My guess is that back before 3D, devs/artists actually used their brains when deciding the direction for graphics.

Then 3D meme landed, everyone suddenly decided that Lara Croft was legit fap material, and came to the consensus that if a game was sprite-based it sucked by definition and the devs were sore losers who didn't have enough sex. Polygon count became an actual marketing buzzword, and everyone bought into it.

Also I read that when SNK tried to release their fighting games on some 6th gen consoles (IIRC), they weren't allowed to do that without...

Realize how fruitless your anger is.

Oh wow, god this was such a terrible game. When I bought it, I thought I would just need an Analogue controller to fix the controls. It still controlled like ass. Also, the loading times were INSANE.

The music was really good though, especially the title screen music, it was so well done. The game just graphically fell apart and there is no excuse with games like Rage Racer and Ridge racer Type4 being so amazing. Namco always knew how to bring out the best of the PS1 while Midway really struggled with shitty ports.

Track 1 = data. Track 2 onward = music.

Bin files are data. Cue sheets are a sort of "map" of the data, linking all the tracks together. Both are required.

To start the game you select the .cue file.

>>
>>3434235
>But PSX can do 3D even better than the N64

It can do good (or decent) 3D, but not better than N64, no.

The problem with this game was that it's more isometric than 3D really, the camera has a weird angle at all times, instead of being placed behind the character.
Also, it seems the game was developed by Konami from Nagoya, instead of Osaka, who made the N64 games.

The automap should have been handled differently. This could be fixed by making the map an inventory item, saved from level to level, and once you select it, it takes a while to download, which would be triggered by killing, say, something like 20 monsters, or half those remaining.

Retro emulation on PSP thread

I'm trying to play MGS Ghost Babel on it but every time the guards get alerted their sprite glitches out. I've tried both Masterboy and GeMP, and it's not the ROM itself because I have no issues emulating it on PC and Wii. Any advice? A quick google search only turned up one forum result asking the same question that got immediately closed by a moralfag mod.

I actually remember having the same issue. The answer is to simply not get caught, OP. It's a stealth game for crying out loud.

I played through the game multiple times on the PSP without issue, so if you can overlook the sprite bug--which is the only issue I remember--it's perfectly fine. I don't have a solution though.
>>
The game doesn't run correctly on MasterBoy/whatever emulator you have. It also freezes once you enter the elevator in stage 3.

Just finish it on PC. Now get out.
>>
>>3432590
For some reason, GBC emulation is kind of weird on PSP. It works almost perfectly, but there are a few games it messes up with. Shantae has a ton of graphical glitches that make it almost unplayable, for example.

I'm not sure if this is an error everyone has, but when I'm playing Pokémon Crystal and I use the switch on the side to put my device into sleep mode, it shuts off unless I have the Masterboy menu open, which is also annoying.
