Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate is due West for 3DS early next year.
New MH4G trailer:
>I have a question!
Includes links to the Brady Guide, Monster Hunter Wiki, weapon guides, charm info, and more.
Database with weapon trees, item locations, drop rates, etc.
Same thing, but in-browser.
>Where does /vg/ play?
In 3U, we hang out at Help! A, Lobby 9
In 4, weeaboos with imported 3DS's stick together

Just so you guys know, the amount of empty spoiler tags in this OP is absolutely ridiculous. Moot's spam filter is truly worse than Hitler. That is all.
>Trying to get Rathian Surspikes
Holy fuck I got a ruby and a mantle but still no fucking surspike
>Finally cut that tail that she keep raised in the air like the slut she is
Finally managed to cap hungry joe. Holy shit that was a rough experience. No black blood, but I did get a crook and a gem. Anyone have tips for dealing with this asshole? I used the brachy GS and it worked alright, but he just has so much health.
Monster Hunter gameplay with Etrian Odyssey's visuals and its various FOEs as the large monsters.
Nope. Not one little bit. Unless you see the actual skill in your list of activated skills, it means nothing.
That's why if you have like -10 Defense on something, all it takes is one gem to take it to -9 Defense and you're golden.
They do nothing til you put enough points to activate the skill (usually 10)
I'm at +8 Oxy and I already had sharpen0r+1 on all my slots using helm, but if i switch to cap I get one extra slot, but then that takes me down to +7 Oxy and the only Oxy jewel I have is +2 so fuck Oxygen.
I think they're calling the gems by the points they give, so Razor Sharp/Speed Sharpening
>various monster drops are attained through more specific, creative methods rather that just "attack X body part until it breaks"
>class-based systems that allow you to use two different weapons on a hunt
>can make a guild of AI-controlled teammates to fight alongside you or hire other players to assist you
>getting your shit kicked in by Ragelopes in real time
Oh god imagining MH x EO is getting my dick too hard.
So this happened a couple of hours ago:
>go to gamestop to pick up a friend who works there
>says: "hey, since you always play monster hunter, I just had a customer that is the 9 times world champion in Monster Hunter."
>"Yeah he pre ordered Smash because he said he needed something new, now that he's world champion in Monster Hunter for the ninth time. I don't understand the game but he said something like it's all about seeing where which monster is where on the map and then closing in with lance and dual blades"
How can you be world champion at something that doesn't even have championships? It doesn't even have a ranking system, apart from Arena leaderbords. How the fuck can someone be so full of bullshit? And the way he told it, that guy was dead serious about it.
I know it's bs but I'm still mad. I wish I'd have gotten there sooner.... Anyway, if anyone ever heard of a Monster Hunter world champion from Lübeck, Germany - first name "Noah"( I forgot the last name), let me know.
So can we agree Diablos is the best and worst monster.
I secretely want to become SnS master race, but as an old hammer veteran the dmg is just way too low for me. I always go back to hammer or hh after a quest, I just can't help it.
One day though! I just wish 4G wouldn't introduce new weapons because otherwise I'd go with SnS from the start this time
Just defeated my second Kirin with a good load of 80 pellet shots and a Sakura Parasol.
It seems Ionprey Gunner armor is pretty much the only saving grace for the Prey armors. Which is nice, since i actualy like their armor design.
What's everyone else favorit armor by design rather than effectivity?
SnS has lower damage per hit, but can somewhat compensate for it with its mobility. None of the attacks take more than half a second to chain into a dodge, so using mobility to your advantage makes the fight a lot more involved.
Also at some point, you want to handicap yourself for the masochism and the challenge :^)
Does anyone have that picture of someone complaining about the gs being slow and giving MH a bad review?
>mfw I forgot Rathian Rubies were a thing
>and now I need like three
P-please MonHun, I still don't have all the Rathalos Rubies I need
3U elder dragons.
Jhen: Formulaic as shit, easily messed up if someone doesn't know the script, takes ages, fucking break-only reward.
Ceadeus: Underwater. Giant homing ceiling laser. Quick, at least.
Miralis: Huge bag of HP. Sometimes underwater. If he dies there, you don't get 9 carves, and it can be hard if he dies on land. Sometimes blocks the camera, making it hard to read tells. Aimed fireballs that have a tell as big as the blast radius.
Alatreon: My only actual problem is difficult breaks and unrivaled hatred for gunners.
No no, I'll get to farming Rathian when I'm done with Rathalos.
I just wish cutting tails wasn't impossible as a solo gunner. I'm pretty damn tired damn tired of the GS and the LS by now.
>need both rubies and plates from rathalos
>get ruby from tail and cap rewards along with two plates on my 8th run
i was very happy
It's bretty gud. At the end of G-rank you've got 3 very nice pairs of Fire DS to choose from; you've got the aforementioned Wyvern Conciliation, then you've got the Agna DS (which I forgot the name of) and THE FISTOLUTION.
thought so, looking at the stats and comparing it to the other fire DBs it looked like it would hold up well. agnak seems to be outclassed due to lelnopurple but conciliation looks like a good set to use until getting the fistolution.
I just got high rank yesterday. I ran into Mr. Deviljho on the Crimson Quropeco mission. Deviljho killed Quropeco. I carved Quropeco and danced around hoping to not get killed.
Deviljho starts eating Quropeco.
IT ATE IT HOLY SHIT I LOVE THIS GAME SO MUCH
So after hunting Rathian and her bitch Ratholos at the same time 11 times in a row i finally got two spikes to make Sieglinde.
...Only now i realized to ask if that was a good idea to begin with.
I want a monster with an affinity or obsession with bones in it's design.
>(in the way he fights)
No, i don't care that i'm late.
Either way, what are you grinding for today, /mhg/?
I just got done with the grind for the
kelbi bow, and now i think i'm going to start another for either the bamboo bow or barioth bow.
>can play dress up with them
>can put more than two skills on them
>they actually place shock traps when they have that skill
>actually crouch with you when you crouch, so it's not an instant aggro when you see the monster
>can get rusted/ancient shards and charms as well instead of just ores
Shakashits a shit.
>be a 3rd gen only faggot
>the only thing I feel when I see a Felyne is rage because of how annoying it is to have to fend them off every time you do a quest and the monster inevitably runs off to an area full of them
>can only fit two or three worthwhile ones, same as shakas
>rarely, whereas shakas can use a pitfall on command
>shakas can actually get monster parts reliably along with whatever else they gather
You forgot the part where they never shut the fuck up and don't give you free healing and buffs regardless of their setup
Go ahead if you can make something worthwhile
I got by with gems
>actually having different aesthetics other than the head is meaningless
>shakas have a limited amount of skills depending on the masks
>only once, and then never again, meanwhile i had one of my felynes put shock traps twice a couple of times
>not having the monster up in your ass when you want to do some gathering or throw a smoke bomb or something like that is useless
>>>shakas can actually get monster parts reliably along with whatever else they gather
>only one part per monster, and they don't gather stuff is they don't have the pacific masks like fluffy or nulberry
>also implying that felynes can't get monster parts
>>You forgot the part where they never shut the fuck up
>implying shakas ever shut up
>>and don't give you free healing and buffs regardless of their setup
>implying healing cats don't do their job superbly
>those inbred savages
>ruled by a king that lights his own head on fire
Not today sir.
>They have sleep bombs
>Can drop shinies that are actually just bombs
>Shakas when there's a large monster nearby
I love my
Sort of a novel concept but I think it would be really cool if when you set up a room you could choose which city to go too. Like selecting between loc-lac, tanzia, and the yokomo guild hall.
Might be extra work but I like the idea.
Because I'm specifically talking about the friendly ones we get in Tri and 3U. To not acknowledge that Shakas were nightmare fuel in Unite's G-rank is stupid. And I'm not stupid. Just retarded.
>doing a gathering quest in P3rd
>felynes gather twice in 30 seconds from each spot
>doing a gathering quest in 3U
>the shakas just stand there and do a random dance
Comfy Cat is just the Vice Chief of Pokke
Let's hunt together in Monster Hunter 4!
Join #VeeGeeHunter on Rizon to chat.
Felynes can cook with just any ingredient.
Shakas can only cook meat!
So I wanted to get into bowgunning, and made the s.barioth set and the narga hbg for the occasion.
Is it normal for a rarity 10 hbg to take 3 normal s1 shots from close-ish range to kill a HR bullfango?
How much difference do shot types make?
>Stun locked by low rank lagi for three minutes against the waterfall in his cave
>watching it whittle my health down hit by hit
I want to wear the HR peco armor because fasion, but I don't know what to do with the slots so I figured I'd just health gems, but I already get health from food and my HH songs so I don't want to waste slots on things that don't stack.
So how do I deal with g rank diablos, cause he is pushing my shit in, and his tail always catches me when I go to dodge something, it's quite annoying
I feel like the Switch Axe would be more interesting if it only had one phial type that boosted both raw and element/status, while reload was removed and the phial constantly drained for as long as you were in sword mode, but phial charged faster compared to how slow it is now.
Also you could add shit like "Full-phial bonuses" to Axe Mode, like maybe using some phial to do a bonus, holding charge on overhead chops or some shit but only if the phial is full.
Focus would both make it charge faster and drain less in sword mode.
They both never shut up, sure, but at least shakas dancing and doing little tribal jigs is more bearable than felynes constantly meowing.
I'd take a text box over constant meowing any day.
I wish i didn't suck so much ass haven't played 3u in like a week cause i got super salty trying to cap lagi.
Also my friend got me this as a suprise gift from japan. what am i in for?
dual blades aren't in the weapon guide
Once again, it's been done since yesterday. People keep copypasting the OP and neglecting to include the modified pastebin:
I like sailor guildies.
DB 101 seems rather skimpy compared to the others. Recommended skills/weapons for each element would be nice for those wanting general idea of what they aim for
Dear God, I swear it's like these fucking longsword users and DSers don't fucking care who they trip up. I can understand a spirit combo or DS combo tripping up someone after they moved in a bad position, but sometimes these fuckers run right up to you and do their bullshit.
anyone wanna maybe playing through p3hd with me over netplay?
ive only played this before with scrubby assfriends, so i wanna see how other people play. i've started fresh and everything
So recently i've lost my interest with MH, and I wanna reinstate it. I already have a character with 300+ hours, and i'm not sure if I should keep playing on that one, or start a new character and maybe try out the lance and/or gunlance. Any opinions, /mhg/?
Don't start a new game.
Here's what you do. Buy an Iron [weapon] from the dealer and just work your way up from the Great Jaggi, fighting every monster along the way, and upgrading that Iron [weapon] as you go.
>Starting a new character for a weapon
Why? No really, why would you do this, just make a switchaxe on your current character and kill some LR or HR monsters before trying them with G rank
I fail to see the reason to make an entire new character for a single weapon
As a DS user....I will say nothing because I've been solo all the way up to dire miralis, but I understand you from when I play lance in Tri, dear god the LS users back then
SOLAIR BRING YOUR ASS BACK IN HERE
writer here, i gave an idea of what to look for in weapons but left the rest to research to see what they'd prefer. also i may have left some things out because i wasn't in a good mindset when writing it.
I have two because I only ever used GL/LS/Hammer on my first hunter, so the 2nd one is for trying out everything else, even bowguns
True true, just compared to the other guides which offer armor skills and generally a good weapon of said element or amount of slots, the DB guide is a little lacking and leaves a little to be desired. Recommended armor skills at least would be nice. For the weapons though, might want to mention some are better then others, cause the chainsaw swords while cool, are kinda of shit they're entire upgrade path and they gotta compete with lagia and Zinorge DB's, same with the dual element weapons, might want to mention them and how effective they can be
All just my opinion by the way
in hindsight i probably should have touched on some of that but it's nice to hear opinions on what could be changed around. might fix things up later unless some other anon would want to (doubt anyone else will since it took this long to get a person to put DB guide together)
I contributed to at least2 of the guides but never did anything for DB because I only started using them atm.
Maybe you could compile a short list of skills for starters, we can clean things up later and shape it up to be a great guide.
I think these are some of the must have skills for DB from what I've played so far. Some other stuff is usefull but it's stuff that can be applied to most weapons so I do not think it is relevant atm.
I would, but I can only play through ad-hoc party.
Oh man. After putting a ton of hours into mhfu, I was super pumped for Tri. It was the only reason I ever bought a Wii. Switch-axe ended up better than I hoped, underwater combat ended up worse than I hoped. They removed some of my favorite monsters (Rajang, etc.), and the Elder Dragons, so that was disappointing. The giant monster fights felt improved. Lao Shan Lung, while cool, was pretty boring. 10/10 theme though, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKyzN3jNw8w
Mainly used the hammer and lance in FU, so the Tri changes felt fantastic. Was really weird getting used to the hammers new mid-charge though.
Overall, the game a successful upgrade.
Yah I don't blame you man, it is nice to see a DB guide of some sort put together though cause as long as I have been using DB's I'm not the foremost expert on them even I have questions from time to time
Razor sharp is great, forgot about it.
Hallow Jhen is great for the end game but I preffer evasion in my armor, but that's because I have an awesome polishing charm.
Speaking of which
If no other sharpness skill is available this should help.
I was just checking it. Btw Ludroth armor is a great start for DB users and HR Lud is pretty great up until G Rank at which point you may want to get a G Lud which is readily available from the start and use it until you get something better.
Volvidon/Lagombi are worth mentioning due to evasion as well as Wroggi armor due to razor sharp.
If you pick up a decent Evasion charm Evasion+1 is super easy to get on H.Jhen armor. I have a 2-slot Evasion+5 charm, so I run S+1, Speed Sharpening, Razor Sharp, and Evasion+1. Plus the Heallth+20 that the armor has, but that doesn't actually matter.
Get a bonus effect in sword mode. Power adds raw damage, element increases elemental damage, dragon adds or increases the dragon damage on an axe, and status can inflict that status.
>The Lao Shan Lung wasn't running from Miralis
>It was running away from a hunter who wanted to fuck it
>decide to man up and do g-rank all alone
>black blos first on the list
That wasn't fun at all.
Seriously, not having tremor resistance usually means death if my health bar isn't completely filled.
What's some good full set g rank armor for the hunting horn? i really hope quropeco isnt the only one, it's ugly as shit
Let's start with some something easier to farm, maybe barioth armor?
Let me die please.
Everything about Disufiroa is terrible, and I'm already been tainted from hearing how these mhwiki dolts liked that monstrosity over Alatreon.
Fuck you G-Rank Peco armor looks fantastic. The only thing I don't like about it is that I can't really swap the helm out for the superior cap.
H.Jhen isn't hard to farm. It doesn't need a ton of H.Jhen parts that you can't mine off its back, anyway.
I did not have much luck with charms, that polishing charm I have has speed polish and another thing... attack maybe?
It's been attached for so long that I don't even know anymore.
>g rank peco
>ugly as shit
Surely you jest
that's a cool armor
has some nice skills and looks great
Narga is a viable option if you want to replace sharpness for more stamina. it can make a nice set with a decent charm.
Not arguing about the skills for that armor but
>Starting point for DBs
Starting point implies just beginning, not "Well since I'm this far already might try switching weapons."
>g rank peco
>Surely you jest
We don't know yet. Looks more like a flying wyvern with bird of prey characteristics though. But who knows.
There's still the Tokyo Game Show and the MH 10th Anniversary celebration in August, which is specifically stated to be revealing new monsters. Don't count your chickens before they hatch, bitch.
Having both Edgemaster and Rock Steady in Frontier means nothing when there's even more powerful skills out there.
The power creep isn't limited to Hunters but Monsters as well, what's with the multiple monster variants called ??, ??, ?? and ??.
They're still revealing monsters, plus 4 had tons of monsters that weren't outright revealed too. See >>73461858
The game looks amazing regardless. If you're a fan of MH, you can't not be hyped.
If we're not counting subspecies:
MHF only added Garuga.
MHFU only added Vespoid Queen, Nargacuga and Ukanlos
MH3U only added Brachydios and Dire Miralis
Same kind of shit, different generation
I wasn't in the wiki, it's just something that stuck with me ever since brute wyverns were introduced.
I believe they won't do any akantor subs but I was surprised to see Kirin subs on MH4 which I also thought was highly unlikely to happen even with all that porn flying around making it popular.
>if they made a subspecies for Akantor.
Sub species make the stale old monsters better.
Kirin's been there since MH, before Elder Dragons were even a thing. It's been overdue for a subspecies and it's pretty much the only ED besides Ceadeus, Jhen Mohran, and Daren Mohran (it's pretty much a given that Daren is gonna get a subspecies in 4U) that got a sub.
Hallowed Jhen was already kinda dark and Jhen is more of a baleen whale-esque (blue whale, specifically) monster. But Daren is more like a toothed whale (sperm whale), so it'll probably get a white subspecies ala Moby Dick. But that's just wishful thinking.
Is Jhen Mohran or a fun ship based battle equivalent going to be in monster hunter 4U?
He's my favorite fight
Ground type Blastoise pls.
I thought it was going to be neon green.
That is quite true. Do you think Alatreon has a chance of getting a subspecies in 4U?
G rank Diablos on her period
>Hypnoc and Lavasioth didn't make their debut in FU and as such are not counted.
why is ppsspp netplay such a goddamn task to get working properly
all i want to do is have fun people friends
Super Rajang (a.k.a. Golden Rajang)
Nah. Considering Alatreon was only in 4 as a trade material and not an actual monster. Plus Alatreon is strong and unique enough to where a subspecies would be a moot point. Also keep in mind that most Elder Dragons don't get subs to begin with. Only ones so far that have subspecies are Lao Shan Lung (forgot to include it in my first post), Kirin, Ceadeus, and Jhen Mohran. I don't count Rusted Kushy because it's literally just a Kushala that needs to shed its skin. Other than that it's the same.
Wasn't somebody saying in an earlier thread that the power creep in Frontier wasn't that bad? It may have been here or on /v/ but from what i'm reading this looks like some massive power creep.
T-t-theres no power creep I swear
Monster Hunter Frontier is a wonderful addition to the monster hunter series, and overall everything they add is solid gold in terms of adhering to the monster hunter universe.
Why do you think there wouldn't be a problem if MH never came to the US again then? I'm genuinely curious.
>What is Daren Mohran in 4?
>What is Daren Mohran and its' possible subspecies in 4U?
Guys, when are they going to reveal a ??? sub for 4G?
Pink Daren, please.
Frontier only brought content that needs to be refined by the main series.
Pariapuria was the original glutton that ate everything including Rajang fur. Deviljho was a refined version with the ferocity Paria lacked.
Similarly, Steve is a refined version of Hyujikiki without the random status ailment bullshit and FUCKING tornado aura.
When there are monsters that do continuous aoe damage people like being able to life steal off of it while standing in a damaging aoe. Its stupid, but god damnit everything in frontier is stupid as fuck
>Gold-plated Kushala maybe?
Not in the main series, dear!
Both, actually. We'll get a new G rank final boss monster and a new elder dragon to end the high rank village story with. Alatreon stays a trade material for Dara Amadyura parts. Kushala and Teo don't need subs at all, and if they did they would have been introduced in 4 like Kirin's subspecies was. MH is all about patterns when it comes to stuff like this.
It's literally a new jhen.......with one horn
What the main series needs are options for new movesets on all weapons. That DB side dodge slash is mandatory though.
I forgot about that... And here I was wondering why that pic of golden kushy looked so clear in my head...
Exactly what I mean by being refined.
See this thing? It looks pretty harmless.
Now look at Deviljho and describe it yourself.
God I remember that thing, it was so fucking boring and it never stopped charging. His hitbox on it was pretty shit also.
The SR300 version though.. that thing is fucking mean, AoE attacks up the ass.
But Americans wouldn't get it, even though the demand would be high? I seriously don't see your point.
>inb4 "just import it"
Good thing your idea of an acceptable reality isn't the actual reality of this situation. That's all I wanted to know.
It's a good general use status, like slime. Some monsters can be made laughably easy with poison, like Duramboros or Diablos.
Also every monster can be poisoned, even Giigginox and Wroggi. It just takes more effort.
It's really just the gunlance
It's not even a drill really, it's just spiral shaped
That would be Seltas
It's pretty mediocre
Yeah, but most of them only damaged you for like 1 frame, so it was easier to dodge, SR300 Paria, he gets wind pressure on his jump animation which is the start to his AoE so it's alot more annoying. Even though he gives a pretty good tell before he does it.
>Dark Pulse: When Health reaches 0 the Hunter will rise again and become possessed by Fatalis' Evil Energies of Darkness. The Health-bar will completely fill and slowly drop back to 0, resulting in the Hunter's death. During this time the following skills will be active:
Adrenaline +2, Starving Wolf +2, Defense +120, Sharpening Artisan, Super High-Grade Earplugs, Violent Wind Breaker, Quake Res +2, Heat Negate and Cold Negate.
During this time the Hunter will also be unfazed by any attack, meaning he cannot be interrupted. Though he does still take damage from Monster attacks.
>possessed by evil energies of darkness
Did a fucking 12 year old come up with this skill?
So why the fuck did they remove all the leviathans for 4?
Even if they wanted to remove fucking underwater combat so Lagiacrus and such were useless, WHY FUCKING REMOVE THE NON-WATER LEVIATHANS AS WELL? An entire fucking class of monsters gone for a dickton more of nearly identical Wyverns? Fuck you Capcom
Reminds me more of Snarf.
Charge Axe is pretty different, but the axe movesets are sort of similar. I thought it felt pretty natural once I learned how it worked. Not sure how much the hundreds of hours I've put in on SwAxe had to do with that.
SwAxe is the coolest, thouh. Everyone should learn it. It really isn't slow. Switch to axe mode if you want mobility. SwAxe is all about being able to effectively use both modes. Morph slashes are the easiest way to switch. Read the guide. Only part I sort of disagree with is the bit on Evade Extender.
>Those fucking epic zoom in camera motions
IT'S A BIG GAME
IS THE FUCKING SHIELD SPINNING AND BRIMMING WITH ENERGY LIKE SOME ELEMENTAL CHAINSAW? FUCK. 4U CAN'T COME OUT FAST ENOUGH.
It's from Frontier. Not the main series.
They didn't completely remove them. They're still trade materials and you can still craft their equipment.
The problem regardless of i-frames is that you don't want more distance. You want to stay right on top of the monster. Dodges that cover a short distance are much better for this
>lol muh ebin lagibro why he no in 4u fugggg xdddd
Fucking hate those fags. Actually makes me glad that not only lagia, but all leviathans are eith
I guess the simplest way to put it is that Axe mode attacks slower, but has better mobility. You can side step out of the recovery on most attacks or cancel them into the next move in the combo.
Sword mode has a better attack rate, and more damage if you can get a few attacks in, but garbage mobility.
There are some exceptions there, but that's the easiest way to put it if you are just trying to pick it up.
Considering the fact that it granted like, 10 fucking skills in one, and the skill names themselves, it should've been easy to realise that wasn't from 4.
I can't get over the name though. FATALIS THE DEATH DRAGON'S SUPER EVIL DARKNESS ENERGIES OF DARK POSSESSION
What the fuck, Frontier.
Yeah. Jeeg as fuck. I hope we get more Seltas weapons in 4G.
>People actually defend this shit.
We never got 4. This is exactly the reason why it was a good thing for Capcom to skip localizing 4. This way, we always get the most complete version of every generation.
For us filthy gaijin, a lot of the monster in 4U is new. Even if all they add is Steve and a new G-rank monster, the stuff that was new to 4 will still be new to us.
Meanwhile, Japan doesn't give a shit about the fact that their expansion pack is full-priced.
God I'm fucking dying over here! If I ever appear online with those while playing with my friends we won't even be able to kill a fucking kelbi
Yeah I know but... You know, Capcom has a way with bad things sometimes.
Interestingly, they actually made new cat equipment for lagi and plesioth despite neither of them appearing in person
Plus there's that ceadeus CB
They also kept most of the cat equipment from P3 for stuff that's not in, like uragaan and volvidon
And at least they gave it to monsters as well. Brachydios, Teostra, Dara Amadyura, and Crimson Fatalis all have natural blast attribute weapons.
Nah. If anything it got renovated for main series use by making a monster that uses it specifically. It was never cancer. So fuck your unpopular opinion. Just cause some Frontiershit gimmick has it doesn't mean it came from Frontier.
Why does every monster in FU seem to just jump across the map away from you at basically all times? Seriously, I spend 90% of my time just running to the monster because he randomly decided to jump in the complete opposite direction of me.
And then when I get to him, unsheathe and get ready to hit, and then before I can even get a level 1 GS charge out he's already fucking jumped away just so he can stand there and look at me.
Late, but frontier doesn't look too shabby either on vita.
I always see people say that ultimate looks like shit on wii-u, but whenever I watch streams it always seems to look so much clearer and cleaner than it does on my 3ds, and the size of the player for a twitch stream is quite a bit bigger than a 3ds screen.
Shadows are minor.
Monsters and environment had a noticeably larger polycount and texture resolution as a whole.
I wish I had the Tri and 3U lagi comparison with me. They improve the textures on many monsters (narga is probably the most obvious one) for 3U but the detail on the shapes got worse.
Actually I think that narga looks damned beautiful in 3U.
>3U on the Wii U
I'm not arguing that the 3Ds isn't holding back the series from its true potential. However, 3U is definitely a better-looking game than its predecessors. Shadows and lighting are a huge deal, and they're what can make a shitty-looking game suddenly look really nice.
It makes you wonder how good the games would look if they were on an actually good system, doesn't it?
It's become a meme to say that the Monster Hunter series has bad graphics. The graphics of every portable Monster Hunter game have really been incredible for the console they're on. The series has always looked great; I have no idea how that meme got started.
>Shadows are minor.
They're really not. Their effects on the game's appearace are just really subtle. You don't notice it, but it makes a huge difference when it comes to how you perceive the way a game looks. Natural-looking lighting is a much bigger deal than poly count or texture resolution.
>It makes you wonder how good the games would look if they were on an actually good system, doesn't it?
They are on the WiiU but they will forever be just ports of the 3DS games now.
Lightning is still minor in the way it is used in 3U (just dynamic shadows) on top of Tri having way better environment lightning with the dark caves and the torches. Something they just botched on 3U since no one liked that.
But yeah, officially it is the best looking game on the series so far. But emulated Tri is still better looking in most aspects
ok I just did a barioth quest with them and at first they seemed pretty eh, Wasnt really sure what slime was doing and the sharpness ate away so quickly but the quest was over in less than 10 minutes so maybe they are ok
mhg ded begins now!
Help! A, Lobby 9
lets unalive some monsters!
It's natural for a game to look better over time due to increase in budget and production value, but the 3ds games are really pushing it. They're just making better details here an there instead of graphics because that's all they can do.
>They are on the WiiU but they will forever be just ports of the 3DS games now.
One could argue that the Wii U holds the series back as well. It could barely run 3U without dropping frames. Imagine what Monster Hunter games would look like on a non-Nintendo console, or maybe even the PC (B-team-tier doesn't count).
It's a real shame Capcom is in bed with Nintendo, for whatever reason.
>Lightning is still minor in the way it is used in 3U (just dynamic shadows) on top of Tri having way better environment lightning with the dark caves and the torches. Something they just botched on 3U since no one liked that.
It's still a huge improvement over previous games. The 3DS can't really handle things like ambient occlusion and proper lighting effects, and I imagine that stuff just got cut. Honestly, though, having to use a torch to fight Gigginox would just be annoying.
>But yeah, officially it is the best looking game on the series so far. But emulated Tri is still better looking in most aspects
You keep saying this, so now I want to see some screenshot comparisons since I never played Tri.
Thunder elemental effects are my favourite in all of Mohun, and I'm not quite sure why. Maybe it's the nice blue colour. Or the constant ZAP ZAP ZAP, or the fact that Thunder weapons usually look pretty cool.
WiiU is pretty strong, it's just that Capcom's coders did a remarkably shitty job with the 3U port.
You never have to do shit like using a torch to fight Giggi and I don't know why you're saying that 3U looks better than Tri if you haven't even played the damn game.
Please inform yourself before you go around spouting your opinions on the internet.
>I don't know why you're saying that 3U looks better than Tri if you haven't even played the damn game
What, do the screenshots and videos of the game magically not do justice to the game or something? I can tell how it looks without playing it.
>Handicraft charm dropped
>2 gem slots
>Admire it a second time
What the god damn fuck is this even supposed to mean?
