the information menu in final fantasy VIII adds backstory and info about various people and places in the game as you progress. there are also magazines like Occult Fan and Timber Maniacs, and a bunch of stuff in your computer in Balamb Garden
I still play it from time to time. I always liked playing to accomplish something pretty obscure, like run a household with no full time employment, or master each skill.
I recently made a house with 2 parents and six kids. Without cheating, I built a small house, got the parents jobs, and purchased enough decent furniture for everyone. Then I put the game on fast forward to see how long it takes for each Sim to get fired/flunk out of school, fall asleep on the floor, or for the household to go bankrupt and eventually starve.
I got bored with drowning them and... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
What does /vr/ think of this game? I got it recently for cheap and it seems decent. The elements system seems like it might have its flaws but the music, setting, and premise are pretty interesting. Thoughts?
So I've started playing the Final Fantasy series and I decided to begin with 4. I do have to say, it's pretty fun. The story is neat and I enjoy Cecil's character. Anything you guys wanna talk about regarding this game and the series in general?
For those consoles I don't have I must emulate. My video card has a composite port. When I plugged it into my CRT and turned on the computer it showed the POST and boot sequence and then the display turned black when it got to the login screen. The computer monitor still showed the desktop.
I looked on google but they only have tutorials for modern flat TVs. I tried a bunch of options in the control panel such as resolution and monitor select but I can't get it work.

>>2799503 The game's still piss easy even at the highest difficulty setting, mostly because as per the tradition of the series the combat system is a goddamn clunky mess and whoever designed it and thought it was good should seriously reconsider his whole life.
Everything else is top tier though, immortal graphics that could only be rivalled by SaGa Frontier 2, great score, good writing, it is even non linear.
Hey /vr/, I plan on making a 16-bit styled video game (don't worry, it's not retro, so I won't shill it here), however I'm still not sure what kind of game I want to make, so I'm looking for some inspiration. What is your favorite game(s) of the 16-bit era?
>>2799447 what? you don't have your own favorite games? you need help deciding what you want to make, let alone skill or knowledge to pull that off? Just quit, you'll never go anywhere acting like that.
I definitely have my own favorites, but that doesn't mean I shouldn't look for inspiration elsewhere. There's plenty of SNES and (especially) Genesis games that I haven't played but definitely should, maybe I could follow your recommendations.
