashock available.
For my primary, however many rounds I can fit after including the other necessities such as medkits and some food.
I try to never carry more than two weapons unless I really need a shotgun, I am sniping, or I am looting (and thereby bringing the extra weapons back to base for sale or repair).
Exo+artifacts for 100kg+ carry weight is the best. You can just carry as much pointless shit around as you want.
Machine gun with hundreds of rounds, literal kilograms of pointless tactical shit on your rifle, dozens of hand grenades; and you never know when you'll want to shoot someone with an RPG.
lmao looks like now there is an autodelete filter for this phrase. I'm not sure how to feel about this. On one hand, no more spam. On the other, we can't even joke about it without triggering that filter.
Artifacts have a 10% chance of spawning at any given anomaly field after an emission. You can usually net a few by waiting a few days in camp and then heading out, but be careful because NPCs hunt for artifacts too.
i actually never post that, even if I think someones a complete fuckball...
i understand if it was all the same person.... but if they make a filter for it? thats some bullshit.
>Artifact in anomaly too gud for my detector
>Finally get a better detector a day later
>Artifact's gone from nearby anomaly field as well
>Artifact gone from building filled with electro anomalies
Who's this asshole swiping everything? As soon as I get a better detector there's nothing to find in the nearby 3 areas.
>tfw one shotting duty scum with this baby in CoC
But where is this hamburglar? I want to rip those artifacts from his lead lined pocket.
probably at his secret lair enjoying some fresh boar burgers. where the fuck are you supposed to get condiments in the zone? $5000 rubles for a bottle of ketchup you fuckin bet your ass it would sell for that
>wanting to waste an unnecessary amount og bullets on killing things
Hi /sg/. I come to you with a solemn plea. What mods, if any, for any of the three games, really crank up the spawn levels to maximum? I only truly feel at home when murdering the Zone's creatures, and I want more of them. More fleshes, more zombies, and yes, more bloodcykas.
CoC w/ Unbalanced A-Life mod or whatever in the repo.
Just be ready. If by "cranked up" you mean platoons of bandits being chased around by 50+ dogs and tushankos, you'll be right at home.
By cranked up I mean I want to feel as though any step outside home base might be my last. I want roving packs of bandits, snorks, military, and whatever else to drain every last bullet I have and send me scurrying home for more.
Thanks for the suggestion, I'll have a look at it.
What is your favorite STALKER mod and why?
I'm going to take a lot of shit for this, but MISERY. Of all of the mods I have played, it has the most satisfying and cohesive atmosphere. Granted, I have not played every mod in those repositories, or even a majority of them. But of the ones I *have* played, it captures what a brutal place I imagine the Zone to be the best. And my immersion I experience while playing is nearly total.
Let me tell you the tale of Aleksandr Galenovich, who passed by the Army Warehouse as Clear Sky yesterday. Playing CoC+CoCMod+STCSWP.
Starting from the Bar entrance, he is greeted by a firefight between Duty and Freedom near the Duty temp camp. He joined the Duty to fight the anarchist, hiding in one of the shacks as a psi storm obliterates both sides.
Then, as the sky gets cleared, a Military squad came up. Then a Pseudogiants pops up to mop up the survivors. Then 1 platoon of Bandits and Mercenaries came from the Trucks Cemetery, which got cut down by another Pseudogiants who then fought Blind Dogs and Snorks. At this point, the poor Clear Sky trooper gets fed up and decided to go to the Red Forest, stashing a bunch of rifles, 2 snipers and 2 RPKs in the Duty camp for a squad of Loners who arrived from the Bar.
Needless to say, it was a hectic journey.
>it captures what a brutal place I imagine the Zone to be the best
>immersion I experience
You mean, the immersion brought on by bandits sporting the latest military hardware headshotting you from 200m? The immersion brought on by looting said bandits and discovering their weapons were little more than piles of rust and that they had about five rounds of ammo total on them?
How about the immersion of "priceless" artifacts not even being worth a magazine of said ammo at best, or the immersion of contracting fatal turbocancer if you have one of the artifacts in your inventory for more than five seconds?
Yes anon, that is exactly the sort of immersion I enjoy. Difficulty. You don't have to like the same mods that I do for our opinions to both be valid, but if you know better than I do, then please suggest a mod which is more immersive.
>mfw can't make screenshots regardless of what I use
So went back and am about to assault the Jupiter bar with a slightly upgraded PKM, SVD with a box of rounds, and RPG with 3 warheads, with a USP Match for backup.
Sound like a good loadout to wipe Stalker scum free from Monolith lands?
>mfw no face
Fucked that up I did.
Exaggerations and hyperbole, all of it.
>bandits sporting the latest military hardware
Most of what everyone has is trash, was trash before they got it, and will be trash after you kill them. If you want good hardware from drops, you have to kill important people, leaders of squads, high-ranking faction members. And bandits will never have anything good in their inventory.
No argument about rusted weapons and no ammo because THAT'S THE POINT you dip.
Who said artifacts were priceless? Good guns and their fuel are even more priceless. Get used to it. No one said the game had to hold your hand.
Biggest exaggeration in your entire post. Even the Altered Wheel (which has enough radiation that no -radiation container can possibly hold it without leakage) can be safely held in hand while you fumble around in your inventory for a box for at least a minute without ticking away more than a bit of health. Radiation health damage scales more slowly in MISERY than in vanilla.
You know how you fix this? Use the cigarettes lying around literally everywhere or, failing that, sprint your ass back to the Skadovsk and ask the doctor to fix your mistake. Who ever said unshielded artifacts were a good idea in the first place? That's just BEGGING for trouble.
>but the doctor costs money REEEEEEEE
So? It's better than slowly dying from radiation poisoning, innit? Next time, be quicker with the box or smoke more. What makes you think that downing a couple shots of vodka or injecting yourself with a magical syringe to affect one of the deadliest known conditions was at all reasonable? It shouldn't be a walk in the Cordon, and I think you know that. You just don't want to admit it, because when the justification for one game mechanic falls apart, so do the rest.
Keep drinking your magical drunkard panacea. As for me, it's time for another hunting trip. The Zone won't kill itself. I wish I couldn't say the same about you.
I don't know, it feels pretty satisfying to me.
