222 KB,
How do you feel about the potential for VR technology to revive certain dead genres, most notably the light gun game genre?

I for one think that a game like Time Crisis or even Lucky and Wild could see an interesting rebirth in the form of a VR-enabled experience. I've only tried one VR shooting game, a Vive demo game where you shoot at flying drones. It worked well, but the problem for me was following enemies on the system. As they could go all around you, it was hard to track where the attacks were coming from, and I had difficulty using the 3D radar they added,...

It'll be good for porn and virtual boy emulation and that's it.
The day we're able to directly connect our brain and nervoud system to a machine and vice versa, we'll be able to experience genuine Virtual Reality, for now it's just a fancy virtual boy. Sure it'll look great, even realistic, but you'll still feel it's fake and it won't be as fun as you think to do as a regular thing. VR will be dismissed (AGAIN) as a gimmick.

I don't think you're giving the level of tech we have now a fair shake. I don't think we're going to see a resurgence in light guns, but we are going to see a huge experimentation phase as we figure out what works and what doesn't.

It's the same old story you see with tons of /vr/ gear: someone develops something novel, and it takes a while for people to develop for it. VR feels like we're past the point of developing the tech, and now we just need someone to develop a killer...

Hi /vr/ i want to build a light gun support/cabinet.
with an LCD fixed on the wall and a wood column with 2x100mm led buttons for start . pedals at the bottom and holsters on the side.

As i love House of the dead 3 i would like to have shotguns too. And recoil is a must have for all guns.

Can someone give me some tips or recommendation for guns i would need for this ? and if i can make convertion of retail light guns.

Do LCDs even work with light guns?
>>
>>3460542
No, this is common knowledge
>>
For what you want, I recommend just buying a HotD3 cabinet.

You're not really going to get the guns separate, and even if you could, the home LCD solutions are bad enough with pistols, if you extend that out to a shotgun they'd be near useless.

Then you're going to need to basically learn how to code an interface and drivers for the guns and hook them up to a PC if you want to play anything else, which would be kind of silly with massive shotguns anyway.

As for recoil, whatever solenoid you put in probably wouldn't deliver enough of a...

I replayed it for the first time in awhile recently and had a good time with it. There are some stupid bits, but it's pretty successful at what it tries to do.

One of the best in the series, though? I don't know. MG2 certainly is. At the very least I like MG1 more than anything after MGS3.
>>
>>3460335
Yeah, the bit reminds me lavandonia theme, quitely rendondant, mgs1 and 2 are easier about gameplay, mg1 and 2 are the hardest ihmo.
About the development, story and graphic i agree, mgs3 > mgs1 > mgs2. I don't consider em so retro.

About the only good thing they did was bring over some games that probably wouldn't have been brought over, and in the process destroy the essence of them with fart and sex jokes.

Their box sets are nice, but you're always better off playing the JP release.

WD made it their mission, loud and up front, to bring out the best RPGs that other publishers had passed over, and to give them the best localizations possible. this mean localizing the entire experience: the box, the instructions, and the shitload of gimmicks and geegaws that come in Japanese games.

i'm searching for an arcade game I played when I was younger, but i don't remember the name and i can't find it in any database.
It was a colorful platformer in a fantasy land. Coop was possible, characters had ranged weapons (guns or spells, don't remember) and the first boss was a kirby-like tree who could shape the ground.
Also had some sort of Rancor-like boss

It was released before 1998 and on the same machine as Mobile Suit Gundam EX.
