Man,Ricky Gervais is so fucking shit.
The combat in indivisible is patented by Square Enix, and the guy making it is going to get his ass sue'd to hell and back if he releases it.
>you can't patent rpg combat
Evidently you can, and square enix did.
> hopefully agdg will forgive my game being a hollow shell of what i said it'd be
Agdg fucking remembers. The other day I started posting progress tripfagging and said on my first post "I'll only be tripfagging progress on this game, don't worry".
A couple days later I fuck up and tripfag on the wrong post. Before I could delete it, first post after it:
> I'll only be tripfagging progress, don't worry
Some scary shit, Anon!
It's the latest jam to have finished. That's why I put it in there, anyway. Demo day and November jam should probably go up there instead though.
Why the fuck are they doing turn-based combat anyway? I mean, turn-based isn't inherently shit or anything, it just seems like completely the wrong game to be using it in.
> giving a shit what random anons think
Not much point tripfagging when you post game progress anyway though, since we'll know it's you because you're posting progress of *your game*
He also posted the same goddamn webm of some loli 3d model for days.
I'm not talking about the meme of people posting the exact same webm he posted for the following months, that meme was born for a reason. He literally made a line's worth of code progress and posted a webm of it every few hours.
> People are talking about something I don't want to talk about !!
Are you like this all the time, or do you save your whining just for us?
Draw sprites that look like those sprites, then place them in similar places to where those sprites are.
Because noone is posting shit. The thread is dead right now, so some guys start talking about some random shit and suddenly the last 20 post in are about that topic. That's just how it is.
>mfw it was outperformed by an actually honest game
that chen dev dropped his game right?
figured as much he couldnt even make proper player controller in 6 months lmao
>picking on the only functioning animedev
This post and many others in this thread smell familiar. Please stop fake leaving.
our grill vine
pic related its vine streaming demoday 4
>AGDG is in full shitpost mode as devs are stressed about Demo Day, or butthurt over their nodev status while yesdevs are about to get attention
It did look fun, and those progress updates were great for agdg. But that dev dared post in "ree steamchat" demodays so now you have this person who we all know and love and who claimed to have left a dozen times still continuing to perpetrate meaningless high school behavior and bullying while spamming his "memes" that literally nobody else uses.
See you in a few hours when some real devs post progress.
>butthurt over their nodev status while yesdevs are about to get attention
It's literally one person and we all know who. Soon his counterpart will be here. Duck and cover.
GML's syntax is super fucking easy, plus there's documentation for basically everything because of how easy it is to do things.
You could make a fully playable prototype in like a week.
It does get the job done.
Taking on another engine is commendable, if you're doing Unity you'll probably find GM a breeze.
>i dont even think you could do that in unity
Ignore this person. Everyone else does.
Yeah, we know. Everything done in Unity that wasn't done by you is just "tutorials" and "copy pastes" and "Unity asset store" shit.
Can you please answer my previous question? Why are you still here?
working on visual effects
I have no idea how this actually looks because I exclusively dev on decade-old TN panels
Tbh, I think devs are should be given a pass if they feelpost after releasing something. You're really putting yourself out there when you release a demo. You're vulnerable, like an confused calf wadding into piranha infested water.
Waifu games never make it.
-Game on a custom built engine
-Full 3D games
I know these are all dead in the water as soon as I see them on AGDG.
>You're going to want to go to your settings in order to enable VOD saving first, you can do this either by your settings page and then clicking the "Channel & Videos" tab or you can click here.
Streams are only saved if you mark them to be saved. By default "archive stream" is set to false.
>getting angry at being reminded that honesty is important
Lying is bad. Now that you're a legal adult you should really make an effort to stop. Like when you tell everyone you're leaving and "seriously guys I haven't posted there in forever except yesterday and today but seriously". Maybe let go of this teenage angst / bully shit too because it's not cute, it's called being a bad person.
i actually have no idea what the fuck you're talking about, but you're still really retarded.
i'm probably not even the person you think i am.
if someone wants to make a waifu game it's probably not out of dishonesty. I don't know what the fuck would even plant that idea into your head in the first place.
>getting this defensive
i dont even make waifu games, you're just retarded.
but sorry, i'll stop. I keep giving you these juicy replies that you want.
>Cool hacking game. How's it going to work? Will the hacking be at all realistic?
Thanks anon. How realistic the hacking will be will depend, for the most part no, totally unrealistic, like in this webm to crack the encryption on an airport wifi you have to enter the letter that flash green. On the other hand, one of the missions is to acquire a copy of an unreleased song so a pirate can upload it, and the solution is to go to the music portal site, initiate the buying process for a different song, then change the song ID in the browser parameters to point to the one you're trying to get. Another solution is to visit the musicians homepage and look at how he stores his files, and infer from the links where the song you want might be. Or, since his webserver allows it, you can access his /music directory and see all the files listed, even though they're not available from the main page. Some people would argue that isn't hacking, and I agree, so its more like a computer puzzle solving game I guess
oi cheeky bugger
>the solution is to go to the music portal site, initiate the buying process for a different song, then change the song ID in the browser parameters
Thaaaat's really cool. Would play.
>Some people would argue that isn't hacking
Hacking is anything that uses a system, proces or machine to achieve a result that said system/process/machine was not explicitly designed to produce.
Or as Wikipedia puts it "creatively overcoming and circumventing limitations of systems to achieve novel and clever outcomes".
See: Food hacking, neruohacking, intellectual property hacking
Be sure to take a 5 minute break every hour to move around and keep the blood flowing!
was not sure where this would go better, agdg or egg
guess you guys won
Are you ready to play my game with 2 player local co-op, AGDG?
You do have friends to play with don't you?
Maybe if there's enough of a following. Would a Greenlight or kickstarter be a good indicator of interest? Having trouble getting followers anywhere
>expecting a decent FPS at a decent resolution
It was the best I could do given the circumstances.
Huh? Are you sure it's not just the 10fps webm?
>>some people can't code
>>some people can't be fit
>>some people can't be smart
And how is it supposed to disprove my point?
show us your code
show us how fit your are
show us how smart you are
bro, I'm not smart and I wasn't born with natural talent for drawing, writing, coding, music, design.
I tried hard, I'm not a pro, but I'm certainly better than most garbage there is on steam.
I just didn't quit.
how long have you been drawing?
you need at least 3 years to be mediocre/good.
Talent is an applied interest, Anon. Someone who is "naturally talented" doesn't have shit on someone who works hard.
What game development problems are NP complete?
>"hurr, see you're just talented and I'm not! I-I'm not lazy!"
>"hurr they're not AAA level but made by one person, you're just as shit as I am!!"
No thank you.
To be honest, I just don't think games like yours get much attention. It looks really bland and uninspired. I played it last demo day and It just wasn't that great either.
No ones out there looking for local co-op games on the computer. No two buds are sitting next to eachother n the same keyboard just waiting for games like this to come out. I think you're better off designing it solely for single player in mind.
>cave story isn't good
it's much better than many AAA games anon.
the fact a single guy can make a better game than AAA companies it's impressive in itself.
cave story is still the bar upon games made by one guy are measure.
Added a neat little feature that checks your exact position on map and gives you info related to it, also working on being able to check items in your inventory.
Games like this can succeed but they need to have really good art direction, and a gimmick.
See: Broforce, Castle Crashers, Towerfall Ascension
Oh, and controller support is a requirement.
Well, I've got an arcade publisher that's going to put it in a machine. That's the primary reason for co-op. It was never meant to be ultra-original, just fun.
Xbox360 controller is supported at least. A controller is needed for 2 player.
>there is garbage made by AAA teams
>one single guy in his free time made a better game than dozens of professionals
>It's not impressive
Do you want me to name shit games made by AAA worse than cave story?
cave story is quite good. combat wise I guess it's better than Undertale but it's the same and it gets old, meanwhile Undertale's excels via story and combat randomness/sometimes breaking the 4th wall/having attacks in your menu/removing menu options, constantly keeping it fresh.
read: not saying cave story isn't good, just that undertale is better, not by a lot but still is.
what aspect ratio and resolution did you guys choose for your game?
like a street fighter machine? how would you aim? your game needs WASD, and the mouse to aim, AND more buttons to shoot.
Most people would rather play with 2 controllers. Or more? Why not 4?
I quite frequently gather with my
friendsand play local co-op games on a TV, and Steam Link will make that even more popular. This could appeal to that crowd.
You guys, there was this one
gamemaker video like this one
anybody knows the link?
Why is Unity so awful? Their TextAsset class only accepts specific file extensions, and won't accept any others even if they're just normal text files with a different extension. You can't change this. You just have to change the filetype to .txt.
>make pixel art
>changes to decent
its all about the shadows
excuse my 2min change made in paint as an example
I agree that it's a bit of a pain, but it's not really that big of an issue to work around. Having custom file extension to feel pro is fun but ultimately pointless.
>I don't have a game yet
>but why aren't you doing this for your game
eh probably I'm bullshitting a lot, a turd with shadows will still be a turd
but watching this screenshot from earlier still makes me think they are really important
> Getting that way better code working.
> Deleting all that spaghetti that you couldn't remove until you had a working replacement.
neat, you dissapeared for a while
Unity, ffs, unity. It's not even a question.
And after it all will he still get stage fright
In perfect view of alien eyes
Phew, turns out that aliens were nice
Sidestep, silent types on the mic
Catch him online selling rhymes for diamonds
Rubies, and all kinds of shiny items
All random paraphernalia
Don't rap back that's an absolute failure
Looking for my new artistbro. I saw your example art, it is good to me. pls respond if you see my post m8, we need to find some other way to communicate
Im using a high res texture that i just whipped up real quick to see what it would look like. its all placeholders now anyway, considering I'm about to have an artguy helping me. I'm sure he'll be here any moment... I'll just wait, I hope he knows how to texture.
It's 4 in the evening, the start of November
I'm posting this now to see if your game is better
Enginedev is hard but I love what I'm doing
Building new features, I have no idea what I'm doing
And I hear that you purchased your shitty game from the asset store
Your making a clone now
I hope you at least learned how to code
Not your art bro, but would love to make some random asset if you happen to ask when I'm not busy, just for funsies (a chest, a sword, a random prop).
They aren't point filtered + they are horizontally streched I think.
Demo day starts tomorrow but it ends on tuesday right? It would make sense any stream would be then at the earliest. I'm thinking I might stream but dunno
Why don't you guys make some quick shitty lelsorandumb games and then use the money from those to finance the games you want to make?
Goat Simulator couldn't have been more than a couple of months of work and yet it still sold 2 million fucking copies just because of the publicity the game got from let's players.
A game doesn't have to be good to make money, it just has to be easy to react to.
Your right, I forgot the point filter. Still stretched. How to fix?
You obviously know what I'm doing here, so if you want to make assets (just props like you mention) I will either use them or modify them to they fit my game. Its gonna be an RPG style game, with a medieval type setting. The environments are mostly gonna be procedurally generated (like the cave in webm related), except for things like towns where the player can go to re-supply/find new quests. Prefer low poly. Anyone else that wants to help can do so as well on their own free time for fun. I'll be putting out a demo tomorrow/sunday where you can walk around the cave and kill skele's to see if people are interested in what I have so far.
I have been looking for exactly this kind of thing to play with my buddy, but there are practically no cheap or free good two-player games. That's why I'm currently also working on making a local coop 2-player-game. So... speak for yourself.
How about a chao garden type game, where you travel around the world to different towns competing in competitions with your "chao" or monster or whatever it is. Then you collect winning, buy loot and deck out your "chao" with sick swag and gear and you can train them to compete in a variety of contests just like in sonic adventure 2. I think it would be better if you just multiple types of "monsters" instead of just one chao species. kinda like monster rancher or something.
I don't like the idea of a game that's just the chao garden. Part of the reason that I liked the chao garden so much was that it kind of broke up the regular gameplay of Sonic Adventure, like one big long minigame. I don't think I'd buy it if they sold the chao garden by itself.
I'm sure there are people who would, after all Tamagotchi managed to sell and that's just pet caretaking. But personally, I wouldn't go for it.
Caravan sounds interesting.
Good for a lowpoly model.
What's the tris count?
Hey guy, I'm your artistbro's roomate. He gets off work in an hour; but you can email him at email@example.com. And yes he knows how to texture. He showed me your skeletons yesterday, cool stuff.
could provide reasonable flat shaded stuff
but you would expect work at a level from someone who does it for free and unpaid
I've never played any sonic game besides the Tiger handheld
not mine, it my new artistbros. I posted it so he could see I'm talking about him. I'll sure he'll be here any minute to respond h-ha.
I'm skeptical, but I'll shoot an email that way.
I was looking for my artguy that already said he would help, not just "looking for art" in general. but if you wanna make props for free and fit my game theme/setting I will use them. This is an unpaid project, we are in it for fun/learning.
Idk this meme, but it looks like a good one. keep it up.
I know it's weird but here's a screenshot I just grabbed from his PC so you know it's the same dude.
well this character is already rigged and animated so i can help in that if you want considering you have modeling covered
post for animation advice if you need it, i recently found a good way to make walking cycle for cartoonish characters
Why don't you guys have failed crowdfunding game with $1,500,000 USD (United States dollar) goal?
Some anon was suggesting the ability to grab ledges. I finally added it. It feels really good! Good suggestion anon.
>extend indiesucksuck 1 more month
>people withdraw their funds
>get ridiculed for not being able to start a decent campaign
Here's 3,3 million with 400,000 goal and with 20,000 less backers, smdh tbqh family.
More like Kike Z. LMAO.
tfw my game would be lucky to get 1.5 page views much less 1.5 dollarydoos
>character makes footstep sounds when he walks and I don't know why
>Failed? It's indiegogo, they get to keep all those shekels.
Literal Jew mindset
>didn't reach goal
>b-buh I get to keep the monies
If it didn't reach the goal it's failed but sadly this >>121515320
guy is right.
Hey, how much of a pain in the ass would it be for you to upload/post like, all of your environment tiles? I wanna mess around with them. I think your game would look really good if it had better tiles.
html files are little pieces of scrap paper compared to the laminated ring binder of pdfs
In my head a .pdf is more expensive than a .html, which will give it a classy up-market feel.
Are there any shmups with cute characters like Starfy, Kirby and Mr. Gimmick? I can only name Fantasy Zone.
>Read an interview with a programmer for a game you like
>They begin to spout technobabble
>Realize that you'll never make it
The idea is that she can jump off it again, so I pictured her feet resting up against the wall. Not illustrated in this situation, though.
Not a pain at all. Here is a link with all the environmental stuff. Lemme know if you end up changing it at all, I'd be interested in seeing your ideas.
FrogtownTiles.png is the file to look at.
The recording did jank up the camera a bit. Want to have a look at the actual game and see if its still problematic? Thanks.
you had one job fuccboi
include those VINTAGE MEMES
>the myley cyrus wrecking ball comes in
ok actually lost my shit
reminds me of pic related
throw a shitload of greasy-ass bloom on there and itll be perfect
How far into development would be the best time to add my game on Greenlight? As soon as possible or when I have more 'twitter presence'?
how many memes is too many memes in a game
Why are you asking people who haven't released a game this question?
That said, is Greenlight time limited? Because if not it doesn't matter. Add it as soon as you have dank video content.
I can never remember the name because it's futa garbage and makes me motion sick
I'm doing it /agdg/, I'm moving from RPG Maker to Game Maker.
So much coding stuff is similar to events and variables, and I'm finding the transition to be really easy. I'm kicking myself for not doing this sooner.
>there are people who actually think that's what ace combat was like
it's more like going from that one proprietary tool you use to open one model of stereo produced in 1973
to a dollar store plastic pen knife
Shitposting aside, the thing I always liked about Source was the assets it came with.
Because you had access to all the HL2 models you could make anything from sci-fi to country house without having to make any of your own meshes or textures, as opposed to UE3 at the time which was all alium space ship.
I'll never use it again though
Fortunately with all the free shit UE4 has now it's not a problem
Oh ok, with the speed of my progress Greenlight probably won't be a thing by the time I finish.
I've just been lazy/busy with other stuff for the past few months.
>still shitposting about source two years later
you need to stop this
Hey guys I started on the tech tree. Using vectors so zooming works nicely.
It's non linear and some paths will be entirely optional/locked out depending on how you spec.
I rather like
the textures and stuff are unusable because it just screams "SHITTY HL2 MAP PACK" but having all the entities makes prototyping gameplay so fast and easy. it's like playing with digital Lego except you have a big bin of the Technic stuff
and fuck what anyone says, hammer is easy to use. I think the people who complain about it are the types who are unironically using Carve and have bad practices no matter what engine they're using. Unity and UE just let you ignore bad practice more easily.
bbbut the JUICE man look at all that JUICE he downloaded from the unity asset store
>that thing on the right is supposed to have a dick
>it has a skirt all of 2 inches long and you can't see the dick
this is what always bothers me about futa/traps
it's just a girl that got a cock lazily pasted onto it
I'm not asking for a good one though. I just need forums where I can post gifs of my game without getting banned. Those forums should be populated enough that I can get some comments on the game itself. It doesn't even have to be game development oriented, it could be Anime Forum Where Everyone Uses XD Unironically All The Time that just so happens to have a regular thread where people post their creations for instance. I'm not picky. I just want like a list of forums where it's an acceptable for you to post your creation.
Stat boosts that are meaningful are one thing. 5% passive boost is basically irrelevant over time. Pump it up to 50% and that's a real choice.
30 different choices also make me question whether the game is too long. You only have 6 different units in chess and people have been playing that shit for millenia.
>it has a skirt all of 2 inches long and you can't see the dick
Why are you talking shit when you've clearly never played it? The dicks are magic and only appear when it's time. They're all girls when they're not raping each other.
This is my usal workflow.
1. Make a 128x128 or 256x256 UVmap,
2. choose a basic color palette.
3. I start off with drawing the edges and indents.
4. Then I apply the shading and shadows.
3ds max for modelling
Photoshop CS6 for texturing
I always get the 'porno' comment haha
The first two levels were pretty small, so I wanted to change it up with a more open map for just one room/level.
>working on pandering dishonest games
>the mine numbers are printed on the map from the start
>each tetris coming down has visible mines inside
>you have to play to try and make the mine numbers correct
>mfw the next minecraft is waiting to be made
Is that so? yours looks pretty good then, I've been trying to work on textures for a character of mine but I was having trouble I've been messing around in paint and krita so that has been somewhat working for me
>you need as many polis as possible
>you need polis for bare walls
you use as few polis as you can get away with
anon technically does not need that many polis to begin with, probably needs them to know what the hell he's texturing.
characters tho, you look at them from up close and constantly, you have cloth physics on them and so on, you need more polys than an empty map (that doesn't even have props yet.
bumps, speculars and diffuse can give any flat surface a ton of detail
use the secondary map feature most engine have and you can make even tiled maps look good.
>also it has microtransactions and social media integration
I also forgot to mention smoothing groups do wonders, can make a round corner with as little as 2 faces, sometimes even 1 face is enough depending on view distance.
>you can only play as the normal map influencing the world by changing slightly to get people to react to it
>good devving tips and showcase of what tools can do
>agdg posts actually on topic
>whoa there here's some shitpost
no one likes the idea guy attentionwhoring
some games like what you described actually exist
they did so poorly I didn't even bother to remember their name
