My guess is that back before 3D, devs/artists actually used their brains when deciding the direction for graphics.
Then 3D meme landed, everyone suddenly decided that Lara Croft was legit fap material, and came to the consensus that if a game was sprite-based it sucked by definition and the devs were sore losers who didn't have enough sex. Polygon count became an actual marketing buzzword, and everyone bought into it.
Also I read that when SNK tried to release their fighting games on some 6th gen consoles (IIRC), they weren't allowed to do that without... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
I've never played a visual novel and I want to give Yu-No a try. Where do i start? I can't seem to find any links that has the full game or translation patches. The links I have found apparently are filled with viruses.
Start with something easier, like Final Fantasy or LoZ: LttP. And learn to control your anger. Realize how fruitless your anger is. Clear your mind and calm down. Analyze the situation. What made you angry? Now what actually made you angry? How do you solve this?
Oh wow, god this was such a terrible game. When I bought it, I thought I would just need an Analogue controller to fix the controls. It still controlled like ass. Also, the loading times were INSANE.
The music was really good though, especially the title screen music, it was so well done. The game just graphically fell apart and there is no excuse with games like Rage Racer and Ridge racer Type4 being so amazing. Namco always knew how to bring out the best of the PS1 while Midway really struggled with shitty ports.
In this hobby you usually find yourself with a bunch of consoles you have to store and swap out often. Has anyone found a reliable tv stand/display case to display and make it easier to play? I am thinking about just taking the drawers out of a dresser.
>>3434202 I fucking hate crash bandicoot but CTR is best kart racer. Emulate that bad boy in 1440p or whatever the fuck and have yourself a time. Chu Chu Rocket is dope until someone realizes the randomization in that game is kind of bullshit. Every mario party game is cancer, avoid that degenerate trash. Power Stone 2 is all right.
>>3434235 >But PSX can do 3D even better than the N64
It can do good (or decent) 3D, but not better than N64, no.
The problem with this game was that it's more isometric than 3D really, the camera has a weird angle at all times, instead of being placed behind the character. Also, it seems the game was developed by Konami from Nagoya, instead of Osaka, who made the N64 games.
The Louisiana floods have me concerned, having me think about how easily my whole collection could be destroyed. Do you have any sort of disaster plan for your game collection? Do you have any sort of escape route for them if you're struck with a flood? A fire?
>>3433948 >a service that will never pay you what you claim and even when they do it takes a long time and it will only be a small percentage and you better still have all your receipts for the shit you claim >your insurance money will go to fixing your house, not a fucking dime will go towards replacing your games
>>3433846 They were great. The CnC ones were especially great, with Kane and Stalin. They felt like cheesy B-movies, never took themselves too seriously. I remember a great one with Tim Curry, can't remember the name of it though.
Also Malcolm McDowell in Wing Commander 4. Shit was awesome.
>listen to some old nes game music for nostalgia >notice the music is much faster then I remember >do some research >turns out Europe standard (PAL) is 50hz while USA (NTSC) is 60hz >every game is 17% slower I have been playing on easy mode my entire childhood why was this allowed
>>3434060 Yeah, I would definitely recommend this. I haven't been playing it for years 'cuz i forgot about it. But recently I wanted to give it another shot. In my opinion story is really cool, kinda grim and depressing, it's not the standard good vs. evil. And battle dynamics is really neat.
Is there a game you that you have some random memory of, even though the game in particular wasn't one of your all time favorites or anything? You know, some random feeling or a sense of a particular time and place?
I had strep throat when I played this, and for some reason the cozyness of the game made it all okay. I got to stay home and play this, and even though strep throat should have sucked, I ended up having a lot of fun.
I also vividly remember playing Resident Evil with my dad. He never really paid attention to video games, but he liked RE and we... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.

>aiming to beat every licenced NES game >has already beaten every Castlevania, Ninja Gaiden and Dragon Warrior game >recently went out and bought a Miracle Piano to beat it's shitty game, it took about 92 hours
Anyone else ever tune in, it's being going for years. I know i'm going to get memeposts but hopefully some of you will give credit where it's due.
>eats a taco >begs viewers to send me their videogames for free for no reason >eats a pizza >begs viewers to send me their money for no reason >plays videogame for 10 minutes >takes break >eats another pizza >yells at chat for asking questions >begs for free videogames again >complains... >>3433080 Wolfenstein was even worse. You do realize the same people developed all three of these games and naturally the newer of the three is going to showcase the progress made over the years and that you are an ass for even complaining about something this trivial? Secrets are an added bonus to the game and not required for the completion of it. It complements the existing gameplay and you should be thankful that the devs were cool enough to include them for tje benefit of the consumer in the first place. God I hate some... Comment too long. >>3433080 The automap should have been handled differently. This could be fixed by making the map an inventory item, saved from level to level, and once you select it, it takes a while to download, which would be triggered by killing, say, something like 20 monsters, or half those remaining.
I didn't see anyone about front mission so I'll post it here.
I have had a passing interest about the series but I only played the one that was on the DS, which I am assuming is an enhanced port of the first game on SNES. Any recommendations of which game in the series should I play?
I played the one on the DS which was okay expect the story which might've been good but I don't remember a single thing about it.
FM3 was for me a 9/10 game. Those training/holo missions to level up weapon skills and all that tend to be a drag. I remember wanting to level up someone's non-main weapon skill and it was boring as hell since only one mission gave enough xp to do it. Overall excellent.
FM4 I went in after FM3 and it appeared to be good but I couldn't bring myself to care about anything going on and iirc the story jumps between... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>3432667 I learned about the pawn ticket in Landstalker a few weeks ago. I've been addicted to the game as a kid and used to play it with my dad. We even had the guide book for it and it didn't mention the ticket.
I'm trying to play MGS Ghost Babel on it but every time the guards get alerted their sprite glitches out. I've tried both Masterboy and GeMP, and it's not the ROM itself because I have no issues emulating it on PC and Wii. Any advice? A quick google search only turned up one forum result asking the same question that got immediately closed by a moralfag mod.
>>3432590 For some reason, GBC emulation is kind of weird on PSP. It works almost perfectly, but there are a few games it messes up with. Shantae has a ton of graphical glitches that make it almost unplayable, for example.
I'm not sure if this is an error everyone has, but when I'm playing Pokémon Crystal and I use the switch on the side to put my device into sleep mode, it shuts off unless I have the Masterboy menu open, which is also annoying.
I'm still fuming /v/, I need somewhere to vent. >Thrift store in my area held a huge video game event today >Thrift store opens at 9am >My sister and I show up at 8:30am >we want to pick up an n64 for my 4 year old nephew so we can all play a copy of mario kart 64 that we still own (we do not own the system itself) >I'm thinking of picking up an snes myself >A line of 50 people...
