If you have to ask, you can't do it.
>I just started, what should I do?
Do the Opportunities then find the Career Agents & run all of their missions; they give you ISK, ships, skillbooks and teach you basics. Talk to players and try to find a corp. The game is only as boring as you are.

So if I go exploration to pay the bills early on, get cheap shit and pilfer lowsec? Always got blapped in null. Should I be a faggot and stick to high or is that almost no profit? Or should I bother trying to go incursion?
I plan to ultimately join low/null, but while starting off plan to stick with high if I can. What do. Also which of the four factions to be part of?
I came back after mroe than a year off. My POS is still up in space but i've read somewhere that they cant be used anymore and that they will be replaced by some sort of mini stations?
low is probably the most consistent, null is alright, but unless you know where to go, you'll probably be spending more time dodging bubbles and shit than actually doing any explo
one of these days, i'm going to win the lottery, and when i do, i'm gonna fit an inty with 12 PLEX each week and zoom around
or get a group of like 50 folks together, get 'em in a shuttle, pack 'em with PLEX and have them all swarm out of Jita for anyone to pick off
ah fuck me, i can't read for shit tonight
no, you're pretty safe, beyond the usual gate camps and shit
as long as you can cloak in under a second after jumping through to the other side of the gate, you're good
i mean, the worst you'll have is maybe an instalock scrambler trying to camp the gates, but if you only show up for less than a second, you're fine
if you're fairly new-ish to cloakies, remember that the cloaking/de-cloaking animation is misleading. it looks like it takes a couple of seconds, but you're actually visible on dscan and overview the instant you start decloaking, so the moment your ship moves, hit that cloak again
yeah, pretty much
just don't get into the habit of jumping gate to gate
once you enter null and have to worry about bubbles, people will set up dragbubbles to catch lazy people who gate-gate jump
every now and then just jump to a clear moon nearby and try practicing dscanning gates (make sure your overview is set up properly, don't use the retarded defaults)
shiiit, i remember that feeling of getting into my first helios
but yeah, you've got the idea
my steps are usually as follows
dscan 360 max
dscan 30 at nearest planet/moon
if clear, 100km
the instant i uncloak, launch probes, then cloak up again while warping (you can technically just not cloak while warp if you want to reload your probe launcher)
while you're still in warp, probe scanner, and send 'em out far from the system (at least 15AU if you don't want your probes showing up on other dscan)
you should be able to do this before you land from your warp to the planet/moon/whatever
if all goes well, you only show up for at most a second, and your probes show up for maybe 2 seconds
get your scanning skills up and practice scanning things down quickly
remember that for most Data/Relic sites, they're located within 3AU of planets/moons/sun/etc. use that knowledge to focus your probes quickly. once you manage to scan something to 100%
>bookmark it (it'll come in handy as a safe later)
>dscan it at 15 (if in range and ther are others in local)
>jump to it at 20km (if it's clear, doesn't really matter, but i do it just to make sure it's clear)
be sure to keep local visible in case anyone enters, have your dscan 360 at 2-3AU in case anyone is trying to scan you down as well
for me, i like to refresh dscan every 5 nodes of any site i'm hacking
as a cloakie, it's not THAT risky if you just jump somewhere and then slowboat straight up or down or whatever
but desu, bouncing is always a good habit in hostile territory, it's a habit that i've learned early on during FW and it's saved my ass in null many times
>mfw when the acronym for "to be honest" filters to "desu"
this actually sounds pretty interesting;
running around, cloaking up all the time, dropping probes and looking for high value loot while trying not to get blapped. sounds a lot more fun than running missions in high sec.
Is there a guide to this online anywhere?
And the short form of family turns into senpai.
Cuvk (v = c) turns into kek.
The acronym shaking my head turns into baka.
Thanks a lot for the help with cloaking. It'll come in very handy.
You know what's more fun family? FW where you can actually make money while PvPing.
Shame I don't want to leave my corp.
baka desu senpai
Guess we've enlightened one another today
yeah, it's pretty fun, but the minigame does get kind boring after a while, honestly
it's something that everyone with cloaking v at least try a couple of times, it if weren't that stupidly long training time, i'd recommend it to everyone
there are some good guides online, most are outdated when it comes to specifics, but the general gist of always keep local open, dscan properly, and stay on your toes is standard
i'm gonna get shit for it, but i started out by reading guide on /r/eve over on reddit to get the general idea, and the rest of the shit i learned through experience
oh, and be sure to invest in some good fits if you wanna get serious, the good shit is usually locked up in Sleeper caches, you can make like 20m easy with a single cache, but you need a scan strength of over 110 to most of those
i did some FW in minnie space, it was pretty fun shit talking amarr, had a bunch of good back and forth going on around Huola earlier this year, but damn Amarr FW guys don't fuck around, lol
i remember they brought like fucking 20 svipuls and raped us all
you definitely see a lot more action with FW, especially if you take the time to join the FC's teamspeaks, just introduce yourself, no need to chat if you don't want, but listening to the FC's commands will save your ass more often than not
So this exploration thing sounds pretty neat, but it also sounds like you need a cloak to not get blown to shit in either lowsec hunting or WHs. Would it be pretty suicidal to go with just, like, a magnate?
pvp, the only pve bit you get is when you take on the rat that spawns on the beacons
but no, the idea is that you want to control various beacons around a system to give control to your faction, takes like 5-20 minutes or so to cap a beacon (they're more commonly called plexes, short for complexes) and they come with a rat that guards the beacon
what this basically does is focus the pvp into these complexes, one faction wants to cap it, the other wants to defend it
you have novice, small, medium, and large plexes, they have limits on which ships can enter (everything can enter a large plex), i forget exactly what can or can't enter the novice, small and med
yeah yeah, i know, fuck me, it's been a rough night, can't read for shit, forgetting simple shit, wtvr
but yeah, Cloaking IV, get covops cloak ii, don't cheap out, covops cloak ii is the only one that'll let your warp while cloaked
Well fuck. I just realized I need to add 5more days to my skill queue before I can use my cheetah because I only trained cloaking to III.
Pretty much. It's like capturing the flag with PVP and PVE last I heard.
You could also do exploration in high sec. It would be a bit riskier in low sec and the T1 exploration frigs don't have the scan and hacking bonuses.
>cloaking III is enough
That's what EFT told me.
Cloaking is not needed to fly covert ops ships.
>Would it be pretty suicidal to go with just, like, a magnate?
yes it'd be
risk vs reward
a magnate costs 1,5 mil, 1mil is the cloak so it's basically peanuts
a good lowsec can can worth 20mil, in WH that goes waaaaay up
I was told that hisec explo is basically worthless. I guess it'd make things easier given that my stats are garbage, though.
True. I guess a couple planets can provide enough baseline to not make that so much to worry about.
i mean, practice is always good
even if there's no risk in high sec, get into the habit of dscanning while you're hacking, make sure your windows are set up so you can always see local
get into the habit of quickly setting bookmarks/safes, hotkeys for everything, etc.
the loot you get is shit, the experience is valuable
>some fucking sperg last thread bitches that Waffles is 3elite5him because a recruiter didn't like his shit
>decides to change his mind middle of the evaluation process (takes like 4-5 days to get through everything)
>obviously has an ulterior motive and doesn't tell what really happened that he was a fucking sperg
>made a bunch of bullshit assumptions that he was treated unfairly and assumed that another recruiter would come in and cuddle him to sleep
>whined when people told him not to be a shitty sperg shitter
>We apologize for the delay in this response, but we are currently seeing a heavy load of incoming support tickets. We have granted you 3 days of game time as compensation.
The vouch is a pretty good shitfilter. Someone within the corp provides a vouch for your person, character, general "not a fucking retard" check. The Vouch is pretty hard to get though as the person giving it puts their membership on the line for it.
So yea I'd fully believe in it especially when they don't just give them out willy nilly
The sperg and the sperg about sperg in this all over EVE is absolutely disgusting. Just fucking bashing people all fucking day. No friendship. People jump through fucking hoops to find shit to call each other out on to fuel their own superiority complex. It's fucking devastating.
Feels really good not being part of an alliance or a big corporation. Me, I know people in my corp for almost 9 years, ever since I played. Met eachother IRL too and went on various trips. I'm a lucky guy. Had I joined a different corp I would have never met them and I would have turned just as bitter and powerhungry and deceptive as the people you speak about.
Even at fanfest I met some hostile people, mittani getting dickriders from left and right, alliances hooping up with eacother around areas, it wasn't a pretty sight. eveamsterdam was fun though, but a little too drunk for me.
People will go to very far limits to do some dickerish shit in game and outgame, and call that 'ambition' Don't fall for it.
Lucky, damn jealous. If I had even a small group of friends in EVE it wouldn't bother me so much.
But when your live is shit and the place you try to escape to is shit, it really brings you down, especially when that escape is the only thing you have the motivation to try to better.
Honestly it's one of the main reasons I resubbed. Hoping that I could find some sort of enjoyable social aspect within the game that I don't have in real life. While I've met lots of dudes that I would consider cool people, there are none that I would consider friends. Giving up making friends IRL and in game.. it's a pretty pathetic situation.
CSM 10 has not be working so far. can we get people who aren't part of the megabloc or youtubers hydra/PL whatever not be in CSM?

I'm trying to sort out a fleet comp of armor brawlers with 3 utility mids each. how the fuck do I distribute all the tackle, ewar and remote boosts for different numbers in fleet? shit's complicated.
>We are working on a solution to this problem and hope to resolve it early next week.
T-Thanks, Brain in a Box.
How healthy is the player population these days? Is the game dying or thriving?
Here's a graph from a dev blog released a few days ago
I'd imagine some big battle happened around that time that brought new players to the game, then they noticed the game isn't like the stories and left.
Might also have been some changes at the time. I'm not good with remembering past events.
The fuck is going on?
I hate this new probe shit but I want to keep the new dscan because hotkey.
How are you supposed to move this shit?
It's impossible to see now that they changed the data but the drop was in 2013. There was a big battle in January 2014 and it spiked back up due to publicity then it rapidly dropped back to where it was before and kept going down.
Pic is from August 2014 and you can see what I'm talking about.
nah, it started doing that on its own, also the arrows to move it around are sometimes missing, what AM I missing?
I also sometimes get 100% scans on ships and I can't warp to them.
I really don't get it.
it is a bug that make it act like you have your alt key pressed. i experienced it about equally with the old map too. press shift to unstick it and go back to normal.
They also don't have the capacitor for running beams, as they use gobs more capacitor than pulses
which is funny because even with the 50% bonus to capacitor usage (if that laser ship even gets one lel) lasers use 50% MORE capacitor than hyrbid guns do
now make an edit with dogs superimposing each and other character, ship
also r8 my POS bashing ship
I intend to fly with weapons and damage mods offlined then swap once I found a target
>censors his name
whats the matter punk?
>Heck, is it useful on any caps, either?
Capital ships? not really, the capital reppers heal way more than the XLASB's
remove the brust aerator and the collision accelerator, you're stacking really hard against 4 other gyro stabs, your returns are worthless in that regard, just put on more tank rigs
somewhere between paint and saving the file it lost the censor
oh running them dry? no of course not, the amount you heal is so much worse
but people get away with the massive capacitor cost by using their 9 charges, then immediately burn a 10th "free" charge at the expense of burning like 1000gj or 800gj or what ever it is of capacitor. since the 11th cycle most likely won't go off, it'll stop just in time before making your cap go to zero and you get a "free" 10th boost off of it.
all those rigs do stack with the gyro stabilizers and do have the same stacking penalties associated with them.
*mwds behind you*
*does 20,000 damage in 6 seconds*
I just realized that super-dps close range fleets are going to become fucking hilarious when the AOE MJD destroyers are added. Imagine an entire fleet of these being MJD'd on top of your t3d blob.
By the time you land the T3Ds are already 80kms away you goddamn retard.
And if the close range fleets have MJD destroyers so does the kiting fleet, and while all this jumping is happening the kiting fleets are applying dmg with impunity.
And good luck MWDing that gross shit with 4 plates around anything short of a capital, 77kehp, good luck getting killed by a confessor. or a garmur.
Stop with your super shit polarized fits, nobody is impressed and we all think you're a goddamn retard.
how autistic do you have to be that something this simple churns you up into a frothing rage
what made you this kind of person? did your girlfriend get fucked by the football team or something? parents beat you?
I could ask you the same question, what made you this kind of person that would shit nothing but complete mega shitfits all day long?? did your girlfriend get fucked by the football team or something? parents beat you?
>Somebody drops market prices for shits and giggles
Picture any ship that gets a shield boost cycle while very low on hull. If at that point any incoming damage bleeds, he will go to 0 hull and blow up. With TSM V, the bleed can't happen and he will only die if the damage was higher than the remaining shield+hull.
The "shield recharge" argument that's always thrown around is a meme for several reasons. For starters, at the point your shield can start bleeding you are below your peak recharge, so any gains will be minimal. On top of this, bleeding chance is very low, which means the one hit that bleeds will give you at best a couple seconds until the next hit lands and kills your recharge. Ebin gainz you got there. But tell me about your math anon.
>Picture any ship that gets a shield boost cycle while very low on hull. If at that point any incoming damage bleeds
its not 5% of damage penetrates its a 5% chance any damage at all penetrates
>The "shield recharge" argument that's always thrown around is a meme for several reasons.
Its not a meme, thats literally how it works because the chance of it getting TWICE bled through is literally 1/400
>25% at TSM 0
which no one runs because you need TSM4 for the T2 invulns and shit
>exactly the bleed is not consistent and that makes recharge irrelevant
the assumption was that if and when there is bleed damage, your shield takes less damage which means it can tank harder.
Convince me not to re-sub
I think I need the help of one of those gambling centers
Pls send help ;_; I'm poor NEET and I shouldn't be spending money on vydya games. I won't even have money for Christmas present I'm not begging just send some physician
Let's say i want on the Incursion gravy train, what's a good ship to commadeer?
I got BS 5 and related skills for Missile and Drones (i use Rattlesnake, most of the time) and i have logi skills
do not attempt to use
>raven (of any kind)
do attempt to use
>vindicator (hyperion or rokh first if necessary)
>machariel (maelstrom first if necessary
>nightmare (some navy issue >amarr battleship first if necessary, i forget which one)
if you want to logi you must have
>either logi 4 or 5
>either basilisk or scimitar
What turret specialty should I train?
>best against shield tank
>no ammo/no reload/swap delays
>it's the most straightforward type, all optimal almost no falloff
>just stay in range and shoot things
>mixed damage type, meaning it may always be halved
>half reload/swap relay
>feasible cap usage
>extreme long ranges, extreme short ranges (with skyhigh untanked DPS)
>very situational, depending on ship types and tactics
(I don't know much)
>naturally best towards armor tank, somehow gets a bit of omnidamage for balanse )))))
>full reload/swap delay
>no cap usage
>autocannons have high dps but rely mostly on falloff; artillery also relies on falloff
>if you like a RNG gameplay
the hybrids, purely because they're used most often in all sorts of shit
I wouldn't choose lasers purely because they're amarr exclusive ships, the ships have bad capacitor, and no mid slots.
with hybrids you can do caldari or gallente
don't join these fuckers
>brave anything , that includes brave squid or noobies
>all-out or any fucking meme corp
the sky is your limit
also don't join goons they're shit
we can't really tell you what to train unless you have an idea of what you are going to try to do with it.
You missed that artillery has the best alpha by far. This makes it good for, among other things, large fleets where you are able to drop ships before their logi can react to save them (if you are in null) or ganking high-tank pinatas in hisec before concord arrive in the safer systems. Also, projectiles in general have the best damage selection by far - but because of their ability to hit any resist hole, their damage is comparatively lower than other systems. If you don't learn the resists of various ships and your (many) ammo types, you will simply have lower damage than other people.
if you are wanting to learn to pvp in any setting but nullblob (so, solo, small gang, gang, etc), ditching turrets entirely in favor of missiles means you don't have to think about tracking or transversal at all, allowing you to concentrate on and learn other things (of which there are plenty to keep track of).
I can't really comment on hybrids or lasers because I don't use hybrids yet and I only use lasers on confessors so far.
>working for bank of america is shit
>working for mcdonalds
>working for amtrak is shit
>DO WORK FOR
while you might be correct, you are not being very helpful
also what do you want to do and how old are you

I already am on the path of drones and missiles, but I figured you just need a turret spec
I'm thinking of going for the jackdaw and - the new corax T2 is most likely gonna be rails right?
I'm already feeling it.
The dreamy music, the interface in >Amarr market, that sense of unlimited possibilities when I gaze on the ISIS
This is what I missed. Best 15€ ever.
Still I'm like a drugo and I should seek professional help
doesn't have to be a different account, of course. you could pause your queue and start rolling a character on the same account designed to make money. it's about 2 months to make a WTM-acceptable character. I get a kick out of station trading so honestly I'd do that though.
>one of the requirements is that you have some way of making money that is not PVE on your waffles character.
Which is why everyone has an alt to do secondary content with PVE or what ever for their money
The main in Waffles cannot do PVE what so ever they definitely look down at it.
the waffles character has to be the PVP main
you could drop a plex on a secondary character besides your main on the second account, train up all your station trading skills, give it a little money to invest in, and trade on margins, that makes a lot of money exponentially the more you make the more you invest.
If you're not down for waffles go join Pandemic Horde, they're FAR more friendly in the PVE regard and they do a lot of operations with Waffles
Yea, if you ever want to get on Waffle Ops, get IRC and stuff set up, they should have guides to that really easy so you can get content virtually 23/7
I'm not kidding, Waffles is so stupidly active they get fights at almost every waking moment
yeah if you do well in PH - are proactive, find content, lead people, etc - getting into waffles later will be a cinch. from there, same applies again (but more so) about getting into PL.
Fucking hardly, Projectiles do shit damage in the face of blasters and their tracking is worse. The range difference doesn't fucking matter purely because hybrids push so much harder
doing an artillery ship is a gimp fit because they use so much PG
it doesn't matter "its a higher skill ceiling" the weapon system sucks
>shoot your hybrids at my t2 caldari resists bruh :^)
and lasers would be better at pummeling through your shield than EMP
did you know a hurricane with heavy pulses does more damage at longer range than autocannons do?
Took me some serious google-fu but I found it.
>medium autocannons are the top tier weapons
no they aren't, they get beat out by the other weapon systems and fozzie won't fucking touch them because he believes that selectable damage is the best thing ever.
Large weapons are great, however mediums and smalls get shit on by blasters
selectable damage is actually dank though
whats your blaster dps on 90% resists
not to mention most ships that fit projectiles are nimble enough to maintain range control and keep hybrids at range and get under laser tracking
makes the nag super dank in w-space
ded for days
>not to mention most ships that fit projectiles are nimble enough to maintain range control and keep hybrids at range and get under laser tracking
but blasters do higher damage at longer ranges than autocannons in every way
>PoS bashing when we suddenly get scouted by TISHU and Snuffed Out

>w-we might make it anon, y-you guys do have full cap right? r-ight??
>moros is close, revelation is writing his death note
>mfw 360 jump to cyno just as the sabre lands
>you can't trap the nag
It's been a few years since I was active in pvp nullsec. What are current fleet doctrines//setups? I know about the cat carriers, they still around? Anyone fly T1 BS fleets in nullsec anymore or is it all specialized or cheap/expensive shit and nothing inbetween?
sounds like null blocks are bored as fuck and are just using interesting strategy and fun ships instead of fighting for anything....
Is null so rich now that they don't need to fight for anything or fight for survival and just do lawl fights?
My guess is that everyone out there is fine with the status quo, that there is enough null for the big alliance and trying to get more wouldn't change much for the big guys. So unless some big shift in player happens and want a part of the nullsec pie, things gonna stagnate for a while
Are they going to buff BS anytime soon? I know they increased in price a lot but their capabilities are still lacking.
HACs have been better than BS for a long time, not to mention t3. But then the price difference was greater so BS were more cost effective.
so do you think because of how much harder they made it to move shit fast because of jump fatigue and the bridge changes it will limit fleet doctrine to more homogenous fleets, thus making the fleet fight more boring?
>and yet all the other ships are getting buffed and reworked.
yes we know that, but that doesn't stop them from using what already works, if a huge null alliance doesn't have a strict HAC doctrine they're probably using T3's and if they have neither of them they probably aren't a good alliance, like TEST
uh, they actually made it easier with the recent change, with get a little bit of variety but its still pain to seed new doctrines thats why most null blobs consolidate as much as possible
so nobody wants to risk anything because they know the only way they maintain their space is by not risking their core assets? So not enough fighting in nullsec because no reason and mah epeen?
Same shit different years.
Holy shit. Mining is sure gonna feel like a waste now.
>75% of null is blue to each other and the 2 major players won't fight each other due to being buddy buddy and having rmt empires to sustain
this is false
PL and Goons fight all the time, the problem there is no great big ass war is because there simply isn't any reason to go to war
but they have absolutely no reason to go to war over anything, they literally don't
Even PL admits that, there is no reason to waste all the man hours and all the man time to invade and kill off all of Deklein purely because theres no fucking reason to
I'm thinking of getting into synth booster production.
provi, they are pretty good honestly, they get picked on a lot but thats just because they do something different and are successful at it
you could do a lot worse than living there
they are also the only legal boosters in highsec
>do you have a source of materials to do it?
reading as I'm huffing gas
>do you have a facility
got an old tower sitting somewhere
>and a way to get them sold?
I'm in a carebear mission running corp and trust me I know how to sell bullshit
>I'm in a carebear mission running corp and trust me I know how to sell bullshit
the problem is that they're illegal in highsec and extremely difficult to get there without faction police fucking with you
even in a blockade runner you can be scanned by the police
>actual wormhole combat is nonexistent and awful.
no it was sort dragon who bitched so hard that PL was using extremely extensive (not even kidding, 3 or 4 different chains at a time) just to get across the universe and somehow PL going through all this stupid amount of effort was "power projection" and demanded they be nerfed or he'd tell all his shitters to unsub or something like that
It was specifically C5 to nulls, the scanners in PL found long winding Null to C5, then C5-C5-C5-C5 until they came out near where they wanted to.
These chains were often Null to C5 to some where then into another WH, out to null, fly to some other area, find a WH
upwards of 30 jumps through null and WH's combined just to get to those areas where Sort Dragon lived so they could dunk carriers in T3's and shit, and Sort dragon such a fucking pussy wouldn't drop any caps on those T3's that he bitched to hell and back
it wasn't null-null's that would be too easy, it was always C5-Null enterances
Is there a way to make a symetrical pattern with ten heads? I have to make this ugly asymetric shitshapes.
Is it even useful to start a new character nowadays, would I be too far behind.
Sold my character long ago.
To be honest, considering how much better EVE looks now compared to when it launched, it very well might.
Rendering empty space isn't very resource intensive, so they can just pour more time into the ships and stations.
I wonder when the new textures gonna come out. Zooming in isn't that much great even if the details are good.
