Homebrew General Wiki: http://homebrew-general.wikia.com/
Gateway Forum: http://www.maxconsole.com/maxcon_forums/forums/108
3DS: 9.2 and below for piracy/CFW (10.1 for userland. 10.2 fixes some exploits, don't update. The eShop can be spoofed.)
WiiU: 5.2.0 (yet to be released IOSU exploit), 5.3.2 (kernel exploit), 5.4 (yet to be released kernel exploit)
Vita: 3.51 (Native Userland)
PS4: 1.76 (Webkit)
New 3DS emuNAND users can't be updated past 9.5.
Original/Old 3DS emuNNAND users can update all the way to 10.2
3DS: http://homebrew-general.wikia.com/wiki/Nintendo_3DS http://pastebin.com/WVszD3Tm http://pastebin.com/xAQF3Gw5 http://pastebin.com/JfAFfxGe
-eShop spoofers don't work anymore if you're at 9.9 or under. New 3DS emunand users and those who stopped at 9.9 can't get on the eShop anymore, unless they update sysnand to 10.x. You might want to wait.
-Themehax has been updated for 2.5 payloads and supports custom themes
-5.2 IOSU exploit. https://twitter.com/naehrwert/status/655782468688199680
-Loadiine, a backup loader, has been released. http://gbatemp.net/threads/398623/
-DON'T UPDATE PAST 5.2/5.3.2/5.4 AND STAY OFFLINE. The WiiU updates automatically, so be careful.
-A Vita update got released, you might not want to update since it fixes the email exploit.
-New exploit via the email app. Allows you to bypass the whitelist filter on PSTV, ePSP bubble creation, Free trophies, and more. http://gbatemp.net/threads/398004/
>he's not even the one who fixed it
nice job smea
Heres a cool scenario
Nintendo can block the ability to download like this, they could have just blocked the ability to even access the eshop obviously right? So why let us log into the eshop with our NNIDs only to give an error when we try to download? Its easy
they are logging the account info of anyone who logs into the eshop via NNID and then hits the new barrier/error code. It is an effective way to tell who is using unauthorized software. If you manage to log into the eshop with a version that fails the check, you have to be using some sort of hack to achieve it.
So if you used HANS or free multipatcher to try and access the eshop youre fucked. Prepare for that incoming ban
>being past 9.2
You know, it took a long time before a 9.2 kernel exploit was found. If you care so much, why aren't you at 9.2? Every possible situation isn't good to justify being past 9.2 if you care about it. All of them.
if smea found a kernel exploit is there any chance he'd use/release it? like maybe just take the whole "I'm not adding anything to enable piracy, if someone else does it's not my problem" approach?
since you're asking, ironhax is probably out of the question for you
so basically go buy cubic ninja or ocarina of time 3d
alternatively just wait a while, lots of hax have released lately
>mfw 9.2 so I can pirate and don't need the eshop at all
I've got my o3ds on 4.2 with rxtools and 10.1 emunand
someone else set this up for me
I think I have a 9.2 nand backup anymore
is there any reason to use 9.2 instead of 4.2 if I'm using CFW anyway?
What firmware do refurbished consoles from Nintendo come with?
Was there a precompiled Rutile Ruby linked here? I can't braindump my copy of the base game due to lack of SD space.
just decompile the rutile cia file with ctrtool and you're set
remember to update your hans from smea's twitter so you don't have to strip the romfs header
when you extract romfs and code for a romhack, you used to have to remove the first few bytes in a hex editor (usually HxD) for it to work, this is called header stripping
yeah I know, but it is technically possible to port it on the 3DS, and gbatemp kiddies will say that it's kickass and even better than what 9.2 users claim to want (because loading rom through emulation is not piracy, remember?)
Do you mean the one that doesn't tell you where you need to put which files and gives you broken NAND dumps that brick your console when you try to restore them?
No, we mean the one that clearly tells you where files goes because youre too much of a retard to not read the included guide
>thinking rxtools still has bugs
>It doesn't though. They changed stuff and didn't update the readmes.
no they didn't, I followed the readme and it worked, you're just a moron
>pls update to 10.2
Be nice, please. Both of you.
I do use the GW launcher, but rxTools is supposed to do it too, it's also supposed to be an alternative to that.
Two weeks ago and last night aren't exactly the same thing. I think they now have updated the readme since the last time I checked, but it used to be wrong. Look at the closed issues and you'll see.
Unless want to launch it from kickhax 2.5 and maybe use some of the tools, you have no reason to update from 2.6.
I forgot to add:
the point of updating it would be using stuff like the NAND dumper. And that can potentially brick your console right now. How can you say "it has no bugs"? If all you use is emunand and patches, the only differences are the entry points you can use and the interface. Why does it matter so much, then? It's kind of pointless to argue like that.
I can't say you aren't right about that.
Still, the micro SD slot sucks.
>inb4 just use ftp!!!
That's not always the best thing. It might be in your case, but it isn't really in mine.
"The Internet browser cannot be used at this time.
Please check your network environment and try again later."
fuck.. am I screwed? I don't even know how it still knows to check..
1) Set up your DNS settings like this:
Primary DNS: 22.214.171.124
Secondary DNS: 107.211.140.065
2) Then, go back to the home menu and turn off your WiFi. Now, turn on your WiFi and launch the browser immediately.
3) If browserhax does not launch, repeat step 2 until it does.
It has some problems, but that has to be expected. Nightlies and stability don't go well together. Unless you want to use an entry point that's not spider, there's not much need to update.
What's the best CFW for N3DS these days? I have Reinand set up with Ninjhax 1.0, but it seems like the dev died a few months back.
Guess I'll need (Ninj)Hax 2.5 anyway for eShop access now too.
Dumb question time: Has anybody tried using a >=64gb microsd for their N3DS?
My poor 32gb is getting full of KICKASS homebrew so I'd like to know if a bigger one would work since nintendo doesn't officially support more than 32gb.
was actually trying to do it for my brother
I've got two 3DSs with homebrew already, one with ironhax and one with menuhax on 10.2 and 10.1 respectively. Can't manage to get oot3dhax working on 9.9 for some reason even when I grabbed an older payload from themehax 1.2 like I did to get it to work on my old3ds. Was hoping to just use browserhax instead and then setup menuhax for him, but I guess not.
I'll try again once the old3ds bugs in oot3dhax are fixed and it's safe to use the latest stuff again
Thought this minor news story was humourous:
All games that require/come with firmware 9.9 include a fake web browser. So if you update your system to it's 9.9 then you LOSE your web browser and are forced to update to 10.2. So it's lose-lose on the homebrew front.
So again, 9.9fags can't get a break.
Are you saying that if I want to download a game from the eshop on my 9.9
nevereverthrough HANS and that game requires 9.9 to run, then the game will force me to update to 10.2 in order to play?
If you're already on 9.9 then you're fine. The news only affects anyone under who wants to update to 9.9 for some fucking reason.
Not only is 9.9 useless, it's actually a hazard to homebrew at this stage.
Yeah, I can see the logic behind that. However, I'm seeing many people, at least on GBATemp, that have already updated to 10.1/10.2 for some reason.
Also, am I the only one that believes that the shit smegma pulled earlier today with 9.9 HANS users, was to bait us to update to 10.2? Maybe he knows something is in the works for 9.9 but, since he is a moralfag, he wants as few people as possible to get on the piracy train? I wouldn't put it past him, especially since he acted so smug about it at first and when yellows8 fixed it he was like "It was just a prank bro!".
There were legitimately people who updated from 9.2 to 9.3 when ninjhax 2 came out, because they were convinced a new kernel exploit was going to come out any day now
We tried to convince them it was a bad idea, but they updated anyway
I dont know, but it was a thread full of people trying to explain that he could just use emunand, or spoofing to use eshop
He said he wanted to update, and he'd use the 9.3 kernel
Made no fucking sense at all
To be honest, the only reason I'm on 9.9 right now, is because I got on the 3DS train late (N3DS) and I found out about this general when 9.9 came out. Of course that's my fault, but back then I thought only Gateway had access to piracy. Also, I thought that the 3DS scene was at least PSP levels of decent. The 9.2 people you are talking about though, they knew about the kernel exploit already and probably already knew about the moralfaggotry that plagues the scene, so why the fuck did they want to update? And I'm seeing this situation play out again right now with 9.9 and many people already updating past that.
When did he try baiting people to update in the past? I don't remember that.
>Also, am I the only one that believes that the shit smegma pulled earlier today with 9.9 HANS users, was to bait us to update to 10.2? Link to all this drama?
>all the >9.2 retards and moralfags genuinely believing they'll get kernel exploit someday while nintendo is going nuclear on them
>meanwhile <9.3 emunand users can pirate shit and use the eShop just fine
At this rate, Citra will actually get playable before a 9.9 exploit is released.
I think you're reading too much into it.
He never said anything about updating to the latest. All he said was people "should have" updated to 10.1 when he said it was ok too.
Updating to the latest would've been pointless anyway.
Also there is nothing coming for 9.9.
set up a server, read DVDs and stream pirated movies (Last time I did this, I watched Salt like a week before release, it was pretty fun, video quality aside), play Doom, modding games, backup GC/Wii saves, and play every Nintendo title to up to the Wii bar DS. Some 64 titles as well, not that there's much to play on 64 anyway
>saying "fuck off" to the guy who rightfully states the fact that a 3ds above 9.2 is a glorified paperweight for anything homebrew doesn't mean you think he's wrong
>even attempting to deny this
i'm not even going to bother responding anymore
Right, and? He can still do stuff with his 3DS using the HBL. The thread is "Homebrew and hacking general". Shutting someone down because he can't pirate is stupid and childish. Instead of yelping
>nice paperweight faggot
How about actually helping in the threads topic rather acting like a meme child.
Hurray. Unfortunately my upload speed is garbage so if anyone wants me to up the .romfs that's a no-can-do.
Unless you feel like waiting until tomorrow.
Well I'm uploading it either way since I keep stuff like this on my Megasync or whatever it's called.
So, expect me to quote that post later on whenever it finishes.
I might do the same for Star Sapphire but I don't own the base game, so... eh.
My brother brought me his gf's O3DS 9.8 because Trifoce Heroes' cart wants to update to 9.9.
What differences are between 9.8 and 9.9? Should he just update it?
Can anything be done on 9.8 to play it without updating?
I went GW and don't have any headache like this.
>N3DS with 9.2J running Reinand
Is there any reason I shouldn't sell my Gateway?
Update to 10.2, as it's already been mentioned in the thread that TH's 9.9 update deletes the web browser and fucks you over even more.
.3dz files and dual SD cards are handy, though not necessary.
>Uploaded the Pokémon Neo Y working romfs like promised: https://mega.nz/#!iNwwVI7A!VYhucXmWtIM-rD9aZtjVoz89nl1fhtlmYAEqCPoT0Hw
>Password for extraction: kickasshomebrew
For the sake of it, Neo X.
This should be on the OP.
It is, it's pre-browserhax.
You're on the right track.
You want FBI (homebrew launcher version), fbi.cia, cubic ninja.cia, gateway launcher.dat and your chosen cfw's files on your sd card
Install fbi.cia with the other fbi, then install cubic ninja. Backup SD card contents Use cubic ninja to run gateway launcher and format emunand. Restore SD card contents and you're about done.
More like crippled-piracy
>It's not okay to run illegal 3ds backups
>It's okay to run illegal backups from older consoles
The funniest part is that emulators run like shit on the 3ds without kernel access.
I don't know, it seems like a sneaky way to update since the the update data is appearantly on the system already.
Anyone know how to enter recovery mode? I think I did it... is there a graphical confirmation that I have entered Recovery Mode.
find a DSTwo or R4 3DS
the DSTwo is better for GBA and SNES emulation (because of its integrated CPU) but drains battery faster (because of its integrated CPU), so unless you want to emulate those two consoles, buy an R4 3DS
since hans modifies the eshop there must be a way to make it install cias, right?
>Piracy is bad, m'kay
>By the way, here's our affiliate website that lists all the shops that sell devices dedicated to piracy with reviews and a 5-star rating system
GBATemp is a miracle of the universe.
Of course! Why wouldn't the website that refuses to talk about piracy give official reviews of a card that has no purpose BESIDES piracy!
Does playing this shit require 9.2 and below still? I haven't been paying attention since the new *hax came out, but I thought I heard something about playing roms, but can't find a way to do it.
You have to buy a game and/or jump through a growing number of hoops in order to play the 2 or 3 PSP games that'll fit on your memory card.
Buying a PSP is the better option if you want Piracy or Homebrew/emulators.
Oh, come on. You can't be this dumb.
This desu, although anyone who updated past 9.2 is dumb. at least they shouldn't complain about it. I would get it if there were a lot of reasons to update past 9.2, but there were none. It is their fault.
Wait, did you really do that?
How do you plan to launch the GW launcher with that? By installing Cubic Ninja or Ocarina of Time to sysnand in rxMode?
Yeah, apparently they have never seen an hex editor interface before. Who cares about the status bar telling you where the cursor is, or that the first byte is 0x0, or that the stuff on the left only refers to the first byte in the line and not the whole line. I don't get it either, anon.
Hey /hbg/, I've got a dead pixel on my screen and apparently the 3DS shows the left-eye screen when 3D is off, which is when I can see the dead pixel. Is there any way to switch the screen to show the right-eye screen when 3D is off, or will that not help at all? I'm on latest rxTools nightly.
Thanks in advance.
tfw I spent more time emulating shit than playing actual 3ds games
EUR n3ds with 10.1 here. I just got my 3ds and have a few questions.
1) Gateway or Sky3DS? I kinda feel like the sky3ds might be better. What do you guys think?
2) Are they both able to play Xenoblade? Or let me ask this way, will they play every game even new ones? What about region locks. Can I get around them with homebrew?
thx to every kind anon taking his time to answer
I'm >>121148247, I've done nothing so far, I was merely pointing out how one says it's fine and the next says that I shouldn't get 9.9 from TH, or update from any 9.9+ game cart from what I found.
Is 10.2 relatively good? I know it'll never be 9.2 but I was under the impression that 10.2 broke some things that 10.0/1 didn't.
>buy o3ds with broken screens for almost nothing
>can't see FW version in system settings
>replace screens anyway
>Is 10.2 relatively good?
No. You'd need to set up the exploit before updating (and your only choices here are oot3d and original ironfall, apart of cubic ninja)
everything else is fixed.
I dont know what to do. I cant understand guide.
And my english sucks.
Is this the best guide for vWii?
Heт тoвapищ, я из Poccии.
I'm sorry. I read guide better.
someone should make a pastebin guide to prevent wii u automatic updates
block the following domains on your router:
in case reinand doesn't work with 2.5 or HANS doesn't work with 1, you can either install cubic ninja in emunand and install 2.5 on it, or pirate instead of using the eshop
>I was under the impression I needed 2.5 in order to use HANS and the eShop spoofer
>but in theory this shit should actually run on Ninjhax 1 right?
No. The Payloads are completely different. It will not run.
Fuck. I could probably switch to rxTools fairly easily if it supports 2.5, but it seems a lot of hassle just to get muh eShop. And I only use that for game updates because it just werks compared to fucking with cias.
If I install themehax before updating, will it still be set after updating? I'd rather avoid giving that scheming and manipulative bitch my OoT.
Themehax good enough? Can it be set to activate only if booting with a button held?
menuhax manager for menuhax
hans if you are a >9.2fag
decrypt9, braindump if you're a >9.2fag
svdt if you're a >9.2fag, else just install sdf
is ctrxmanager available on *hax? if it is, that too
retroarch emulators i guess
So I'm on 9.9 and I gave myself 2.5 Themehax via the manual installer on GBATemp before the latest Menuhax or whatever came out. Should I update to the latest one or am I just safe on the current one I have?
I know Menuhax apparently disables the L button from working as a boot to Themehax at launch or something, but past that I'm kind of in the dark. All I remember is people saying it was safe to overwrite Themehax with Menuhax, but there's a bunch of tiny problems.
Also HANS and Retroarch.
everything is good except ps1 and gba, i'm sure about the snes emulators in retroarch if they emulate stuff like smt or yoshi's island yet
if you use a new 3ds it's even better
I doubt it'll come to that, and even if it did I assume it would touch the people who got the download error rather than anyone who accessed it. It only seems like they can partially tell if you're spoofing it or not in the first place, and if they would do anything to block it it would be NNID authentication rather than the eShop most likely. They didn't touch people who downloaded the updated Shop Channel on lower firmwares for example, and if it was a truly big deal they would ban you like they do to people who don't have private headers.
No it isnt. Ive tried many games but they all run slow. Titles such as golden sun, metroid and the battle network games run very slow unless its specific to which version of the 3ds youre on..
Yeah, maybe it is the case.
I cant run shit on my Link 3ds xl. As far i recall, if I had mgba skip 3 frames Golden sun would be a bit playable.
mgba is new so as the anon above yousaid, Im not going to knock it. Im sure itll get better
Letterbomb doesn't seem to work on vWii, indeed.
Further down it mentions a bunch of games/exploits, one being Brawl, which I have. Now I just need my friend to return it to me.
>Living in Europe + 9.9fag
What's this table referencing exactly when it says "nand emulation"? It's not just installing HBC and booting a usb loader to play my wbfs, right? If so, should I care at all about that?
I followed the guide to access eshop on my region changed emunand (US10.2 to JP10.2)
I just deleted the 00000000 file from my extracted emunand and that seemed to work, since I could register a new JPN NNID. After following another tutorial to access eshop from here (https://gbatemp.net/threads/3ds-region-change-tutorial-easy-way.386207/) I get a 005-5602 error. FYI the region on my 3DS is set to Tokyo.

Why are Sony and the Vita scene so much fucking cancer?
oh neat and after i downloaded it again since the first HANS eShop firmware spoofer
free userland entrypoint for those that had Club Nintendo. I am on 9.5.0-22 but for the 10.2 losers who updated is this hope for them? new entrypoint for 10.2 that isnt Ironfall as long as the loser who updated and is on 10.2 bothered to have Club Nintendo and Flipnote?
I fucking did a transfer today literally an hour ago, QCMA works fine, and so does PS3 transfer. Update Blocker works, did ya set the proxy on your Vita's Internet settings? Also, you might get lucky, the only thing stopping PS1 loaders from working on 3.52 is the write problem, which SMOKE says he wrote PSP-INSTALLER to fix.
Make sure you turned off download auto-update file, and that you completely shut down your vita then turn it on after running Update blocker and have the proxy settings on your vita(also If you use usb for transferring games from PS3, put your vita on airplane mode, if it doesn't work, reboot it again and keep it on airplane mode)
Why does hans always load the original Omega Ruby instead of Rultile Ruby?
SD Card paths: D:\3ds\RutileRuby.xml
Yes rruby.romf is exactly 1.75 GBs and I edited its code; I have already checked it 5 times. What am I doing wrong?
I'll give it a try again after my Vita's recharged. But I believe Tomba 2 might not be PS3 transferable at all. I downloaded Jumping Flash!, Prinny PSP and Crimsonland alongside Tomba 2 just to make sure I wasn't fucking up the QCMA method, and everything else besides Tomba did show up.
Anyone here have experience with oot3dhax on 9.9?
I've got two other modded consoles to setup the hax on, but I'm struggling to find a payload that it works with.
I went from crash messages to just the bit where it's waiting for a ropbin and then throws you to the home menu.
I tried the newest 2.5hax 9.9 that I know wouldn't work (for scientific purposes), after that I went to smealum's site to find out the filename of a 9.9 payload and then found the file in the themehax 1.2 payloads folder and used that one. That one was the one where it went from crashing to just not working and sending me to the home menu.
Well first off thanks for not being an ass, but even if I change the .romf and .code to its ID name I still just get a black screen with a few pixels to the side. Same results with naming it rruby.
Yes, but 2.5hax doesn't work on the old 3DS so I have to replace the payload that oot3dhax_installer installs with an older payload. I'm wondering where I can get one besides the one from Themehax 1.2 since that didn't work either.
Yeah, I've got the whole starterkit as well as menuhax and some stuff on there for when it finally does work. This is the third 3DS I'm trying to put homebrew on, just haven't had to deal with 9.9 before, or if I did I was using ironhax at that time. I'm also very new to oot3dhax. I know how to use it but have only been doing it for a couple days.
The problem is definitely the payload.bin file. I need a source for older ones I believe. Just long enough so I can install menuhax.
Anyone know what firmware the NES-Themed 3DSXL comes with?
I bought a 2nd NDSL for $10AUD at a garage sale, went to buy an R4i for it only to find you can't really get them anymore because the 3DS RTS are backwards compatible.
Now, I have a 3DS with firmware 10.1.0 so no CFW, do I need CFW to play regular DS games on the 3DS with the 3DS RTS cart?
woooo I will get a 3DSXL after I sell OoT3d and my 9.2 beatup o3DS.
After playing Awakening.cia for a couple hours, I went and played my Shuffle on my XL and was blown away (again), I fucking love the bigger screen.
>missed a comma
>removes 2 exclamation marks
>bothers to delete his post and repost it because of this
What the fuck is wrong with you
Opposite opinion for me. The non-XL models feels so much sturdier, and they don't have that irritating snap when you open or close them. My o3DS feels so nice to hold compared to the XL.
Bigger screen is nice and all, but it doesn't matter too much given the 240p resolution.
>they don't have that irritating snap when you open or close them.
that's not a 3ds vs 3ds xl thing, that's dependent on specific hinges
my o3ds and o3ds xl both snap when opened nice and loud, but my n3ds xl has very quiet hinges
time to put up filters I guess
you guys literally constantly repost the same shit. Like you even use the same gifs and retarded JUST/Brandon Frasher meme
get some new material and fuck off
>inb4 someone says "le kickass homebrew"
time to filter that too
>Why care about quality games when you can have KICKASS HOMEBREW!
>Homebrew is literally the ability to use a couple shit "games" and like 2 shitty emulators (that actually get decent fps without running as .cia)
Yeah no thanks smegma.
N3ds xl is worse. Sure, the scratches aren't as bad, but they're still there. Also holy fuck, the paint is quickly chipping away. Scratches every fucking where on the outside top shell. Never had this problem with any other handheld, never had paint chip away like this. Never had scratches show up so quickly. I'm not treating it any differently than my old xl. The top shell scratches extremely easily. Whole thing does. L and r are mediocre at best like any nintendo handheld. Zl and zr are useless, besides maybe xenoblade. Nub is shit, its an insult and ruins the console for games with cpp, because you cant use the old cpp that was an actual circle pad, you need to use the shitty nub that doesnt move. The actual circle pad has no grip to it like the 2ds did. The texture, I mean. Buttons are alright and the d pads bretty gud. Volume sliders meh, im glad it goes mute at the lowest setting before the click, because if it werent set up like that the snap would wear fast.
Sorry about useless post but I have so many gripes about the n3ds xl and I need to let off some steam. So pissed the screen scratches still happen.
oof. I've never had a n3DS, but thanks for bringing that up. I wanted to upgrade again but I'm gonna wait until there's something worth playing.
Personally, I'm holding out for Galaxy 3D
or RE4ThreeDee, idgaf I'll buy it for the 3rd time and play it again for the 10th time
if you're retarded yeah I guess
I did it my self to update from 7.2 to 9.2. just be sure in devmode on rxtools (which is only possible with rxtools 2.5.2 or the nightly builds)
Maybe look around for some other experiences though. I bought mine from play asia, first batch or so for that sweet 9.1 firmware. Couldve been fixed by us release. I regret not buying a standard size one, or hell, the blue one. Black is bad for the console. But god damn was I fucking blessed to see it didnt have its screens dipped in piss like my old xl was.
Only if you don't follow the instructions properly (like trying to use sysupdater in Rxmode and bricking the console, instead of using Devmode)
I just updated my system to 9.2 the other day, works great.
>Nub is shit, its an insult and ruins the console for games with cpp, because you cant use the old cpp that was an actual circle pad, you need to use the shitty nub that doesnt move.
someone's never used a ThinkPad..
>Sorry about useless post but I have so many gripes about the n3ds xl and I need to let off some steam. So pissed the screen scratches still happen.
Not getting screen scratches or paint chipping on my MonHun N3DS XL.
So? I've used the nub. It's not made for a fucking replacement for games that used it originally for aiming. You have no other choice than the nub for shooting games. Its shit. Works for camera. Kinda for smash, useless since im used to tilt+a, but it works. But for games originally made for a fucking circle pad? Useless.
Like I said could be the batch I have, or maybe it's just the standard black ones.
That moon shooting game, kid icarus, and a couple others I forgot about.
Yeah I said that because I cant remember what its called but 3ds's randomly have one of two screen types, the correct colored ones, or one highly saturated in yellow.
>Yeah I said that because I cant remember what its called but 3ds's randomly have one of two screen types, the correct colored ones, or one highly saturated in yellow.
are you talking about IPS vs TN? that was separate from the yellow screen issue
No shit. Now that I think about it, I do get a yellowish tint when my system goes into Power Save Mode.
Eh, I've gone this far enjoying the system, not gonna start crying now.
Will the R4i software ever get a visual upgrade?
They let you make your own "themes" but they're pretty limited.
no its literally a dstwo and a gateway card/clone in one
thats it. hell some people are even buying new batches of DSTWO's and making them into DSTWO Plus' because its the exact same hardware
I have NAND backups of 4.2 and 9.2 from a long time ago. Did these include any personal data? Also/if not, how do I backup my streetpass data, gamesaves, etc.?
I'm going to upgrade to rxtools 3.0 and I want to not lose my shit if anything happens.
>Did these include any personal data?
>how do I backup my streetpass data, gamesaves, etc.?
backup the Nintendo 3DS folder that's on your sd card - for extra security, also use savedatafiler to backup your saves
>upgrade to rxtools 3.0
shouldn't fuck any of your shit, if something doesn't work it will just not boot
anyone here built rxtools on GNU/Linux?
it looks like I've done everything correctly.. it just doesn't work
btw I tried building in on linux and ended up getting an error (dirent.h not implemented for this platform, or something like that), save yourself some time and just get the latest nightly
oh I'm actually really new to doing this shit myself (my little brother setup rxtools for me originally) and stumbling around the internet I came across the build guide before I found the nightly downloads.. can you give me a link?
Can't get the path to work. You guys giving different responses made me finally just go check where it was stored. It was /opt/devkitpro/devkitARM and setting it to that was still not working for some reason.
Thank you guys for the links. Will install nightly for now and maybe try harder to build it another time.
guy updating rxtools here - for the firmware.bin mentioned am I supposed to use the one I already had at the root of my sd card and just move it to the new spot?
also I'd like to do this ds profile exploit thing while I'm screwing around because fuck opening the browser
It mentions a ds mode flashcart and I happen to have a DSTWO. Will that work?
>an error has occurred
>broke my cfw
Has ANYONE anywhere in the scene actually said something to make you guys think there will be a kernel exploit on 9.9 or is that just the version everyone accidentally updated to before they stopped updating?
everything can be done to both emunand and sysnand
you can dump and restore nand (you might not want to try that with the latest nightly for now, since it might result in a brick), decrypting roms, extracting xorpads, stuff like that.
A liar on Reddit, a liar on GBAtemp and a liar right here.
>decrypting roms, extracting xorpads, stuff like that.
Where do I read up on this stuff? I have heard xorpads mentioned before but I don't really get what they are. I'd also like to grab some more 3DS games, but I don't really know the process. AFAIK .cia files just work, but the other two file types were made for gateway. I heard you can convert them, though. Is that related to xorpads?

yes but themehax is better
I feel like that HANS shit was really recent and I've seen the 9.9 meme since I started coming here regularly.
>A liar on Reddit, a liar on GBAtemp and a liar right here.
Alright. Will continue to swear by 9.2 then.
I considered it but my 3DS is on 4.2, not 9.2. Would installing themehax on the emunand be enough? I think it's on 10.1, not 10.2, so I could probably get in there with oot3dhax and then install menuhax.
xorpads are used to decrypt a game
to convert a 3DS file to CIA you need to :
1. generate ncchinfo.bin for your 3DS file
2. generate xorpads from your ncchinfo.bin
3. decrypt 3DS file with xorpad
4. build cia
AutoCIA can generate ncchinfo, decrypt the 3DS and build the cia
use rxtools to generate the xorpads
on new3DS you need slot0x25key.bin, google it
Thank you. One other question: What's all the FBI and injection stuff about? The flowchart from the OP says I'm supposed to have those files on my SD card but I don't think they're on there and I didn't have any trouble. Is that just for some sort of extra functionality?
ah I see
well I can understand why it's better, but for now I'll probably stick with the mset thing.
btw what do I lose/gain if I update my sysnand from 4.2 to 9.2? what are most of you guys running?
If I remember correctly, xorpads were needed to convert them, but aren't anymore. I think Decrypt CTR Titles looks for the .3ds files and gives you their romfs and exefs files (which then need to be extracted with a Windows program on your PC)
FBI is a .cia installer. You need to inject in order to use it the first time (it edits your emunand so that when you try to run the health thing it runs fbi instead)
