Have a wall of autism
lazily reposting the shitty guide on how to add custom music to sm4sh 3ds updates
9.2 or below only though
update music won't overwrite any base game tunes
you can replace dlc stage music
installing a comparatively smaller update would probably be a bit faster than reinstalling the entire game every time you want to add new music
once you did the extraction thing rebuilding an update from the extracted assets is somewhat easily done
Spacing is the most important part of playing Ike, it's super important to learn the range of all your moves so you can space them properly and use them in the best way possible. A good thing to do to a shielding opponent is to do a fastfall nair at max range so you get enough shieldpush that when they try to punish you (8 times out of 10 it's a grab) you can dtilt them and immediately fair them, it's pretty useful but don't really use it against characters with tether grabs because you'll get grabbed every time.
Anyone else want to play? NNID ProfessorKokonoe
>watching pokemon stream
remove fucking genies. someone give me a smash stream to watch, I need to see Pikachu/Fox/Sheik

here you go senpai
How much longer until Inkling reveal?
anyone for a couple 1v1 matches on 3ds? Haven't been here in awhile did anyone get gud?
Guess it just wasn't mean to be today.
It was fun while it lasted.

I know I've got what it takes to become a competitively successful fighting game character! I just need to train hard, and grow up strong!
Yeah, too bad about the microlagging. I wondered what that was about.
Good games. I think I'm getting better against you. At least I'm not getting 2 stocked lol.
You're incredible at playing ganondorf so efficiently and are excellent at proper punishes!
i broke the tip of my middle finger at work today, so i can't use my wii u pro controller :^)
Don't float wildly. Know matchup specific float heights as well. Use turnips to scare your opponent into shield and floats/grabs to scare them out of shield. Learn percents for dair follow ups and how to capitalize off of turnips. Grind out float cancels in the air and ground level to optimize your movement options.
Dark.Pch and EOE have a lot of tutorials on youtube, watch them.
i rarely use ness in friendlies anymore tyvm
i am always with you in spirit, anon
Are there any extra steps for getting the Ethernet connection to work? I got the usb device and connected it in the settings but I can't get online in game says there's a connection issue
Did you set the wired connection as the default one and deleted the wireless one? I used to have problems with it at first but just unplugging the usb and plugging it back in fixed it.
gggggs, was fun. your villager is remarkably aggressive, which i really enjoyed. and yeah villager's grab is pretty shit.
>villager will never have a good grab
naw, villager is MUCH better when he's aggressively zoning. it's just that 99% of villagers automatically go into turtle/timeout mode and try to cheese their wins, which isn't really a character that can effectively do that (sonic, pac-man, etc).
From what I can gather, he might suffer from some sort of anxiety thing. So I'm guessing when his suitcase got stolen, he pretty much lost it for the whole weekend, only focusing on the bad things. The problem at the airport was just icing on the cake
I know that feel pal.
>secondary is ZSS
That sounds delicious. The tears make me harder than any blond big tittied space lady ever could.
So how was hanging out?
I'm borrowing this thread.
What do you all think of Ryu's inclusion in Smash Bros? Underwhelming? Or is he the greatest newcomer to the series?
The best DLC character so far, newcomers are always better than veterans. Not the greatest of the newcomers thought but he's pretty decent in that regard.
Still one of the best character in the game so none of that even matters.
SF is a shitty boring UGLY franchise, Ryu is a boring character, and he does not deserve to be in smash. I hate that he's DLC in this game but I love that they actually gave him a ton of moves and SF input mechanics.
I'm starting to think vinnie is just an all around whiney bitch
>says he might quit smash because of miigality bs
>people donate $1000 fucking dollars to his ass and he's still crying
Seriously, what the fuck?
he just doesn't realize people take what he says too seriously, but yeah, he's being a bitch.
Played at a smashfest today and played a for fun bracket and doubles, highly recommend for people to play with friends from weeklies, great practice and much funner than the crowded weeklies or laggy online games.
>my last smashfest literally all day never put down the controller
>happiest I'd been in months
wish my region wasn't so dead so I could do that more
I haven't played Street Fighter in years nor got into it to learn stuff but goddamn don't think I would lose to that sort of shit also fuck you
When's Karin? I need my ohohohos
>tfw dittos with your main is the most unfun and stressful thing ever
What dittos are actually fun? Only ones I've truly enjoyed are FE swordfights, Villager and Ganondorf. Sheik dittos are kinda fun to play but total shit to watch.
Yeah this, local tournies are fine and all but I dont think its wise to rely on JUST tournaments for offline practice, you gotta actually make friends or stay around super late every tourney to play friendlies after
Jigglypuff dittos make me realize how much of a meme character puff is
Diddy dittos are a 60:40 for the the other diddy
Marth dittos are fun, Mario dittos are fun,
Random dittos are the funnest
read the roll, literally the first thing you learn 3DS era.
marcina dittos are shit cause nobody wants to commit. The real worst dittos are Rosalina and Olimar.
Mario, Fox, Falco, Diddy, Charizard, Ryu, Yoshi, and Wario dittos are top tier.
smash and chill anon? post region
>stay around super late every tourney to play friendlies after
Does your local not have friendlies before the tournament? Even if I'm not participating in the actual competition I'll still be one of the first to show up every week to play friendlies for a couple hours.
>still no ballot news
Honestly Vinnie is being a giant faggot about this whole situation, our comunity helped him as much as we could and treated him like a fucking family member just out of pure respect and sportsmanship (and because we liked the guy enough and felt bad for him), and all he fucking does is ramble around over how much of a faggot he is and how shit we treated him despise absolutely everyone except him demostrating the opposite about that.
He's just shitting on our super small community for no reason.
He's just salty he lost against Leo.
vinnie got robbed in mexico at tourney
community helped him out big time
apparently people made fun of him at the tourney
goes on a bitchfit on social media/reddit/some shit about how shit the community is and how he deserves better or something because he has no balls
This is autism. Not 4chan "lel autistic XDD" autism, no. This is legitimate, medical grade autism. This is what mothers everywhere fear when they find out they're pregnant. This is what gets put up for adoption because parents "aren't ready for this type of responsibility". This is what Midwest American idiots think comes as a result of vaccination. This is what kills families. This is what kids think of when they hear "slow". This is fucking autism.
Anyone want to play?
Truly the wisest man in the Smash community.
He didn't lost to Leo
Leo fucking raped him, he read him hard the last 2 games, it was total fucking destruction.
Ally really is the best part about this drama shit
He doesn't gives a damn and calls out Vinnie for being an ungrateful bitch
>>We'll never have a true successor to Smash 64
Funny thing is that Nairo was on the twitch of the mexican tourney's stream and the entire Leo vs Vinnie match he said things like "yeah, vinnie is not going to win", "vinnie has no chance" "he chokes really bad and it's showing"
Fuck Nairo, I'll follow the real bro tier smasher now. Joining the rude Canadian up smash plumber army.
Are you looking for a beatdown?
Watch them during the match to see the pattern and when they like to roll/which direction.
Force the situation that they like to roll in and instead of attacking, go to where the roll will end instead of where they're standing. Then pick your punish.
Well, sometimes I could catch the samus rolling towards me, but it was 50/50 if the samus would roll backwards or forwards. Or throw out the grab as a mix-up.
I had trouble punishing the rolls since samus would just jab out of the roll if you run after the roll.
>can't punish before the FAF of the roll
you playing Robin senpai? Between when the roll starts and ends, you have 40+ frames to position yourself. Nearly half of that she's vulnerable to the punish. And when you roll you're always facing the direction you rolled from.
no, by the time it's ending very easily since samus' roll takes quite some time.
Might still take practice or at least some time until you gain awareness to watch out for rolls
Frame data m8
When she starts the roll, frame 1-3 you can hit her but there is no chance you'll react and catch that. Frame 4-23 she's intangible. Frame 24-40, she can't do anything at all and you can hit her. Her fastest option after is shield which can be grabbed anyway. For 2 more frames of startup she can jab or spot dodge I guess.
Fuck I didn't know how much vulnerability samus has at the end of the roll.
Hey, I got another questions since we're talking about frame data. What's the start up frames for jumping in the air? I mean, after you get thrown and want to avoid a followup, I can tell air dodging comes out faster then jumping, but what is the frame data for air dodging vs jumping?
Jumping comes out faster. The thing is, the first few frames of the jump might not be the fastest acceleration to get you out of the combo. Watch Ness double jump, at the start he does a whole windup so someone chasing you could intercept that. Then watch Greninja double jump and he's halfway to the top of the screen in a few frames. Yoshi's is slow but he gets a bit of armor so it's okay.
Exact frame data for air dodges though varies. The fastest air dodge, Mewtwo comes out frame 2. The average air dodge comes out frame 3 (this is also the baseline for a move to be called a combo breaker, a hitbox/armor/intangibility on a move that starts frame 3 or earlier becomes as useful for getting out of combos as an airdodge) and the slowest air dodges, Dedede/Jigglypuff/etc come out frame 4.
Know your opponent though, the Sheik "50/50" exists because you can air dodge or jump after the down throw, but her double jump is usually faster than yours and she can still catch you with the up air. Her vanish's startup or delayed double jump up air will catch the air dodge.
My main can just down b and get away scott free
>Jumping comes out faster.
So what's the frame data on this "jump squat" in the air?
Is it listed here: http://kuroganehammer.com/Smash4/Samus
I'm confused since I always thought air dodging is faster then jumping in the air to avoid a grab followup...
hahaha get fukd
She's fun m8
The jump squat is how long it takes to get off the ground. Your character squats down when you input the jump, and at the end of the jump squat frames, your character is in the air and you can input aerials. During the jump squat frames, you're still on the ground and can do jump-cancelled things like up smash or up b. In the air jump comes out in one frame, it's how fast that particular character rises that decides how well it can escape combos. 2-3 frame after your jump, if your character doesn't rise fast enough, they can still get clipped by the opponents follow up where an air dodge will quickly put you in the safety (unless you get read af)
I'm pretty sure Aerodrome is the one who decided on those "stats". Huge memer.
Thanks. Is it true you can input an air dodge earlier than you can input an air jump out of the hitstun from a throw?
It really seems that way when you mash the shield or jump buttons, but I haven't researched it.
Buffer window is 9 frames. If you input a jump or an air dodge within the last 9 frames that you are in hitstun, it'll come out the first frame that you are out of hitstun. In brawl you could buffer a bunch of things at once like down throw, buffer jump and up air so both will be frame perfect. In melee you couldn't buffer and you had to be frame perfect on these types of things. In sm4sh, there's input priority. Special is higher priority than air dodge, air dodge is higher than attack, and attack is higher than jump. So if you press A, Y, R, and B in the buffer window, special is highest priority so the B input will come out. (this is actually used in option selects but that's kinda advanced)
Main thing to know from that is last 9 frames of hitstun you press jump or air dodge, if you press both air dodge comes out.
Oh, so air dodge and air jump both come out equally as fast after you are thrown?
I mean mashing shield after being thrown vs mashing jump after being thrown come out at the same time, correct?
I swear it looks like air dodging comes out faster, but I haven't looked into it...
Yes. Same speed. Air dodge has 1-3 frames of startup where you're vulnerable but after that the intangibility starts. The first 1-3 frames of a jump might not take you high enough to get you out of the hit so it looks like the jump didn't come out (people knocked off stage during exchange this often say they lost their jump). You have to watch for the halo under the feet of your character that signifies the jump input came out.
It was only in Brawl that you could end hitstun faster. After (I think) 13 frames of hitstun, you could just air dodge and the hitstun is over. Removed in smash 4.
sure, I'll be xaltis. Cuter than nick riddle anyway.
No problem. I often write essays for sm4sh/melee if I'm awake during dead hours. Gearing up for sleep now though.
Oh, I got one more question.
Sometimes when someone hits my shield, and I try to do a jump canceled upB out of shield, I end up only doing the jump.
I guess this has to do with shield stun, but what's the mechanics behind why only the jump registered and not the upB?
Jump cancels the shield in one frame and puts you in the jump squat. which is why if you really quickly press jump>up b, the progression is shield>jump squat>up b
If you are under shield stun though, you can't jump out of shield. You can however still buffer the jump. I mentioned you can only buffer one input though, so that's why the jump is buffered, but the up b isn't. (input priority doesn't apply to this situation since the up b isn't registered while you're still in shield, only during the jump squat frame) This wasn't a problem when shield stun was low since you you had to be ridiculously fast to input both jump and up b during the tiny amount of shield stun but now it's actually not too uncommon.
If you buffer the jump you can still do the up b but only during jump squat frames. The timing is tight though since you might stay in shield for a few frames after the jump input, and will only be in the jump squat for a few frames. That little delay would probably be unappreciated by anyone not familiar that it existed but it's a pretty cool timing trick.
>The timing is tight though since you might stay in shield for a few frames after the jump input, and will only be in the jump squat for a few frames.
So the number of frames for the jump squat is still the same right? You're just saying you have to have a good reaction speed to quickly input upB in the jump squat after the shield stun ends? And inputting upB before shield stun does nothing since you can't upB without jumping first and it doesn't buffer?
Man, I never knew this stuff.
Unless you do the jump canceled up b after the shield stun. You can input jump during shield stun, then wait for shield stun to end and then you'll get your normal 4-8 frames of jump squat (based on character) where you can input the up b.
I only know this because I take a children's party game a bit too seriously. Interest in things like pokemon and programming keep me studying mechanics.
Fuck that makes UpB out of shield HARDER for zelda. Basically the latest update NERFED zelda's best kill option. Fuuuuck.
Thanks though. I'm almost interest in this mechanics stuff since I do programming too
>been playing street fighter for a while
>literally said he was baiting smash players
He's still at the point where he sucks shit at it. Also he obviously at least mildly meant what what he said, he just went "I was only pretending guise" master ruseman just like everyone does to make themselves look good.
>Wii Fit Trainer will never invite you to jog
>You will never

Life sucks. Drop out.
>wii fit trainer will never invite you to eat out

bruh im broke/hungry af right now
>letting the female pick up the bill
>mfw someone used the tag I Eat For My Friends at my local a few weeks ago
I wish I could go on a lunch date with Ike too.
Where do you think he likes to eat anyways?
what did he eat to get so big
Honest characters (characters that rely on fundamentals, if you win with them you've truly outplayed your opponent)
Pit/Urban Youth Pit
Dishonest characters (Characters that rely on stupid gimmicks to win, no fundamentals required, their gimmicks are strong enough to the point that they can allow a lesser player to beat a greater player)
Rosalina (literally the most dishonest character in fighting games)
He hasn't been impersonated in like, months. It was a one time thing of some guy sperging out on everyone. Of course he could come back but in the meantime he hasn't posted in a while.
Finally I'll have an use for this ugly Amiibo, Palutena and the Fire Emblem characters really got horrible ones.
>tfw Mewtwo and Falco come out this month
>wake up early
Don't know if I like this. Might be a long shot, but is anyone up for dubs?
It's less about fashion and more about customization and creativity. People who love customization will most likely love this, and being able to make your own stuff is a bonus as well. And your store is literally an online store where people purchase things, you don't get real money of course but it's still nice to share everybody's creations like that. The source functions are incredibly detailed, so it's not like Mario Maker that nobody will ever find your stuff unless they randomly get it in the 100 Mario Challenge. The actual fashion parts are honestly the weakest parts of the games for me, but they are not that present at all.
Okay, one more for dubs then. I'll boot up my wii u once we got another.
>guy with a roblox avatar
>someone get etika!
how do we destroy the smash community in one go
so much for getting some use out of dsmash more than once a month
>only one request
Maybe you already had me added, who are y-
Alright, hosting in a sec.
still wanting to play video games
>even anther's players don't want to fight
>2 walk offs in a row
Are we meme dubs now?
Not like I haven't been itching for some yoshi's island.
>play luigi, toon link, and sonic on project M
lol get mad kid
How is luigi gimmicky, cuz you got bodied with a misfire?
Also most disjointed hitboxes and projectiles cancel out sonic's b button options, if your counter pick isn't trash you can beat sonic
To be fair I can see how Toon Link is gimmicky, but they are hard gimmicks to learn.
Don't expect to win. You may be really good and kick everyone's ass in friendlies, but chances are they're sandbagging/ the better players in the scene don't want to play friendlies/ aren't there yet. Watch your controllers, label them, and if the T.O (tournament organizer) asks, bring a set up it will usually reduce your admission price, and you make homies quicker.
The trashman is here to remove anime from Smash.
Welp, guess we're done then. GGs dubs, it was fun while it lasted.
/ss/ is boring desu
same level as femdom or feet
Happy birthday, hope you some how manage to have a good one.
>Feet in the same breath as either
Anon, you've offended me. Like what you will if it makes you happy.
Happy Birthday Rakkyy!
Have you watched it yet?
Don't take my stock at high damage, you slut. Haven't earned it.
Fuck you, you took my stock the previous match. Fair is fair. Hope you enjoyed that beating I gave you in the 1v1.
>All this drama
We esports now
In all honesty Vinnie is on the wrong side but I can see why Getting all your shit stolen in mexico of all places would make your mind focus on that despite all the good that happened after. There are proven psychological effects of theft which were probably affecting him the whole time. He should've held off on the tweets before his mind was together.
Not like I would go to a mexican tournament before all this happened anyway
Care to find out whether or not that's true, you bitch?
You never asked. We'll have our matches tomorrow or something, count on it.
Tipped Off in two days hype, gonna make it out of my pool hype
>getting hit by the Combo Cannon's cannonball on halberd
Still around for dubs? Only now came home. I need some video games, I feel so worn out.
>Losing to Halberd
