Are you man enough to handle 8 hot monkey dicks at the same time?
Is there a way to put up specific quests in gathering hall descriptions? I need to do Rival Clash but I don't want people joining if they just need Seregios.
this is my first monster hunter game, don't bully

Post some monsters and cute huntresses
Monster Hunter has been sucessful over the years because it stuck to the same formula that got its initial success. How much room is there for new ideas without changing the dynamic that is Monster Hunter?
Would you play a monster hunter with an open world environment with they kept all the other aspects the same?
It'd be a change of pace, dunno if I would mind or not.
I don't remember the name of this new subspecies, Flaming Rathalos? Anyway, it's from that phone game thing. Cool armor though.
I like the mission-based structure, it focuses on the gameplay.
I would like larger hunting environments and more stuff like GQs and Expeditions where you can split up and regroup ad hoc as random monsters show up.
I would also like to see an MH with all of the monsters. All of them. Because I started with MH4U and haven't experienced many of the older monsters. And it'd be great not knowing what to expect when you go out there.
Why would anyone ever want to use anyhing but bushido style in MHX? What are the downsides? It basically makes you untouchable and seeing as some players could use it effectively on the demo, it doesn't seem to require too much practice
Not MonHun tho
Agreed. We probably won't see a port off handhelds in the west.
Granted they are trying to keep things fresh and new for players to keep them interested but I do miss the old monsters. The only one I would say I don't wanna see again is Plessy.
Take HBG for example, though. What moves will you take away? HBG without a limiter is literally just roll and shoot. How do you make a downside to that after adding all that mobility?
I guess you could severely limit ammo types or something, but I dunno.
That's why I mentioned the limiter. There already is no siege mode and, most of the time, that's a good thing. But yes, it's all conjecture at this point. I'm mostly worried Bushido's going to be TOO good. That HBG run is sexy as hell.
>Bow has so few moves
>What the fuck could you take away from Bow
>Why the fuck would you do that to me
Speaking of MHX
What monsters do you want to come back that wasn't in 4U?
What monsters do you want them to keep from 4U?
What monsters do you want to just forget?
>Alatreon, Barioth, Gigginox, Gaoren
>Magalas, Ukanlos, Fatalis, Gogmazios
MHX has most of the monsters I want to return in the game already. It's a shame there's no Gigginox. Khezu a shit.
I wouldn't mind a severe lack of Akantor and Ukanlos. Also 90% of the Flying Wyverns that aren't Rathalos or Rathian. There was WAAAAAY too much of that skeleton in 4U. I like the Magalas, though. Why you hatin'?
Alatreon, Qurupeco, Sand Barioth (or give Barioth Sand Barioth's moveset), Great Baggi, Lucent Nargacuga
Seregios, Gore Magala, Monoblos (or give Diablos Monoblos' moveset)
Kirin, Hypnocatrice, Gigginox, Gravios, Basarios, Diablos, Mohrans, Dalamadur, Lao Shan Lung, Shen Gaoren, almost every sub species. There should only be the normal monster and a rare species
Anyone have Ruby Bas. Original series (any letter) Legs?
I think as long as you're consciously trying to learn from your mistakes, life honing isn't necessarily bad, but higher damage is pretty definitely optimal. That said, I don't life hone, but that one arena quest with life honed weapons was fun, so I kinda get why people would want to do it.
I miss the old online setup in 3. where you could enter a lobby and view a whole bunch of different rooms without entering search credentials. it was so much easier to run with random back then.
G-crown turns I guess,
The only thing the DS has going for it is the dual screen. Other than that is mediocre across the board.
PSP could've easily used the same lockon 3DS uses, but they didn't because there was no need to.
Much smoother run, satisfied with the time and won't be trying to cut it down more! I think I'll move on to a different monster to TA now.
>streetpassing LR shitters with clown suits consisting of 5 different monsters' armors, none of which intersect in skills and (since they're LR) can't possibly have gemmed skills
>can't possibly be for aesthetic purposes, unless you think a Nerscylla-Tetsu-Vdrome-Jaggi-Gypceros combo looks nice
>since they're streetpasses, can't help them unfuck themselves
This is true suffering.
On the contrary you can retrace your steps, keeping a keen eye out for anyone with a 3ds, then checking your streetpass to see if it's them and if it is beating the shit out of them irl.
Best/Easiest way to get ElderDragon bones? I've made almost every IG and now every Kinsect needs at least 2 EDBs each to upgrade (no to mention the Fatalis glaive needs 5)
>That Akagi cosplay.
Come on weebs, you know you want to copy our asian overlords!
You can block pretty much all explosions but the supernova, even with SnS. The chip damage isn't even that bad either. Shields definitely make Brachy and Teo fights comfier.
I think he was referring to the thing where (126+ GQ?) Teo creates a swirling mass of powder somewhere on the field remote from it and then triggers the same kind of explosion as when it goes nova, though, not the flamethrower or the lesser explosions. I don't know if that one can be blocked, I've never tried nor seen anyone else try.
Someone explain guild quests and expeditions
Why should I give a fuck about equipment biases and what does the armour series mean.
Also what does it mean when shit has been added to the quest pool.
Why the fuck cant I get firecell stones
Why steve a shit
biases don't mean shit, monsters barely mean shit, gear is fuckawful
shit in your guild quest pool can be made into actual quests to complete and level up and give better rewards
Boo fucking hoo, come back when you need 3 allfires and a large elder dragon gem for half the g-rank equipment
>guy comes in my room asking for help on LR zingore in broken english

It's decent if you're using BFB, another set you can make is one without Sharpness+1 for Rogue Sedition.
You can buy Raw Meat from him with points.
Should be Edgemaster+4, Maestro+10, OO

>one is a skinny Rathalos that throws exploding scales
>the other is literally Yellow Hedgehog Nargacuga
I bet the guy that made these is the same that spams and makes Pokemon threads in /v/ and other boards.
Why's it so difficult to get awaken?
seriously. 3 slots for a +2. What the fuck? You'd need 5 pieces of equipment with 3 slots if you want to fit it on anything that doesn't have it inherently.
>Seregios is a spike flying wyvern despite having no spikes but the three on its tail
On the other hand Nargacuga and Garuga are spiky wyverns.
No, i discard it because it's a retarded comparison, like the rest of the pictures. The only one that could be accepted is the Dinovaldo-Abiorugu one because 'valdo is literally a blue one with the spikes in the opposite direction.
The only thing they share is color and throwing parts of their body.
>mark hall cuz farming g-rank kecha parts
>guy joins hall
>wearing all kecha gear
>slotted for thunder +1
>using the first tier a. rath hammer
>eats for fire res
>someone joins hall
>with all negative skills
>eats for unlucky cat and carver lo
So exactly why wasn't Nargacuga mentioned in your posts? Because it did the throwing spikes thing way before both of them. And Green Nargacuga other than green kinda looks yellow too.
But of course we can't mention it because it goes against your shitty picture, right?
>french guy joins
>they're using an IG
>it's not just a meme
>people get to g-rank
>still have no idea what they're doing
was in a room the other day where a guy didn't know to hold r when mounting to not get thrown
what the real actual fuck, how do people get this far in the game?
I kind of prefer the colours on kecha x.
Yeah, French players really are worse than other players and really are more likely to use IG. Who knows why though. German pubs are usually the least shit, again though, who knows why.
Maybe he used Mounting for most of the game, there's a few monsters you can successfully mount without holding r even without it and with it it's like 30% of monsters that you can. And it's on the Derring gear I've seen randoms still using in high rank, presumably because they can't even figure out how to forge/wear new armour.
>cant figure out how to forge/wear amor
Jesus, the learning curve isnt that steep is it? Even when I first started playing MH back in second gen and was noobtastic, I still had the good sense to make full sets and recieve armor skills.
Anon, it's time to stop projecting.
And Nargacuga's spike attack is not the monster's main focus, it's rarely used while it focuses on pouncing with its bladed wings and slamming the tail.
All these stories about randoms happens when modern gamers (I apologize for the cliche) play something that maintains a design philosophy that's twelve years old. Even though 4U has more "tutorial" than previous games, it still doesn't hit you in the face with most of it. That shit doesn't fly with a lot of people; when you're used to having your hand held, you tend to lose your way once it's let go.
TL;DR: Fuck millennials, stupid cunts.
>implying i implied it was
g-rank is by no means a feat but you still have to put in some hours to get there. the fact that they somehow manage to garner zero experience from however many hours it takes to get there is just phenomenal
Incorrect. You can either:
1. Get carried
2. Never mount, as is relevant to your post
You did imply it was by virtue of ignoring the possibility of these three possibilities.
>Implying not knowing how to mount is zero experience
>it's rarely used while it focuses on pouncing with its bladed wings and slamming the tail
Oh so you mean like Hyujikiki, other than that it slams with its whole body and leaves hazards on the ground when it moves. And it certainly is Lucent's main focus.
After coming back from a long break, I realised I don't have a blast Lance. Which one should I go for, two, brachy or fatalis?
Please don't say brachy as it took me like 15 runs to get one reactor (or whatever it was called)
>stupid uneducated opinion, etc
Tastes like damage control. I said G-rank wasn't a feat and proved it wasn't. No goalposts were moved or semantics used.
Not defending him, though it could also be a player 2, someone gave the game away, shit like that.
I started in 4u and didn't figure out how armour skills worked until halfway through caravan low rank simply because menus were somewhat obtuse and I'd just been introduced to decorations and talismans, and thus assumed skills from armour came from decorations and added to skills from talismans, and I had also assumed that they were linear instead of reliant on thresholds. I first realised right around the time you first fight lagombi I know because it was the most current full suit that I liked the look of and I wanted to start benefiting from skills.
But no, if someone doesn't even know how to make new armour they must only play online or something. But that's weird because the game kind of pushes you to do the caravan and ignore multiplayer for a while. That or they skip all dialogue and are also literally retarded.
Being able to carry someone who knows literally nothing about the game and is in terrible gear and plays aggressively through the ukanlos urgent is pretty impressive, unless they got three g crowns to do it for them or something. I've even seen players who aren't incredible twits cart to the ice beam because they weren't expecting it, and the people we're talking about are the kind of people that would still stand in front of ukanlos all the time after carting to that once.
I actually realised why people still mount wrong despite that while watching
game grumpsplay 4U. Egoraptor's fucktard girlfriend, who is pretty much the french pub everyone bitches about except american, continually gets thrown off of mounts because she doesn't hold on to the monster while it's struggling. Ego told her she has to hold r and she said "I am, it just goes too fast."
They're literally holding r and STILL MASHING A.
Because they don't think it be like it is.
But it do.
It's what you make of it. 140s are sometimes frustratingly hard, but like anything, can be whittled down into a science. The relic grind, I find, is super boring, and I really only do GQs when people post the quests in rooms. They can be a good challenge, I suppose. Better maps, too.
The rest of G is all about making new weapons and making new sets and just gettin' good. If you're getting burnt out, don't feel like you can't take a break. Sometimes you need to take a break from MH. Let your skills settle. Then when you come back, it (should) be fun again.
So when are we getting a version of monster hunter where we're a small gold crown Lagombi and we have to avoid being picked on by dominant huntresses?
you've pretty much just about hit end game, end game is late G3 and guild quests. If you haven't had fun yet then it's over, end game is not fun. It's challenging and it's a horrible horrible fucking grind, even by monster hunter standards. I do kind of love it though, with some tweaks it could have been the best part of any monster hunter game
2nd gen is legit. Its just that 4babbies dont know when to hold back when attacking. 3rd gen onwards they made monsters to be more casual as they shift to a more mainstream audience.
Remember kids, its easier to blame 2nd gen than your own skrubness.
>I'm defending monsters everybody hated and nobody wanted back because it makes me look better than you.
fixed that for you.
>3U plesioth rekd me hard

Not saying 3Ubabbies are scrubs but the previous difficulty was much higher.
Attempting to slay the Greatest of Jaggis.

Yeah, real legit difficulty right there. Once you grabbed a gun FU plesi was a goddamn chump
A lot of FU being hard is because of bullshit, like rathalos's tail damaging like a rajang punch only by touching it and damaging much less for a tailslam.
And even like that it's a good way to get good.
Lemme set up a room so /mhg/ can witness my faggotry.
>Not the best fights of the entire series
Fucking nostalgia fags can't see the perfectly tuned difficulty/fun factor of the best flagship monster this fucking series has ever fucking had.
>10 Furious Rajangs in
>Only one Ghoulish Gold Horn
Etrian general here, I'm so sorry
You enter demon mode constantly, you'd be spending more time in quickchat than fighting. Besides, even if you did it once per fight or something it would be really fucking gay, so there's your answer.
>I'd spam it before entering demon mode.
I'd love to see Rajang fisting your anus while you open your guard for a fraction of a second during battle just to shout a weeabo shout
Should've specified I was referring to mostly the Shagaru hunt.
Mines are a fun and fair factor.
Yeah well I try to not take forever in these fights so I gotta stay right in front of the head most of the time. Makes these hunts very exhilarating.
That's just the spines.
The behaviour and the way you fight it since it's snake-like is very refreshing and unlike any other monster MH had. I love it.
I don't see how people get staggered by it so much, too. I lance it just fine and that weapon is meant to suffer the most from staggers/trips, no?
Assuming you meant "gold," I thought that at first, but it should have no effect on your carves / rewards. You can look up if they have a higher drop rate from Furious Rajang, though.
Speaking of moving on to other games... Now that fishing rooms are filled with chumps and nobodies what have you all moved onto?
I've been playing Yoshi's Woolly World which probably sounds as gay as two men fucking but the game is actually pretty damn fun and not gay at all.
A nice comfy game to play after months of grinding 140s for nothing good at all. Wii U best console!
>probably sounds as gay as two men fucking
Honestly, I'd be lying if I said I weren't a bit jealous of Great Jaggi. You know he's getting ALL that jaggia
and huntresstail, and they fucking love him for it. What a boss.
CQ room exploded. Found the bug for the crashing, feel free to join back in.
>Haven't really consistently soloed monsters since over 2 months

>Monsters are so slow that I eat shit on every single attack
Just kurolist my shit up.
Advanced: Dragon attack
Somebody help me before I get my first heart attack, pls. This mission is the worst I've ever seen. I'd rather fight apex rajang. I'm even in G-rank gear for gods sake, they won't give me the chance to hit and smoke bombs do fuck all.
So are all humans in the monhun universe more powerful than regular humans, or are Hunters/Huntresses paragons of humanity?
There are two types of humans. Regular, weak humans like the kind we have in our universe.
And humans descended from the elder blood in the great dragon wars, the Hunters with UNRIVALED strength.
I don't know if they ever went into the depth of how hunters got their start and what makes them different than normal people, but generally every player controlled hunter is specifically more badass than the regular lot, and that G Rank hunters are basically the Spetsnaz/SEALS/SAS of MonHun. It's very unusual for hunters to actually rank up like players do, from fighting Great Jaggi's to regularly dealing with Rajangs. Most middle out and kind of stay in one rank until retirement. Multiple NPC hunters will say they've been hunting for years and are impressed when you take out something like a Gravios.
All hunters are explicitly stated to be on some level of crazy to make a career out of, well, hunting monsters. Remember, the average person thinks a single Seltas is a big enough threat to call in extremely well armed specialists. Meanwhile hunters look at that and think "Eh, I can walk around that. Not worth a dung bomb."
Hunters are descendants of essentially, genetically modified anti-Dragon super weapons from an advanced that either started war with Elder Dragons/Wyverns or were protecting themselves from their aggression. Traits trickled down into the modern Monster Hunter; being able to overcome poisoning quickly, take fire balls to the face, swinging massive complex weaponry etc.
>Can fall from any height with no reprecussions
>Can eat an immense amount of food in mere seconds.
>Can be tossed around, hit by beasts incredible strength at great force., be hit by lethal poisons, fire balls, thunder bolts, pressurized beams of water, etc and only faint from it
>Can wield giant weapons that would be mostly too heavy/unwieldy for a normal person to use
They're something else.
>Full of concepts that predate the first game
>Explicitly state, in that same book, that they were originally going to have a much darker and higher-fantasy setting before settling on the comparatively mundane MH we have today
Would you like the parry technique from MHX to be introduced into the main series? LS seriously needs to be buffed and I think that kind of counteroffensive movement would be really useful to keep the spirit bar full.
It seriously needs another means of self defense other than evasion and what's better than something that lets you continue to be on the offensive? obviously you should take some chip damage or have to use a large part of the stamina bar to balance it so it is not so overpowered.
>LS seriously needs to be buffed
This has been talked to death.
The mechanics and moves of the LS is incredibly good barring the kind of understandable nerf to the spirit gauge.
The problem is that the 95% of 4U's LSs suck fat dick for one reason or another.
That's most videogames really, the protagonist is usually some kind of super badass which is why they're the protagonist. The world they're in may have a class of badasses but they'll still be the cream of the crop.
The weird thing about monster hunter is the time frame. The world is built up as this place where people have been hunting and surviving attacks from monsters for millennia in an ancient, somewhat anachronistic world, where it is strongly hinted a futuristic society already rose and fell and humanity is back at a roughly medieval point which is the reason for the anachronisms (this is a more common scifi/fantasy trope than people realise, since it tends to be understated in settings where it appears), and the Guild knows basically everything about everything, but in each game there's some kind of super powerful apocalyptic monster(s) that have never been heard of or were thought to be a myth up until now, despite all the games apparently happening roughly concurrently. Basically the games occur during some kind of series of last days of man when all these creatures of myth in an already hostile world are rising from the earth and being put down by equally mythical heroes. There's no sign that new crazy world-destroying shit has been discovered on a yearly basis since forever, it's something that's only been going on for like the last decade. Shit's ominous as fuck.
>Can fall from any height with no reprecussions
>Can wield giant weapons that would be mostly too heavy/unwieldy for a normal person to use
My hypothesis on these is that the gravity on the planet MH takes place on is just much lower than on Earth. Also why even lesser people like the Dundorma guards that go with the Ace Lancer to hunt Seregios can run around on foot in plate armour, and despite only elder dragons appearing to have access to magic very unaerodynamic, heavy-set wyverns like Rathalos being able to fly.
Before I got into Monster Hunter that's what I thought it was and I was absolutely giddy at the idea of hunting and tracking these rare or elusive monsters in an open world.
Sucked to find out that wasn't what it was, but I enjoy it anyway.
Witcher 3 has a system for that, its monster/contract roster is just sadly anemic. It could have been something truly beautiful if there was just more content.
Fuck I meant to look into that more but I was drunk during E3 and forgot, anyone remember what it's called?
The whole "MC is a super badass among super badasses" can just be chalked up to video game fiat, the same reason it takes killing multiple half-kilometer-long world-ending snakes to make a hat out of it, the same reason you can take down a fire-breathing dragon in 5 minutes with a dinky sword and shield, the same reason wolf down a stake twice the size of your head in a matter of seconds.
ehh, it looks neat but I see several red flags that put me off. Also
Also Thunderjaw is literally robot Jho, it's even an HP sponge with its "muscles" bulging out from under cracks in its hide. In fact a lot of the aesthetic is clearly inspired by MH, more-so than the gameplay from watching this.
>Allocating points to change your characters skills isn't a build
>Also Thunderjaw is literally robot Jho, it's even an HP sponge with its "muscles" bulging out from under cracks in its hide.
No, it's not at all based on dinosaurs. And bosses in every game aren't health sponges or anything. And only MH has monsters that have muscles.
>hunting lvl 140 zinogre
>its not going so good
>out of max potions, health low, stamina low, motivation low
>find a safe spot
>pull out my trusty BBQ spit
>roast me up a well done steak
>take out zin right afterwards
Man, sure glad I didn't forgot my hunting essentials!
Actually watch the video, dipshit. Those details are just an unusual combination of distinctive features both thunderjaw and deviljho have on top of having almost the exact same "dinosaur pickle with legs" shape, walking gait and animations.
>only MH has monsters that have muscles.
Not many monsters in MH or otherwise have bare muscles that actually bulge out of cracks in their hide.
He's just saying what's on the hud and pointing out mechanics those things indicate are in the game. "There's a compass because it's open world, there's an xp bar because there's leveling, there's a health meter so you can take some hits though it looks fucking stupid because we're trying to be artsy."
I'm astounded you're managing to fit so much stupidity in a relatively compact post. They're both muscular bipedal dinosaurs, except one is a machine. Call Ryozo, we've got a copyright infringement issue here!
But he's dressing it up so much. I realize it's for PR, but it just sounds fucking retarded.
"That number 825 is incredibly important because it means our game is an RPG!!!!" Give me a break. No wonder games are such shit if the developers think it's appropriate to treat their customers like idiots.
killing/severing the tail isn't the problem, it's that it takes like 6 fucking raths to produce one lash and I need a ton of them and I get more rubies/mantles than I do lashes
They're literally the same bipedal dinosaur. Next you're going to try to tell me that Dragomon shit isn't blatantly copying designs from MH.
Oh, I wouldn't argue his presentation is shit, I'm just saying it doesn't sound like he's stating it has those elements as selling points to me.
>They're literally the same bipedal dinosaur. Next you're going to try to tell me that Dragomon shit isn't blatantly copying designs from MH.
Give me one similarity beyond your generic bipedal, damage-sponge dinosaur and it's generic movements that quantify ripping off of MH. And for the record, "Dragomon" and Teostra are based off Chimeras. This shit is not original and you should feel ashamed.
>literally the same bipedal dinosaur
We've seen gameplay videos that show it's just a WoW clone gameplaywise. It's cartoon MH in aesthetics, down to the monster designs (and name) being unashamedly ripped off of monster hunter.
Teostra is a foo dog, not a chimera. That monster from dragomon is a teostra, not a chimera. Do you even know what a chimera is? It has three heads, one of which is a snake head that is on its tail.
It's more that while I already have a 3DS because there's several games on it that I play the only other thing that I want on PS4 is Bloodborne, which itself doesn't look as good as any of the four Souls games. Not gonna get a PS4 for two games I sort of want but not as much as other games.
Closed beta was actually fun. Now it seems like they already cut out some of those "kawaii" fairy pets but I was able to drop every monster as mount so far. You see all the "inspired" shit from monster hunter but its okay for an mmo I guess.
Hunting horns suck though.
Not all chimeras are the same, numbnuts. Look at Dark Souls' chimera. Looks way more like Teostra than a Foo Dog. Time to sue From Software, right? You're still avoiding the question.
And since I used up my image in that post on another dragomon oc donut steel, I'll bite on that.
No? I said "fuck," not "it's shit." I'm disappointed it's on a system I do not have and do not plan to get because it means I'm less likely to try it and potentially find out that it's a game I really like. Not a difficult concept to understand, numbnuts.
>forgot to post the image
Do you mean the Sanctuary Guardian?
G crown whatever.
Grinding up a Zin/Jho GQ from early 100 if y'all don't care what's posted
or want Wroggi waists
It's semi-free combat you faceroll on your buttons and dodge stuff on your own. Mage or in my case hunting horn feels pretty generic which is sad. I liked the cleric/monk class and it felt pretty good but there's still tab-targeting.
Not-chameleos is actually pretty cute.
With these many giant lizards I am suprised we don't have a giant crocodile in MH yet.
You might want to consider using more weapons on the side. You're going to need tails for armor anyways, you may as well invest in a Blademaster weapon as well.
The game's all about the weapons. Experiment. You might have fun with something you never considered before.
Until money becomes less of a concern you might want to use LBG with rapid fire for the ammo you want, it's (usually) less damage per second but much more damage per zenny. Also use supply ammo when possible in low rank. In G rank quest rewards get pretty high and you can also sell off common monster materials for large amounts of money so ammo cost becomes completely trivial, only weapon costs really matter at that point. You can sell common monster materials at any point but always keep at least ten or so of a given part in case you need it later and be aware low rank parts aren't worth much individually most of the time.
Slicing S is just fine for cutting tails. Bow, hammer and HH aren't so fortunate, and have to use boomerangs.
Then it's a
girl in my heart
