Let's get some creativity going and make some fakemon. Get critique and give ideas. If you can't draw for shit but have a idea, maybe some artists will draw them for you? Let's give it a go!
There's no particular theme for this thread, but let's try and see if we can make a few fakemon based on deep sea creatures.
>posting imgur link instead of just posting picture
>Dark type instead of Ghost, despite being a mud-skeleton
>both Japanese and English names
some advanced form of autism going on here
Very rough Concept doodle: Autsum
This humanoid Pokemon feeds of the cringe feeling that humans feel. Therefore, it changes form to appear cringiest to those around it. It got it's name from its tendency to favor brony and sonic fan forms, and deliberate lack of social ability.
I'd like a little critique with these. I based them on old polaroid and film cameras, which could show images of ghosts, hence a ghost/steel(?) typing. I feel like I'm on to something, but it just needs a little more refining.
You're definitely on to something with using the old Polaroid as a base. Like I want these items incorporated into a mon, but maybe not into the exact idea you have there.
Maybe go a little more down the horror movie tread?
Anthropomorphize the camera one a bit more, like make that line on its red/dark body into a jaw.
Don't give up on it though, it needs a better concept but you're getting there.
I really like these designs, but they do not feel alive in the Pokemon-ghost sense. A few random thoughts came to mind:
On the first form, make the lens and the bulb be its eyes; it would float at an angle such that the eyes are parallel to the ground. In any event, it needs eyes. Whether one or two, they need to be normal eyes someone can look into and identify with.
On the evolved form, make the loose film have a consistent shape, as if the ghost is using it as an extension of its body, but not in some utilitarian way. Sure it can use them like appendages, but I think it'd be creepier and more original to have them floating in the air with slack, but keeping the same shape all the time.
Another random idea would be to have, on the evolved form, eyes on the film (regardless of where the eyes were on the first; if the first had a lens eye, the second would not).
Didn't saw there was a fakemon thread, I made a thread yesterday to show mine, I'll post them here.
Cool snakes, what is the source? I only know the first who is an aztec god
I always wondered why no one did a couatl pokemon yet, that is a generic monster the god himself is one of that race
Only uktena gave me some redirects for horned serpent
Thank you, they were based on myths from the americas, boitata is from south america, quetzalcoatl from central america and uktena from north america.
I'm making old style tcg pics too, what do you think?
Oh, it only takes a second, don't be so grumpy.

The More You Know~
Found one that already existed
Ive been drawing a few fakemon today due to boredom. Let me know what you think of these and maybe ill post more.
Bug/Water spider in a bubble.
I just drew a cute, flimsy looking dog/cat creature and just thought it looked like a fairy type.
seems like no concept. nice colors tho
1 is too similar to Weedle, 3 is not enough of an evolution, it's more 1 and 2 smashed together
this is great. basically complete
That's a little very close to a digimon design. Matter of fact, there's one like that with a bad color scheme; Arakunemon or something.
Still, reminds me of that one animator project with the spider girl and the book store.
Best girl won.
It wasn't pushed, a lot of artists were trying to work on it because they saw potential. That means they liked it, and it would have been good to encourage them to try and finish a design, but people kept pushing their own mon in wanting them to be worked on and saying they hated the grass one just to try and disrupt progress.
Real shame ego ruined the project.
This is probably the worst concept I've ever seen
someday someone will pick him up for a game
i just know it
Yes but the changes were minimal. I actually ended up liking the grass/electric single stage mon in the end, because it differed the most from the original.
God how I miss the project.
Finding a good way to execute a computer chip concept has been surprisingly hard
Why can't I into drawing fucking Pokemon?
Sugi has such a style, and I always end up making them look to edgy.
Trying to go for a Fire-type starter here, but I keep fucking up and want to try to follow this criteria
>not just my mom's animal colored red
>not too overdesigned
This guy is reminiscent of like, early reptile transitioning into mammal creatures. But I don't know how to continue with it now. I feel like anything I do to flesh it out just looks pasted on. I mean, I know Charmander's fire tail and Cyndaquil's firey back look good and I guess if it ain't broke don't fix it, but I dunno.
Am I in the right thread?
I'm kind of going for this look (far as the teeth go).
I do think the head should be bigger and its shape should be a little less, "natural" or defined like you said. It looks like it has a skull and Pokemon usually don't look natural enough that you could picture what its bones would look like.
Maybe I'll just give up and play videogames instead.
Eh. Color can also be important in making it unique
I wanna audition to work for GF tbqh m8s.
What type would it be? I guess Fire, if we go by its color?
Which one is the shiny?
I like it.
Neither is Shiny, it was just alt. colors.
I was going for a Fire starter so the final form would be part Ground.
However, I completely agree with >>24603011 and it needs a lot of work.
It's one of my faves from Sage.
But I then I noticed something.
But it has the same color scheme of Infernape and these "spiral" things. The only similarity with Whimsicott is the cotton fur and many pokémon has this type of thing.
I can see some influence, and add Whimsicott to the list could be correct, but remove Infernape certainly is not.
The Vegetable lamb of Tartary is a legendary zoophyte of Central Asia, once believed to grow sheep as its fruit. The sheep were connected to the plant by an umbilical cord and grazed the land around the plant. When all accessible foliage was gone, both the plant and sheep died.
People need to stop thinking this is bad though. Regional/prime psychic and fighting types are essential to a dex
Brain looks fantastic. Id love just a bit longer skirt
Brawn needs more actual brawn. Maybe less clashing colors. Concept is overall nice though--one of the most original fighting type fakemon ideas
Actually i retract my opinion. Brawn has a nice and original concept but it is a classic case of "it just gets bigger"
It needs to develop something aside from size. Champ and conk both double their weapons in the last stage (double pair of arms and double construction materials). Maybe make it so first stage of brawn has no goggles, second one gets a monocole-like device like in DBZ and last stage gets full visor/helmet
Was there ever a better picture done of these for Aus? Really liked them.
I think I'm on to something with the colors though.
So start completely from scratch then?
Also, I didn't necessarily design this, someone sugified my concept and I altered it a bit to suit what I was going for.
Water starter then?
Fuck me, I'm pissed about that gorgonopsid.
What if I started it off as a cat-looking thing and as it evolved it "regressed" into a more reptilian creature with the final form being a gorgonopsid looking guy?
Why not a Fire Dimetradon? That way you keep the face, and have a thin flame stream on the back?!
Evolve it to a stegasaurus with separate flame 'spines' before it's flames become spikes like an ankylosaurus
I like this a lot. I will try to incorperate it into the final form. But as far as Stegosaurus goes, I didn't want to go full dinosaur because I feel like that's reserved for fossil Pokemon, so I left it ambiguous with the proto-mammal thing.
Alright. I think this guy isn't looking too bad. Going for a cynodont look.
"Cynotyke" or "Cynobyte?
There's nothing to talk about, I just gave a name suggestion.
If the tripcode alone triggers you enough not to take it, I'm fine with that.
assuming you're that other guy
people will stop shitflinging and take you seriously if you're not redditing-out m8 and let's have fun
but i'm already having fun. why does this nametag prevent you from having fun?
why do you care about identity making somebody "reddit" when 90% of this board is reddit-tier posts and maymays?
also i don't care if a bunch of shitposters don't take me seriously, desu~ i legit believe anybody with a brain won't judge me solely for having a name but i guess i'm expecting too much from /vp/, right?
Not sure if fyte is that great. What does it mean? Kind of wanna go a Totodile/Croconaw route and switch up the final form's base name. (Crocodile > Alligator.)
This has some potential I think.
Overall, in the final form "Gorgonopsid" should be utilized somehwere, too cool of a word to go unused.
tripcodes are for certain threads like /wfg/ to make communicating with specific anons easier, but this is an anonymous image board, not an aol chatroom, your name means nothing and just causes shitposting like this
I don't like that hard transition with consonants (going from 'gon' to 'kyte'). That would be like Bulbasaur being called Bulbsaur. "Tepig" Fuck, it just sounds like shit.
If my name really meant nothing then it wouldn't cause shitposting like this... you have the power to make this board better or worse, anon. If you choose to let every little thing trigger you to shitpost, then that's your decision at the end of the day.
that being said, I usually pick a starter based on what the final form will look like
when I saw the Kalos starters, I thought they looked like fucking cancer, but then when I saw Chesnaught and Greninja I was pleasantly surprised
Now I just gotta design a final form that doesn't look like complete fucking ass, then someone with actual skill can Sugi it for us.
Going for Fire/Ground I think. Not a bad type and hasn't been done yet.
The flame tail really makes it look like Charmander. I always preferred the idea of it creating little extra "horns" out of fire when attacking
Coincidentally, I've also been working on a gorgonopsid concept for a while now, but as a fossil mon, and also kind of mixed with a sabre-tooth tiger
I didn't do a middle. Should I?
Also should I bother? Does it look better than this >>24607490? Which I think looks pretty good. A little too mammalian for my tastes, but >muh tastes.
Does it matter? Good concepts, then the types fill themselves in.
If you wanna avoid literally everything being a Dragon type, um.
how about mono-type, Ground, Water, Electric respectively?
And its counterpart, a Therizinosaurus/dodo kind of thing
Thoughts on this legendary pokemon?
I was trying to go with the lush and something that represents jungles and tropics with the parrot/butterfly idea. I decieded try to put in the sleek look for this pokemon since it represents delicateness hence the fragility of life. Typings would go Fairy/Grass or Grass/Flying
Basically this Pokemon would only protect places near the equator. But this kinda sounds very similar to Xerneas in some way.
stick figure with streamers all over it
Oops forgot the image, sorry about that
In my opinion, the best Legendaries are Mewtwo and Lugia. Both relatively simple, yet both their own unique creatures, and they look slick and powerful.
Most other Legendaries are either my mom's animal (Ho-oh, Xerneas) or just dragons with geometric shapes all over them.
Try thinking of what you want for a theme for a Legendary Trio, and based on that theme, make some mon that follow that theme. Keep it simple and unique and don't resort to pasting shit all over them to compensate for lack of design.
If you want to do a jungle god type legend, you may be on the right track with a bird or Quetzalcoatl type thing, although Ho-oh already did that. So create your own creature, maybe reminiscent of Q, but not literally just a Sugified bird of paradise like Ho-oh or just a birdlike figure with streamers/leaves all over it.
All this being said, I'm not saying I could do anything better, I'm just calling them as I see them.
All THAT being said, Ho-oh and Xerneas aren't even bad Pokemon. Neither are the geometry dragons. Fug is actually my favorite Legend even over Mewtwo and Lugia. Even if there isn't necessarily a lot of thought put into a concept, it can still come out looking fucking spectacular. Zekrom (literally just a dragon) or even Charizard (literally just a dragon/dinosaur with its tail on fire).
Catch my drift, family?
Based off terrapins and Godzilla monster things
Really like your style. Not digging how everything looks like it needs a cup of coffee though.
It's honestly tough to make a Pokemon. I mean, it all boils down to the style. A shit concept can turn out great-looking given the right amount of finesse (although no amount of finesse can fix shit like ice-cream-with-a-face or literally gears).
But yes. If they're a legendary, they have to look imposing. And to be a good legendary, they have to look unique. Find that theme you want, look at what others have done (maybe don't do the Q design because Ho-oh already did that), take inspiration, and create something unique of your own.
>Legendary must be unique and imposing.
They look tired. Like they didn't get enough sleep.
Alright, I understand thanks! About these terrapin's eyes, I just made them to look heavy to go with the bulky design. Also, on these other stages they just have angry eyes (Thier eyes are the same as Meganium shape-wise)
I'll try to go from top to bottom.
hate those squares (?)
mirror is shit
robot Squidward is shit
Pokeball coon is shit, that was never ever a good gimmick
book ghost is ok, don't like its first form
cactus bug is decent, little too busy, needs work but still good
bird is generic but ok
apple worm is GOAT
mosquito is meh
those squares or whatever are really awful though
Based off hot rod cartoon characters, the rat is based off the Rat Fink character.
Just because something has an initial concept, like "living pixels" sounds like MAYBE it could work when it's on paper, but is anyone really asking for that? not only that it doesn't look good
maybe if they were another gimmick mon like Ditto that would transform into a "pixel" version of the Pokemon it was battling, maybe with greater offense and less bulk? or vice versa?
I know that movie wasn't good, but I didn't have anything else to think of as a inspiration and was literally thought up in a second, so yeah.
Make a pixel alt. evo of Porygon, like a glitched Porygon, make it part Dark or something.
>Pretty cool, but not for a starter.
maybe it's the style but this just isn't right
I like it. looks like a Normal type second/final evo of an early area mon.
shuppet + raccoon. change the bottom of the "hoodie" and it's good
okay if it evolves
what is this supposed to be?
the pointed "hair" is over the top, the rest is good
I like it
I like it, but pre-evo is too reminiscent of Corsola
Sugified animals are the best
the square things are underdesigned. the tanukiball (I'm guessing that's what it is) doesn't do enough with the fake pokeball thing to justify repeating it (compare with Foongus/Amoonguss). the ghost book thing is very nice, so are the first and second evos of the leafy bug. the redwinged bird thing is bland (and the head/wings are too reminiscent of Scizor), the apple worm is too reminiscent of Shuckle, the purple mosquito is nice.
Her's the first Idea I have: Shockatiel.
3 stages, all Lightning/Flying: Shockatiel -> Shockatoo -> Shockaplume.
Shockaplume will be a Major Mitchel with insane lightning Mohawk/crest
>Would be better if there was some kind of extra theme added to it as opposed to being just a cartoony bacteriophage with a face
The theme is supposed to be man-made computer software. That's the last stage. The first two weren't posted.
>same with this one
-They reside in haunted houses as average pillows, but when they sense intruders, they come out of their dormant stage.
-Brought to life by the spirit of someone who was murdered via pillow, this Pokemon awkwardly seeks vengeance with poor results....
I love a 'mon with an awesome name.
These have some of my favorite names- Geckorode and Korodomodo.
I really like the idea of this, been trying to get one variant based on Dunsparce.
So no one is gonna mention how great this looks. No so good for a starter but somewhere down the line. In an under water cave or someplace.
