My issue is that one ending is glaringly 'THE BEST' ending, while the others are glorified bad endings. It's not too bad in this case, but it get's frustrating with alignment endings.
>One ends with Bunny as an immortal lonely god
>One ends with the implicit point that humanity will eventually fuck up and die anyway
>One is just a straight bad ending
I guess Alcor's ending isn't too bad, since it's at least a conclusion.
They were spoiled by SMT IV, which had the best ending in the entire series.
I just passively look browse these threads with a look of indifference personally.
You and I both know that will never happen.
One of these cycles, our savior will finally appear.
>Longest ending scene by far
And? People dying or disappearing isn't a negative. Take a good look at what franchise this is.
Alcor's gets this as well. Possibly Ronaldo too but I'm not sure.
>Explains shit in the path leading up to it that the routes that stuff would have been relevant in didn't
In English please.
Aside from the bad end, which is called bad end for a reason and is also nothing new to SMT, I don't see anything wrong with them. Alcor's is sad but there's nothing wrong with that, and Ronaldo's is supposed to fire you up. Also, the tone of Yamato's feels depressing as well if you actually play it, even if things do turn out marginally okay.
The overall tone of Break Record is just more depressing than the DS game. It's supposed to bring out strong emotion. I really don't see any problems here.
Like Gin, in the original DS.
>People dying or disappearing isn't a negative
And I mean, that in the main path, they actually explain why Ronaldo and Miyako's routes would have been retarded. Ronaldo basically goes 'woops glad we didn't do what I said we should that would have been stupid, huh guys'.
Yamato's is depressing. Yamato's route is depressing in the same way SJ Neutral's is depressing. Yeah, there's going to be loss, but there's a fire in the hearts of the party that's incorrigible.
Ronaldo's doesn't fire you up. It's stupid, and he's stupid.
>One ending has all the characters live
>The other ending has numerous characters die to produce a lesser result anyway
Saying that's characters dying isn't a negative is just stupid, unless those deaths actually create something that they couldn't have otherwise.
You're misunderstanding something here. I;d have been happier if Alcor and Miyako didn't come back in Yamato's ending. Then, there would have been a sacrifice for the gain made. Instead, it's happy clappy fun times for all. Unlike every other ending.
>Bunny loses contact with the vast majority of his friends
>But creates a safe world
>Ronaldo pledges humanity to an eternal war
>But there's a chance that humanity can exist within that war
>Everybody lives and stays together
>World is 100% safe
You really can't see the difference there. I ntwo endings, something is sacrificed to achieve peace. In one, something is not.
You seem to think that I want 100% happy endings. I don't. What I want is for endings to be consistent. As opposed to one glorious ending and multiple 'Eh. You fucked up really' endings.
>World is 100% safe
>the creators also mentioned that even the most ideal path, which is what lead to Triangulum in the first place, will always have new conflict and battles in it.
They've been removed from the administrator system. That issue is solved but there's no say on what other threats are out there. Demons will likely always be a threat as long as humans exist, for example.
Also please tell me what's sacrificed in Ronaldo's ending, except perhaps their brains, because I don't see it.
>What's sacrificed in the Ronaldo path
>humanity is locked in an eternal battle with the administrator system
Gee boss I dunno, maybe any kind of peace?
I'd like a citation on that quote, since it would improve my opinion on the Yamato ending quite a lot.
The battle will continue sooner and sooner, and become far more dire.
Ronaldo's ending literally them learning about Nicaea the moment they are sent back in time, with a star already attacking while Bunny and Daichi are at school.
And Bunny has an oh shit look on his face.
An embodiment of human despair, that takes the form of figures it believes will allow it to influence those it speaks to.
When talking to Flynn, it takes the form of an authority figure, Hugo, a Mentor, K , a comrade/love interest, Isabeau and a close friend, Issachar.
No doubt it takes other forms when speaking to others.
Alright, reading comprehension.
You realize that the quote is referring to the fact that the 'ideal path' caused the Break Record conflict in the first place.
It doesn't say anything about 'SHIT WILL DEFINITELY STILL BE BAD REGARDLESS GUYS'.
Yeah, I don't know.
I think people are reading too much into that. It's obviously talking about how even the best ending can have unexpected conflict, but I think it's a stretch to make that mean that every ending will always cause things to get harder.
they imply it in the damn game. even Yamato's last words to you he's unsure of what will become of that world. removing themselves from the administrator system leads to a whole lot of unknown.
this is what happens when you bitch about a game you haven't played.
Technically, it would be. Since Polaris is still in charge, the events of Break Record couldn't occur. And since the world seems to be showing a vitality it lacked before, the events of the first game might not occur again either.
The Restoration ending? Because according to Break Record, that would have been the best ending for the world at large, since Polaris would still be around, and the world would show sufficient change that he wouldn't just restart the whole thing right off the bat.
The game goes out of it's way to imply that things likely will eventually repeat itself in Daichi's route, which is why Yamato keeps pointing out that it's retarded. That's common in neutral endings.
The game actually changes it's tune, depending on whether or not you've social linked everyone.
If you haven't, it implies that everything is going to happen again. If you have, it implies that the world has changed subtly, but sufficiently that Polaris is willing to give it a chance.
The blog post states the ideal end, in which everyone lived, they escaped Polaris's/the Administrator's control and the world was restored, was not a peaceful end.
That's all. In Daichi's end, Alcor dies and Polaris is still in control. By definition, that's not 'ideal'.
Al literally becomes the earth. Always there. Always watching over all from beneath their feet.
He'll see you when you're fapping, and he'll know when you are fucking. So don't pollute the planet or you deserve to die you asshole!
An Ideal route doesn't mean an Ideal end.
Take Gin's ending in Devil Survivor. Everybody lives. You're hailed as a hero. You didn't have to become a demon, or keep demons around as tools of war. Even Naoya's impressed.
But God still runs the world. It's flat out stated that the War of Bel is going to happen again.
At the same time, the world is at peace once again.
They must know more than you if they know exactly what he said. They've sounded a lot more reliable than you this whole argument, actually.
You've been sounding like you've been going off purely what you've read on gamefaq and screencaps, given that you didn't even know that Alcor had his own unique CG as well.
Technically he did become one, otherwise Babel wouldn't have obeyed him and go back to earth. Even as the Messiah he's no longer a mere human even if he doesn't carry the title of Overlord and instead bears the title of Messiah.
The only ones where he stays 100% pure human is Atsuro's and Yuzu's.
Yuzus 8th Day at least has a shitty and good end.
Please stop pretending to be someone else to validate yourself.
Yamato's exact words are : BLAH BLAH WE SAVED THE DAY BORING SHIT and then 'Even so, this world is still in chaos. Without an administrator, I can help but wonder what will come next...'
God doesn't run the world, though he does run quite a good deal of it.
It's a point of the Messiah 8th Day, with Okuninushi observing whether Abel is a true messiah or not and how he'll cleanse the nation if he fails his test.
They even comment in the ending that Japan was easy to convince, and that the Gods of other nations will not be so easily convinced.
I think that winning the right to command Babel, and taking Bel's power are two different things.
There's no ending in which Abel is 100% human. His soul is, by nature, at least partially that of a Bel.
and that's why Naoya's route is best on both sides, God fucks off and everything goes back to normal for everyone else in "Don't Kill' and You take over the world and bring peace AND kill God in the "Kill" route
It's kind of confusing. Okuninushi seems to disbelieve that Abel really is the Messiah and wants to throw down with heaven if he isn't, but was A-OK with God nuking Japan if Abel didn't win the Throne of Bel and bow before him.
Kinda skewed priorities.
Taking Bel's power = commanding Babel.
That's how it works. Because the power of Bel rests in him the moment he slays other Bels, and Babel will only obey a Bel it considers worthy of ruling it.
The power of Bel inherently rests in him though. Abel became a Bel demon before his essence got split, so the DS Abel is, at his core, at least a partial demon before he game even starts.
And while the characters go 'I guess you aren't human anymore' in the King of Bel and Messiah endings, they seem to think that Gin's ending leaves you mostly human. Though that might just be their bias kicking in.
The essence was too small for him to be considered a demon due to Abels original essence being spread amongst many.
It isn't until he slays Beldr that he gains a far greater essence and thus becomes worthy of being a candidate for the Throne of Bel.
Yeah, but that only made him a candidate. He hadn't yet proved his worth to be a king of Bel. Has to slay a few more than that.
>Through God's Divine love
>The whole reason Abel became a demon is because he was hyper buttmad at Cain for killing him
>A situation that God implicitly encouraged so he'd have a nice Aesop story
Did Metatron write this?
Also, I'd argue by the point that Abel kills Beldr and actually gets a power-up from it, both in-game and in-story, he's not 100% human, though still mostly so.
Loki explained that some pieces were absorbed by other demons, while others became their own entities in other mythologies.
That's why Baldr being a whiny bitch about how he didn't get revived turned him into a Bel.
Do I really have to spoonfeed you?
I don't understand the question, you go to the center, take the tunnel that goes to valhalla, go to the stairs that go down, go down the elevator, step outside, and in there, there's a shrine.
As someone who has a basic grasp of moon and can clear this up,
>Whatever kind of world the next world becomes...
>If you and I are together, there's nothing to worry about.
>DeSu3 is a sequel to DeSu2 Triangulum.
>Turns out Bunny wasn't remade in the new world. No access to Akashic Records to fix him either.
>Everything goes to shit again.
You know, I guess in his position I'd want that too.
That reminds me that I saw some kind of study along the lines of people in power having a strangely high rate of enjoying BDSM. It was insightful.
I liked all the art this guy drew.
Shame he likes Jonathan.
If you're a male and you're submissive I have no respect for you
If I wanted to discuss it I wouldn't have spoilered it.
Hey now, it's more related to SMT than BDSM. Humor me.
Fine with Dom or Sub: Neutral.
Stop avoiding it, or I'll teach you the true meaning of being dominated, faggot.
The fact that you are getting mad shows you are wrapped around my fingers.
Who says I'm not a switch?
But really, is it because he's inconsistent? It's not like anyone's gonna sperg out, not even here.
Kinda. There's also how he tries to whitewash anything Hugo does as a good thing, or that he wanted Tokyo to remain the same forever along with Mikado. Like that was feasible with a broken system like Red Pills.
Then immediately drops all that the minute the angels tell him to destroy Tokyo.
I also thought Walters manga was better than his, even if Walter sucking down everything Lilith said was equally stupid.
They are people who realize that sexual revolutions come in cycles ranging from puritanical to hedonistic while the average man just suffers from the propaganda and haranguing, and want the game to just end already.
Actually he did plenty wrong. Including continuing to allow people down into Tokyo to collect Mystic Relics. Allowing Gabby to use his greed as a chance to save the three birds trapped in their birdcages.
I was going to ask how the White managed to come into contact with Flynn and co. without that being the case, but then I remembered the White never contact them in their dreams. Unless they've manipulated their dreams, like the destiny related ones, in which case the question still stands.
Why, the dialogue?
That's nothing compared to his lines that are shameless love interest.
It seems more like he's looking in two different directions than being smug.
Pun related can be a PITA if you get caught off-guard with Hexagram.
Hey guys this is gonna sound really dumb, but when I beat SMTIV the first time I (stupidly) kept my level and macca, and now that I want to replay it on hard and play the ng+ missions its gonna be mad fucking boring. Is there any way to go back and change the NG+ settings? or if I start a new game will it remember that i have beaten it before?
...are the NG+ missions even worth it?
Damn. What a mistake. RIP, thanks though.
They are pretty nice. I wouldn't say they are the only reason to do NG+ though. They are like a little extra thing that comes as a bonus to experiencing the other options of the game. They do give you cool demons though, like Astaroth, Ishtar and Mastema
What has to happen in someone's life to even become a whitefag
Yeah, meant the different endings, but as NG+ let's you keep your compendium, it's a nice way to get Alignment-exclusive demons while doing other paths
Oh I see. If I get to NG++ will I be able to rechoose my options to start over? Sorry for all the questions here have some anime titties in return
What ending did you get the first time anon? You better not have ended up in law, since best demon comes from a NG+ Law exclusive demon. Ending up Chaos would also suck since while Astaroth comes from a normal NG+ mission, you need to do a NG+ chaos exclusive quest to fuse Ishtar, which is a requirement for him
If you get to NG++ you get asked again if you want to do a Fresh Start or a Reincarnation NG+, which is why I recommended going white, which is the quickest ending, you get it, by agreeing to end the world with the white after Infernal Tokyo
I... did... go law... jonathon he just seemed like such a... stand up guy..
and for the record I normally go chaos but I decided to change it up for once.
You can always replay the law path at some point in the future to get Mastema, don't worry
Oh if its Mastema I wouldn't want him in my party anyway.
>he doesn't want the best semen demon in his team
Stay pleb, loser
Mastema is pretty much an angel vouching for the Neutral alignment.
As such he stays in Tokyo, trying to keep order until things can change for the better.
Basically SJ Mastema is not IV's Mastema.
The true question is if his Cu Chulainn looks like this
Huh I did Law so I only got to meet him like once in a tower. Didn't realize he wasn't the manipulative jerk he was in SJ.
Did anyone know the correct pronunciation for his name before hearing margaret say it?
He makes it clear that he is trying to follow what he believes is Gods will. Even if that puts him against Seraph and the Big Four since they are the only ones with actual sentience and not just programmed drones who spout whatever the higher ups program them to say.
It's kinda weird that they completely changed the designs of the angels and shit all over the design of that thing that wasn't Lucifer, but Mastema is exactly the same despite also being an angel. Clealry Mastema was the only one who was himself, all the others were imposters.
It's not like he appears again in the game. You can return to his tower after the alignment lock and he comments on your path. After that there's the NG+ law fight againts him
What that anon is talking about is the Clipped Wings DLC where Mastema makes you fight the archangels in order to capture them in that red tower where you rescue them later . Obviously time shenanigans are involved
>can tune into the hive mind at times
No they don't. That is their true nature. They are nothing more than mindless drones programmed to say what the higher ranks tell them to do.
That was the entire point of Purgatorium, to point out how every single angel that isn't at the top is a mindless drone. They don't just become a hive mind, because the hive mind is their true nature as servants of order
So which subseries do you expect to get a new game anytime soon (not counting SMT, Persona, PC, or mobile games)?
>Last Bible hasn't gotten a new console game since March 1995
>Majin Tensei hasn't gotten a new console game since October 1997
>Devil Children hasn't gotten a new console game since November 2004
>Digital Devil Saga hasn't gotten a new console game since January 2005
>Devil Summoner hasn't gotten a new console game since May 2008
I can maybe see Devil Children coming back, but I think that Atlus got it out of their system a while ago. It was pretty much a response to Pokémon, but even now, Youkai Watch is filling a somewhat similar role and is more popular than either series in Japan currently. Maybe its success will pave the way for a new Devil Children game.
Devil Survivor 3 seems likely in 2 or 3 years for the 3DS.
Devil Summoner will probably get a new game, though whether it'll be a handheld or home console game is an interesting question. Atlus probably wants to get their money's worth out of the HD demon models in Persona 5, and it already seems likely that they'll at least appear in SMT X FE. SMT IV was made based on fan requests for a new numbered entry, so whether we'll get SMT V anytime soon is a big if.
Speaking of SMT X FE, I wonder if it'll be a spiritual sequel to the Majin Tensei series due to Fire Emblem being half the crossover. On the other hand, I can see them trying to avoid retreading the same ground, and instead making a console SMT game with a bunch of Fire Emblem characters and gameplay elements.
>the little demon man icon
What are you talking about?
Probably those things.
They are everywhere, though, don't know why that guy is getting mad now.
