4th for new bricks
Also I miss my Halloween theme
Allow me to reiterate the fact that your mother is bloat
IT'S CALLED INTERIOR DESIGN YOU LITTLE SHIT
Because 1.8 broke everything and Forge is only now catching up
stay on 1.7.10, there is nothing on 1.8 you need
it's because 1.8 is a shit update
the same happened with 1.3, except 1.3 had a better reason and actually brought something good to the table for mods, namely the SSP-SMP merge
>mfw as a toasterfag I've been DISCONNECTED FROM MY OWN INTERNAL SERVER several times before
>playing bug-ridden mess of trash code by retarded sloths who "develop" a game by rolling their faces on a keyboard in-between stuffing m&m's up their asses and playing pool in personal casino without keepinventory or any shitty substitute
>especially when playing modded which stuffs your game with useful tools with recipes more or less reflected in the op-pic
I've learned from my mistakes
I mean, how do you motivate yourself to create when the original game creator took a couple billion and ran off laughing?
Does dinnerbone even get a portion of sales or is the poor fuck on a microsoft dev salary?
>tfw you aren't creative at all
>tfw the most you can create is a box
I made a 1:1 overlay of those new purpur block's pattern, one less reason to use 1.9
Now you don't even have to use 1.8
ayyyyy we architecture now
This one turned out quite sexy.
is this OP image even fucking real. what the shit.
i tried to google it and there's people talking about it like it's a "balancing mechanic" meant to avoid people getting to endgame stuff "too soon" (as in under a hundred hours of gameplay I GUESS)
when he add a lens, but i would not belive that perfectionist kek, since he promised relase when he adds hemp
But actually he will relase it when he finish it, from his words mod is 80 percents minus aethetics.
Alright, so, I have no idea what's causing this. I turn myself slightly to the right, perfect vision. Slightly left again, vision obscured by object. Moving around it seems to appear at random angles, not centered on any particular object. Third person shows there's just, this squid. He just pops up on my head. What even is happening right now.
>ask /r/photoshop how to automate shit
>topic downvoted without a comment
>people think this fucking website is better than literally any other website
These. Plus Treecapitator, added in last night.
People who mod BTW don't care about the mod, they're just looking for a way to attract attention and make a big thing about being victimized. Same with the people who regularly argue against Reika's mod policies when they know he won't budge. Or people who make RF mods for Botania.
No, it's the other extreme. MAWPC is things like dirt2diamonds, things that make the game ridiculously easy. We don't really have a derogatory term for retarded dickstabbing tedious mods, although they honestly deserve one even more.
To clarify, this is not about Beeto's BetterWithMods, but about some furry that made an addon for 1.5.2 FC's BetterThanWolves, and got banned by ManChild for it.
most of the RP2 clone devs are only doing it for money. Project Red's dev is a MASSIVE jew. Blupower's dev is an FTB lacky who made it specifically for them to avoid the legal issues PR has (they stole the code from Immibis)
IC2 classic is fine, the devs don't care that it exists
I didn't even say that.
Red Logic is the only FOSS clone. Blue Power is GPL3 which is invalid for a mod, which means it falls back on unlicensed and only copyright applies. Project Red is a restrictive license where you can give him code but you can't use his code.
Project Red is what stole Red Logic, not Bluepower.
>Blue Power is GPL3 which is invalid for a mod, which means it falls back on unlicensed and only copyright applies
You know shit about law. Please do not make claims on stuff you do not know about.
You tell me how you can jam the GPL onto software which depends on and uses proprietary software, or you're the one who's full of shit.
Case law dictates that an invalid license is the same as a lack of one.
>Unfortunately, due to a misunderstanding, BTW author hated me, and instead of having a reasonable discussion, banned me from BTW community and went as far as to deny all future add-ons to try and stop me from modding BTW.
Ah, yes, the "burn down the forest to spite a squirrel" strategy.
Thing is, at some point, you're going to end up having to look at the code from beyond the surface level.
I don't know, which one would let me tell Slowshit to fuck off and take his shitty keychains with him, while simultaneously keeping it open enough to distribute?
Not really a floodlight, a spotlight would be more accurate.
into the trash
But actually you could do that without it being non-foss, if you trademark it, you could issallow them to distirbute it unless they forked it and changed the name.
It shows that you are not jewish and it's gives the four necessary freedoms for software.
The freedom to run the program as you wish, for any purpose (freedom 0).
The freedom to study how the program works, and adapt it to your needs (freedom 1). Access to the source code is a precondition for this.
The freedom to redistribute copies so you can help your neighbor (freedom 2).
The freedom to improve the program, and release your improvements to the public, so that the whole community benefits (freedom 3). Access to the source code is a precondition for this.
FOSS is about freedom. The GPL is a legal nightmare designed by a lunatic to crush corporations. Let's not confuse the two.
Who said anything about GPL?
It happens to be the best FOSS license (actually that's AGPLv3 but anyways) but I did not say anything about it.
>this kind of comparison
I made a scheme interpreter in 300 lines, but this does not mean it is better than JIT hyper-optimised one that is 5k lines.
The GPL was being talked about earlier, I figured you were part of the conversation.
It's not the best FOSS license because it demands that any software that's used in conjunction with it be relicensed as GPL. That's what they mean when they say a license is "GPL compatible". They don't mean it can be used together, they mean it can be consumed by the GPL as well.
Any license that has so many restrictions that a lawyer is needed to interpret it fully is a bad license.
>It's not the best FOSS license because it demands that any software that's used in conjunction with it be relicensed as GPL
Yes, good. This stops jerks from taking GPL code, putting non-free shit in it and uploading a non-free version.
2: CC0 CAN be used for software
3: Many people use other CC licenses for software.
>comparing cancerous software licenses to murder
Freetard alert. Everyone remain calm.
>Can I apply a Creative Commons license to software?
>We recommend against using Creative Commons licenses for software. Instead, we strongly encourage you to use one of the very good software licenses which are already available. We recommend considering licenses made available by the Free Software Foundation or listed as “open source” by the Open Source Initiative.
please stop being dumb.
If more mods were FOSS we'd see a million forks of the same fucking mods, and the Minecraft community would be just as shit as the Linux community.
I mean look at it now, they still clone mods without having the source.
I wonder how butthurt was the person that made this picture.
>GPL = Propriety = EVILL!!!!
This does not apply for CC0, faggot. And I never said otherwise for the rest CC licenses.
Please, cut off your own head.
The GPL is worse than proprietary software, because you don't need a lawyer to understand what you can and can't do with proprietary software.
>can't come up with an original comment, just changes the one he just saw
You sound like a GPL software developer.
>and the Minecraft community would be just as shit as the Linux community.
Distributions are like modpacks, nothing to do with forks.
>we'd see a million forks of the same fucking mods
Just like Buildcraft, TiC, Botania, Forestry, EnderIO, immibis*, PneumaticCraft, StorageDrawers, Chisel etc?
never seen any forks made without a good reason to exist desu
>because you don't need a lawyer to understand what you can and can't do with proprietary software.
Have you read the microsoft license m8? You do need a lawyer to understand it. At least the FSF has a nice FAQ that answers your questions and you can mail them any time.
Type of license
MIT is foss
GPL is foss
BSD is foss
They do not all do the same thing, for example GPL disallows people to take your source, put non-foss code in it and redistribute it. Unlike MIt.
i remember a few years ago you'd have people who mainly updated other people's mods, not really worrying about copyrights and shit (was that even a thing back then?)
is that time really dead? killed by cursejews?
I can see the problem of where gpl comes in, it should really force the next code to be foss compliant and not specifically gpl licensed. I run foss software but i've used gpl resources before, if i were truly compliant i would have to re-license to gpl, and so on for the next person. I can agree to a point that it's cancerous. I do like the thought that it guarantee's the next code will be kept open preventing selfish works but it is fundamentally against true freedom.
>it should really force the next code to be foss compliant and not specifically gpl licensed
It would be difficult to make a license like this, maybe even impossible. Let's say that the next license is MIT, yet MIT allows you to close it.
But even from the bsd perspective, gpl is still better than non-foss.
>log into shitty cobblecube workhut to start work on my town
Am I being proposed to?
Huh? I don't know what you're talking about.
All I know is that in the last few weeks, some faggot has been going all "FOSS ONLY" and "NO FOSS INTO THE TRASH" on this general.
Well, it can fry the undead if the originating light source is direct sunlight. Other than that, it's more or less a proximity detector if paired with the detector block.
well it's the jar in my multiMC folder, will that be ok?
is that all that defines you? that's... sad
anyway, here's the link:
>the originating light source is direct sunlight
can you chainlink them? does this work if it's a lens focus powered by a lens focus itself powered by sunlight
also, (if it's not already in) maybe you should make a block that can keep the sunlight overnight.
or maybe an upgrade to generate only UV (burns undeads but no visible light) or both UV and normal light
well in theory it's just the forge jar, so either put it in your /multimc/mods/minecraftforge folder and try using multiMC as usual
or you could just throw that in your minecraft jar, maybe?
I don't think I'm going to touch strata. As for everything else, it's more or less going to be a platform that can be added on to. Any "hardcore" modes that can be added through Forge events will probably be added, and four have already.
Probably not. The only way I can think of that happening is through ASM tweaks.
>can you chainlink them? does this work if it's a lens focus powered by a lens focus itself powered by sunlight
Yep, that's exactly how it would work. Also, the detectors will only "see" the light if it originates from a lens straight ahead of it.
does anyone know how to make a pipe network in thaumcraft 4.2 work? im trying to centrifuge things into the 6 primal aspects but i can't figure out how to make the aspects go where i want them to
are there any guides that aren't made by fucking brazilians who cant even pronounce alembic?
witching gadgets has a lot of dupes and other bugs so unless you're fine with that try to avoid it
thaumic tinkerer without kami is ok
thaumic exploration is pretty much a must
thaumic horizons if you wanna play god, pocket dimensions are cool
i mean i've made pipe networks into lamps of fertility where the excess can just go into a void jar, but once i add another centrifuge to the mix it all goes to shit
Wait, does this mean I can't compile Better With Mods until it's back up? Gee, thanks, Lex.
Oh, you're one of those
>pirates everything for no good reason
guys right? In which case I still have to ask why are you giving anyone any money?
Aight so, using MultiMC. Asked the skype group and got no answer, thought I had fixed it but it's still fucked.
Mojang assets not loading, all my other mod packs work, downloaded cozy and just dragged and dropped in MultiMC.
Didn't touch anything, but it doesn't crash or anything just does this and never moves.
Can a nigger get some help?
Didn't the admin say the newest update didn't have the old files? It could be running around in circles trying to figure out what it's missing. If that's the case you could try finding the older versions then adding the new update to it to fix that.
lex needs forge to be always online because he fucks it up so much he needs to be able to fix it a lot. he probably also uses it to shovel malware to IPs he gets from banning them in his chat.
- Good and pleasant person that I wish was my gf.

I'm everything you hate
you piece of living garbage
Mix wheat and Barley to make mixed grain flour that when cooked, gives you resistance or something for a minute. That way Barley has a use other than a carbon copy of wheat. Ability to make berry Jam, which you combine with bread or toastto make a sandwich fully restore 10 shanks of hunger.
THANKS LEX YOU FAT FUCK
No problem. Also Natura Woods need a use, incense or something?
I have no idea how Unity's licensing works, but you could try seeing if you can't use their wood textures in your fork. Default Natura looks like ass holy shit mDiyo what were you doing.
>witching gadgets has a lot of dupes and other bugs
Does it really? Other than that nuggest transmutation problem I've never noticed any problem.
>thaumic exploration is pretty much a must
All it adds is an endless water source and two wand cores that are ridiculously good, I'm not too fond of it.
>forbidden magic is a piece of shit
What's wrong with it as well? It adds a few nice items and provides nice integration with >Botania and Blood Magic.
Other than everything else that already got mentioned in here there's Thaumic Bases as well, it has a ton of content and expands a bit on TC's alchemy.
Some anon posted this a while ago, it might be able to get you started at least.
>have retarded idea for a server mail system using Thaum mirrors and BC pipes
>it actually works
Well I didn't see this coming.
Put shit in top chest, it's piped to a Dispenser which spits it into the mirror.
Put shit into the mirror at the other end, it's spat out into a Hungry Chest (the dark one) and piped into the lower chest.
>finagle enough with photoshop automation that I can make 20 different tiles with one button
The funny thing is, it's shockingly inexpensive, just kind of a pain to set up. The only thing with a real resource drain are the Mirrors, which take a glass pane, a Quicksilver (made from a common ore), 3 gold, and an Ender Pearl.
Everything else is mostly glass, wood, cobble, and some redstone here and there for power.
Pssshhh, week maybe? I'll probably be done all 210(20 blocks each! 4200 tiles!) combinations by late tonight but I might decide I wanna make some more patterns. Plus it all has to be worked into the mod.
don't take the textures and say you made them
>want to build things
>don't want to play survivial because of shitty grind
>don't want to play creative because anything I make will be worthless
I haven't gone out of the way to make anything incompatible, if that's what you're asking, but the main thing I went out of my way to make compatible was whitelisting Natura's tainted dirt and heatsand so mobs could spawn on it with "prevent Nether spawns on non-Nether materials" enabled.
"You can use and change this as long as you give the source you make out of it to people you distribute to under the same license"
> impossible lawyerspeak
> kill civilization now
I haven't bothered to keep a list.
>tfw someone showed me a crash log that says I missed a few things in the refactor
It's unofficial, one of the server guys asked if I could release what I had and I told him I would when I could get everything so far accessible. Then I made a few other things, because why not.
Alright, this version SHOULD have any leftover dependencies cleaned up. It also doesn't have that dependencies.info file in it.
>now the mill stone crashes shit for no reason
HOW? FUCKING HOW? IT WORKS IN THE TEST ENVIRONMENT, IT SHOULDN'T BE PULLING THIS BULLSHIT!
IT SEEMED IMPOSSIBLE BUT I FUCKIN DID IT
I've made a combination tileset for every stone in TFC, there's several varieties of tiles and every possible combination of each stone in said tiles.
I'm trying to generate a montage, gimme a sec
Okay, now that there's a few additional checks for Ore Dictionary entries, it SHOULD be good to go. No more crashing when placing a mill stone.
Slightly more coherent, took out the 32x connected textures.
It automatically sorts liquid essentia into rows of essentia reservoirs. Reservoirs are basically warded jars that hold 256 essentia, but cannot be moved without difficulty. The setup in that picture lets you easily store up to 576 of each type of essentia.
It takes fucking forever to make all of the tubes, buffers and reservoirs, but it's sooooo worth it. Don't even attempt it until you have a decent energized node.
So I placed Thaumic Exploration in and now minecraft doesn't load. Without it everything works fine, so does tx not work or did I just get a shit version?
Bloat? Bloat is shit that clogs up your worldgen like Natura, all the textures I'm making are for blocks that already exist in TFC, you don't encounter any of them, you have to craft/chisel them.
let's see, i've got andesite, diorite, granite, marble (from chisel), limestone (from magneticraft, thinker's steelworks, BoP and chisel) and... that's pretty much it?
i could probably also tie your chalk to HMaG's block of bonemeal, quartzite to vanilla quartz, and stuff like that
that should be more than enough, no? i'm fine with using your/TFC textures, really
>limestone (from magneticraft, thinker's steelworks, BoP and chisel)
HOLY FUCK DISABLE LIMESTONE FROM ALL BUT ONE OF THOSE MODS
it's so fucking ugly too, why do so many mods insist on adding it
i disabled the woldgen for all of these except magneticraft (and bop, but you can't help that and it's probably in its own biome or not implemented)
but i still left all the variants avaiable in chisel
is this a good resource for determining how good of a computer i need to build if i'm building it so my nephew can play minecraft?
can any kind anon explain thaumcraft 5 to me? I played TC4, and when I'd scan objects I'd get a nice bunch of aspects for research. Now all I have are some primal aspects for each research, and thaumometer only provides "clues". What do clues do, and am I doing something wrong?
Now Fellow anon.
Archimedes ships is bitchin.
trainserb updated to version 3. added enderstorage, and now the client
finallymatches the server's configs. No I did not fix the ice lake problem yet, I need to know the coordinates before I try to figure out where in 40+ region files I need to look.
Where is the annotation that you stopped buildcrafting? Or you changed opinion?
And how to make eclipse work with individual projects? Not with the forge development environment itself. Say I download TiC and want eclipse to modify it. Right now I make my changes manually with kate without a dev environment.
What annotation? The one I was supposed to post is currently in flux as I don't think it's something worth bragging about. Also, the server doesn't have BuildCraft on it.
Don't know, I use IDEA
It is, but let's just say it's a server I'm running for nostalgia over that part of my past 4chan absolutely hates.
The fandom dynamics differ from country to country, however - and nostalgia can't be defeated.
Yes. I tried running two anime-themed servers in Poland and came to the conclusion the Polish anime fandom is not just slightly, but multiple times worse. It's as if the fandoms swapped places over here.
It was fun experimenting with some concepts, though (and it will be fun testing a few more), and I finally have a good idea of what kind of pack I want - it's vanilla+ with a sprinkle of tech. It lacks good pipes (using Hopper Ducts ATM), but my pipe concept, when I get around to coding it, will fill that in. (I was considering giving a pony-less version to Brad to host, or something).
>and came to the conclusion the Polish anime fandom is not just slightly, but multiple times worse
Like? They watch Naruto or something? This is what all my Polish friends are obsessed about.
Most of the internet-based fandom is either Naruto/Bleach or the yaoi girls, from what I'd seen. Generally, there's not a big enough following of iyashikei/SoL stuff for me to care.
Anyway, here's a list of mods in the pack with the server-specific ones convienently cut out.
I had the idea of forking Tubes! And creating a simple, not inventory oriented (it just follows the pipes) version of it. Probably also by adding gate support as a block.
My goal was to achieve a similar "dumb"-style system to BC, but with some additional constraints:
* Use the least "objects" possible (note: no upgrades, no complex GUIs - in fact, no GUIs at all) while providing at least the feature set of BuildCraft sans gates,
* Try to fix BuildCraft's most glaring flaws,
* Possibly look into carefully adapting some ideas from modern pipe mods. I believe I adapted one of the more enjoyed ones.
I have a concept and I'll try to get around to coding it soon - on stream, too. Maybe I'll start today, even!
You might like what I'm going to make, then.
First time I see this, woah.
I have some bugs to report to immibis but I could never find him in the IRC sadly, does he use another name or something?
NOTE: "No GUIs" was not a goal, it's just a convienent side effect. "No complex GUIs" (so I mean things like having 20 buttons and 40 slots for a filter in a pipe) was the goal. Didn't make that clear enough.
He's very busy with uni. Here's a personal fork, go report bugs here: https://github.com/asiekierka/RedLogic-asie
It's immibis's take at Chisel: it dynamically generates brick/tile/etc. variants of vanilla blocks. RailCraft support is in in the next version, but it's not out yet.
CyanideX once told me he'd like to work with me on a lightweight decorative block mod, but he doesn't have enough time anymore.
>entities still phase through eachother like they're made of air
the jews etc
Hey /mcg/. I just set up a really basic, vanilla Minecraft server for me and some friends to play on.
I want users to have access to a minimap ingame. Can I make it so my server has a minimap for all users? Or would users always have to install the minimap mod themselves, manually?
Hey guys, has anyone gotten Optifine and Forge to play nice in 1.8? I can get one working with their respective installers but not both.
I've tried 1.8.1, 1.8.4, 1.8.7, and 1.8.8 optifine jars with forge versions 1.8-184.108.40.2063(latest) and 1.8-220.127.116.110(stable?). Any clues would be appreciated. Here's the output of using the latest of each:
I don't play 1.8, but I had no problems getting it to work in 30 seconds in multimc
pick the proper mc (1.8.0), pick the proper optifine (HD U D5 is the last one for 1.8) and the proper forge (1486 is listed as compatible in the OF changelog for D5)
but what the fuck is wrong with the mobs in 1.8, really..
the cows just kinda floats up when you hit them, and the slimes are slowed down in the air when they're jumping
it's like gravity took a break
I would but then this happens(specifically for 1.8 versions). Not sure how recent this problem is, but according to MMC it's the only way to install forge versions on it.
thanks, I found PhysicsFix (not that I am planning on playing 1.8..)
I love how they manage to regress the game every new version
A* pathing mobs that are more boring than the brainless mobs they replaced, baby zombies that don't burn and ride chickens (you can smell the reddit from that).
zombies that ignore spawn conditions and pop into existance when other zombies get hit, gatling skeletons, witches that spawn everywhere (so much for swamps with their witch hutches..)
sucks even more that the principal mod for reversing many of these changes is made by reika
If it's the same one, I got too busy and had to put it on hold. I've been thinking of coming back to it though.
How could I suck up the items that's dropped by the mobs? Build craft obsidian pipes doesn't suck up from a distance anymore. Neither dose Minefactory item collectors.
So let's say I want to use a daylight sensor to turn my floodlights on at night in immersive engineering.
How can I do that without wiring every floodlight up with redstone? The breaker switch outputs a redstone signal, but it doesn't receive one. The capacitors aren't affected either.
Really I just want to turn the power off, but there doesn't seem to be a way to do so.
>Build craft obsidian pipes doesn't suck up from a distance anymore.
I think you need to power them with a redstone engine for that. Unless you've already tried that and I'm a retard.
I think it started out as a joke, but it ended up being a sort of taint thing, taking over your world. But unlike taint there would be beneficial things you could do with it.
Ehh... I don't really see how this is supposed to work?
hoppers will only pick up items dropped directly on top of them.
BC obsidian pipes are supposed to 'vacuum' items within a cone in front of them.
Vid related: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GpiIQmsCpyg
the suck-in radius of the obsidian pipe used to be dependant on the engine strength.
>Will a hopper suck up items from a block besides it?
no. it can only pick up items in the blockspace above it.
also means a hopper covered with a half-slab will still work.
