That's where the project was announced and took place earlier this year. Not very helpful. And yeah, I look objectively at critcism. Can't set a date for the completion of the patch. Several hundred UI elements still have to be remade from scratch, and most of the menu related scripts have to be redone in order to make horizontal menus a reality.
These scripts could in theory be copied and pasted into Muramasa to save hours of groundwork, given that it ever gets a project going.
>muh high school slice of life comedy
So I just installed Majikoi S and ran the patch + crack. Everything works fine, but whenever I try to load a save, the game crashes and it makes me have to run the crack again to play.
Anyone else had this problem?
Thanks anon for all that you're doing.
Threadly reminder there's wrappers to be reverse engineered, TEST ALs to be detoured, and PRNG implementations to be NOPed while doing in-memory patching of EXEs with TLS in ollydbg
Really though, I enjoyed a lot of playing School Days, like a trainwreck in slow motion. I just can't get into Muv Luv because the beginning is just so fucking bloated with slice of life bullshit, and it's all so uninteresting. I don't really feel like I'm playing the game either because I didn't run into a single choice in the 3 or so hours i played of it. I just don't get it.
So what should I translate this 2ch slangy insult (ぷげら) as? Give me your best memes.
So uh, the Muv-Luv official translation kickstarter is 15 hours from ending. I completely forgot about it until now.
Throw $60 at it or not? I'm sure that I remember reading a long time ago that the fan translation isn't actually 100% done, so an official work with some of those translators doing it (am I understanding this right?) would be nice to have.
I read the fan translation many years ago, it included some file for a translates movie speech at the most. Why would you throw money at it? Cheap grab for cash or a big push for VN translations in the west?
That's dis-heartening. Was tempted to give KnS another try since KnS 2 is out and may have been good. I was just genuinely asshurt and let down by KnS. Everything but the story and endings was good.
>it included some file for a translates movie speech at the most.
What do you mean by that? Are you talking about machine translations for the cutscenes?
Not new to it but not exactly immersed in it either. Just never got the chance to actually get started with it, so if the official translation plus new content and OS compatibility comes in as early as they say, then it sounds like a good way to pick it up.
I dunno man, is the series worse than everyone makes it out to be or something? I do like giant robutts if that helps.
What are you on about? If the story in a VN like KnS blows, why the fuck would you read it? I'm not sure if you misread or I mistyped, anon.
I wanted KnS to be good. Trust me, I tried. Really tried. More-so since (as I said) everything BUT the story was good. Good music, good GUI, good characters (mostly, I remember a couple being useless) I remember getting more frustrated at the end of each ending. Most of which are very samey
Oh look you died again haha. btw no explanation deal with it.
It's really only the $80 one that's worth getting for the physical, and it comes with digital. Vita in my case.
Supposedly they'll be changing the existing fan translation, but we don't really know for sure.
Muv Luv is pretty good, it's #1 on vndb and around #3 on EGS. Overrated but still well worth reading. People here will tell you to just pirate everything though.
>sibling love edition
hahaha what a great day to come to /vn/
So is Yosuga no Sora or Haruka no Sora fully or at least partially finished yet? I checked the pastebin but I just want to be sure there's no download floating around somewhere that I'm missing, if I'm correct Yosuga is nearly complete while Haruka hasn't even been started yet
One more thing; is PSV capable of playing virtual novels on an emulator or am I going to have to go to the general and ask?
Question for some one who has played very little visual novels, I had tsukihime a long time ago but lost it. I always wanted to finish it but that start is such a crawl and I would rather not go through it if I can. I guess my question is where you can download specific save files?
They'll be releasing a "director's cut" patch on PC later. KS doesn't allow 18+ stuff.
H-scenes in Muv-Luv weren't really that worth it anyway. It was just one at the end of each route in Extra and Unlimited and MLA had even less (although one is actually a bit important there)
D-does that mean I can't see Mongol nips?
What's the point of getting older if people keep dragging things down for kids? I had to wait, they can fucking wait too or better yet, buy with their parent(s)' credit card online like most already do.
Virtually all VNs that go through Steam (or any non-H distributor really) will have an "unofficial" patch to restore all the content. Technically a pretty good solution since it gets more mainstream exposure without removing content. It is almost in the same boat as lewd TES mods.
For Nekopara, Grisaia, Princess Evangile, IMMHW, you have to drop the entire 18+ version on top of the Steam install. It's not a "patch"
You'll also be seeing localizations that won't translate the 18+ content at all, leaving it up to fans to do it.
Aoi is rather adorable when she's actually looking at you.
So friends, other than Yosuga no Sora, is there a VN where the MC takes his
Blood RelatedSister or Mother to pound town, and has to deal with the major consequences of said action. Obviously, I'm not talking about times where the people around the MC go "Welp, just make sure you take responsibility" or their Mom is like "Welp, enjoy fucking the hole you came from", pretty much like all of the Hara series by Swaneye.
Bonus points for the VN that actually has impregnation of your family.
This is actually why I'm bringing it up. I've finished KnS 2, and was interested in heart wrenching incest stories. YnS saddened the fuck out of me, and I want to try and find those same feelings again.
If it's Mother or Sister fucking, with some semblance of reality and regret, that's what I want.
A mother&son romance with a more realistic take would be great, but I really don't want there to be any tragedy involved. Realism is good as long as it doesn't put a damper on the enjoyment, which would be the case if you try to portray the most likely outcome of such a relationship. YnS was great as it didn't cross over into being depressing while still having the touch of seriousness that made it so memorable.
I think it was always just a meme. Maybe back when the anime first started airing and people got paranoid about a bunch of new guys from /a/ coming in or something, but it would have been short lived and the meme existed before then anyway
New stretch goal, if it hits $1.2mil, they'll bring the characters to life
Same. At least you got something out of that post, senpai.
Wanko x Inu x Loli
How is Caucasus ?
It's made by innocent grey too, but it's untranslated.
Clearly Katawa shoujo.
That's it, I give up this VN.
It was really a good starting, the story got me interested, I haven't even gone past the train scene that I'm already sick of reading those tiny boxes.
I can't play on a 800x600 resolution, this shit is impossible.
Is that the one where you can actually save the heroine that you want?
At least the font is big and readable unlike Kara no Shoujo.
Just turn down your desktop resolution. I've been using 1366x768 on my 1080p laptop mainly to play 800x600 VNs comfortably.
Kazuna a cute! I like how she brightened up the atmosphere of Cartagra. And I feel a little bad for the people who read KnS before Cartagra since it makes her scenes in KnS have a lot more impact if you knew who she was other than some character that barely shows up.
You mean.. that milf is the Kazuna from cartagra?
Oh wow, I didn't guess first because of the difference in the first names.
>decide to get some stuff off that old forgotten-but-translated VN list
>can't fucking find it ANYWHERE, only download reults seem to be some sort of russian release
It's not on nyaa, mofu, or erogedownload as far as I can find, can anyone help?
There's only at most 3-5 years between Cartagra and KnS
She's like a young teenager with small breasts in Cartagra and she's late teens in KnS.
I think the time gap is only 6 years between the two vns. She pretty young in Cartagra so it's not like she's gonna have a drastic change in looks.
But I think if you look close you can definitely see that she looks a bit more mature in KnS than she did in Cartagra.
This gimmick turned out to be useful after all.
Something I'm not quite sure I follow in Cartagra.
Kazuna delivers some pictures of her sister, but all it is, is some obscure shot of her with bandages around her eyes.
Then he gives it to Rin and ask her to find out something about that girl?
This makes no sense, like who would ever show this picture to people and ask if they've seen her?
How do you know that there are precisely 2015 people?
Did you double check at least?
Are the sex scenes in Altered Fable any good?
Oh wow seriously ? How can a company be so incompetent? I still cannot understand how they are still alive. I hope that the breach of contract with Visual Art will destroy them.
90% of the visual novels going put in Japan are either basically a porn game (what they call nukige) or a slice of life (with the occasional sex scene) without plot focusing only on cute heroines doing cute things with a touch of drama at the end (what they call moege). There are even outstanding gems among them, but by nature 90% of them are fairly bad.
So 90% of 90% of the VNs in Japan are probably mindless games without plot and lost of questionable scenes with girls that may or may not look older than 14.
Well, manga have much lower production costs than VNs, and there's a ton of variety out there if you include H mangas.
Anime, I wouldn't say so since they're more work to produce and so it has to appeal to some audience.
You're a very very smart person!
Based Manyo. I don't think that InnoGrey titles would be so immersive and fascinating without his music.
My favorite composition of this genius is the main theme of Cartagra : Lamentation which is a superb representation of winter and feelings that go with it.
do you mean 90% of the 10% good games?
because 90% of 90% nukige means that 81% of vns are trash, 9% are nukige worth playing, and 10% are other genres that may or may not be worth playing
I'm not really into yuri but i heard that the plot is interesting and the SOL comfy so why not ?
And the chara-design of Sugina Miki is beautiful so it's worth to read it just for that.
>90% of 90% aren't worth reading. So 1% = 180 titles.
"90% of 90%" is 81%.
Speaking about Innocent Grey.
What are the chances of seeing KnS 3 or Caucasus translated after the failure of KnS 2 ?
SP is deleting politely written threads on the Steam forums for talking about it
SP is such a goddamn scammy company, it's incredible they're still in the business. I don't even give a fuck about localizations but how are people still trusting them enough to give them money? Baffling desu
I'll go ahead and interpret the need for them to collect themselves before making an official announcement as a sign that they know they've been caught scamming. If they had a simple and legit justification they'd have posted it right away.
See I don't get Sekai Project. They could easily just explain the situation. The re-release has much higher res art, an increase from 800x600 to 1280x720, but some CGs are cropped for the new aspect ratio, a decision made by the original developer. There, end of story, users can make their own decisions based on that.
But instead they delete all discussions, ban users from posting that talk about it, and put a catch all statement saying "we aren't going to talk about this, doing so will get you banned". How do you fuck this up so much? It shouldn't even be an issue.
Yep. Sekai Project is getting worse and worse with every release. They're honestly disgusting, but what bothers me most is that, now that this dickhead company has licensed all these games, they won't ever be released by a different, better company.
There's a reason why even the fans consider first two games shit. And there's a reason why the third one is widely appreciated. In lenght it's much longer than the first two, so you literally have played less than half (if even that) from the series.
Your loss I guess.
Alternative has a completely different tone than Unlimited though. Nothing bad happens in Unlimited and it's just world building exposition. Alternative is good at conveying the traumas of fighting the BETAs and has a good character arc for the protagonist.
Unlimited is still far from Alternative. It's important considering the world-building, but for a person that's drawn in to series (and I'd expect quite many) by a mech-part it has less substance and more slice of life-elements. It's much closer to Extra than Alternative.
I liked the ending though, considerably more than the one in Alternative.
>Th-they're both shit b-but I swear the last game is great!!
How does it feel to be so deafened by shit that mediocrity is suddenly god tier?
>"I didn't like something so no one else can!"
And if you'd actually played the games and weren't literally blind you'd most likely noticed huge differences in story contents and overall tone. The games are so far from each other on every aspect that it's not strange to make a clear distinction on others being shit and the last one good. But of course you couldn't pick any of this up.
I am actually legally blind, but Muv Luv was shit when I could see, I doubt it'd be any different now.
Only question I'm still wondering is why you played trough 100+ hours of something you consider shit. Being this smart a guy, I have hard time believing any of your opinions are of value.
The two games you saw were shit to you, but you did not see the third, and extrapolating the first two to the third is an obvious mistake you recognize but ignore for the sake of trolling.
>He didn't even read Alternative
>Still tries to evaluate the series
I played through extra and unlimited expecting a great payoff in alternative. However it had the same shitty pacing issues and cliche storyline of hero man saves the world with some forced heartache for characters that were barely introduced. The ending was rushed and I felt nothing at the end. Stupid visual novel can't believe it's the highest rated. Pic related
Nitro+ has a lot of great titles with excellent pacing and themes.
It's overrated for sure, which you could say for practically anything highly rated and popular, but I wouldn't call it a bad VN. Maybe a good description is "worst of the kamiges"
I don't know what that picture is trying to prove. User in question even gave one of the games 6 which doesn't scream obnoxious fanboy to me. Not to mention using fanbase as an attack towards the work is probably the shittiest argument you can make.
Yeah I honestly wish I stupid enough to enjoy most mainstream entertainment things but most of it bores me. It would be great to be easily pleased.
Subahibi really captured my heart, can't wait for the final release so I can finish it.
I wouldn't say it was bad either, it's just when it's the highest rated VN on vndb I expected something that did something new or interesting. I've seen better writing in college creative writing classes
If you hated MLA you NEED to read Divi-Dead.
I know right? Why would I read chinese porn slide shows when there's Italo Calvino, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Mark Twain, Virginia Woolf, James Joyce, Raymond Chandler, Marcel Proust, Dorothy Allison, Jean-Luc Fabre, Victor Hugo, Gustav Flaubert, Vladimir Nabokov, Alfred Bester, Douglas Adams, Graham Greene, Lewis Carroll, Herman Melville, Roland Barthes, Roald Dahl, EB White, Oscar Wilde, Samuel Beckett, David Hume, Ted Chiang, Voltaire, Soren Kirkeegard, William Shakespeare, Kurt Vonnegut, Edith Wharton, Andy Weir, St. Augustine of Hippo, Patricia Highsmith, Harper Lee, Truman Capote, Frank Herbert, Joseph Heller, Fyodor Doestovsky, Nikolai Gogol, Sylvia Plath, Emily Dickinson, Maurice Sendak, T.H. White, E.M. Forster, Albert Camus, Ray Bradbury, Philip K. Dick, Stuart Dybek, Shirley Jackson, David Foster Wallace, Paul Torday, John Fowles, David Mitchell, Umberto Eco, Robert A. Heinlein, Henrik Ibsen, Ron Hansen, Ken Kesey, George Orwell, Jonathan Swift, Edward Said, Elie Wiesel, Jane Austen, Charlotte Bronte, Emily Bronte, H.P. Lovecraft, Christina Rossetti, John Steinbeck, Joseph Conrad, Washington Irving, Brian Doyle, Charles Dickens, William Faulkner, Stephen Pinker, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Ludwig Wittgenstein, CS Lewis, HG Wells, Thomas Hardy, Alice Walker, Aldous Huxley, Anthony Burgess, JD Salinger, Edgar Allen Poe, Mary Shelley, Connie Willis, Bruce Sterling, John Irving, Arthur Miller, Eowyn Ivey, Max Weber, Dennis Lehane, Larry McMurtry, Sara Gruen, Cormac McCarthy, Jack Kerouac and Levi-Strauss?
I'm too smart and sophitsicated to waste my intellect on something so trivial and devoid of literary merit as VNs.
>Spend multiple posts bashing the series and fanbase
>"I wouldn't say it's bad"
>Tries to give an impression of intellectual
Bwhahaha get out of here
Or better yet, embarrass yourself further
Yeah it's worse
Why would I not be 100% honest in an anonymous forum? If you think I'm trying to impress people I don't care about you're retarded. I just expected something interesting, not an escapist grind, to be the #1 visual novel on VNDB
I actually believe you are very hard trying to impress people. Saying you "want something interesting" you're well aware of how replying to previous post does not lead to a worthwhile conversation. I cannot come up with any other reason for your quick response than an attempt to impress people with your e-dick.
Also I kind of want to express my condolences if you're consuming chinese porn-games and expecting literary masterpieces.
Yeah I thought it was pretty cool. I liked the character progression of the otaku.
The true ending felt like a bit of a cop out so that the reader could feel better, but otherwise it was a nice ride.
I agree, it's pretty clear the composition was made neutral end in mind: it was much more dramatic and not as much a let down. Only thing I really disliked in the neutral end was the deus ex earthquake which sort of resolved everything.
Yeah the earthquake was weird. The reveal at the end
about Yuka came as a pretty big surprise to me though.
I thought all of the characters were pretty well developed except for a couple. It was a nice read.
I love Divi-Dead so much. The twist is incredible and the suspense filled plot culminates in perfectly orchestrated chaos. I was so inspired by the premise of Divi-Dead I researched ancient grimoires including the infamous Black Bible. Eventually I started performing my own black magic rituals, summoning all sorts of demons to impose my dark desires unto the world. I soak my clothes in the incense of my unholy rituals before I go off to perform my mundane tasks. People always compliment my cologne but those fools don't even know it's coated in the ethereal darkness of my soul and that they're being corrupted just by being in my presence.
Divi dead is the greatest visual novel I have ever read.
They did explain themselves now, but I still don't get the whole point of deleting/locking threads.
They're all mostly self contained stories, but you'd definitely get more out of the experience if you've played the previous games. The preferred order would be Cartagra, then Kns1, then Kns2. You could honestly pick any of the three though and probably still have a good experience.
>MC is voiced at all times and doesn't sound like a woman
based herkz saw it all comming
based herkz is so mature
based herkz twoers far above us
How can one guy be this full of himself?
It's actually more about the terrible crime of fucking up the response and trying to remove any discussion about the matter. I agree it shouldn't be at all a big deal, and it wouldn't be if they could formulate a response that doesn't demean their own fans.
The thing about 4chan is that every post is given status- each new post is placed at the bottom of the thread, with none given more precedence. With this in mind, recognize that a few people posting about herkz, does not mean the whole thread is "hanging onti his every tweet".
Anon, i think you are missing the point.
That entire twitter page is set by moogy's IRC to showcase how stupid /r/visualnovel is. That's the only post I don't get. I'm guessing they think Ever17 is shit all around or something.
I'd rather take hot orgy scenes instead of chicken sandwiches.
I just found it implausible that teenagers wouldn't start indiscriminately fucking everyone around when they might be dead soon.
There were so many twists and in the end entire game went full meta. I'm having hard time believing you somehow cracked the entire game.
One of them was a computer and many characters were like 10 or something. Only realistic orgy would had been the tsuntsun girl and the older protag, which is pretty much of what we got anyway.
Since when there has been a distinction on visual novels based on your preference?
Finished rereading KnS. There's
a surprising amount of incest involved. Tatsuhiko and Yui, Fumiya and Chizuru, Toko's parents, Ryoichi's father and sister, Shinji and his mother, and finally the Takashiro female siblings both want Shugo.
>Only realistic orgy would had been the tsuntsun girl and the older protag
What about Yous and Kids or Kid and Coco or You and Takeshi?
Also I found it very odd that Takeshi wouldn't have asked Sora to show him porn that was surely stashed on some of the computers in the establishment or that Soras creator, a male, didn't make naked sprites of Sora to show off.
He's just angry because some people like porn.
>tfw I'm in that screenshot
Lamo who is this clown? Sounds like a thin-skinned and arrogant faggot.
I thought (and still think) my comment is perfectly valid and non-inflammatory.
More than half the posts here are just bait.
I see we already passed the line where disagreeing and stupid opinions are considered just memebaits. Because stupid people really don't exist and everyone doing something against norms must be pretending, right?
Well, using both for years gives me good reason to have a good opinion on both. I'd much rather 4chan overall despite it being on a steady and slow decline since it started.
You can whine all you want and make yourself look like herkz.
>he goes to leddit so he must be new to 4chainz
Lighten up and you can still respond to bait in good fun though. It's better than assuming everyone here are retards like you so want. Perhaps I should have used the term "tongue-in-cheek" instead. Maybe even this post is partially like that.
There hasn't been puritans in this thread. You are just shitting on novels that have no sexual content. Not only makes that you a huge hypocrite but seemingly a person that puts cheap fanservice above the story.
>The prompt tells you to write the presented hiragana characters (which are randomly generated) in kanji.
I have reverse engineered the portion of the wrapper that matters, and have made an unwrapper that should be able to unwrap versions 1 through 7. But before I present that, here's what I think about SoftDenchi. Quite frankly, the wrapper system is very weak. I don't know if Paltiosoft is underestimating people, or if they're incompetent, but the wrapper presents little challenge to anyone wishing to unwrap, especially if they've already gotten a valid activation key. The wrapper's protection is encrypting a portion of the protected EXE's code, but the amount is so small it's almost meaningless.
In the v7 sample I have 32 bytes are encrypted starting at the entry point. If you know about reverse engineering, you will know that the entry point typically contains the runtime initializer, and this code is similar between many executables using that runtime. So it's possible to just find another EXE with similar code, copy it over, fix a few offsets, and you're done. Exit, from above, is v6, and only had 16 bytes encrypted. There is no anti-dump, so you can just run the game, dump process, and copy over the unprotected bytes. Not only that, but the wrapper uses a publicly available PRNG implementation, and using that to perform XOR encryption. (It's a good thing they did that, because it meant less work for me. I wonder what the period on the PRNG is.) The wrapper has no support for in-memory patching of EXEs with TLS nor relocations. And you can practically skip all of its licensing checks by jumping past those instructions (and it'll decrypt and launch the game, with enough time for you to do a memory dump). Overall, it's just braindead and rather pathetic. You don't even need a code to decrypt it. If this is what company that made "the #1 DRM system used in Japan" can come up with, I think it is rather insulting to the Japanese.
If Kazuki could plan to put the knife in the cooler and anticipate that Amane might be in a life and death situation why didn't she anticipate that Amane would make a noise and alert Ochi to their presence? Why didn't she just drag her off without showing her them fucking?
She did anticipate it. It's all part of her plan. She's always 100 steps ahead.
But that would mean abandoning Yuuji was part of her plan.
Is there any VN where a character or group playing the long game is handled well? Almost all the time it's a contrived mess of perfect predictions and smoothly engineered outcomes.
Intensive planning, endless worrying, course corrections when things beyond the scope of prediction inevitably occur... these rarely feature, too often getting trumped by 計画通り.
Transcendental genius is one thing, omniscience is quite another. Quite like how it's handled in Words of Radiance, where a man cursed to wake up each day with varying levels of intellect had just one night of unparalleled vision, spent feverishly scribing and scheming. It doesn't last but the night's inscrutable and much-studied artifacts do, becoming a great map charting the future of the world in some detail with extensive instructions on how it needs to be steered, becoming less certain the further ahead it goes.
I know you want the unwrapper. So find it here:
Unwrapper + source code: http://www29.zippyshare.com/v/rfiiVZFe/file.html
To use, just drag and drop the protected EXE on to the unwrapper EXE, and it'll do its work. You may see a (EXE name)_unwrapped.exe file which will be the unwrapped version, or nothing, if they don't use an embedded EXE. Check the unwrapper's output for details.
Allow me to interject for a second. The game doesn't really need to be "cracked" to begin with. The executable is essentially just a compressed wrapper that extracts the actual game executable (renamed to 'main.bin') to the local directory. Just step through it using a debugger while skipping all the checks e.g. by patching the instructions or modifying the registers up to the point where the game starts and you should see it extract the main.bin in the game folder. Just rename it to an .exe and you should get this: http://www90.zippyshare.com/v/IMiT1fSw/file.html
What's the status of the 2nd Grisaia game?
After watching the 1st anime recently you see how much story you miss out on. I need my fix of best girl.
The anime of the second game is just an extended length episode
The main storyline of the 2nd and 3rd games are fairly short, but there's lots of side stories and non-canon H-scenes.
They said the 2nd translation is already done, but again, the main story is relatively short. Not sure how long it'll take them to release the 18+ version afterwards since there's a lot of stuff there.
Suzuha makes all the Chinami worth it so far.
Literately a angel.
Why does Reiji fuck mentally deficient psychiatric patients and high school girls less than half his age?
Well I would assume the appropriate kanji would be obvious if you know the shit, otherwise how would the Japanese guys solve it? Is why I assume it would be common ones that the IME would get easily.
>generic herkz drone that has no point of argument outside of sucking dick
Yeah wow anon. They sure got me, buddy! Whoa. Besides, there's nothing to get at me with. I laughed at some sperg who thinks he has any say or worth when they're obviously a man-child who has no skin.
I'd guess that you posted it. Especially seeing you've hidden everything else.
>ask /vn/ for some good vn's
>you guys rec hoshizora no memoria
except for asuho
>ask /vn/ again
>you guys rec ikikoi
except for tane
>ask /vn/ again
>you guys rec divi dead
literally shit, really bad
Are you guys legitimately trolling me or does /vn/ have shit taste this bad?
This. Sadly some people still don't realise that Ikkikoi is a legit noob-trap and meme. I'm not saying it's bad or awful or whatever, but it is a meme. And it is made to trick people.
What the fuck
Why is this ridiculously shy girl asking a man she met for 5 minutes to model for her painting
when she can't even draw a fucking apple
Geez I wonder about this prominently placed hairpin
get the plus+mosaic version for cute vanilla loli loving and
wrappers to be reverse engineered, TEST ALs to be detoured, and PRNG implementations to be NOPed while doing in-memory patching of EXEs with TLS in ollydbg
3000 is a lot
